so my son has been playing xbox for way to long and i am trying to get him to go outside. i want to block the xbox from the network so it disconnects him when he goes on for to long. is there any program that i can use to do this so i dont have to manually take the Ethernet wire from his room every time.

With either console it will start off connected than anywhere from 5-30 minutes later it will disconnect from the internet and not reconnect until the system has been restarted. I have tried disabling media streaming as mentioned in a previous post but this had no effect.
I have access to the router and am able to change settings although I don't know what I would change to fix this.
I've been trying to play Final Fantasy XI on my XBox 360 through this router. I have the latest firmware available. According to FF's tech support I need to port forward TCP and UDP 50000 through 65535. I've done this numerous times on my own and twice through D-Link support and am still getting disconnected.The game plays fine when it's connected directly to the modem, but as I'm not the only person in the house this isn't really an option.
View 3 Replies View RelatedRecently my xbox live connection, which is bridged through my desktop, has been disconnecting about every 10 minutes of online gameplay. Now i want to give as much information possible for the sake of everyone else. Previously when i was running the bridged connection, everything was fine. My old set up was as follows: The computer in my home office is a dell Inspiron 620. The high speed modem it's connected to is a motorola 2210- 02. Then I ran a Netgear Wireless G router (WGR614V10) which all the wireless electronics connect to. The computer in my room is a HP Compaq Presario PC (SR5807C) which connected to the wireless router using a Netgear WPN111V3 wireless USB adapter. From there I ran an ethernet cable from my Xbox 360 into the ethernet port in the back of my PC and bridged the connections. This setup was brutally effective for about 2 years. One day my wireless adapter, connected to the HP Compaq burnt out. This is when the problems began. I replaced it with a Netgear N300 Wireless USB adapter, and the HP Compaq Presario connects to the wireless router just fine and never loses connection. But when I bridged the connections between the computer and the Xbox 360, my xbox live began to go out.... ALL THE TIME.... All the of the above information remains the same except for the new wireless USB adapter (N300). I've tried everthing from restarting the computer, resetting all settings to default (both the 360 and the wireless settings on my computer), port forwarding and triggering by microsoft xbox live recommendations and anything in between. I would have figured with the newer USB adapter my live should be working better but every 10 minutes it disconnects me from xbox live. (When I get disconnected from live, the computer, from what I can tell, remains connected while the bridge encounters all the issues) At the same time apps like netflix and youtube work fine all day and I never get disconnected, only when I'm gaming (COD MW3, Halo Reach, etc.).

The two Xbox can play online separately, when either one of them attempts to join the others party it disconnects from Xbox live.
According to the microsoft website, Xbox live only supports the Hardware version 1A and Firmware: 1.00NA.
My router has B1 and 2.00NA. is there a way to downgrade?

When it goes out, eventually I am unable to connect any of my desktops or laptops wirelessly until I power cycle the modem and the router. But the ones connected by wire work fine.Here is what Ive gone through to trouble shoot:I called my ISP provider, and they said if Im not having problems connected directly to the modem they It works for weeks connected directly with no problems.I called the manufacturer of the router, and they said since it works by wire, and m able to get a connection wirelessly, it not their issue.I upgraded the firmware on the router.I went through 2 different brand new routers (Linksys and DLink), and also tried new adapters.
I tried changing the location of the router, even bringing it 5 feet away from the desktop.I tried playing around with the settings of the router (channel)I even upgraded my Internet connection to 35 mbps which comes with a new modem/gateway which acts as a wireless router too. The new gateway also loses wireless connection.I don know what to do as I ruled out everything. Its not the ISP problem, its not a router issue, and its not a specific computer problem. I just dot know what to do. I really don want to run cables to all of my computers

When I plug in an Ethernet Cable from my Modem to my PC the X-Box instantly detects my PC. I can't figure out how to make my x-box communicate with my PC when it's it's half wireless / half wired.

I can connect to the internet on the Xbox, but not Xbox LIVE. I get an error message stating that my MTU setting must be 1364 or higher. I obviously cannot access the router settings because they are the schools routers and I do not have administrative privileges. So, Is there some other way to modify MTU settings without that access?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have had the virgin media superhub on 30mb broadband for about a month and over the last week I have been disconnecting from my network up to as much as 3 or 4 times a minute or sometimes once in five minutes and other times it just vanishes from the network list for about 30 seconds then re-appears, sometimes when I disconnect it re-connects almost instantly other times I have to wait about a minute or sometimes even longer even though I can permanently see my neighbours network and my laptop does not have this problem.. I payed �50 for a new wireless card to try and fix the problem and it was fine for a few weeks now it is the same. Restarting the router makes no difference and this is happening all constantly over the last week without fail, i have tried updating my wireless drivers and using different wireless cards.

I have a HP laptop running Windows 7. For the last couple of weeks my network adapter keeps disconnecting from Wi-fi. I have not had any issues with my desktop or the other two laptops in our house. I keep re-connecting and when it kicks me off it does a repair check and tells me that it is fixing the network adapter.

My basic problem is that my network (media shares) is disconnecting from WDTVLIVE while steaming shows through playon. However, I can stream 1080p movies that are stored on my PC all day with no problems. Even when the media shares disconnect, network shares (stuff stores on my PC_) are still available and stream fine.

View 1 Replies View Relatedi have a little network knowledge but the tp-link wa-500g is proving quite a challenge to set up.i am trying to set it up in client mode to use with the xbox 360.thhe problem is i seem to set everything up correctly but it doesnt actually seem to work or to connect to the main router..which is a sky sagemfast router...(could this maybe be the problem? and if so how could i sort this? i have set a static ip on the tp.link and set up in client mode and "supposedly" connected to the main router in which is hard to figure out if it has or hasnt...also my sky router has wpa security and i am wondering if something has to be configured in my tp-link wa-500g to connect? but i can find no information on this needing to be done.

I also have an xBox 360 connected wirelessly to the router. The xBox is able to connect to the internet via the router, but it cannot connect to (see) the PC's or the network storage device. It was able to do so with my old wireless router (a Belkin), but it stopped with the DIR-655.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am on the internet, let's say browsing youtube, or play multiplayer games, sometimes my internet will crash and disconnect me, leaving that familiar yellow triangle with an exclamation mark. and that will stay there for about 1-5 minutes and then will reconnect me in. but sometimes it will just keep doing that repeatedly.I've tried to work it out myself, power cycling and everything but nothing seem to work.

My current setup: NetGear Wireless router is connected to my D-Link wired router, and I can access the internet no problem. I came downstairs to reset router/modem, once doing so i went into the router settings for my Linksys WRT54G. My modem by default uses the 192.168.1.1, so my router was 192.168.2.1... So i powercycle, log into router settings through 192.168.2.1 and start setting up my port forwarding for the xbox ports. Saved Settings, and the page would not load to say "Settings Saved". Closed the window and now my pc says no internet connection. I had to create a VPN broadband connection to even use the internet on my pc. I can no longer log into 192.168.2.1 for my router, nor can i access 192.168.1.1 to even get into my modem settings.. I'm using windows 7, and the automatic troubleshooting guide tells me to powercycle my modem. My xbox can still see my wireless network "linksys" but will not connect to it, even with the VPN connection i am still hooked though my router and modem.. Im afraid that my router just out of nowhere "died"..
