I am having a tough time connecting these two routers wirelessly, i had connected a WRT54G Linksys software to the WRT54G DD-WRT router with no effort. But these two will just not connect.

I have 2 wireless routers. Belkin Wireless G plus mimo Model# F5D9230-4 Ver.3001 and a D-link Dir-615 ver.B2. I am using the Belkin router has my main router. The wife’s laptop and the Wii console connect to the router wirelessly. I also connect a few PC directly to the router via Cat5 cables which runs through most rooms in the house. Since the router is down in the basement in my control panel along side the cable modem and what not. This causes the wireless single to be pretty weak in certain parts of the house. What I was planning on doing is taking the D-link router connecting it to the wall jack upstairs to the internet port on the router. Then setting both routers to static and changing the Belkin router to DHCP?
View 3 Replies View RelatedGuys I want to connect most of my home to a single router located in basement.I got the router from ISP and hooked it with one of those devices that transmit Ethernet via electricity and in the ground floor I hooked WRT54g to the other device (electricity transmitter) and configured WRT with the following:Disabled DHCP so it will be done by the router.
SSID: MainHomeWAN
Security: WPA Shared.
Channel: 11
On the first floor I hooked the WAP54g and configured it as wireless bridge with the same as above and entered the MAC address of WRT device. The only difference is the channel is 6.In ground floor the signal is great but on first is not because it doesn't get an IP and even if it gets one it losses is soon. So I turned WAP device and I got stale connection but very poor.
I do not know how to connect two routers together. One is DLink 618 and other one is Linksys WRT54G.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought a D-Link DIR-655 hoping to get a faster connection over my Netgear WNR2000.I runs mostly fine apart from the occasional freezes and one other problem: youtube video's won't load. I can search and browse youtube, but when I click on the video, the page loads but the video just doesn't load. I can see the play/pause button and the circle telling use the video is loading. Then that's it. Nothing happens. When I plug back my WNR2000, Youtube videos load fine. Same thing on my roommate's laptop. I bought this router over a month ago so I can't return it, spending $80 on a piece of shit like is frustrating when living off a student budget. I'm just about to throw it out the window

I tried to create a network to give acces to my friend laptop when he comes home(he has a mac). I setuped a network with a name and a password. So my friend could find the network name and i gave him the password, but it never works. Another friend of mine also came with an older iBook laptop and the same thing happens.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a crappy router/modem from comcast with two windows machines and a linux web server connected. I also have another router, a Linksys WRT54G with DDWRT firmware with WAN connected to the modem/router. The linux web server has a static IP, configured with /etc/network/interfaces The network goes down randomly. Disconnecting and rebooting the linux web server usually fixes it. It's possible that the WRT54G could be at fault as well.The problem is that I just don't have any information on what is happening on the network. (Well even if I had the information, I'm not sure I would know what to do with it) I installed wireshark, I figure I should just leave it running until the network goes down, then I can go through the packets and see if I see anything weird?

There are three pc's (2 with XP and 1 with vista) and a xbox connected to the switch. All three pc's work fine as long as the xbox is turned off. When I log on with the xbox, one of the pc's (vista) refuses to work on the network.The network and sharing center shows I have a connection to the internet, but it won't load any pages or allow me to connect to the other pc's either.

Since I changed the gateway anyone connecting to our wireless VLAN/network who tries to access the Internet may or may not get a page load. If the page loads it is extremely slow and sometimes the browser page indicator will just spin like it is loading. It's not our access points, if attach an ethernet cable to my laptop and put my switchport in the wireless VLAN I experience the same problem. DNS resolves OK, ping responses are consistent with no drops and access to any internal resources are good. All other LAN VLANs/networks work just fine, it's just Internet access on the wireless VLAN. I see the correct traffic flow in the ASA packet capture. Anything in the ASA Packet inspection related to wireless networking that could be blocked? Is there a way to check for a routing loop possibly?

It has to be coming from my neighbor who's bedroom is about 15 feet away from my router. So unless someone is sitting out on my front lawn to do this then it must be him.I've been looking for software that will notify me when a connection my router is attempted and kudos if it also asks my permission first would be great.There are wifi packet sniffers out there like Cain&Abel, Airsnort, that sort of thing but I am not quite savvy enough nor do I want to turn this into a complicated hobby but just need a basic warningin case something gets past my passwords again

I have an issue with my work laptop connecting to my home network. It will connect to the internet but only briefly and then the connection is dropped. I reset or repair the connection and I can get it to re-connect but then it drops again after only a minute or two. I tried to connect it to the router directly with a cable (turned wireless off) and had the same issue. This laptop has no issues connecting wirelessly at work or to other wi-fi networks I have tried. I have another laptop in the house that has no issues connecting to the home network & internet. The issue seems only to be with this laptop at home. The laptop is a Dell using 64 bit Vista. The router is a D-link DI-524, 802.11g router and I have a DSL connection.

There are a ton of linksys wrt54g routers for cheep and I wondered if I could just move the printer and plug into a wrt54g router to connect to my LAN via a wifi signal rather than directly via ethernet cable. It seems like it should work, however because the wrt54g isn't hooked to a computer I'm not sure that this would work.

View 1 Replies View RelatedYesterday i was playing online on my Xbox 360, and was disconnected from the internet. I came downstairs to reset router/modem, once doing so i went into the router settings for my Linksys WRT54G. My modem by default uses the 192.168.1.1, so my router was 192.168.2.1... So i powercycle, log into router settings through 192.168.2.1 and start setting up my port forwarding for the xbox ports. Saved Settings, and the page would not load to say "Settings Saved". Closed the window and now my pc says no internet connection. I had to create a VPN broadband connection to even use the internet on my pc. I can no longer log into 192.168.2.1 for my router, nor can i access 192.168.1.1 to even get into my modem settings.. I'm using windows 7, and the automatic troubleshooting guide tells me to powercycle my modem. My xbox can still see my wireless network "linksys" but will not connect to it, even with the VPN connection i am still hooked though my router and modem.. Im afraid that my router just out of nowhere "died"..

AirPort Utility 5.5.2, OSX 10.6.6.I can see the cam with the myDlink Lite iPhone (4) App when I am in my house with my wireless network. When I am out, away from my network, the App can't connect to the cam, tells me to check my network settings. I did the wps way and added the cam in the airport base utility *Access Control* tab but still doesn't work. Checked in the cam web page settings, can't figure out what the Pre-Shared Key is and where I get it/set it up in the airport utility...

My ISP is Comcast. I have tried resetting the router with no luck. I have tried to update the drivers but I cannot even log into 192.168.1.1. I am in dire need of the wireless cpability. When I go to the run command and type ipconfig it tells me I have no default gateway.

I powercycled my devices, I changed broadcasting options off and then back on, changed my security mode, tried the MAC Cloning (after doing the MAC Cloning, I lost internet connectivity even through ethernet), resetted my security settings, changed SSID, I'm broadcasting through channel 11 2.462. I also tried deleting the HomeGroup
Important fact: the network is in the list of available wireless network, but Signal Strength is No Signal and I can't connect to it. My network adapter is ASUS 802.11n Wireless LAN Card, drivers are up to date. I've upgraded to the latest router firmware.

I have some shared network folders on my Synology DS410. And then i mapped a network drive to use those folders.But every time i restart my computer i get the message "cannot reconncet all network drives"I have to put in my username and password everytime. I choose Remember login and password.How can i fix this so it automatically connects to these on restart?

I just bought an LG Bluray DVD player (BD390) which is unable to find the access point in my home network.My router is a WRT54G, ver. 2.2, running firmware: Ver.4.21.1. My home network uses high speed cable with two computers on the wireless network, all working with no problems.The router is on the second floor but the two computers and the new BD390 are on the first floor - about 35 feet away. I have the wirelss security set to none and use only the specific computer MAC addresses to allow connection to this network.
I found directions in the forum for a setup using the LG BD390 but with a different Linksys router. I changed the security to WPA (AES); the Beacon interval from 100 to 75; the Fragmentation Threshold from 2346 to 2304; and the RTS Threshold from 2347 to 2307. The DVD wireless connection still failed to find my network. There is a "Push button" connection feature on the BD390 setup which I tried, but the only "button" on the router I could find was in the basic wireless setting, a green icon for the wireless SSID setup. No connection was made there either.
The recommendation connection from the LG manual is for a network cable, but that would be over 50 feet and a real pain to connect, so I would prefer WiFi.

My computer will say that I'm connected to my network, however it says identifying network forever. Same thing with wired. I'm running windows 7...my network adapter cards are as followed : Atheros AR5B97 Wireless Network Adapter and Atheros AR8151 PCI-E gigabit ethernet controller. I've tried to update both of them, with no success. I've uninstalled both of them and reinstalled them, again, with no success.
View 10 Replies View RelatedWell I am typing to you all from my linux box. I have a desktop that runs Windows XP SP3 and have not been able to get it to connect for months now. I use an smc2862w-g USB card to connect from it ordinarily but like I said, it hasn't connected to my home network for months. It reads and connects to my neighbors networks just fine but for some reason it is isolated to my home network. My home router/modem is an Arris model.Today while I was talking to some guys I know in IRC who work the IT field, I got it to work for all of about 10 minutes. The problem is, is that it was an intermittent sync. I noticed that when I were to change channels in my router it would follow to let's say channel 11 but the card would bounce back and forth between 11 and 10 causing intermittent sync. If I changed to channel 4 then it would bounce between that and 5. Channel 6, same thing and so on and so forth. I read somewhere that it could be a problem with conflicting chipsets between the router and card but that doesn't make much sense to me. I've been in the computer field for a few years now as a Security Specialist and tech support agent so this does not add up. [code]

I don't want to connect to a specific pc just join the network itself. When I logged into the router management I thought I would be able to just specify a remote IP address that would be allowed to connect to the LAN as if it were local but there is no obvious way of doing that. View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Windows Vista Service Pack 2, Windows 7 Service Pack 1, and a Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 that I am attempting to connect to each other on my home network. Their WorkGroup is the same name, and on the Vista, and 7, the locations are a home network. Sometimes I see one computer on the other, but then if clicked, it wont connect and gives me a Cannot connect or computername-PC not found. That, or my computers will not show up on one another. I also have McAfee Total Protection with a Home Network option to 'Trust' each PC to be able to connect them in a network within McAfee and scan each one for virus protection. That will not work either. It did once, but not now. All McAfee versions are up to date yet I see on some devices when they sometimes show up on McAfee that the program on the other computer is an older version. Then, when I do get the option to send a request to 'Trust' another PC, I'll enter a password to be re-entered in the other computer, then it'll instruct me to enter it into that other computer but then it fails before I can do so. It'll say the other computer is not available.
