HD (1920x1080) TV sees and plays all SD mpg (720x576) stored on a Lacie network drive. Now working in HD (1920x1080) and find that the TV does not even see the mpg files, let alone play them. If I convert the HD files to SD they are then visible again. It seems odd that a HD TV cannot see and play HD videos.

Both a gateway laptop and an HP laptop also work hardwired.When I use a Wireless Access point, it works fine with the laptops. However, when I use the Lenovo desktop connected directly by wire to the WAP, I only get "partial" internet access.I can ping yahoo, I can get a google page. But any "thick" content seems to be blocked.I can't play any youtube videos on the Lenovo via the WAP, or view websites with rich content.I get the youtube page, but it hangs on play. the laptops work wether wired to the router, or wired to the WAP. I was trying it again now and it doesn't work. It seems like I can't even connect to my wireless network. I tried to set it up again but it can't find my wireless network. I have tried resetting the TV too (UP arrow + Power button on TV) and still doesn't work. Contacted Sony support but they didn't assist. I have a laptop and ipad connected to the router in the same room so signal is not a problem.
I bought a D-Link DIR-655 hoping to get a faster connection over my Netgear WNR2000.I runs mostly fine apart from the occasional freezes and one other problem: youtube video's won't load. I can search and browse youtube, but when I click on the video, the page loads but the video just doesn't load. I can see the play/pause button and the circle telling use the video is loading. Then that's it. Nothing happens. When I plug back my WNR2000, Youtube videos load fine. Same thing on my roommate's laptop. We're replacing our DSL line with a Cable line. Our DSL was a one piece wireless router/modem. When it was installed, it was inside our office, next to the server, and plugged into Wall Jack 1 for all the other computers to connect to. Our server plugged into this modem/router. We didn't have the Belkin Router at the time. The Patch Panel wires went into the Hub behind our office and everything was fine.
The cable modem is now next to the Hub and Patch Panel. I bought the router since we didn't have the wireless feature that the DSL had and everyone I spoke to said I need a router to set up the office. I ran one of the LAN lines from the modem into the Router where it says Modem (WAN). From the Router, I ran the line 1 (LAN) into the Hub. (Does the number matter if nothing is plugged into it in our office?) No computer is able to connect to the internet except my laptop which connects wireless. It works fine.
Another problem. We have a server computer that's Unix based. In order for anyone to connect to the server to access the office software used, the IP address of the router must be 192.9.2.1 or the computer your using won't connect via Multiview 2000 Terminal Emulator. I can't connect to the server because the IP address of the router is still 192.168.2.1. I don't know where I have to go in the router settings to change it. I've tried a few spots and it tells me the IP address is invalid. The settings I had with the DSL modem/router were:
Modem IP address - 192.9.2.1
Subnet Mask - 255.255.255.0
DHCP Start Address - 192.9.2.100
DHCP End Address - 192.9.2.150
It's not like I need to run wires. Everything is set. If something is plugged into a wrong spot, I can switch it.
Additional info:
There are 4 computers in the office and 8 numbered wall jacks.
Server computer - Wall jack 8 (IP address of this machine - 192.9.2.25)
XP Machine 1 - Wall jack 4 (can't connect to server! No internet.)
XP Machine 2 - Wall jack 1 (Is able to connect to the server! No internet.)
Win CE Machine - Wall jack 9 -
I assume. I have a wire that goes through the wall on this machine and it isn't marked. (Rarely used so not sure about server connection)
Wireless Windows7 laptop - connects to the internet fine since it bypasses all these wires. Can't connect to server.
Under the DHCP client list, only 2 computers are listed. The one that has internet is my computer. The other computer listed is wall jack 4 and that has internet now.

The router IP is 192.168.2.1 and the Cable Modem is 10.1.10.11. If I type either number into my web browser it will take me to the router setup page. I don't know where/how to check if it's only one device acting as DHCP. What I want to do is be able to get online with all the computers as well as have access to the software on the server through the office wall jacks. In order to do that I need the router IP address to be 192.9.2.1 and then I'd be able to connect to it.
Right now, one computer is able to connect to the server via hard wire but can't connect to the internet.Another computer is able to connect to the internet via hard wire but can't connect to the server.My laptop can connect wireless to the internet but not the server. In a perferct world, all the computers should be able to connect to both the internet and the server. Right now, it's one or the other with both hard wired machines and I don't know why. Is there a wire not in the hub right? Is a patch panel wire plugged into the wrong port of the hub? I don't know what's supposed to go where. tell me "wire X from the modem goes to Port Z of the router, and Wire Y from the the router goes to number V on the Hub, and that wire goes to number T on the patch panel for the Port number R in the office to work..." I'll try it.
Then I think all I need to do is change the router's IP address to 192.9.2.1 and everyone should be able to connect to the server through the Multiview 2000 Terminal Emulator.When I tried to change the IP address on the router it's telling me it's not valid. Under LAN settings it says 192.168.2.1 - when I try to change it to 192.9.2.1 it tells me LAN IP address is invalid. I clicked on More Info below that in the router page and a pop up gives me info. It says:

I wanted to setup a home network for primarily sharing my music, pictures and videos.I have a PS3 which can stream the video/music and display the pictures from a media server to my TV.I was wondering between NAS and a desktop computer? and wanted to know which was the better or cheaper solution? Just bought a Sony Bravia KDL-46EX723 today and i am currently trying to connect it to my BT home hub via a "wired set up". BT home hub does not seem to be detecting the TV at all, when i try to do an auto set up it searches for a while and then comes back with, cable connection:failed, local access:failed, internet access:failed.I have went on to my network page to see if it was connecting to anything else and it is finding my external hardrive no problem via the Ethernet cable.I have tried looking at my computer IP details and adding them manually to the TV, but no joy, just comes back with the same errors.

On instruction from reviews of the TV on amazon, i bought a TP-Link wireless range extender to set up as a client/repeater (not sure which to use) to connect wirelessly to my router in another room so i can connect an ethernet to the TV for online functions without an overpriced Sony wireless dongle.I connect the device to the router, assign a random IP in the same subnet as my lan (since it has the same default address as my router) and set the default gateway to my router's IP address (assuming this is what it is asking for) and set the device to either client or repeater mode (unsure of which i need so have tried both) and everything seems fine until this point. However, I set the device to WEP security and set the WEP key to the same as my router as the instructions say and my router instantly loses it's internet connection entirely and repeatedly tries to reconnect and fail until i disable WEP security on the wireless range extender, at which point it successfully reconnects.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have in my basement a router (DLink DIR-655) which is connecting to our ISP, and I have cables running to wall jacks in the first floor. A wall jack which terminates in the living room I have connected to a switch, a DLink 10/100/1000 (DGS-1005G). To this I have my PS3 connected which can connect to the internet fine (although it seems to not get the same upload / download speeds other devices get) and my Sony Bravia TV (KDL-46Z5100). The PS3 registers as GB, while the TV 100MB (its port lights orange).
The problem is I can't get the TV to connect to the internet. If I try DHCP, it doesn't seem to find the DNS server (on another switch connected to the same router in a different room). If I hard code the IP address, still nothing.
I found that if I connect the TV directly into the wall, it can connect. It's just through the switch I'm having problems. Additionally, even I then plug it back into the switch and connect the switch to the wall jack, the connect continues to work. It just seems that i can't get it initialize when connected to the switch.

I have some 1080p video files on my PC. Since my PC isn't powerful enough to play the files smoothly, I have been streaming the content to my PS3 using Windows 7 media sharing.
This works well with no noticeable loss of quality.
My problem is that I have to go into the services on my PC and restart the WMPNetworkSvc service every time I switch the PS3 on, otherwise the PS3 doesn't detect the PC.
