Every time I try my computer says there is no ethernet cable connected but I know it is. I read around on the forums and one thread (that is now closed), was about the same problem and to diagnose the problem they asked to use IPCONFIG/ALL in the cmd.exe. The results are this:

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy Dell destop with Windows 7 all of a sudden doesn't seem to recognize my router, yet my laptop works fine (which I'm using now). After reading other posts, I reset the router with no results, used a new cable from the Belkin to the computer, changed ports, checked connections, restarted; nothing. When I do an ipconfig, a small window pops open and goes off before I can make anything out. I undestand Belkin's IP address is 192.168.2.1 and I'm showing that my IPv4DHCP Server is that, as is my DNS server. The IPv4WINS server shows nothing.

I tried connect my Ethernet wire from my computer to the wireless router but it's not connecting or registering. The wireless router is a WRT54G and I can access the device ip for it but I don't know how to assign an IP address for the new computer. I already had a computer (wired) and a laptop (wireless) connected to the router. I'm using a straight trough Ethernet wire Doing the steps in the sticied post below didn't work because typing ipconfig /release didn't work?

I have a Studio 1555 64bit running on Windows 7, within the past few weeks, my wireless connection sporadically turns off, the wireless router is ok, I can connect wifi to my phone. My computer does not recognize any wireless networks, although there are several in the neighborhood. Sometimes it randomly comes on.

My desktop has XP and only shows one adapter..I believe one of the adapters in the Acer net book is wireless ( being a new machine ) and the desktop is an older pc with a wired adapter. Could i copy the wireless adapter and paste it into my Desktop, to enable wireless connections? Obviously, we are not talking about actual cards, they are all integrated into the Motherboard.

Longstanding problem with Ethernet connected computer losing connectivity to E3200. Connectivity reestablished by powering down, cutting power to cable modem, computer, and E3200, and restarting. Other wireless connections (iphones, ipad, other dos -based laptops have no problems--never any loss of connectivity. Things I have done to date: removed Linksys E-series software and reloaded, updated drivers, changed all wiring to router, and checked IP addresses and they are different.

View 5 Replies View RelatedThe main computer received a virus and I had to reinstall the operating system. When I did, however, all settings disappeared. The lights on the modem and router are fine, and the secondary computer has full access to the Internet. I also can use my Wii with the Internet. I tried setting up the router again but the main computer won't load the web-based configuration utility page. The secondary computer, however, can. I tried plugging the modem directly into the computer but the computer didn't seem to recognize it either. I bought a new router, thinking if I got software it would automatically set everything. However, the router I received came with zero software. I plugged it in and the computer still couldn't connect to the config page. I am at a loss as what else to do here.
My old router is a Motorola WR850G and my new one is a Netgear WR614 v9. Either would be fine to use, as long as I can get both computers to connect. The host computer has XP and the secondary Vista.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter using my 2 TB WD network storage device on other systems both wirelessly and via an ethernet connection, I decided to install the device on a new system via a wired connection. Unfortunately, my computer (WIN XP) won't recognise the device when using a direct connection though my talk talk supplied D-LINK wireless router. I have contacted WD and talktalk and gone through all the diagnostic processes but it still won't recognise the device. I have been able to connect this device through an older D-LINK router (still wireless) on the same talk talk ISP with no problems so I can't understand why it won't connect here. The WD device reports no problems but I can't access it, even when all firewall and AV programs are disabled.

My wireless LAN card is capable of picking up both frequencies, but will not even recognize the 5.0ghz connection, only the 2.4 one. View 8 Replies View RelatedSo I have a Westell 7500 Modem/Router with Century Link DSL. I've been running a couple of laptops and my wifi enabled TV on the wireless. A few days ago I got a new desktop PC (Windows 7) and plugged the ethernet cable into it. Everything was great but the wireless was a bit slow for the TV so I plugged that in with an ethernet cable too. No problems for a few days. Today, we had a power blip and everything reset and I noticed that the internet light on the modem was solid red and I couldn't access the internet on any machine (ethernet or wifi). I called the ISP who said there was an outage in the area. A few hours later, solid green light on the modem BUT the TV (ethernet connected), my iphone, and my laptops could NOT connect, despite the network showing up with a full signal. Oddly, my new PC, connected via ethernet was fine so I played some Diablo (side note). Here's the deal: the new PC connects just fine but nothing else will. If I unplug the ethernet cable to the PC or disable the LAN connection, the red internet light appears on the modem. It seems as though the PC has hijacked the modem in some way. Even the TV won't connect with the ethernet cable. The only way the internet works now is if the modem is connected to the new PC. I've done all the resents - unplugged the modem and let it sit for 10-15 minutes, accessed the router settings, etc etc. Why would this start happening now after everything was working well for several days and how do I fix it? I need the wifi connection! Update: Plugged my Macbook Pro into the ethernet cable (took it out of new PC) and it works.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a USB Adapter for my desktop. I tested it on my laptop (with the Wi-Fi off), and it works perfectly, but for some reason, my wireless network is disabled on my desktop and right clicking it to enable it will not enable it. Under "change adapter settings", the "wireless network connection" icon is continually grayed out. There isn't a problem with the adapter itself, as it works fine on my laptop. Here are the things I have tried already:
1. Installing the adapter in safe mode
2. Disabling firewall and uninstalling antivrius
3. Checking if the hardware and device is working perfectly
Is there any way to enable the wireless network connection?
My family just gave me their old Mac desktop, I wiped it clean and then tried to connect to the internet at my house and it tells me I have invalid password for the wireless. I also tried to connect it directly via ethernet cable that works and it will not connect. I want to connect my Mac directly with ethernet. All the other computers with internet work in my house so I know its not the internet. I will post below my computer specs and internet specs which I got from my other windows PC. I've tried manually putting in the ISP and DNS and nothing works.

View 1 Replies View RelatedEarlier my desktop was to b in d same place where the router was der. Everything worked fine. Now I decided to shift my desktop to another room. I have kept the router at the earlier place only. I have brought a 25m long new cat 5 cable. When I connected it to my desktop, the orange led on ethernet port do not light up and the desktop is unable to detect the ethernet cable and hence the internet connection. On the router, a light of ethernet keeps on blinking every 1 second. I was worried whether my ethernet port got fried. So i inserted another ethernet cable, but then the ethernet orange light came and the pc detedted the connection. Therefore I thought the cable might be faulty. Therefore I connected my laptop with that 25m cable. But my laptop detected it and showed the internet connection. But now when i again connect the cable to my desktop, there's no light and the pc does not detect it. However, if i connect the 25m cable to my desktop then during boot the ethernet light on router is stable just as when it is normally connected to the internet. But when i go into windows it starts blinking every 1 second.
My router is MTNL Model No. UT-304R2
Desktop - Asus P7H55, core i5
Laptop- HP 2000
Windows 7 Ultimate on both desktop and laptop.
I have dell inspiron N4010, the computer cannot recognize the inbuilt webcam.
