How To Setup One Wired And Two Wireless Routers

Apr 24, 2011

My current setup is a wired connection from modem in office to Linksys WRT54G2v1 in livingroom and from it I have wired connections to Mac & Laptop back into office, Apple TV and another Linksys WRT160Nv3 located in far bedroom. The reason for this setup is that my home has been a vortex of death for wireless and cell receptionI have a guest house on same side of house as far bedroom and in order to get single to the person living there, I put in the WRT160N in the bedroom. This setup works but lately the 54G causing the wired connections to loose internet connectivity. This seems to happen to me every 2 years with Linksys and I end up buying newI purchased a D-Link EBR-2310 v2.01 non wireless router to put in and take all the wired connections off the 54G. But I fear I'll break everything when I try this. How best to treat the Linksys routers if I have the D-Link as the primary router

Setup A Wired Ethernet Connection To A Wireless Belkin Router?

Feb 24, 2011

I'm trying to set up a wired ethernet connection to a wireless Belkin router. The wireless router works fine - I have several devices that will connect wireless with no problem. The hp desktop I'm trying with the wired connection is showing that the ethernet connection is working, but it's not asking for the wireless network name or security code, and the internet will not work?I made sure the desktop was set up to automatically obtain IP addresses, then I did the "ipconfig /flushdns / ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew commands, but it still won't work.

Linksys Wired Router :: BEFSR41 Two Wired Routers In Non-standard Hookup

Sep 14, 2011

I have a home network with a wired BEFSR41 that, for a variety of reasons, MUST be manually IP configured (DHCP off).  All computers and other devices connected to it are manually IP configured.  I desire to add a device that cannot be manually configured, and needs DHCP.  I therefore need to daisy-chain two routers with the second one DHCP on (and manual IP connection to the main network).  The new device needs two-way internet access, but doesn't care if it sees any other current network devices.  I've tried several configurations, none seem to work.

Cisco Routers :: QuickVPN Setup On RV120W Without Changing Internal Setup

Nov 8, 2011

Is there a way to set up Quick VPN on the RV120W without changing the internal subnet? I have just taken over responsibility for a network and I don't know all of the nooks and crannies yet, so I'd rather not change the internal sub net. I've tried setting up a user then changing the LAN settings afterward, but it automatically removed the VPN user when I did so.

Routers / Switches :: Wireless And Wired Connection For The Same Set Of PCs?

Feb 1, 2012

I have 3 PCs (win7-64) connected to a wired gigabit network to achieve fast transfer of large files. Separately, at a distance, I have a modem-router to access the Internet. Internet access for the 3 PCs is achieved with each PC connected wireless to the latter modem router. The 2 networks are running OK and PCs can connect each other on both networks. Question: How can I know and achieve that the gigabit network is used for file transfers and not the slower wireless network? How should configure both routers and PCs to achieve this? I don't need the wireless setup to be a network, just to provide wireless access for each PC and that's it. I used to have the gigabit LAN configured with a Dlink DAP1522 bridge that created a single wireless connection between this wired LAn and the modem-router but it stopped working and I'm pretty done with it.

A server (DNS,DHCP & RRAS with NAT) connected with this router by ip 192.168.1.6 which has another subnet 192.168.10.x for LAN PCs. In this situation everything is fine like internet browsing. Cisco Routers :: SRO527W Wireless And Wired Not Connecting

Mar 5, 2013

in our small office, we are using Cisco SRP527W (Router/ADSL Modem all in one ) and D-Link DGS-1210-16 (ports) as our main network devices, our 3 desktops (Windows XP), Avaya phone system and one Brother MFC 6490CW are wired connected to our D-Link switch, port1 of the switch is connected to lan port 1 of our Cisco router, we also have 3 wireless devices connected to the cisco router throught wireless signal (one Broher MFC J6910DW printer, one laptop with Win7, one all-in-one desktop with Win8), as we know, both Switch and Router support Vlan feature, but at the present, I just use default Vlan (Vlan 1) for all our data traffic, I created a DHCP Pool in Cisco router to provide IP address to all our devices (DHCP Pool: 192.168.30.101 - 192.168.30.250, Default gateway is 192.168.30.254),  All wired or wireless devices can get right IP address, and all of them are able to get on to the internet, the problem is wireless and wired devices can not talk to each other, for example, my laptop is using wireless connection, when I try to ping a desktop which is wired connected to switch, there is no response, however, if I cable connect my laptop to switch, I am able to talk to the desktop and use its shared resource.

It was my understanding that the computers on the second router would not be visible to computers on the first router, the wireless one. My assumption was that this would make it more difficult for someone who got access to the wireless router to also access those computers on the second router.

I cannot for the life of me connect wirelessly with any devices. The router previously worked when it was hooked up to comcast internet, but it was moden->router->my router. When I connect wirelessly on my Windows 7 laptop, it says I connect and that there is internet access. But when I try to load a page it takes me direclty to this website: url.. Comcast says that it is my router that needs configuring properly with xfinity and wants to charge me $39 to provide this wonderful service.

Cisco Routers :: RV220W - Packet Loss (wired And Wireless)

Nov 8, 2011

I have a RV220W with the latest firmware (1.0.2.4) and I loose about one in every 20-40 packets.

I have tried with both wireless/wired, on different ports, laptops, and Ethernet cables.

My configuration is fairly simple:

1.) I reconfigured the default subnet

2.) I setup a WAP on the same vlan (VLAN1)

3.) I setup a WAP on Vlan2 for guests

Other than that, settings are out of box (save a hostname/etc).

just purchased it, and am thinking I'll have to phone Cisco for RMA.... There is a similar thread where people noticed this on wireless (not sure if they tried wired as I have).  RV220W Packet Loss over wireless

Linksys Wired Router :: How To Setup VLANS On RVS4000

Ports 1 and 2 go to family A, and Ports 3 and 4 go to family B.Family A and B have separate routers which are both set to "access point mode". Family A has an ASUS RT-N66U router while family B has a dlink DIR-615. The asus has an "access point mode" while the dlink needs to be set up manually to achieve this. The dlink must also have a static IP adress. The asus can receive ip adress.

Linksys Wired Router :: DHCP Setup On RV042?

Mar 16, 2011

We have a Network set up with a RV042 router. Router is hooked up to Cox Cable and ATT DSL. Currently have 20 computers hooked up to the router all using Static IP addresses. Setup has been in place for over 7 years. I want to set up a Wireless Access point on this network. The problem is, I can't seem to get DHCP to work right even WITHOUT the Wireless Access Point. I have taken one of the computers that works great with a static IP and changed it to be DHCP, I have enabled DHCP on the router and set the from and thru parameters for the IP assignment. The computer will connect and get an IP address and it allows me to see all the INTERNAL servers on the network but going to the Internet is REAL FLAKY. I usually have to refresh 5 or 6 times to get a web page and sometimes even that don't work. If I do get a page to come up there is about a 10% chance that it will bring up a subpage of that page without doing a refresh 5 or 6 times. Its like it won't hold the connection to the Internet. I did notice one thing different in the User Manual of the RV042 that is different than all the other Linksys routers I have worked with. It says that when you enable the DHCP on the router, you then make sure ALL computers hooked to it are set for DHCP. All other routers I have worked with do NOT use that word ALL. Am I missing some setting or is this a binding thing where you are either ALL static or ALL DHCP?

Belkin Routers :: N150 Fast Wired / Ultra Slow Wireless

Mar 5, 2013

I bought my own modem, a Motorolla Extreme something or other, is a DOCSIS 3.0. My router is a Belkin N150. When I plug my desktop computer directly into the router, I get speeds upwards of 50Mbps. The wireless, however, gets about 0.15Mbps download, but as much as 12Mbps upload.

I know it's not computer specific, because I plugged my laptop directly into the modem and got the full speed. AND I put a wireless adaptor on the desktop and got the slower speeds.I live in a densely populated area and there are 27 other (visible) wireless networks available (all locked, unfortunately. Otherwise I wouldn't be in this situation in the first place). So I tried every channel, doing a speedtest with each, and I got almost identical results each time: 0.12-0.17Mbps download, 11-13Mbps upload. I can't imagine that getting only 0.15Mbps could be a result of a channel being clogged, but I tried it anyway;

The user should be able to travel across multiple ROUTER/AP zones without changing connections.

all I got was I have to do something with MAC cloning and SSIDs.
