Jul 7, 2012I have a wireless audio system using several Apple Airport Express boxes currently communicating using 802.11g through my Verizon FiOS MI424WR (Actiontec) router. I also have wireless security cameras and several laptops on the same connection. I occasionally have audio dropouts I suspect due to wireless bandwidth limitations. I have a Netgear WNR3500 Wireless-N Gigabit router that I would like to hang off of the Verizon router and move the Airport Expresses, which are 802.11N capable, to its Wi-fi connection. This would keep my audio streams separate from the video and other wireless traffic and take advantage of the 802.11N.I in configuring the router/s to facilitate this arrangement. I have numerous Windows machines (XP and Windows 7), mostly hardwired, on my main network along with a NAS containing my audio library. So all devices need to be able to see all other devices.

Jan 20, 2013I connected EA6500 internet port to actiontec router provided by Verizon fios. I don't have any other way to connect as FIOS connection is coax to actiontec modem. I must take a drop from actiontec to internet port on EA6500.
With that said, I can't get EA6500 to work, it keeps saying no internet. The only way I can get it to work is when I set it to bridge mode. This makes my EA6500 a dumb switch/access point. I didn't spend $200 for a switch. I need to use advanced features offered by this router but I can't until this problem is fixed. I made sure I am running latest version of firmware (1.1.28.146856).
I have reset my fios router as well as ea6500 to factory defaults multiple times.

Nov 29, 2009I'm trying to configure my Linksys WRT54G2 router as my primary router and have my Actiontec just used for the my FIOS TV (eg VOD, widgets, guide). I've googled many HOWTO's on how to do this but I just cant get it working. So setup up will look like this in th end:

how to set this up? I understand that the STB devices configured on my Actiontec routers is actually my TV receiver and currently configured with the following IP addresses:

I have COAX Ethernet setup so everything is going through ethernet per Verizon phone tech.

May 14, 2012I've been noticing some inconsistencies and weird behavior in my home wifi setup. I'm starting to suspect some kind of serious security issue.Periodically, the router (netgear wnr3500) will become unresponsive and not allow anyone to connect, requiring a reboot of the router. I assumed this was typical death by summer heat.
Recently, I've started noticing that my laptop is connecting to a similarly named wireless network that's unsecured. So, if my ssid is "bobsmith" this would be identified in windows as "bobsmith 2". I thought this was a windows bug, but I suspect windows is automatically connecting to a name and not a sensible unique identifier, despite it being aware that "bobsmith 2" is different so as to rename it.
Today, I was wrestling with my wireless bridge and determined that it wasn't connecting to anything. Refreshing the available ssids, it found "bobsmith 2" (unsecured) instead of "bobsmith" (wpa) - which it is set to connect to.

Jun 1, 2011I have a Netgear wnr3500 for my home network. I have certain sites blocked from inside it, for instance.I even blocked it by exact url. Still gets through then blocked yahoo.com and it was immediately Netgear blocked.It seems this site is fooling my router.

Jun 23, 2011I have a windows vista computer and my internet works through a modem/router. Just a couple of days ago my internet stopped working but the modem connection would always say its on. I've also noticed that the firewall is off and when I try to turn it on, it won't let me. Also, before the internet stopped working .I uninstalled pc tools *because I already had malwarebytes* but I don't know if that has anything to do with the internet not working. I've already tried the basics.. like putting it on safe mode and changing modems but nothing has worked so far.

I have two ps3's hard wierd to the provided router, and one laptop running wirelessly. The problem is this: when the two ps3's are playing call of duty at the same time, whichever ps3 that was turned on first shows it has an open NAT type and whichever ps3 is turned on second shows a moderate NAT type (this makes them unable to play together online). I am familiar with prot forwarding but not sure if i can do this for two separate ps3's. So i hard wired a second router to the old router and ran everything out of the new one. Only now they are both a moderate NAT type. Ive played around with the UPnP settings, but dont really know what else i can do.

Mar 24, 2011I use Bit Torrent to trade Grateful Dead concert recordings (all legit trading). I have Verizon DSL, a Westell 6100G Modem and a Linksys WRT 160N V2 Router. The Modem is located at 192.168.1.1 and the Router at 192.168.2.1. In the router setup page I have properly forwarded and triggered my ports. However, when I visit my torrent site, it tells me that I am firewalled or "NAT". I used to have the Linksys WRT54G Router and it was configured to PPPoE and everything worked fine. One day I did a firmware upgrade on the router and it would no longer connect to the internet. I switched ti to Automatic Configuration - DHCP and it connected, but performance was slow and this NAT issue began. I eventually got the new router and I have the same problem. If I set it to PPPoE, put in he username and password, I lose my internet connection. If set to Automatic Config - DHCP it works, but, again, "NAT".
Verizon told me that this newer modem self configures itself as PPPoE and there is no need to set the router to PPPoE but I can't seem to get these ports forwarded or get around this NAT issue. It is causing a significant loss of performance and while torrenting I can not connect to others, meaning I can not share what I have downloaded (the torrent client won;t upload). I have been screwing with this for months and have spent endless hours on the phone with Verizon - Linksys says my router is out of warranty so they want $39.95/month for tech support.I have been working with the tech support team on my torrent website and they can't get it figured out either.
