May 6, 2013I have a TPLink WDR3600 wireless router wired to AT&T's cable modem.
The modem assigned this ip to the router: 192.168.1.60.
The router creates a network with these IPs: 192.168.0.x
Question: I want to be able to RDP into my laptop that's connected to the router (ip: 192.168.0.4). Before I had a router I would just open the firewall on the cable modem and expose the laptop but now it feels like there's two layers i need to go though: the cable modem and then the router.
How do those two work together? Should I put the router in the cable modem's DMZ Zone and then just work on the router?If I want to open just a port do i need to open it both on the cable modem and the router? How does the incoming connection know which device to go to? How does it know to go to 192.168.0.4 instead of 192.168.0.2 for example?
Here's the components:
1 - AT&T 2Wire cable modem. Internet comes in the house through this box. Assigns IPs like this: 192.168.1.xxx
2 - TP-Link WDR3600 gigabit/wireless router. Assigns IPs like this: 192.168.0.xxx
3. WD My Book Network Storage. Wired connection.
4. Desktop PC. Wired connection.
5. Laptop PC. Wireless.
6. 1 ipad, 2 iphones. Wireless.
Current setup:
1. internet cable goes into 2Wire Modem.Wireless on this device is OFF.
2. cable goes from LAN port on modem to WDR3600 router's internet port
3. cables go out from router to Desktop PC and Network Storage
4. all other devices are connected to the 5GHz wireless network created by the router.
Siemens Speedstream 4100 - Can't Connect To Internet Through Router
Mar 19, 2013I'm trying to hook up a Siemens Speedstream 4100 and a Linksys E2500. The internet works fine when I plug the modem directly into the computer. When I try to run it through the router, though, the router install appears to work right but I get a message saying that my internet connection might not be working. I power-cycled everything - unplugged all the cords and waited 20 minutes before restarting. It sounds like putting my modem in bridge mode might be the move? When I type in 192.168.0.1, I get a message that says "Server says: Linksys E2500." It also wants login information, and I'm not sure what that would be.

Sep 20, 2011I have a modem router (TP-Link TD-W8961ND) connected to the internet and working fine. It is broadcasting a wireless network and that too works fine.
I have a second modem router (Siemens SL2-141) functioning as an extender. It is wired to the first router and broadcasting a wireless network with the same SSID, same security, but on a different channel. DHCP and UPnP are disabled on the second router. My i Pad, iPhone, and Win7-based Think Pad are all able to move between the two networks with no problems.
We also have a Win XP SP2 Net book. When in proximity to Router1, this machine accesses the LAN and Internet with no problems. As soon as it gets closer to Router2, it picks up the signal and shows an "Excellent"/"Strong" connection but it can no longer see the internet. It can see Router2's config page and the other machines on the network but it cannot get past the router to the internet.

Mar 5, 2012I got a few Cisco Aironet 3602i. The minimum WLC version to support these is 7.1.91.0. I am planning to upgrade to 7.2.103.0. The minimum WCS version to support these WAP is 7.0.220.0 and the next available 7.0.230.0. Checking the release notes for both of these WCS versions, there is no mention of support for WLC versions listed above.

Am I missing something here ? What versions would be required on WCS and WLC to make all the three entities (WLC, WCS, WAP) inter-operable ?

If my calculations are correct, the device can deliver 420 Mbps, which gives each client roughly 2.8Mbps. Is this correct?

It times outs on TFTP server when you hold the mode button (a 3500 is working fine doing the same thing).

Is there way to disable the join process while I upgrade the software? I guess fire up a controller for it to join. I hope I don't have to have a controller to convert these.

Jul 22, 2012I have an AP group on a Cisco 5508 WLAN controller. Currently, it is populated with 13 Cisco 1142 lightweight access points. When I try to add a Cisco 3602i access point to the group, I get the following error in NCS: Error: OfficeExtend requires primary, secondary, or tertiary controller management IP to be set.I am using DNS to allow my AP's to find the controller and they work just fine. Is there a reason I can't add the 3600 series AP's to the AP group?

Now I was trying to config a second interface ( port #2) and use it for the Guest SSID on a separate VLAN. After I rebooted the controller, it dumped all the APs. I would like to know if this is normal, If I need to enroll the APs everytime I reboot the controller.

• Enable and disable the radios
• Manually set basic and supported transmit rates

Feb 3, 2013I want to use the flexconnect in the same network where the wlc is located. Normally we will do it for over WAN and branch office. But I want to use in the same main office to avoid more bandwidth utilization on my distribution layer. Wlc is connected on Distribution switch.I want to do local switching in the access layer switch.
The below is the sample topology. But real topology contains nearly 200 AP's(3600 series) and 20 access switches and so on.....So there is a chance of 200 AP * 350 Mbps can flow on the distribution layer.So ,
1)If I use flexconnect any issues will be occuring?
2)Does it cause any impact on VOWLAN?

Apr 3, 2013I am trying to build a bridge between two of my access points. Both the access points connected to the wireless controller. I have changed the AP mode to "Bridge" after changing the power to custom.
The access points have both rebooted - but never "joined" the controller again. I have checked on the following pdf.

One thing I can see - if I run a ping to the last IP.. every now and again I get a single response then it drops again. Via the console on the access point I can see it's getting to the controller, getting its name then reading something that caught my eye

Jun 3, 2012I've got a client who purchased numerous 3600 series AP's (3602i to be exact) and would like to add them into their WLAN 4404 controller. They're currently on 5.x system code so I plan on getting them upgraded to the latest 7 code.
They currently have a number of AP's adding and working fine. Once the WLAN controller is upgraded, does anything specific need to be done within the WLAN gui to add in these new 3600 series AP's?
