Jul 17, 2012How can I get a driver for this wireless modem? My netgear failed completely. I am using a neighbour's connection to get on to the internet, and tried to download a driver, but every link I could find wanted to search my computer for the hardware. Ridiculous! I need a driver to make it work, and if I plug the Siemens in I lose the connection to get a driver.

This supports a 802.11g frequency, though I'd like to update my home network to 802.11n. My concern is this, is it worth buying a new router/hub that supports this frequency if the other devices in my home are still using 802.11g, i.e. Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, Laptop etc. Would it be worth instead to purchase a homeplug kit instead?

Mar 7, 2013I recently purchased a Wi-Fi repeater (Siemens Gigaset Repeater WLAN SE365) to boost my wi-fi signal throughout my house without having to drill through walls of concrete (with a boost in phone wi-fi in mind on the top floor of the house). I was advised to buy one specifically with the make and model of my router in mind, as connectivity might be an issue if these don't match up. I own a Siemens Gigaset SX55 router so there should be no issue there (I can use the repeater on 2 different frequencies, not sure which one is best, 2.4 or 5 ghz). The instruction manual told me to connect the repeater to my pc once (through use of an Ethernet-cable supplied) so I could alter the settings of the repeater to match with that of my router (same SSID, protection method, channel). Whereas naming it the same as the router by modifying the SSID and using the same ASCII WEP-protection password as the router were doable, I could not find an option to change a channel.
At this point the instruction manual was fresh out of ideas and told me that I had set up the repeater as it should be installed. After unplugging it from my pc and plugging the regular ethernet cable back in for internet (There is wi-fi coming from the router downstairs but also a cable through the house to the pc) I was ready to go and seeing the wi-fi bars on my phone jump up to maximum made me extremely happy. Unfortunately the phone (and the app Wifi Analyzer) did recognize the full signal but when trying to open sites or apps that use internet it responded as if it had no signal whatsoever

Sep 19, 2011I'm running Vista on my Desktop, and the router is a Gigaset SE567/8 Series. Whenever I turn my computer on, it will connect to the network, but not to the internet. I get the caution symbol in the task bar with the network icon, and it show the "identifying ( mySSID )". I have to unplug the router for 30 seconds in order to make it work correctly. This router was just installed by my ISP the other day and its been acting this way since then.

When I try to run it through the router, though, the router install appears to work right but I get a message saying that my internet connection might not be working. I power-cycled everything - unplugged all the cords and waited 20 minutes before restarting. It sounds like putting my modem in bridge mode might be the move? When I type in 192.168.0.1, I get a message that says "Server says: Linksys E2500." It also wants login information, and I'm not sure what that would be.

Sep 20, 2011I have a modem router (TP-Link TD-W8961ND) connected to the internet and working fine. It is broadcasting a wireless network and that too works fine.
I have a second modem router (Siemens SL2-141) functioning as an extender. It is wired to the first router and broadcasting a wireless network with the same SSID, same security, but on a different channel. DHCP and UPnP are disabled on the second router. My i Pad, iPhone, and Win7-based Think Pad are all able to move between the two networks with no problems.
We also have a Win XP SP2 Net book. When in proximity to Router1, this machine accesses the LAN and Internet with no problems. As soon as it gets closer to Router2, it picks up the signal and shows an "Excellent"/"Strong" connection but it can no longer see the internet. It can see Router2's config page and the other machines on the network but it cannot get past the router to the internet.

May 17, 2011I am using a broadband connection on a PC running Windows 7. The plan which my ISP is providing me comes with a speed of 4Mbps upto first 20 GB and then 512Kbps after that, every month. My problem is that I am getting only 65-70 Kbps download speed. (tested over various sites and torrents). My router (Nokia Siemens) settings show that my Downstream speed has been assigned as 7999 Kbps but still I am not getting the speed anywhere near that and I have not consumed the 20GB limit as yet.

Siemens host can be pinged without any problem but they are not able to do any other kind of traffic. If i look at the interface I can find that all ingress packet are UNKNOWN DROPPED.
I found a document where si explained that "probably" siemens host are using packet with 802.1p header and vlan 0.
I tried the following tests:
1) port in access mode - failed
2) port in trunk mode with native vlan - failed
3) port in access mode with voice vlan - failed
4) port in acess-mode with voice vlan dot1p - failed
