My PC is wireless connected to my modem, My X-Box is wired to my modem, PC detects x-box in home network, X-Box doesn't see PC when running connection test, X-Box however does connect to web. When I plug in an Ethernet Cable from my Modem to my PC the X-Box instantly detects my PC. I can't figure out how to make my x-box communicate with my PC when it's it's half wireless / half wired.
View 1 Repliesi have a little network knowledge but the tp-link wa-500g is proving quite a challenge to set up.i am trying to set it up in client mode to use with the xbox 360.thhe problem is i seem to set everything up correctly but it doesnt actually seem to work or to connect to the main router..which is a sky sagemfast router...(could this maybe be the problem? and if so how could i sort this? i have set a static ip on the tp.link and set up in client mode and "supposedly" connected to the main router in which is hard to figure out if it has or hasnt...also my sky router has wpa security and i am wondering if something has to be configured in my tp-link wa-500g to connect? but i can find no information on this needing to be done.

Every time I try to connect to xbox live the only part that fails is the connecting to xbox live part. This is how my network is set up. I have Cox Cable as my ISP, a Linksys WCG200 gateway(v2), and WRT54GS(v7). The cable wire is connected to the WCG200 gateway, then an Ethernet cable connects the gateway to the WRT54GS router, and finally an Ethernet cable connects the router to my xbox 360. I have contacted Cox, Linksys, and Microsoft about the situation and they all say the problem is the version of the router. Someone told me that I may just need to change the firmware, but I don't know how to do that.

Cant even connect by typing in run command (eg. \192.168.1.10c$) The computer is ON and users have logged on it many times. This same problem happens on many other computers too, and its not permanent. After few days or so, he problem is gone, and sometimes persists after a weekend, when pc is shutdown on Friday. Operating system is windows xp sp2 and there is no third party firewall on remote computers.

One XP machine is a netbook, it's rarely on and presents no issues.Here's the problem I'm having with the other XP machine:-My Win XP PC does not show up in the list of networked computers on any of the other machines on my home network.-But I can still access the shared folders by going to start and typing in \computer name.Win 7 will open a folder containing all the shared folders and I have no problem accessing (and modifying) any of its contents.-I also can access the PC via a VNC client set up on another machine and even have ports properly configured to access it from out of the house-I use this PC as a server to stream music to my iPhone via subsonic. No problem here either-I can access all the other computers from the XP machine in question.Since I can still get to the files this wouldn't be a big deal, except:-I can't map a network drive to the XP machine from the other PCs and I need to-I have an HTPC computer whose software can't find this XP machine because it's not there

Then, for a few weeks, my computer could no longer connect to the said network. It really puzzles me on how this was the case when the laptops and other devices of my other colleagues can connect to the same network, so has my smartphone. When I was doing field work, I usually bring along my laptop and I found out that it had only a specific problem on my office's router since I can connect to other wireless networks. I have TV set box connected to modem router supplied by ISP provider. To the same router I connected EA 4500 to which I wired connected Network Hard Disc at which I store music, photos and films, which I can not access via TV set box. If I connect Hard Disc direct to the modem router to which set box is connected, access works fine.
Whar shall I do to establish accesability of Network Hard Disc over all network ?

The "Local area network connection" is not visible in Network Connections. The Ethernet controller and adapter driver is properly install (no yellow signs). All Network services are also running properly.
The network is working fine, and getting an IP address from DHCP but has to restart the DHCP service once after booting.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Time Warner Cable business class service with no static IP, with a wireless modem which is plugged to a CAT5 distribution panel. On the jacks (2 other rooms on the house) I have a Linksys E3000 and a Linksys Valet router for signal boost and gadgets usage (TV, cameras, etc).The main router (TWC) has it's own external IP which TWC assigns to me and internally distributes via DHCP the range 192.168.0.x. With that said:
- The E3000 has a 192.168.0.6 IP -- this is fixed setup on the TWC router (ubee brand) by MAC address
- The Valet has a 192.168.0.7 IP -- this is fixed setup on the TWC router (ubee brand) by MAC address
- The main router has the 192.168.0.1 as the gateway and web-interface
Whenever I connect something to the E3000, it is distributing the 192.168.1.x range and the valet 192.168.2.x range.That works perfectly for my home based business until I decided to use more stuff on the network such as a IP printer, IP cameras, etc.
- The IP cameras are connected to the E3000 due to signal strength and I have manually assigned them the 192.168.1.15 and 192.168.1.16 IPs and ports 9001 and 9002.
- The printer is connected to the E3000 and I have manually assigned the IP 192.168.1.30.
Issue 1: Port forwarding On the main router (TWC - UBEE) I have tried to setup a port forwarding by informing the Local IP as 192.168.0.6 (E3000 IP), Internal Port 0, Public Interface IP (0.0.0.0), Ext Start Port 9001, Ext End Port 9001, Protocol - Both, Enabled Yes. On the E3000 I did the same config (screen shot attached e3000.png).This is not working properly. I can't get into the camera.
Issue 2: Printer/ The printer is only accessible if I connect to the E3000 (because it is on the 192.168.1.x network)
Issue 3: How to configure all the devices on the same subnet? If I want everyone to be on the 192.168.0.x network, how to configure properly the E3000 and the Valet? I have tried to force them into the same network but it would not work properly. It would not get an IP from the UBEE router (main).
Ive been trying to work this out on XBL forum for a while. all my settings seem to be correct ( UPnP, NAT type: open, no port forwarding or triggering, IP settings on Xbox's are auto).
The two Xbox can play online separately, when either one of them attempts to join the others party it disconnects from Xbox live.
According to the microsoft website, Xbox live only supports the Hardware version 1A and Firmware: 1.00NA.
My router has B1 and 2.00NA. is there a way to downgrade?
Here's the layout: Cable modem in the basement. Several devices in which I'd prefer a wired connection in the basement. Upstairs on the 1st and 2nd floor of the house are many devices in which wifi is fine or preferred.Here's the problem: As you might guess, wifi is weak upstairs and certainly on the patio and 2nd floor. I want to get the modem and router out of my computer room and in the basement where the cable enters the house. I want to do this to clean up the computer room wiring a bit and to run line drops to different rooms in the house where the internet will be utilized.Currently there are two PC's, a laptop, a tablet, sometimes a phone, and an XBOX using the internet. I want to get my printer back up and running on the network but thats another story. Only one PC is currently hardwired. I would like to run two cables into the room with the PC and XBOX that are currently using wireless, at least two into the computer room for the PC and network printer, and one or two into the living room for the blue ray player and possibly an internet tv.

The web server is working great; I can get to my web pages from outside of my home by going to http://MyIpAddress/Anyway, the problem is with the Windows Media Player plugin I'm using. I want to embed 6GB MPEG-2 videos into my web pages. I have some videos on my PC and I want to be able to watch them remotely by connecting into my web page. It works fine when I'm at home; other PCs can connect and play the videos no problem. The problem is when I'm at work. When I'm at work, I go to my web page (via my IP address in a web browser) and the Media Player plugin says "Connecting" for a minute, then it says Ready, but the video will not play. I tried using a smaller, AVI file (680 MB) instead to see if the problem was streaming such a large file, but the video still would not play.Do I need to foward more ports on my router so that Windows Media Player can connect back and get the information it needs?

I can connect to the internet on the Xbox, but not Xbox LIVE. I get an error message stating that my MTU setting must be 1364 or higher. I obviously cannot access the router settings because they are the schools routers and I do not have administrative privileges. So, Is there some other way to modify MTU settings without that access?

I have cable connection with my PC and wireless with my laptop, they both just stop working without any visible reason. I believe I can only use 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.1.255 w/.254 subnet mask. However I already have some servers that are configured with applications (On the 192.168.2.0 network) that I do not want to change ips on because it would be a pain to reconfigure so, my other question is other than using .252 to extend it to 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.3.255, (I need the 192.168.2.0) is there anything I can do? View 2 Replies View RelatedAt the moment I have my home network (192.168.0.0/24) like as below (all connect using straight cables): [code] My Cisco lab equipment are in the basement all connecting to an access server which at the moment is plugged into Switch3-dumb (along with a printer & NAS).What I'm thinking is to replace the Switch3-dumb with a 3550 I'll be picking up later this week.Then using this to do as the Switch3-dumb did maybe by creating a native 'vlan 192' & putting it into a gig interface which will connect to the network using the straight cable, also putting the printer & NAS into the same vlan.This will hopefully still give me connectivity throughout.Then when required I'll like to use the 3550 with the rest of my Cisco equipment for setting up different labs (segmenting them from the home network by using different vlans etc.One of my reasons to implement the 3550 into the home network is to be able to play about on a regular basis (port monitor, traffic stats, etc).
