I can browse web pages and such, but i can't watch any videos or download bigger files. The videos usually play for about 4 seconds and files download about 3 MB before it just loads forever. I go to control panel and look at the network connections, and while the LAN is connected, the internet gateway just says "connecting".

I configured the Gateway to Gateway VPN exactly as it was before but none of the three other RV082's will connect. I have tried deleting the connections several times to no avail. I have aggressive mode disabled and have tried with the firewall on and off. Below are the settings (IP's have been X'd out) and the log.

I have a desktop computer that I have used for years and it has always worked just fine. We have AT&T (DSL, not cable) and it used to connect just fine but then I moved out, left everything plugged in exactly as it was and when I came back it wouldn't connect.It connects to the LAN but not to the internet. When I go in cmd to type ipconfig the DNS suffix is blank on that computer but says gateway.2wire.net on my wireless laptop. I eventually disabled UPnP on it because that's what alot of people were saying fixed the problem but it didn't fix anything. View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a win 7 netbook that I recently got and for some reason it suddenly cannot keep a connection to the internet. It used to keep a connection before but now I keep getting the error the default gateway is not available about every ten minutes while connected which of course is very frustrating.
I've tried updating all associated drivers but apparently that hasn't changed anything. I've tried restarting the computer and tried different connections. I know its nothing to do with the internet connection I'm trying to connect to as other devices are able to keep a connection with no issue.
Anyway, a neighbour is letting us share their broadband by way of a wifi connection (on a very long USB lead into the front garden...) but this only works on one PC.The PC is right next to the Orange router (Brightbox) but so far I've failed to do anything like bridge the connections from wifi to ethernet to the router and beyond. Should I persevere with this? I don't understand how this would work in terms of DHCP and routing IP traffic.I'm prepared to buy new kit if necessary (but not much). Most of my equipment is wifi enabled but due to the signal strength of my neighbour's wifi you have to be on the front lawn to get a signal.

I had to restore my laptop yesterday and i reset my router (WRT100). I ran all the Microsoft updates, but I didn't do anything with the router other than going to the Linksys site to try to make it secure. My computer seems to be recognizing the router (although it is still saying it is an unsecured connection) but I cannot get on the internet. The problem seems to be when I pull up the Network Connections window the "Internet Gateway-Internet Connection" is showing disabled. I cannot enable.Everytime I try, it says "connecting...Connection failed!". I can plug the ethernet from the modem to the computer and it works and the "Internet Gateway" doesn't appear, but when I try through the router it does. I want to set up the router because I have two computers that need internet access.
Three connections are listed--Wireless Access, LAN, and 1394 Connection. All are listed as connected, firewalled.The second computer is also giving me a problem. There is the wireless issue, but when I connect the ethernet from the computer directly to the modem I am asked if I want to connect via Broadband and am asked for a username/password. There is no username/password. I've contacted my ISP (Cox cable) and confimred there is no password.
I have a very interesting problem, that I cannot figure out at all after trying test after test. The problem in a nutshell:I connect a wireless access point to our network and within 10-15 minutes any wired LAN users internet connection goes down, yet the wireless internet works fine.Here is how our small business network is setup:1. We have a Server 2000 that serves as our companies domain controller and DHCP (I know, I know..dated). We also have another server on our network, which is a Server 2003, which is primarily a backup domain to our Server 2000 and hosts Quickbooks that our employees use and a small intranet website via ISS. 2. I have configured the AP to be just that, an access point to broadcast wirelessly and made sure that DHCP is turned off on the router. I set it to a static ip of 192.168.1.215 and subnet of 255.255.255.0 and our default gateway of 192.168.1.2. Once I connect it, everything works fine for about 20-30 minutes, then our LAN internet goes down. The Wireless G access point that I am using is a TP-Link Model TL-WA501G.

View 8 Replies View Relatedsince last nite my router E1200 has been having speed up and down problems.first it goes to 150mb/s then back down to 1 for a few minutes, usualy its stuck at 72mb/s which is a far cry from its rated 300mbps but qi'd rahter have that than 1-2mbps.i'd be happy with 150mbps but that only lasts 5mins then goes down to 1-2mbps and i have to reset my connection.

I found that if I add a static route for the tunnel destination via fa0/0, the public facing interface, the tunnel comes up..ip route 10.23.4.2 255. 255. 255. 255 FastEthernet0/0
and I can then ping the tunnel IP at the far end - 10.23.0.5.Why would that be? Is there a better way to do this without using a default route??

It gives the "Limited or no connectivity" message, even if the ethernet cable is unplugged (no "a cable has been unplugged" message)
The laptop is plugged in to an EWIRE modem/router. Desktop connects fine via ethernet, as does my PlayStation 3 console via wireless. So I don't think it has to do with the modem/router. It's a Compaq from 2005 or so. Windows XP Pro SP3.

I have a general knowledge of fixing the typical internet connection problem (obtain DNS automatically, repair connection, unplug modem for 20 seconds, etc) but I've never been this stumped before.
I have a server (Windows Server 2003) that randomly looses connection with the default gateway and anything on the outside. When this happens, the server cant ping the gateway (A Juniper SSG5 firewall/router) and the gateway cant ping the server. But the server still can ping anything else on the network and everything inside the network works fine with it. The most reliable remedy is to reboot the router. Rebooting the server or resetting the network card sometimes works. I have tried both onboard network cards and a separate PCI network card on the server. There are no router log entries that correspond to the problem. This server is used as a Terminal Server for a remote office and as a file server.

What im thinking is we hook each gateway up to a host pc (server) and go out from there to a switch (one line dedicated input, the other output as to not clog throughput), then from the switch out to two pc's in the house. phones xbox ect can use its own router(s) in theory would this work.

1. I would like to keep the VPN tunnel connection time indefinite. Is it sufficient by checking the "Keep-Alive" box on the VPN -> Gateway To Gateway -> Advance page? Or, I have to ping the RV042 periodically?
2. Do the "Phase 1/Phase 2 SA Life Time" (on VPN -> Gateway To Gateway page) settings have any impact on keeping the VPN connection time indefinite? What are the optimal values for them?
3. Is there an API, command, or script to replace a manual clicking on the "CONNECT" button to establish the VPN tunnel from the VPN -> Summary page? Or, is there a way to accomplish this at power up?
4. Is there a way to establish a VPN tunnel without going through login and clicking the "CONNECT" button? (Auto connect at power up?)
This is the message I get when diagnosing my hardwire connection to the internet. I just got this computer yesterday and it worked find. I allowed it to implement all the windows updates during the afternoon. I don't recall if the hardwired connection stopped working after all the updates occurred. Today, when I started up the computer, there is no hard wire internet connection. The computer has a wireless connection option and fortunately that works. I called tech support and they said they would just send me a refund, thinking it's the network card. But, the tech seemed not to have much knowledge or interest in trying to fix the problem. I uninstalled the adapter in device manager and let it reinstall itself. It says its working properly.
PS Computer is a Gateway SX2803 desktop with Windows Home 7 Premium
