Home Network :: VPN Tunnel With Zyxel P-661HW-D And Dynamic IP

Aug 1, 2011

I need to create a VPN tunnel between two offices of the same company. I bought two Zyxel P-661HW-D to create the secure VPN tunnel but the problem is that the two offices has a ADSL connection with dynamic IP. Is possible, with this router, to use a DDNS service to create the VPN tunnel or it' s required to have static IP ?

Home Network :: No Internet Via Dynamic IP?

Feb 16, 2011

If this is the wrong thread for this pasted config, I am sorry. Let me know and I will delete it and move it else where. I just cannot seem to connect my Cisco 2651xm router to the internet from my PC. Here is the output of my config. I have Cox Cable Internet and my IP address is Dynamic but it has lukily stayed "static" if you will since I can remember am plugging in my laptop via straight-through to 2950 switch port fa0/2 and fa0/1 is connected via staright through calbe to router fa0/0. I told my PC to "obtain IP address automatically" since I made my router a DHCP server, but still no internet. I can however, ping the ISP 24.253.136.243, my default-gatewat on the router, 192.168.0.1, and I made a the vative vlan 192.168.0.2 and I can ping all interfaces fine and packets are being sent and received[CODE]

Home Network :: Free Dynamic DNS For Top Level Domain Name?

There seem to be quite a few free dynamic DNS providers for third level domain but I am having trouble finding one for top level domain. I am almost on the verge of actually mapping the top level domain to a CNAME of a third level domain with dynamic DNS but I really don't want to do that.

Home Network :: Connecting Router - Unable To Get Dynamic IP Address

Dec 19, 2011

I have a high speed wireless DSL router from my ISP (Telus). I use one port off the router to connect directly to my desktop computer. Another port is connected to a switch to which ethernet cables to three other rooms are connected. My problem is that when I connect my Bell PVR (9242) to the 'switched' ethernet cable, I'm apparently not able to get a dynamic ip address, which the Bell unit requires, and can't connect to the network.can I connect another router, in place of the switch, to deliver dynamic IP addresses to whatever I connect to the ports in the other rooms in my house?

Home Network :: Belkin F5D8635-4v1 - Access Multiple Servers From One Dynamic IP Address

Jan 23, 2012

I am working with MS Windows 2008 R2 and a Belkin F5D8635-4v1 router.

I have already set up a dynamic IP address which points to my router at home. In my home network I have multiple PC's that I would like to access from the internet. I would like to achieve this without needing to change my port forwarding rules on my router each time...

My thoughts are that I use a single dynamic IP address pointed to my router. My router then forwards to a server with some sort of software that can then forward to the correct PC based on the host name.

So I have 3 domains set up all pointing to the router's IP address:

dest1.domain.com -> 41.xxx.xxx.45
dest2.domain.com -> 41.xxx.xxx.45
dest3.domain.com -> 41.xxx.xxx.45

The router is not smart enough to redirect by host name, so it will just forward everything to 10.0.0.20 The server based at 10.0.0.20 must then have software to now redetermine the target based on the host name. The rules would be set up as follows:

dest1.domain.com -> 10.0.0.22
dest2.domain.com -> 10.0.0.24
dest3.domain.com -> 10.0.0.26

Remove Business VPN Tunnel Access From Home Network?

"disconnect" home network from VPN tunnel to business location due to close of business. We had a business network that we could access from home. We've lost access to the business network, and it seems logical that we should be able to use the home network that is existing, but was fed internet from the office, and "re-direct " it to read just the home network.Currently at home we have a windows XP cmptr with a Netgear router, wireless access box, and Bell South Westell DSL box. How to we basically cut off the VPN link and just get what we have to read the home network?

Setting Web / FTP Home Server With Netgear DGN2200 And Zyxel USG100 With Firewall

Jun 15, 2013

I want to public to the internet a web + ftp server, all running in the same machine that now is a performance pc, in the future will be a qnap nas ts-220. I don't need extreme performance so my ISP gives me only 12 Mb down and 0,8 Mb up. I will use the nas as download station, ftp server and a web server when I'll public a personal site.

this is the config:

-modem/router adsl2+ that connects to the internet. ISP gives me dynamic ip! it has 192.168.0.1 ip and I think it cannot be changed.

-a firewall hardware zyxel usg 100 with all active UTM services. it has default ip 192.168.1.1. the netgear in the "attached devices" see the zyxel as 192.168.0.2, the same ip zyxel says to the wan1 port.

-a pc or, in the future, a nas that now has automatically assigned ip 192.168.1.34.

I must use a free or paied service as dyndns or something else. If the solution to retrieve everytime the dynamic ip is to set the ddns only in the router/modem netgear then it can only use dyndns.org or .com or .it with the dns of the associated ddns service. For example: if I set a dyndns.it account in the netgear I must set also the dns provided by dyndns.it because if I set google dns or something else the service cannot work.At the moment I tested only with a filezilla server running on the pc directly connected to the netgear, no zyxel in this test.

The config is:

netgear with ddns service provided by dyndns.it, activated with the username and password, in the wan I setup the dmz as 192.168.0.2, in the adsl settings setup the dyndns.it IPs. in the services of the netgear also provided a custom service with ports from 60000 to 60050 and created two rules one for outbound and one for inbound where I let data pass from the wan to the server in the lan 192.168.0.2.

filezilla running on the pc with windows 7 x64 with lan ip 192.168.0.2 mask 255.255.255.0 as th3 netgear and gateway of course the netgear 192.168.0.1. dns servers same as provided by dyndns.it. filezilla configured with only one anonym user without password for testing, default listening port is 60000, passive mode active with range 60000-60050 and for retrieving IP I set default, no Dyndns.it host cause it will not work.

So configured it works fine!problem is when I connect the zyxel between the netgear and the server.how change the default ip of zyxel? in configuration - ethernet - lan port is correct to set there the default and static ip to 192.168.0.3? there are many options! same as dmz you can set there the static ip and what ip?also when you want to public a server zyxel don't say nothing about port-forwarding. it says only create two address objects one with ip of the netgear and one with the ip of the dmz port then create a rule in the firewall section where you set wan to dmz and destination and origin ip selecting the two address objects previously created then you are ok...no, really no! and the ip of the firewall rules in the netgear? which ip do you must set? 192.168.0.2? or 192.168.0.5 if you set it up in the dmz port of the zyxel? no, it is a conflict so you must set another ip.to set correctly the server to be visible in the internet with the netgear + zyxel usg 100?

Cisco VPN :: 877 IPSec Tunnel With Dynamic IP Address

Aug 3, 2011

I'm having some trouble configuring 2 cisco routers (877) with ipsec vpn tunnel.The 2 of them are linked to the internet with dynamic adsl's - their ip-addresses changes all the time.when the configuration is based on ip addresses it's working ok, but when I'm trying to use host name with the DDNS feature, it's not coming up, I get a lot of errors...

I've searched google and various posts regarding that issue.It's seems like it's possible to do a dynamic-ip to dynamic-ip ipsec tunnel, but I found zero manuals and configuration.I've added the template that I'm using to configure the tunnel with ip addresses.

Two (Zyxel P2602HWT) Routers On The Same Network?

Feb 17, 2011

I have a an old router that I changed out when I switched over to fibernet that was just gathering dust, so I decided to include it in my network to extend the wireless range, so the signal is stronger throughout the whole house.Now, the only reason I attach it is to extend the wireless distance, nothing more.Both routers are exactly the same (Zyxel P2602HWT), and the second router is connected through an ethernetcable going to the DSL port. I can connect to the SSID just fine, but it's not actually connected to the internet, only locally (as I can configure the router).I have turned OFF DHCP for the second router, that I only intend to use as a second access point.

Home Network :: Advanced Home Network Setup (3 Subnets) And Port Forwarding?

Feb 24, 2013

I have a Time Warner Cable business class service with no static IP, with a wireless modem which is plugged to a CAT5 distribution panel. On the jacks (2 other rooms on the house) I have a Linksys E3000 and a Linksys Valet router for signal boost and gadgets usage (TV, cameras, etc).The main router (TWC) has it's own external IP which TWC assigns to me and internally distributes via DHCP the range 192.168.0.x. With that said:

- The E3000 has a 192.168.0.6 IP -- this is fixed setup on the TWC router (ubee brand) by MAC address
- The Valet has a 192.168.0.7 IP -- this is fixed setup on the TWC router (ubee brand) by MAC address
- The main router has the 192.168.0.1 as the gateway and web-interface

Whenever I connect something to the E3000, it is distributing the 192.168.1.x range and the valet 192.168.2.x range.That works perfectly for my home based business until I decided to use more stuff on the network such as a IP printer, IP cameras, etc.

- The IP cameras are connected to the E3000 due to signal strength and I have manually assigned them the 192.168.1.15 and 192.168.1.16 IPs and ports 9001 and 9002.

- The printer is connected to the E3000 and I have manually assigned the IP 192.168.1.30.

Issue 1: Port forwarding On the main router (TWC - UBEE) I have tried to setup a port forwarding by informing the Local IP as 192.168.0.6 (E3000 IP), Internal Port 0, Public Interface IP (0.0.0.0), Ext Start Port 9001, Ext End Port 9001, Protocol - Both, Enabled Yes. On the E3000 I did the same config (screen shot attached e3000.png).This is not working properly. I can't get into the camera.

Issue 2: Printer/ The printer is only accessible if I connect to the E3000 (because it is on the 192.168.1.x network)

Issue 3: How to configure all the devices on the same subnet? If I want everyone to be on the 192.168.0.x network, how to configure properly the E3000 and the Valet? I have tried to force them into the same network but it would not work properly. It would not get an IP from the UBEE router (main).

Cisco VPN :: ASA5505 - Can't Make Tunnel Connection From LAN Home Side

Oct 6, 2011

I have an ASA 5505 with Base license and a vpn client. The scenario is like this: LAN -- ASA 5505 -- ISP DSL Router---( Internet ) -- Home DSL Router --- LAN -- VPN CLient, The ISP DSL Router gets a public IP address and the ASA gets a private IP address (ISP DSL router doing NAT) and I cant reach the internet with no problem from the LAN´s ASA side but I cant make the vpn tunnel connection from the LAN´s Home side so I told the provider to bridge the ISP DSL Router, to the ASA so the ASA could get the public IP but in order to do that the provider told me to do MAC clonning on the ASA 5505 which I did putting the ISP DSL Router MAC on the ASA. Now the ASA gets the public IP on the outside vlan by DHCP but when I try to make the VPN tunnel I just cannt. I can reach the public IP by ping on the ASA and I can see the pings coming in using debug but I just cant make the vpn client work.

Cisco VPN :: 5550 - Smart Tunnel Link On User Home Page?

Apr 25, 2011

Two part question:  First is there a way to create a smart tunnel link on a user's home page like you have on the main portal page of the ASA 5550?  I see the code that it is using but have not been able to get this to work.  Here is that code;

<a href="javascript: parent.doURL('756767633A2F2F70676B636562712E7070757A702E6265742F50766765766B2F4B72614E63632F6E6867752F79627476612E6E66636B',[{name : 'user', value : 'CSCO_WEBVPN_USERNAME'},{name : 'password', value :

[Code]....

Second question when will MACs be able to auto start smart tunnel when the user first logs into WebVPN?  Right now the only way I know of starting a smart tunnel on a MAC is a link on the main portal page. I am running code 8.3.2.13

Router Cannot Get Dynamic IP From Network

May 7, 2011

I am using Charter and have been at this location for several year. All was well until they added one of those "walled gardens" like Comcast uses.When the cable modem comes on, and the wireless router is turned on, the router has trouble getting it's dynamic IP from the network. If I plug my workstation directly into the cable modem - bingo - IP comes very quickly every time.I have tried multiple cable modems and multiple wireless routers. I use MAC cloning otherwise Charter doesn't give an IP ever. I have tried using both Unicast and Multicast for getting the IP but, it seems like the routers request/respond to DHCP differently than a Windows PC (Vista and 7) does. If a computer and router use DHCP differently? It is weird because when there is a power outage things generally come back on without a hitch. Though if I unplug/plug the devices manually it takes me half an hour or more to get an IP most times.

The web server is working great; I can get to my web pages from outside of my home by going to http://MyIpAddress/Anyway, the problem is with the Windows Media Player plugin I'm using. I want to embed 6GB MPEG-2 videos into my web pages. I have some videos on my PC and I want to be able to watch them remotely by connecting into my web page. It works fine when I'm at home; other PCs can connect and play the videos no problem. The problem is when I'm at work. When I'm at work, I go to my web page (via my IP address in a web browser) and the Media Player plugin says "Connecting" for a minute, then it says Ready, but the video will not play. I tried using a smaller, AVI file (680 MB) instead to see if the problem was streaming such a large file, but the video still would not play.Do I need to foward more ports on my router so that Windows Media Player can connect back and get the information it needs?

Home Network :: Unique Situation With Home Network

Mar 9, 2013

My Set up at home is as follows: [code] Now according to what I have read I should be able to set the subnet on .2.0 network to a subnet of 254 and this gives me 512 Hosts I believe however my question at this point is how to route between 192.168.1.0 and 192.168.2.0.Or when I set the subnet .254 does the router just route it automatically.I would still set the subnet mask on both networks to 254 correct? I believe I can only use 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.1.255 w/.254 subnet mask. However I already have some servers that are configured with applications (On the 192.168.2.0 network) that I do not want to change ips on because it would be a pain to reconfigure so, my other question is other than using .252 to extend it to 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.3.255, (I need the 192.168.2.0) is there anything I can do? Like use 192.168.1.0 with subnet mask of 255.255.254.0 to get the 192.168.2.0 network? The reason I asked is I was using a subnet calculator to try and figure this out but every time I put in 192.168.1.0 with .254 subnet mask it changed the ip to 192.168.0.1 to 192. 168. 1. 255.I would really like to use the netgear only. The way I have it now is not working I am able to ping the internet from the 192.168.1.0 network but I can't ping from 192.168.2.0 network to the 192.168.1.0 network.

Jul 13, 2012
