View 1 Replies View RelatedI am on a 4Mbps internet line.i have 3 PCs connected to the internet through a router. i noticed that direct downloads on the 2 PCs that are connected to the router wirelessly are capped at about 50-60kbps/sec per download. just to clarify, i can still achieve a full speed of 400kbps in total, but just that each download is capped at 50-60kbps.however, on the PC that is connected directly to the router via ethernet cable i am able to download well over 150kbps per download.so i don't think it's my ISP that is capping my downloads here, but i can't figure out why downloads would be capped on the wireless PCs. is it some settings on my router? i have everything pretty much set on default. the modem is a D-Link 2640B.

Does it dynamically load balances the internet connection? Sometimes while I'm playing online games on my PC and a few others are using the internet for browsing or Youtube, I lag A LOT. Latency shoots up from 10 to 200. QoS goes to ****. And I only need 0.50-1Mbps to keep a steady online play. This was the problem with my 2Wire. So does the 2640B load balance the bandwidth?our max speed is 3.5Mbps according to the ATT Rep.

After i reset my d-link DSL-2640B router (would this initiate an update?) my x-box would not connect to the internet, There is no problem connecting to the router and the home network. Everything is talking to each other and everything else is connected to the internet including the TV. The router must just be blocking the x-box and only from yesterday. I checked ports that are talked about and i think i set up port triggering, but then noticed the firewall is disabled anyway.
View 10 Replies View Relatedi have a 4Mbps DSL internet connection with 3 PCs connected through a router. 2 are connected wirelessly and the other is wired via an ethernet cable. i noticed that when downloading a file from an international server, the transfer rate on the wireless PCs is 2-3 times slower than on the wired PC. the wireless PC would get about 150-200kb/s, whereas the wired PC can max out to 450kb/s on a single download. however when i download from a local or nearby server instead, the transfer rate on the wireless and wired PCs are the same and can both reach up to 450kb/s per download. i don't understand why the wireless connection is slower to international servers compared to the wired PC.my wireless signal is at 54Mbps with "excellent" strength. i also tested the ping results from both the wireless and wired PCs to international servers and they are pretty much the same.

- the modem/router is a D-Link 2640B
I put in my email address at gmail. Once in a while it will come up, but mostly is filed with pages of ad material.Sometimes when it does come up, it does not come up with the 'from who' really large and the description hard to read as are the message content.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI run a tiny home domain with 1 Windows 2008 R2 server and 2 clients (one for me and one for the hubby). Our server is DC, DNS, and DHCP server (and some other roles). Our clients are both Windows 8 but we use the standalone Chrome installation, version 25.0.1364.152 m.The problem is that on my Windows 8 client, every once in a while (not the same time period each time, but roughly every 6-15 days) I get the error in the title on one site when using Chrome only, which is Gmail. I can access and resolve Google and every other site, and my DNS server itself can resolve Gmail, but not until I flush the DNS of my local client will Gmail work again. Also strangely, I have left it on the morning when it happened before, and when I came home from work it had sorted itself out. The other client, hubby's Win 8 PC, also sometimes gets this issue, but not nearly as often as I do. Flushing the local DNS cache resolves it for him as well.
I used my ISP's DNS servers for forwarding initially, but changed to Google's 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 when this kept happening, and it didn't seem to make a difference. I've enabled scavenging and aging and all sorts and those are faithfully renewing themselves as expected, but as the problem only lies on the clients and never the server, I'm quite lost as to what to try next.I've had a look on the Chrome forums (gulp) and nothing seems to be as specific as this fault

View 3 Replies View RelatedThis is my first post and I'm not very techy, but our home computer running Windows XP Professional recently lost its connection to the internet and I cannot get it back.This particular desktop computer is connected by a cable to the router. I have two other laptops connected wirelessly through the same router and have access to the internet, however the regular "J&A" network normally associated with the router cannot be connected to. Instead another wireless signal source called "DLink 4 (dlink)" is the connection point. This automacally disconnects when I unplug the router, so I'm assuming the router works fine, but the network is compromised somehow.

I have a new Dlink wireless router. Previously I had a Belkin router. The new one was said to have stronger signal. I am not able to connect via wireless to the router from a PC with Windows Vista. It works fine when I use a cable. Then I am able to connect to Internet via the router. Also, I am able to print on a wireless printer. It is also possible to use Internet from an Ipad with wifi.
The Belkin router had a different network, 192.168.2....When the cable is connected I can ping 192.168.0.1 but not when I remove the cable. In Windows Vista the connection has status "connected". When the cable is connected, the ipconfig /all is printed as below. It is a Swedish version. Some translated words:

My wireless devices are having a hard time connecting though my router. They see the router and can connect to it but cannot get on the internet. When I go into my router and check Wireless Status to see connected devices the window is empty. Usually if I reboot my router some of my devices will connect but if I leave them idle for any amount of time the connection is dropped. Suggestions. I have Dell 530 desktop running Vist Home Premium and the router is Dlink Dir 615. The desktop has no issues connecting to the internet as it is connected through LAN port

It replaced and old Dlink 150 that I have used for a number of years.I connected 2 PC's direct to the router and bought 2 dongles and connected two remote PC's onto it (4 total). They are not all on at the same time - usually. The laptop is a gateway vintage 2004 and has XP on it. It is updated I use it everywhere wireless and not. It works wireless ok everywhere, even McDonalds. When I connect it to the home 601 it connects and connects, etc etc. and never does. I am using WEP and have a security key. I see the network on the network list and click. It does not give me an option to enter the security key and does not give me an error and defaults to "Free Public Wifi" (I think this is the internal card). I am sure the security key is the issue and cannot figure out where to enter it. I haven't looked in the registery but that is a spooky place in which to play and I avoid it. Don't want to run into the Blue Screen Boogy man. I did however do a search of the registry for the network name and came up empty. No surprise. Where do I go to find and update the security key to access the router?
