I have a small business and i have all my computers connected via D-Link Des-1016D, a 16 port fast ethernet desktop switch. Yesterday all stop working the router lights were off, the computers couldn't be reached. so went to a store and bought a new one, but now i find someone that said to me that this could be a simply thing to repair and that i could do it myself. But it's some how impossible for me to just open the case.
View 1 RepliesI was doing a moving job for relatives and had to set their network back up. In a state of fatigue I plugged a higher voltage cord into the router by mistake. Now, even with the right cord, the power lights won't come on. It still gets hot , so I know electricity is getting inside. I believe I shorted the Zener diode or blew a capacitor and would like to repair. Problem is, the case is smarter than I am, can't see a way to open it. It's a D-Link Model: DIR-615.

Basically, what is happening is that some users are capitalizing the first letter of their AD username, and it's causing ACS to deny their access due to the case of their username. For example:
Username yyy0h22 grants admin access to a device. However, Username Yyy0h22 denies access to a device.
Is there a way to make it so that no matter uppercase or lowercase, we are giving this person access? Without having to make a different rule for each permutation?
I have been putting up with rubbish wireless signal down one end of my house now for quite some time. So I thought I have a spare wireless router and I could put it down there but I am sure ts not as easy as just plugging it and away you go.

I think the primary and secondary ethernet connections should be configured as trunks. I cannot find anything on CCO about this or on the internet per se. I purchased a WRT160N router last Friday. After setting it up, everything seemed to work fine, but after a couple of hours, the router stopped responding to any requests. The LEDs stayed on as if nothing had happened, but the router was dropping everything coming from both the WAN and a wired LAN interface. Since than, I had to restart it 3 times during the last 3 days.The firmware is 1.53.0, which seems to be the latest firmware for the European market - even when I try to get a newer firmware, this site only offers the US version 1.02.2.Should I update the firmware to the US version 1.02.2 ? Is there any difference between the 1.53.0 and the 1.02.2 version ? Is there a way to restore the original firmware in case the update fails ? I haven't found any link to 1.53.0 version..Also, does this firmware updating affect my warranty ?

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo far I have tried doing a factory reset, power cycling, upgrading my firmware, and changing my channel [even though there weren't any interfering networks on the same channel in my area].
This problem started a while ago and has been going on for several months now. I will lose access to the internet for a brief period of time [1-2 seconds], but this is very annoying. I will exit conversations on MSN, downloads will stop sometimes, and it is virtually impossible to play online multiplayer games since I keep losing connection every five minutes or so.
The connection works just fine when I connect my modem directly to my PC.
I have two d link 604 and want to connect both together so that any pc connected to the repeater can connect to the internet. I am running win xp sp3,p4,2gb,asus p4p800-vm with all updates and firmware of router updated.
View 7 Replies View RelatedAbout 3 or maybe 4 years ago I bought a Dlink DIR-655 wireless router.On the box it listed it as an Xtreme N Gigabit Router, Wireless N (Draft N). I've had two Windows PCs connected to this router by Cat5 with "Intel 82562V-210 10/100 Network Connection" NICs on each set to "Auto detect". The link speed on the NICs show as 100Mbps.Also, I have an MBP and a Windows laptop that connects to this router at times, both with built-in wireless cards.I have Insight Cable and a 20Mbps download and 1.38 upload speeds.This router has worked great for the past years. Since it was getting a little old, I thought I would buy another just like it to have when this one defaults.I ordered a replacement from Amazon. The picture of the router at Amazon was the same as the one I have now.When the router arrived, it was a Dlink DIR-655; however, the router had a different faceplate and larger lights.On the box it listed it as "Xtreme N Gigabit Router". Also listed was N+ 300.
When I set the new DIR-655 up for my LAN and wireless, everything worked OK.However, I noticed the link speed on the NICs had dropped to 10Mbps.I can disable the NIC and then enable, or, unplug and plug in the Cat5 cable, and it will connect at 100Mbps for about 5 seconds and then revert back to 10Mbps.I returned the router to Amazon and purchased another just like it from Office Depot.The same problems are back.I have used the router set-up disk and have done a manual set-up. I cannot get the NICs to connect to the router above 10Mbps.I have turned off wireless, made different settings throughout the router and nothing works.I can set the NICs to 100Mbps full duplex and I get 1.5Mbps download speeds. If I set them to 100 half duplex, I might get 5Mbps.Believe me; I have just about changed every setting on this router with no success. I've turned the firewall, QoS off then on, wireless off and on, put one PC outside the router, but nothing works. Also, firmware is up to date.When I connect my PC direct to Insight modem or connect the original DIR-655, I get 100Mbps on the NIC and 20+Mbps download speed.I cannot get the NICs to connect above 10Mbps on this "new DIR-655" router.
I am having a terrible time getting a good signal from my DLink-DIR655 router to my Samsung HDTV with a linkstick to have access to the apps like Netflix. My router is located about 60 feet away but the signal is sufficient to connect to my laptop located in the same room as the tv. I have been told the router should be no more than 20 feet from the tv and have tried a DWL-G710 range extender but that doesn't work.

I've a new Dlink DIR-632. All ports snif from outside are answering stealth by default. And the port forwarding feature works good.The problem is that I would like to allow a trusted net IP to reach my computer, whatever the request may be (whatever tcp/udp and on any ports). A kind of DMZ just for a precise IP. I tried the inbound filter feature. I've choosen allow, and I've put the remote IP start and end the same IP. It has been added correctly to the list. However, this IP still doesn't seem to be able to access to my computer on any port unless it tries on an already forwarded port.

I have two other laptops connected wirelessly through the same router and have access to the internet, however the regular "J&A" network normally associated with the router cannot be connected to. Instead another wireless signal source called "DLink 4 (dlink)" is the connection point. This automacally disconnects when I unplug the router, so I'm assuming the router works fine, but the network is compromised somehow.

I press the stupid little button on the back of it, the lights go out, one amber one comes on etc. etc. but when I go to 192.168.0.1, everything is still the same!!
Like the passwords are still there and nothing has changed! I thought resetting it was supposed to wipe all that stuff out so you could start from scratch? Also pulled the power cord in and out a zillion times but no way it will reset!
As an aside, I am having no end of problems getting my iPads (2) and iPhones (2) to connect to the wireless network! The "Network Discovery" button will not stay checked and though I have done all the Googling and been into Services to start things running, no way it is going to work!
But I digress, how do I get this fool of a router to reset properly?
I am trying to setup ATT DSL modem through D-Link router Dir-615. I was instructed to use PPPoE and setup username and password in router. When I do, the router does not save my network password, but reverts back to some hidden password. I have tried changing it in Tools, but it keeps reverting. I'm sure this is why I cannot access the internet.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was assisting a friend by trying to set up a wireless password on their network, I have no clue why they didn't have one, and when it did the normal resetting machine protocol after the password setup we lost all internet, we can connect to the wireless network fine but it has no internet. The modem has internet connection as when I link via ethernet I can connect to the internet. DHCP is not enabled on the router, I'm not sure if I have to set that setting on the modem? or frankly how to do that either.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have 3 pc's connected to the router, hard wired in using cat5. When plugging the cable into the router, the router port on front lights up. If I put it in the 3 port, the 3 lights up. If I put it in the #1 port, the port 1 lights up. I believe it means the pc is being detected by the router. If I go to the ip addy for the router (192.168.0.1), it is only showing the pc I am on. The other 2 pc's are not appearing, and they are not able to access the network. If I add a wireless item, like my Iphone, it is detected on the network right away.This only started this morning. I have restarted the pc's, restarted the router, reset the router, moved the cables to different ports, and swapped the cables from one pc to another. The only pc that gets detected in all of this is the one I am on. Regardless of port/ wire.
