When I try to connect to our domain I get the error message:Changing the Primary Domain DNS name of this computer to "" failed. The name will remain "(name of our domain)" The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted.The procedure is the same I've used since Hector was a pup and never had a problem. I can't add users to the domain and can't log on directly to the domain.

We migrated to LMS4.2 and i created new credential set and set it as the default. However, the new cdredential set applies only to newly added devices no to the migrated devices. for example when i run device credential verfication for a migrated device, the username used my LMS is "cwuser" as opposed to the one i created with the new credential sets. how can i make this new credentila set be applicable to all devices?
View 3 Replies View Relatedwhat i am trying to accomplish is to set up a domain for my home network. the domain is going to consist of 2 server boxes both running ubuntu 12.10 server edition and a client machine running windows XPone linux box will be my DC using samba and the other will host email, and apache2 web services.i dont know if you need all of this info but in my experience its best to be thorough.I registered a domain through godaddy.com and made it point to my home IP address. now what happens because all of my machines are behind a router is when i type in my URL it brings up the login request for the cicsco webinterface. what i would like to happen is that my router points traffic to the ip address on my home net work 192.168.1.XXX that is hosting the apache2 webserver.I would also like to connect the client(XP) machine to the domain controller but i keep getting an error that says that the domain does not exist. I have been through the samba settings and they are exactly the same as when i set them up for a mock PDC using "example.com" as a domain name

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a former corporate PC that logged into a domain server. Under <Control Panel><System> I changed from Domain to Workgroup. I now can't log on to any account including the administrator.I don't have the recovery disk. MS suggests a parallel installation of XP to provide access to the files on the disk. I can do that with any Linux CD. I don't have any data I want to recover. That was all stripped off before I got the PC. I do want to keep all the applications. If I reinstall XP, I will loose all the applications. I now know I can only logon to the administrator account if the PC is connected to the domain server. If I can restore the domain name, I can log on to the PC again.Where is the domain / group info kept and in what format?Is there a way of using a Linux CD to manually edit the XP files to restore / add a domain??

So what happened so far:
1. primary unit failed
2. secondary took over and is now secondary - active (as per sh fail)
2. requested RMA at Cisco
3. got ASA and checked that Lic (SSL), OS (8.2.2) and ASDM are at the same level as the secondary
4. issued wr erase and reloaded
5. copied the following commands to the new (RMA) primary unit:
failover lan unit primary
failover lan interface Failover Ethernet3
failover interface ip Failover 172.x.x.9 255.255.255.248 standby 172.x.x.10
int eth3
no shut
failover
wr mem
6. installed primary unit into rack
7. plugged-in all cables (network, failover, console and power)
8. fired up the primary unit
9. expected that the unit shows:
Detected an Active mate
Beginning configuration replication from mate.
End configuration replication from mate.
10. but nothing happened on primary unit
What is a valid and viable approach in replacing a failed primary unit? Is there a missing step that hinders me to successfully replicate the secondary - active config to the primary - standby unit.
I was not able to find anything related to ASA55xx primary unit replacement with a clear guideline or step by step instructions.

It works fine with an ethernet cable. I have a WII that uses the router also and I can watch a Netflix movie on it so the router seems to be working. My desktop computer is working fine through a DSL connection. The laptop is a Gateway and is running Vista.

I'm suspecting it a read/write issue with the database or a database corruption. I have stopped and started the application acs via the console and show application status acs has the following to say about itself.

what I did do was manually set my IP address for my laptop for my wireless. But I no longer needed to do that so I set it back to Automatic. But every minute or so my IP is changing back to 192.168.0.12 which I did change it to, although it is on Automatic. This is my guess to as what it is doing as I have no connection to the internet after about a minute. ipconfig also displays my IP Address as being 192.168.0.12 as well.What I have to do is disable and then reenable my wireless to get it working again.

I had a similar issue on my other pc that I use more often,though connecting through WIFI momentarily resolved the issue,before I returning to wired,where everything has been fine. I have have a XPS L502X. I decided to make a clean installation based on Windows 7 Ultimate.My problem is when I instal the driver for the "Dell Wireless HSPA 5540" it fails with then warning:
"Authentication failed. The .... driver cannot be installed on this computer...."

I am unable to connect to the internet on my desktop computer. The error message I receive is" Download failed(12007) The sever name or address could not be resolved" I am running windows 7. Problem is the same as recent posts by jerguy1928, with message "DNS lookup failed...." coming up in Google Chrome. Both IE and FF just say cannot connect.Running Windows 7 on laptop. I have tried alt DNS settings (Google and others), all the CMD suggestions, disabling firewalls etc, etc! Other computer in house connects just fine.Ping works fine. Really, there appears to be no reason to not be able to connect - since I am actually connected!
