This is my first post and I'm not very techy, but our home computer running Windows XP Professional recently lost its connection to the internet and I cannot get it back.This particular desktop computer is connected by a cable to the router. I have two other laptops connected wirelessly through the same router and have access to the internet, however the regular "J&A" network normally associated with the router cannot be connected to. Instead another wireless signal source called "DLink 4 (dlink)" is the connection point. This automacally disconnects when I unplug the router, so I'm assuming the router works fine, but the network is compromised somehow.

I have been putting up with rubbish wireless signal down one end of my house now for quite some time. So I thought I have a spare wireless router and I could put it down there but I am sure ts not as easy as just plugging it and away you go.
Network Setup
Router 1 is a D-Link DIR-655
Router 2 is a D-Link DI-524
I need to know how to setup Router 2 so it basically become just a wireless access point

I have a new Dlink wireless router. Previously I had a Belkin router. The new one was said to have stronger signal. I am not able to connect via wireless to the router from a PC with Windows Vista. It works fine when I use a cable. Then I am able to connect to Internet via the router. Also, I am able to print on a wireless printer. It is also possible to use Internet from an Ipad with wifi.
The Belkin router had a different network, 192.168.2....When the cable is connected I can ping 192.168.0.1 but not when I remove the cable. In Windows Vista the connection has status "connected". When the cable is connected, the ipconfig /all is printed as below. It is a Swedish version. Some translated words:
Trdls = Wireless
Ja = Yes
Nej = No
Frnkopplad = Disconnected

My wireless devices are having a hard time connecting though my router. They see the router and can connect to it but cannot get on the internet. When I go into my router and check Wireless Status to see connected devices the window is empty. Usually if I reboot my router some of my devices will connect but if I leave them idle for any amount of time the connection is dropped. Suggestions. I have Dell 530 desktop running Vist Home Premium and the router is Dlink Dir 615. The desktop has no issues connecting to the internet as it is connected through LAN port

I installed a new DIR 601 last July (2011). It replaced and old Dlink 150 that I have used for a number of years.I connected 2 PC's direct to the router and bought 2 dongles and connected two remote PC's onto it (4 total). They are not all on at the same time - usually. The laptop is a gateway vintage 2004 and has XP on it. It is updated I use it everywhere wireless and not. It works wireless ok everywhere, even McDonalds. When I connect it to the home 601 it connects and connects, etc etc. and never does. I am using WEP and have a security key. I see the network on the network list and click. It does not give me an option to enter the security key and does not give me an error and defaults to "Free Public Wifi" (I think this is the internal card). I am sure the security key is the issue and cannot figure out where to enter it. I haven't looked in the registery but that is a spooky place in which to play and I avoid it. Don't want to run into the Blue Screen Boogy man. I did however do a search of the registry for the network name and came up empty. No surprise. Where do I go to find and update the security key to access the router?

I just got bought a new computer which is in a different room and do not want to run a 100' wire to reach the area... I have a extra router kicking around the Dlink WBR-1310 and I want to connect the two routers in two different rooms, wireless.

I have 2 wireless routers. Belkin Wireless G plus mimo Model# F5D9230-4 Ver.3001 and a D-link Dir-615 ver.B2. I am using the Belkin router has my main router. The wife’s laptop and the Wii console connect to the router wirelessly. I also connect a few PC directly to the router via Cat5 cables which runs through most rooms in the house. Since the router is down in the basement in my control panel along side the cable modem and what not. This causes the wireless single to be pretty weak in certain parts of the house. What I was planning on doing is taking the D-link router connecting it to the wall jack upstairs to the internet port on the router. Then setting both routers to static and changing the Belkin router to DHCP?

So far I have tried doing a factory reset, power cycling, upgrading my firmware, and changing my channel [even though there weren't any interfering networks on the same channel in my area].
This problem started a while ago and has been going on for several months now. I will lose access to the internet for a brief period of time [1-2 seconds], but this is very annoying. I will exit conversations on MSN, downloads will stop sometimes, and it is virtually impossible to play online multiplayer games since I keep losing connection every five minutes or so.
The connection works just fine when I connect my modem directly to my PC.

About 3 or maybe 4 years ago I bought a Dlink DIR-655 wireless router.On the box it listed it as an Xtreme N Gigabit Router, Wireless N (Draft N). I've had two Windows PCs connected to this router by Cat5 with "Intel 82562V-210 10/100 Network Connection" NICs on each set to "Auto detect". The link speed on the NICs show as 100Mbps.Also, I have an MBP and a Windows laptop that connects to this router at times, both with built-in wireless cards.I have Insight Cable and a 20Mbps download and 1.38 upload speeds.This router has worked great for the past years. Since it was getting a little old, I thought I would buy another just like it to have when this one defaults.I ordered a replacement from Amazon. The picture of the router at Amazon was the same as the one I have now.When the router arrived, it was a Dlink DIR-655; however, the router had a different faceplate and larger lights.On the box it listed it as "Xtreme N Gigabit Router". Also listed was N+ 300.
When I set the new DIR-655 up for my LAN and wireless, everything worked OK.However, I noticed the link speed on the NICs had dropped to 10Mbps.I can disable the NIC and then enable, or, unplug and plug in the Cat5 cable, and it will connect at 100Mbps for about 5 seconds and then revert back to 10Mbps.I returned the router to Amazon and purchased another just like it from Office Depot.The same problems are back.I have used the router set-up disk and have done a manual set-up. I cannot get the NICs to connect to the router above 10Mbps.I have turned off wireless, made different settings throughout the router and nothing works.I can set the NICs to 100Mbps full duplex and I get 1.5Mbps download speeds. If I set them to 100 half duplex, I might get 5Mbps.Believe me; I have just about changed every setting on this router with no success. I've turned the firewall, QoS off then on, wireless off and on, put one PC outside the router, but nothing works. Also, firmware is up to date.When I connect my PC direct to Insight modem or connect the original DIR-655, I get 100Mbps on the NIC and 20+Mbps download speed.I cannot get the NICs to connect above 10Mbps on this "new DIR-655" router.

I am having a terrible time getting a good signal from my DLink-DIR655 router to my Samsung HDTV with a linkstick to have access to the apps like Netflix. My router is located about 60 feet away but the signal is sufficient to connect to my laptop located in the same room as the tv. I have been told the router should be no more than 20 feet from the tv and have tried a DWL-G710 range extender but that doesn't work.
