HP Officejet 4500 - Does Wireless Printer Tether To Dsl Router With Cable?
Sep 11, 2011
i just bought an HP Officejet 4500 wireless all-in-one printer. i imagined this would mean that my laptop can print to the printer without a USB cable, but also that the printer itself would not have to "cable" to anything, but rather be wireless and located anywhere in the house. was i wrong? does this printer HAVE to connect physically with the router box?

I'm trying to connect this printer:
HP 5110 OfficeJet
HP Officejet 5500 All-in-One series overview - HP Small & Medium Business products
for access to anyone that wants to print. There are about 7 PC's and I bought a USB to Ethernet adapter so it plugs from the back of the printer and into the Ethernet port on the router.I am trying to access it from a Mac OSX 10.5 computer and 2 Windows PC's...

I am attempting to add my HP Officejet Pro 8500 wireless printer to my HP elite book. The printer is showing up in control panel as being my default printer. It is showing up as being offline, even though the drop down menu does not show it as being offline. No printers are listed in the device manager.

I have run three computers on my wireless network for a few years now, and have an HP OfficeJet 6500 Wireless printer that has worked seamlessly on all computers. That is, until I secured my router. I had an open wireless connection that I changed to secure (WPA) a couple of weeks ago and have been unable to connect to my printer wirelessly to print. It will print if connected to USB. The first day I was able to enter in my WPA key just fine, but not since. It doesn't appear to be finding my connection. Oddly enough one of our computers (a laptop) is able to print to this printer so I am not sure. All computers are running Windows XP, I believe with SP3. I use a D-link wireless router. I have tried using the HP solutions to no avail and have checked in the documentation that came with the printer. As an aside, I now appear to also have another wireless connection which is a "computer-to-computer" connection, I believe an ad-hoc connection?

I have two computers. My host computer runs Windows 7 64-Bit. Last December I upgraded from Home Premium to Ultimate, which may have changed my configurations though a month before I had to do a complete reinstall of the Home Premium before I acquired the upgrade. My remote computer is XP-Pro. The HP connection is wireless. There is no problem printing; but to use some features the HP on its control panel requires me to enter a proxy address. How can I configure my router settings to fully use the HP web services? At this point, the HP doesn't even update. I cannot access things like apps, ePrint and other web printing functions because of this sudden need for a proxy connection. It doesn't even show the email address for the device.

I have a Linksys E2000 router & a HP Officejet 6500A PLUS all-in-one printer. While printing, at a certain moment, the printer stops printing, rolls the sheet out & act like nothing happened. But, when i use an adhoc connection, the printer works just fine. So i think there has to be something wrong on transport (router?)

I suddenly am unable to print the settings on the My Network Settings. When I click on the print sign nothing happens - it does not register on my printer. I used to be able to do this. My router is WRT54G and my printer is HP Officejet J3680 All- in-One.

I am using a friends wifi network, so I do not have access to the wireless router.I am trying to tether wifi from my laptop, running windows 7, to my pc, running windows vista via a usb cable. Is this at all possible without having direct access to the Wireless router? Both my laptop and pc are completely up to date, but my pc does not have a wireless networking card, so i have been trying to tether the two using a usb cable.

Im trying to setup a cable modem which is also a router that has a printer attached to one of its lan ports. From there it connects to another router which connects to other clients from there i have another router with a VPN connection with other clients. I would like to be able to see everyone on the network. How do I setup the routers in particular the router with the vpn which is the last router. Also the vpn router is connected through its WAN port to the router ahead of it at its lan port so it can use its VPN connection. If it makes it easier lets ignore the cable modem as router and ill find the printer another way of connecting but essentially i need the two other routers for two ip addresses. One for the first router with my regular IP and then the other is for VPN IP.

My power is inevitably going out tonight.I have a generator, but the Cable Companies UPS's drop after 4 hours (it's been that way every single outage so far). So, I'll have to Tether.
My ASUS RT-AC66R can run in AP mode. Can I enable AP mode, have it connect to the Phone, and then the Asus feeds all my gear?If so, will it be wireless only or will it also bind to the Lan.

I have a printer (epson cx6600) I wanted to connect to our router here so everyone can print to it. It only has a usb connector (which you would typically connect to your pc)... I did notice they have usb to lan cables out there and was going to buy one and connect it to the router that way.

Canon T3i hooked up to a laptop running ExtraWebcam and Yawcam.Yawcam running an HTML and Stream output to the network/web.I would like people to be able to access that video from the [the internet + network or internet or network] (those are the options/possibilities and the order in which I'd prefer).I am able to get people to access it via the network, but not the net. I'm using my Samsung Galaxy SIII on Sprint to tether (obviously not tethering if I'm only going to the network). Unfortunately, not only can I not access the stream via the internet, I can't even ping the phone.I'm pretty sure I need to open up/forward some ports, but I understand that that's not possible seeing as it's Sprint's network and not mine.
I will also have access to a local wifi network if there's a way to 'piggyback' off of that for web access to the stream even if I don't have access to the router control panel. I'm not sure if I'll have a hard wire connection to a router or not. I can, however, change the ports that the stream is set to.(also, I can bring a separate wireless router to connect to my tethered computer to open up the internet enabled stream to the network?)Given a laptop with a wifi card, a phone that can tether, a wifi network, and, if necessary, an extra wireless router, how can I stream from Yawcam and make it available to the internet if I DON'T have access to the wifi network's port forwarding? Note that I CAN edit the ports in Yawcam.

I needed a faster router because of expanding peripherals. I bought the EA 4500 because I was told that it was the top of the line and the next thing to sliced bread. I needed a VPN to use with this router but when attempting to subscribe I found out that it was not compatible to with VPN and that I needed a firmware,,,DD-WRT, Tomato or PF-Sense compatibility.....Further research indicates that none of those firmware can work with the EA 4500.

My WAG120N does not allow airprint from ipad/ipod to HP photosmart wireless printer. When i replace the linksys router with an old netgear one all works well and the ipad can find the printer and print. Enable the Linksys router and the printer is no longer found on the ipad. other forums suggest this relates to handling of the Bonjour protocol ... any resolution for this so i dont have to go back to legacy speed on my home wifi?

I purchased a D-Link DGL-4500 to replace my aging WRT54G around a year ago, only to find it nowhere near as reliable. It's been collecting dust since.I'm wondering if there is a way to use it as a wireless bridge so I can connect it to my home network and then use it's ethernet ports to provide network access to several devices.

1. Does Linksys WAG320N support USB printer? Can I connect a printer to USB-port and send some text to print from notebook via wi-fi?
2. The fact is that I have a cheap, simple chinese WiFi-ADSL-modem ZTE, which has 3 modes - low / medium / high for WI-FI signal. So, the signal is transmitted by ZTE at LOW-level is equivalent to signal, which now sends my WAG320N. When I turn ZTE on high-level, then the range of wi-fi signal increases much, comparing with the range given by WAG320N. So, where can I turn on high-mode in my WAG320N?

I just bought an EA-4500 and i am having problems with rebooting the device. Every time I change a setting and the router reboots it never starts up again - and the logo LED doesn't flash, it is on constant. I have to cut the power and wait for about 15 minutes, and then it boots up fine - logo flashing and all.

I currently have a D-Link DGL-4500.
I am looking for a more powerful wireless router that has a larger range. I want to have the ability to use the laptop at the house next door, so I need a range of like 150 ft, going through multiple walls (both concrete and wood) and still have enough for general Internet access.
My first question is if it's even possible and if so, what is a good router/system to use.
I would still need the ability to connect Ethernet to the router (at least 4 ports) and the wireless, obviously.
A major benefit as well would be the ability to install something like pfSense or DD-WRT onto for further management.

I have 4 different OfficeJet Pro 8600's installed in 4 different locations, bought from different vendors. In every case I get the same problem. This is a Networking issue. All printers are wired to the network. The printer is not the cause of the problem. The problem persists even if the printer is off.The problem is that: When computer is left on overnight, the next morning, webpages can not be accessed, and the network communication with the printer is gone. You can not print and you can not browse.

I've got Verizon Triple Play. Basically, my Internet, TV and Phone all come into my house on a Fiber Optic line. Well, I take that back, I don't quite understand what the FiOS Phone really is or how the signaling works.
I have this All-in-One machine, the HP OfficeJet 7310 (link to product information). I hooked it up to my network (printer to router via Ethernet port) the other day and it works great with printing from all of my clients, well the printing does. I haven't tried the scanning portion, yet but I would assume it works just fine. What I didn't hook up, is a phone line to it. I wanted to know if there's a way to fax through my network, thus eliminating the need for a telephone connection. I figured there COULD be a way, if my Phone at some point came through the Fiber Optic.
