View 1 Replies View RelatedMy ISP gave me a Thomson THG520 modem when I subscribed to their service. It has 2 links and USB and an Ethernet link. It worked fine with our 2 computers but for several weeks or so I experiencing that it only gives me IP address only on one interface that one that's first plugged into the computer.
If I reset the modem and plug in the USB I get an IP address immediately. If I unplug the USB and plug in the Ethernet cable I don't get an IP address. If I reset again the modem and plug in the Ethernet cable I get an IP address but not on the USB link after I unplug the modem.
EDIT: after entering the modem's administration I realized it's firmware was updated (probably my ISP did it.). Also I read about how this stuff works, there is an evidence that my ISP set the CPE limit to 1. (so it seem only one computer connected to the modem can get IP address while the other can't.). And this configuration is stored on the modem somewhere. Is there a way to view it somehow?
I have a WRV4400n in my company and almost every day I have to reboot so people can get out to the internet, It lets you see the local network also if I put a desktop on line it will not give a DHCP address, untill I reboot the router. then all is fine, It has the latest greates firmware.

View 3 Replies View Related I have an AP Aironet 1140 that have two (2) SSID: (ZDE) and (GUEST). Guest is working fine but ZDE is not giving IP addresses to users attached in this AP. I atached the sh tech of the Ap. From the configuration cisco guide of Aironet 1140 i understand that by default, access points are configured to receive IP settings from a DHCP server on your network. But i don´t know if i have to configure the dhcp server ip addres in the Ap, similar to the ip helper address in switches
Configuring the Access Point to Provide DHCP Service. These sections describe how to configure the wireless device to act as a DHCP server:
•Setting up the DHCP Server, page 5-22
•Monitoring and Maintaining the DHCP Server Access Point, page 5-24
•Setting up the DHCP Server
By default, access points are configured to receive IP settings from a DHCP server on your network. You can also configure an access point to act as a DHCP server to assign IP settings to devices on both your wired and wireless LANs.
The 1100 series access point becomes a mini-DHCP server by default when it is configured with factory default settings and it cannot receive IP settings from a DHCP server. As a mini-DHCP server, the 1100 series access point provides up to 20 IP addresses between 10.0.0.11 and 10.0.0.30 to a PC connected to its Ethernet port and to wireless client devices configured to use no SSID, and with all security settings disabled. The mini-DHCP server feature is disabled automatically when you assign a static IP address to the 1100 series access point. Because it has a console port to simplify initial setup, the 1200 series access point does not become a DHCP server automatically.
RVS4000 router doesnt give out an IP address to a client connecting with QVPN v1.303 (or v1.4..- tried that too), connection seems good, router logs the connection and tracks its duration etc but client side does not get an IP from the RVS4000 side -keeps local LAN ip + there is no access to the remote shares etc. RVS 4000 has DHCP enabled. Both the LInux boxes and the WRT54GL had MTU set to manual, 1492.I replaced the WRTt54GL with the expensive E4200. I set the new router's MTU to manual, 1492. NONE of my Linux boxes ever receive a DHCP address. I look at the logs, and they do DHCPDISCOVER, get DHCPNACK, try several different intervals, and then fail the interface and quit.ALL I did was unhook cables from the WRT54GL and plug into the E4200. Yes, the WRT54GL was powered off. NOTHING was changed in the Linux configs. Yes, DHCP is enabled, address-range assigned, etc. BTW-- one box is dual boot with Win7-- in Win7 (using the same card, obviously), DHCP works just fine. But, Linux doesn't work.
I can give the boxes static IP's, and all is well. Just can't get DHCP to work. I evfen tried putting in DHCP reservations (via MAC assignments) for the E4200-- still doesn't work. The new E4200 is on the 02 firmware (which I believe is cuurent). If I can't iron this simple task out, in a couple of days I'm taking the E4200 back, and getting a refund. I'll stay with my old WRT54GL... it works. Hate to give up on some of the new E4200 features, though.
I've spent months looking for an HD camcorder that could be used as a webcam. Sony has confirmed that none of their camcorders function as webcams and I haven't had much luck with JVC addixxion which turned out to be rubbish. I'm using Windows 7 ultimate.

The D-Link router is connected to the DSL router via 192.168.1.xxx. I need to connect from a computer on the DSL router to the webcam on the D-Link router. I have tried port forwarding on the D-Link to the fixed IP address on of the webcam and accessing via 192.168.1.xxx ort without any luck. I have shut down the firewall on the D-Link.
Both the webcam and the D-Link have fixed IP addresses. I can access the webcam when I am connected to the D-Link router and I can connect to the D-Link router when I when I am connected to the DSL router. But I cannot connect to the webcam on the D-Link router from the DSL router.
I have been trying to connect my webcam inside and outside my network. I had it working until I set up my buffalo router. I see my wireless webcam (1st floor) from my pc (2nd floor). I cannot connect through the internet outside of my network.
I have dyndns service which worked on my android and from pc at work. Now with the Buffalo router I cannot. It appears that DDNS is configured correctly on the Foscam and I have wireless configured on the router - it pics up the MAC address but only displays an * in SSID field that should be "Nursery".
If port forwarding is required, I have it set up, but not sure that is correct. I believe my Buffalo router is the N300 DD-WRT
I have a H.264 web cam with a built in server attached to a 1 watt Powerlink(N) router(bridge) connecting wirelessly outside (100 feet)to my Dlink 655. My computer connects wirelessly(60 feet) through the house via a 1 watt Powerlink USB adapter to the 655 also. It was the Network from hell to get up and going, but it is functional? now.I have the Dlink with a web server port open outputting the video. I can access internal and externally via IE with a Dyndns domain so its all working.Dlink says I'm getting 80-160mbps from the web cam and 25-55mbps from my computer. The Problem: Camera server comes up fine and starts to stream great video for 2-5 seconds then its like the bandwidth gets used up and it gets choppy, stalls for long periods ETC ETC. I have Nat TCP and UDP set to End point independent if that makes a difference.

View 9 Replies View RelatedWhat I'm trying to go for is to make a Static IP so that I can forward my ports in order to play certain games. I have had my ports forwarded at one time with a different ISP (in the same area), however they used cable and the company I'm with now uses DSL. The company "Hawaiian Telcom" has provided me with a Motorola 2210 modem/router. I have had trouble trying to create a static IP with this router so (sorry if this was a stupid move) I decided to buy a linksys router to try to port forward with that. When my ports were forwarded with the previous ISP I was using a linksys router then. The now aged linksys router was replaced due to it getting wet, but that's besides the point
View 11 Replies View RelatedWhy is it that the dhcp on my router is no longer able to give out ips or rather it assign them as for as it concerned as it will list say 199.170.0.102 but the device will have none or make up one for it's self and never get the ip that the routers dhcp gave it this happens on all devices. I know power cycling will fix it temporally but usually it will start doing it again in a few hours also I know that I can use a static ip this was my way around this problem but I have one device that won't use nothing but dhcp a printer. I had an old linksys router that did this and I figured it's old it's slow time for a new one after a few months it started, some computers are on the fringe of being able to get a signal but are still fair also even with static ips they sometime stop connecting and we have to disable the connection then reconnect to fix it the router is a dlink 615 dual band set to only G/B because 1 most devices only g 2 the one computer that has a wireless n is 70 ft away and works better with g.

Email from the outside works fine, Email internal to external works fine, email internally (from one emplyee to another internally) will bounce giving a 550 error. After researching this error, I found that several people have had this issue, however, the majority of the fixes didn't work.
