VS2008 / Windows 7 - Can't Adjust Screen Brightness?
Mar 8, 2012My laptop was working fine.Yesterday, I installed VS2008, Google Chrome, and MSDN.Today, when I start my laptop, the screen brightness goes very low when I reach the "enter your Windows 7 password" page.
I have a Sony Vaio vgn-nr11s/s Also, my wireless connection and LAN seems to have vanished into thin air.

Jul 22, 2012I purchased a Dell Inspiron N5040 several months ago, and since I first got it, my connectivity to my in-home wi-fi upon start-up fickle. I still have my old laptop, and on that one I simply open the laptop and it's connected. This new one, I have found that I MUST put it to sleep before closing, and upon "waking" it back up, I may or may not be connected to the wi-fi upon restart. A little "caution" symbol will appear over the wi-fi indicator, and it say that I am connected to my network, but no internet connection. Sometimes I can disconnect and reconnect, but sometimes I have to put my computer to sleep and start over again.what I need to do to have consistent connectivity?

Feb 9, 2012Recently I have purchased Inspirion N5040 with Windows 7. I have observed the system looses internet connection when on Wi-FI.
Checked Ping on Yahoo & google with -t option and found few ping response and then a lot of request time outs.
I am sure you must be doubting the signal strength of Wi-Fi but I can confirm the signal strength was fine. In fact I performed ping test simultaneously on another laptop . The performance on other laptop was fine but on Inspirion N5040 I was finding too many Ping drops and was not able to browse properly.
I also, verified setting on Wireless adapter and found it is in DHCP.

The Dell uses Internet Explorer, Windows XP and a Netgear WNA3100 Wireless-N 300 USB Adapter. I have upgraded the video and BIOS on the Dell, and the drivers on the Netgear Adapter. I have a 2Wire modem/router from AT&T with 3.00 mps. My new 32" LG HDTV is 1080p with 60Hz, but it is NOT a smart HDTV. I know I won't get 1080p with the old Dell, but what could I expect to get? Roku will not give me surfing capability in a web browser.

Apr 28, 2012I am using a GRE-IPSEC tunnel configuration + EIGRP routing protocol and I would like to confirm if I am right with the following:
Due to I am configuring the IP MTU = 1400 in the Tunnel interface, I am avoiding additional fragmentation after GRE encapsulation because there is enough room for IPSEC encapsulation (no matter which mode I am using - I am considering the worst case Tunnel Mode). However, I would like to know what happens if I ALSO include in the Tunnel configuration the command ip tcp adjust-mss 1360 which is clear operates in layer 4 during the 3 way handshaking process to establish the TCP connection/session between opposite hosts (in this case the interaction is with the respective end routers). By adding this MSS command, I understand that I could also eliminate the initial fragmentation of the 1500 bytes LAN packets (before GRE encap) because the hosts are notified to send 1360 bytes packets to the Router and based on the previous, I would be able to transfer packets without "theorical" fragmentation between both ends.
One more question, how can affect if I include this additional command (TCP ADJUST-MSS) the performance (process + memory) of a router 3845 or 7200 without producing for example a entire crash of the device???. I understand that this TCP MSS negotiation is router process intensive but is less than IPSEC encryption/decryption.

Jun 12, 2010I got a (one year old) Dell Inspiron 1545 and I'm using it always with wifi on to get connected to the net.Since a couple of days this Wifi connection often goes off and on (by itself) and I got no clue what it source of this problem is.My Eventlog says that it switches off very irregulary (between 3 and 10 minutes). I've installed the newest drivers and got the latest updates for the Wifi card and on my Windows Vista.

We were having issues where the primary controller would software reset (according to show sysinfo), the secondary (HA SKU) would take over and then after a few hours the secondary would also software reset and the primary would take over. Also I notice that after this happens that the Tx Power Control doesn't seem to adjust the A radio settings, most of the radios are at the 6 level. Normally they are 1, 2, or 3. Last week I upgraded to 7.3.112.0, later that day the same thing happened.

Sep 29, 2012When i turn the laptop on at first it seems normal and it says i have an internet connection, but when i try to go on the internet it just puts up a blank white screen. It then tries to load a webpage and either freezes completely and the whole screen goes black or times out after about 10 minutes and says:
