Tether Wifi Pc To Pc Via Usb?
Apr 27, 2013
I am using a friends wifi network, so I do not have access to the wireless router.I am trying to tether wifi from my laptop, running windows 7, to my pc, running windows vista via a usb cable. Is this at all possible without having direct access to the Wireless router? Both my laptop and pc are completely up to date, but my pc does not have a wireless networking card, so i have been trying to tether the two using a usb cable.

Canon T3i hooked up to a laptop running ExtraWebcam and Yawcam.Yawcam running an HTML and Stream output to the network/web.I would like people to be able to access that video from the [the internet + network or internet or network] (those are the options/possibilities and the order in which I'd prefer).I am able to get people to access it via the network, but not the net. I'm using my Samsung Galaxy SIII on Sprint to tether (obviously not tethering if I'm only going to the network). Unfortunately, not only can I not access the stream via the internet, I can't even ping the phone.I'm pretty sure I need to open up/forward some ports, but I understand that that's not possible seeing as it's Sprint's network and not mine.
I will also have access to a local wifi network if there's a way to 'piggyback' off of that for web access to the stream even if I don't have access to the router control panel. I'm not sure if I'll have a hard wire connection to a router or not. I can, however, change the ports that the stream is set to.(also, I can bring a separate wireless router to connect to my tethered computer to open up the internet enabled stream to the network?)Given a laptop with a wifi card, a phone that can tether, a wifi network, and, if necessary, an extra wireless router, how can I stream from Yawcam and make it available to the internet if I DON'T have access to the wifi network's port forwarding? Note that I CAN edit the ports in Yawcam.

My power is inevitably going out tonight.I have a generator, but the Cable Companies UPS's drop after 4 hours (it's been that way every single outage so far). So, I'll have to Tether.
My ASUS RT-AC66R can run in AP mode. Can I enable AP mode, have it connect to the Phone, and then the Asus feeds all my gear?If so, will it be wireless only or will it also bind to the Lan.

i just bought an HP Officejet 4500 wireless all-in-one printer. i imagined this would mean that my laptop can print to the printer without a USB cable, but also that the printer itself would not have to "cable" to anything, but rather be wireless and located anywhere in the house. was i wrong? does this printer HAVE to connect physically with the router box?

I work in an office which has a network setup with server and wireless broadband router all plugged into a network switch. This all works fine.
Is there anyway this can be achieved, having a traditional LAN using ethernet with wireless to access internet using the adsl router? I tried a small network switch, but all i get is 'unknown network'. I can connect the laptops together using wireless through the router (But no internet connection) and using the Windows 7 Homegroup function (which gives me web access but not a traditional LAN).

I wife just got the new Kindle Fire and when I was setting it up for WiFi, I had to choose from 9 different connections. This started me wondering how do I find out if someone is "piggy backing" by WiFi. I'm running Windows 7 Pro 64 bit on a PC (not MAC).The router was supplied my Brighthouse to give me the internet, a phone, whole house wireless service, and cable TV. The brand name of the router is UBEE. I think I'm using a secure setup because I have to use a password when I want to install a new device to the system.

Been using an Epson Artisan 800 for years over a long USB cable. Love the thing to pieces, until it broke printing on it's 800th CD or so. Replaced with an Epson Artisan 835 and wanted to it set it up WiFi this time (new office layout doesn't lend well to a USB cable). But I can't see the damn thing on the network! And I don't think it's the printer's fault either, since it's the second one I've tried.Printer says it's connected to the router. Shows full signal strength on front panel. All network connection tests available on the printer's touch screen pass quickly:SSID checkCommunication Mode checkSecurity Mode checkMAC Address Filtering checkSecurity Key/Password checkIP Address checkDetailed IP Setup checkBut my Win 7 box can't see the printer!Running the Epson connection wizard on my Win 7 box failed, so I assigned both static IPs in the router's DHCP panel (192.168.1.101 and .105). The printer's network test page shows the IP stuck. Power cycled both printer and router twice each. No dice. IPconfig shows that the PC's IP stuck too.

My router is a Netgear WNDR3400 running the most recent firmware V1.0.0.16_1.0.34). This is a dual band router. The 5ghz band I have setup in WPA2-psk (AES). The 2.4ghz band I have as unprotected. The two computers I have issues on are both running XP-SP3. The first is a Dell Latitude d600 laptop. The 2nd is a box I put together myself, and uses a Trendnet TEW-423pi (Rev A) wireless card. Both are connecting to the 2.4ghz band. The computers will both connect just fine, but will occasionally drop the WIFI connection for a moment or two, and then reconnect again right away. On both computers, if I look in Event Viewer, i see a System listing under source "tcpip" saying:The system detected that network adapter DEVICETCPIP_{1EEC58ED-1570-4219-B200-8EC4F636910C} was disconnected from the network, and the adapter's network configuration has been released. If the network adapter was not disconnected, this may indicate that it has malfunctioned. Please contact your vendor for updated driversOn the diy-box, I see a slew of events relating to "The Wireless Zero Configuration service" stopping and starting up to 10 times back-and-forth in the same instant as a disconnection.
On the laptop, I do not have that same service listing, but I see a number of updater services (mostly google) doing the same flip-flopping a handful of times within the same second as the tcpip listing. Now, to throw a wrench in the mix, there are a slew of other devices (a printer, a pair of ipod touches, and two windows 7 boxes, plus a number of friends' computers and etc.) that connect regularly and stably on this same network. Both computers have the newest possible drivers.

Have a router called WBR-T2 Wireless ADSL 2+ Gateway. Have been using it for around a year. Has been working great until now. When I attempt to connect to the network using any of the devices in the house (iPod, Laptop and Xbox) the connection is never made despite the connection being visible when searching. The following router lights are ON or OFF:
The power is ON
SYS is ON
DSL is ON
WLAN is ON
USB is OFF
LAN 1, 2, 3, 4 are OFF

I have a guest house in the back. I access the net there through my Dell laptop using WiFi. I have a television there that needs to have its operating system upgraded through the internet. All it has is a LAN connector. How do I get my Laptop to convert the WiFi to LAN so all I need to do is connect a LAN cable between my laptop and the TV? Or do I need to buy something cheap to convert WiFi to LAN?

I've had this setup for years now, custom ssid and password on my router, altho yesterday my pc said i was connected to "Slayer 2" (my ssid is Slayer) i found it weird so i went to wifi settings and i deleted all the ssids in an attempt to re-connect to "Slayer" thing is now, even tho my pc detects my ssid, when i try to connect to it, it says password is wrong. this is very weird cuz i can connect to it on my portable and tablet. My pc stills connects to other ssids with np, so i think the prob is not my network adapter.I've tried to change the ssid, didnt work.tried to change the password and didnt work either.googled a bit and did the winsock reset commands, didnt work either.currently posting this from my pc which has now an ethernet cable coming from the router.

So recently it just kind of cut out on me. I was connected to both at one point, and now whenever I connect to ethernet, I cannot connect to wifi either as it makes ethernet the main source. Currently in college so I do not have access to the routers/modems/servers. I have done a chkdisc run, tried different ethercords (Glowing), antivirus, reinstalled drivers. Whenever I run a diagnostic on both the wifi/ethernet it blames it on the DNS servers, which I do not understand why since I was connected to them just the other day.

So I was wondering if there is something I can do so that I don't have to personally intervene whenever the hotspot turns off. It would be even nicer if it just stayed on 24/7, but I'm willing to settle for a macro or bat file that's scheduled to do this in the morning right before people wake up to their morning google.
So specifically, how to reconnect to my_hotspot_name via command lines instead of mouseclicks? That way I can make a bat file and schedule it to run at 5AM or something like that.

I use windows xp and a BT home hub 2.0, i had my wifi set up so i could enable and disable wifi at my leisure. However every now and then i don't get the option to disable the wifi, so i normally have to reset my default admin password and enter my own password to eventually re use the enable/disabled option. But now i can't even do that so i'm stuck with permanent wifi. I did briefly manage to get the disable/enable option back by reset hub to factory settings but now it has gone again. What can i do? On my home network page where it reads devices currently connected to your BT home hub it has no devices detected for wireless.

I have BT infinity connection with modem /router on ground floor. Wireless signal can be picked up easily until second floor. Third and fourth floors have very poor signal so I have run a cable from modem to top floor - completely hidden so no issues there. On the top floor I have a Netgear network switch FS605 running three cables into three rooms. All works fine. What I want now is to replace the Netgear switch with one that also offers a wi-fi connection so that my iPhone / iPad can connect via wi-fi on the top floor. I still need the wired capability.

Problem: My USB wireless network adapter gets a limited connectivity message in the notification tray but no packets are being sent or recieved. It does, however, recognize my network on the available connections list - so it's not totally dead. When I switch to a wired connection I get "no connections available". This is the case even on a new PCI ethernet controller.
Details:Problem happened after installing new memory and clearing the CMOS (to troubleshoot a problem). LAN is working on a fresh Windows install on a different hard drive. Therefore, I've rulled out a hardware failure as the source of the problem.
Device Manager does not list any problems. Everything is recognized. In Network Connections, three Local Area Connections are present and Windows recognizes when the ethernet cable is plugged in. The hardware lights on the wired NIC function properly.Windows Network Diagnostis reports that "Windows couldn't automatically bind the IP protocol stack to the network adapter" and pings to IP addresses like 192.0.0.1 or 192.168.0.1 get a "transmit failed. General failure" message.Everything is set to obtain IP addresses and DNS automatically. Also, I haven't knowingly changed any settings from the time it was working until it/they stopped working.
Ipconfig doesn't list any information. It just reads: Windows IP Configuration
Host Name..............: Monolith
Primary Dns Suffix...:
Node Type...............: Hybrid[code]....
Where I'm at: I can't figure out why both NICs would be giving me trouble at the same time. It seems like Windows just can't handle anything trying to use TCP/IP no matter what I throw at it. Despite Windows knowing about the hardware and thinking everything is fine, it seems like it can't access it correctly to connect.
