Internet Disconnects / Need Reboot To Make It Work
Nov 26, 2012
It seems like my internet connection constantly disconnects and I have to restart my computer to get it to work again. I don't think its the internet connection because I've lived in 4 different apartments and this has happened. I'm having to restart my computer at least 4 times a day.Another thing I wanted to add is that it especially happens when I do something that is 'internet intensive' such as youtube or when I am using skype or msn video call.
I have activated Protectlink Web. But today i started to get "router is busy" in all pages, so we restarted the router. That problem was solved but now the the web Protection is no longer working. It says activated but licence status says waiting.
I recentlydeployed a RV220W and got it mostly working for the environment. One issue: remote users connecting from different locations. I set up QuickVPN to accomodate them, which seems to 'kinda' work. 'Kinda' because I have to reboot the RV220W each day before the clients can connect succesfully. The clients run a mix of WinXP-32, WinVista-32 and Win7-64. All other settings in the QuickVPN client have been verified for each user. They each have the latest verion of QuickVPN and the RV220W firmware is at the latest version. The networks at the remote locations are not numbered the same as the host location.
The clients work several times a day, but the RV220W needs to be rebooted every morning. Is this a known problem with a work around? Is there a better solution for VPN access from Vista-32 and Win 7-64?
I have a client that is using a DIR-655 router. He uses Cisco VPN to access his work PC. At first, the only way we could get this to work was by skipping the router and plugging directly in to the modem. This is not ideal - so after receiving no response here to this question - I did the following - I put his PC (by IP) in a DMZ. This has done the trick - but will only work until the next time his IP address changes.
I have an older PC with windows 98 running. I used to have it connected to a modem and a router to get internet access.I recently got a new modem as the old one died and have now Wi-Fi in my home. My newer PC takes advantage of the Wi-Fi but my old PC does not.The new modem does not have a connection for the blue cable (Marked USB in back of modem) that was connecting the old PC to the internet. After reading online I think I need a USB wireless adapter but I am not sure on what I need exactly as my online searches return too much stuff (I went on Ebay).
i have an old hp ipaq pocket pc (really old) but a long time ago i used to have it set up wirelesly to the internet via a D-link DCF-650 W cf card. But i can't get it to find and wireless connects. The card lights aren't flashing there just on they used to flash when I would send or receive data. I can hook to internet through my computer but i want it wireless. I found some drivers for card that i installed through win7 on computer, but how do i make it install to my pocket pc where the card is at?
I have two computers sharing files connected by a wired lan via an Ethernet card. Both are using XP home sp2 OS and neither of them had any Internet connection. I wanted to make one of them connect to a wireless printer so I added an Asus USB (wireless) dongle to that machine only. When first used the dongle sprang into life, connected to a wireless router in another part of the building (also mine, but nothing to do with this network) and downloaded a load of MS updates. Whilst an Internet connection was not really needed on that machine I thought 'all well and good', and proceeded to download MS Security Essentials onto that machine only. Once the printer software was installed on that computer it connected normally with the wireless printer and printed-out fine.It was only when I attempted to connect to the other computer via the hard-wired lan that I found that the connection between them was broken.
make dlink dsl router 2640T to be working as repeater which will be able to receive wifi signals. I've seen one guy using the same dlink dsl-2640T as wifi signal repeater where he was successfully able to receive wifi signals[CODE]
I have DSL on my computer which runs windows 7, using verizon's Westell model 7500. My wife's desktop computer in another room runs windows XP. I purchased a new Linksys USB adapter model N600 which includes an installation disk for her computer. My question: How do I get them to work together so she also has internet connection for her email, etc???
Region : Peru Model : TL-MR3040 Hardware Version : V1Firmware Version : latest ISP : Movistar
Is there any chance to make work HUAWEI E303C with MR3040?I know this model is not in the compatibility list, but when I try connect this modem with the router, it can be identified but it cant be connected. On the logs it appears that there is a problem with dial, APN, but I'm sure I'm introducing the correct values?
Im trying to make a ACE+caching setup work. Ace is running A5(1.2)Content types considered static (like images, stylesheets and javascripts) should be fetched from caches instead of servers.Content from the caches that can be compressed should be compressed by the ACE (stylesheets and javascripts).I am classifying traffic into * static, not compressable (content should be fetched from caches but is already compressed - this class will hold .jpg, .gif, .png, .ico and others - but for this experiment the class is defined with only (a never to be hit) content type .xico* static, compressable (content should be fetched from caches but can be compressed by the ACE - this class will hold .css and .js but for this experiment is defined only with (never to be hit) content types .xjs and .xcssother For statistics purpose I have included a catch all class for everything else (which shold be send to servers) - class-default is configured but will not be hit in this example because of the catch-all class I configured.Since both "STATIC" classes include only content types that has been renamed to content types not used in the real world, I will not expect any hits on those and since WWW.SITENAME.COM:80_STATIC_COMPRESSABLE is the only class configured for compression I expect that nothing will be compressed since there wil be no hits on this class.
This is how it looks in the configuration:
class-map type http loadbalance match-any WWW.SITENAME.COM:80_STATIC_NOT_COMPRESSABLE 10 match http url .*.xico class-map type http loadbalance match-any WWW.SITENAME.COM:80_STATIC_COMPRESSABLE 10 match http url .*.xjs 20 match http url .*.xcss class-map type http loadbalance match-any WWW.SITENAME.COM:80_DEFAULT 10 match http url .*
[code]....
Questions are: Why do I see things being compressed when there is only being accounted hits in a compression:off class ?Why does enabling compression in one class (never being hit) cause hits in other clases to be compressed ?
i'm facing a big problem with my access point WAG54G ver 2.0 ,i just bought it from 2 days but i find alot of problems when i start using it ,i have read all the user guide and the quick install to see how to setup the access point and make it work with my adsl.i have configured all things right using PPPOE and putting my user name and password and then save settings then go to the status and press on connect , but it don't connect with me just i find connecting and adsl link : Down and still making connecting and nothing after that and my adsl led is off haven't any colors ,and when i get again to basic setup i found the password that i put it in the ppoe login is too long , not my password i tried to see what is this password and recover the hidden i found it " d6nw5vlx2pc7st9m ".i don't know what is the problem i tried alot of times to change setting and also the same problem.i think that it's a frim ware problem and i tried install a new updated frimware but everytime trying to install it get installing and suddenly stoped and white page appeard and all the access point is stopping and when restart it the ac power.
1. I could not make an inbound access rule work for RDP. It is configured as follows WAN -> LAN for RDP (TCP 3389) , it didn't work even when I chose "All Traffic".
2. Single Port Forwarding seems to be working though.
3. Destination IP and QoS settings seem to be grayed out, I would like to know why.
I have gone through the docs in creating a static NAT. I have gone into firewall/NAT Rules and set the internal / external entries, set access rules for the various services. However, I am unable to make a connection remotely. Somewhere along the line, I must be missing a command or something.
While i was vaccuming today i accidently touched the power outlet so that the modem and router got restarted. Ever since that the intenet stopped working, it does however connect to the wireless network. On the dlink dir-600 the interet lamp is glowing orange. We have restarted it countless times waiting 10 sec - 1 hour before plugging it back in.
I am experiencing random disconnects from the internet -- they have been occurring about 1-3 times per day, although I've just had four in the last 20 minutes.
When the internet disconnects: - Both the LAN & the WAN are affected, but I do not lose any wireless connectivity with the router itself. - I am able to log into the router wirelessly but cannot access the modem. - If I plug my laptop directly into the modem, I can connect to the internet. - When I reboot (using the on/off switch on the surge protector), everything comes back up.
There are a couple of other wireless routers nearby with fairly strong signals, but they appear to be running on different channels.
My phones are DECT 6.0, so there shouldn't be any interference problems with those.
I've been poking around this forum, and have already made some setting changes that seem to be consistently recommended: - Ensured DNS IP addresses are being filled in under Setup/Internet/Manual - Turned off ALL QoS (DIR only) GameFuel (DGL only and if ON.) options. Advanced/QoS or Gamefuel. - Turned off Advanced DNS Services - Turned on DNS Relay under Setup/Networking. - Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices on the router. - Ensured devices are set to auto obtain an IP address. - Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP. - Using mixed G and N signal mode - My security setting is WPA-Personal. WPA2-PSK
I have 2 computers connected to the router (via cable). The problem is that have to reboot the router several times per day because one or both computers lose their internet connection. This happens regardless if one or two computers are turned on.

A few weeks ago, I noticed that my Internet connection had slowed down to a crawl. I waited a few days hoping it would go away on its own, but it didn't get better. So I asked this question about how to make it faster.
The problem went away after I updated to the latest firmware, so I didn't follow up too carefully. But every few days since then, my Internet has slowed down again. Unlike before, all I have to do to fix it is open the router administration page and press the "Reboot" button. Nothing else seems to work, though I'm sure there are options I haven't tried.
If it makes a difference, my girlfriend and I both transfer large amounts of data fairly routinely for school (videoconferencing, downloading entire recorded lectures).
The router is a Cisco/Linksys WRT160N v3 that's about a year old. Most of the time, it deals with just two standard Windows 7 laptops.
What could be causing these slowdowns, and how can I get rid of them?
I installed dd-wrt on my router, and I seem to be getting higher and more consistent speeds. Perhaps more importantly, my memory use is fairly constant.
we have 2 laptops in the house and one console, One laptop and the console are fine, but the other laptop disconnects from the internet every few minutes, both laptops are connecting wirelessly, the router settings and modem are fine,
I have a situation that i would like a more experienced opinion on. We have 2 desktop computers in the house and do have a wireless router. Both of our computers are wired to the router, the wireless is generally only used for our iPad, and we have cable internet from Comcast. Whenever my fiance connects to World of Warcraft our internet disconnects and she needs to re-set the modem and the router. It is worth noting that not just the wireless disconnects but internet access all together is gone. What is likely the cause of this? I tend to lean toward a bad router but it only happens with this one program, so far, so i am also concerned it could be some sort of malicious virus/spyware.
I keep getting disconnect from the internet about every 10-15 minutes.I had a tech from cableone come over yesterday he installed all new wiring and a new modem.how can i tell if it's my computer that is the problem or if it's just a service i need to get rid of?
I've been having an issue recently which is causing my internet to disconnect for under 20 seconds 1-5 times a day. This can be troublesome when online gaming, as I am normally disconnected from the server.
Our telephone point is downstairs in the lounge. We then have a long lead which we have run from the Eircom point in the lounge to upstairs into our son's room. This lead has a splitter on the end which is in our sons room. We have the Eircom modem connected to the splitter and to our sons computer, which is a Dell XPS 630 and which has no built in modem. The cordless telephone is connected to the other port on the splitter. The splitter has two ports one for telephone one for broadband. We also have another PC and two laptops. The second PC and the laptops are wireless.
The problem seems to happen when our son is in the middle of a game (he's a bit World of Warcraft gamer!) and I then use the phone and he loses the connection and then there's troublWe have had the line tested by our telephone/broadband provider and have tried connecting the telephone and the modem directly into the telephone point and we have been told there is no fault on the Eircom line. We only become aware of the problem when he's gaming and the phone is used
i have a fiber optics 75mbps internet , using a wireless n pcie adaptor on my computer,Dont know why but some times theres random ping spikes when im in game.Sometimes internet randomly dcs.Download speed is also very random from 2mb/s to few bytes. Also sometimes internet speed is so low that it is barely usable.
I have a D-link DIR 615 and 2 laptops, a Toshiba (Vista) at about 35 ft away and a Dell (XP) about 15 ft away from the router. Both laptops connect to the router. The Dell w/ 4 or 5 bars and the Toshiba usually 2 bars. They stay connected to the router but lose the internet regularly. Anywhere from every day or two or 3 and 4 times a day. Usually shutting off the router for 10 seconds and turning it on again will reconnect to the internet but sometimes it takes up to 4 or more times and resetting the router before it works again. This happened when I was on a different cable network at a different address last year.
My pc has been running perfectly fine. My only problem is that it suddenly shuts down whenever my internet disconnects at random. i am totally clueless of what's happening with my machine. it worries me a lot for I think improper pc shut downs may cause damage to the hard drive. I use internet thru DSL service. My pc specs are as follows; AMD 64x2 dual core processor 5200+, 2.71 Ghz,120G seagate sata hd, 1Gig RAM,Nvidia Geforce 6150SE.
