I tried putting in for a Return # number for my modem but was told I can't get one even though its under warranty because I can't find the receipt.The modem LAN port 1 keeps dropping to 10mpbs instead of staying at 100. Is there anywhere I can get firmware 1.00.13 for this modem.

But I cannot connect with lan port(checked with all the ports).. Even its not pinging...My system firewall is turned OFF... I am using a straight Cable.. I Updated the firmware.. but same result.. I dont know more about configurations.. Is it hardware issue or configurations?..

It started to upgrade and failed with a garbled screen in my browser. No message to reset. Tried a complete reset several times. Pressing reset, power off for 30 secs. When I attempt to connect wirelessly with browser, just get a garbled screen, with no menus.

I have a D-link wireless-N USB adapter whos MAC address starts with 1C:xx:xx:etc. Unfortunately the QOS GUI does not allow me to enter a MAC address that starts with anything but a zero (0). This is a javascript verification so I guess it would be fairly simple to modify this. Is it possible to have the firmware updated so these MAC addresses are accepted?
Basically sometimes I suffer from serious lag! I want to best setting to get the most out of my modem. What are the reccomended setting for this modem?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using the Linksys Wag325N which always served me well. I've always been able to get my VPN to my workplace going. Until now. I've edited a hostfile on my mac (etc/ppp/ip-up) to get a route setup to be able to use internet and the vpn at the same time. But now the vpn would work no more. Why do i think that it is a router problem? Because other computers in my home network aren't able to establish the vpn they used to work with for a long time.
1. is it possible that my /etc/ppp/ip-up on my computer messes up the router?
2. Is there a way to completely reset my router? Tried "restore to factory settings" which did not work. Is there a "harder" reset?
I installed my new X2000 a couple of days ago and my ADSL connection drops several times a day. Sometimes it will stay connected for a few minutes and other times it will stay connected for several hours. The only way to get it connected again is to reboot.I have used 2 other routers (D-Link DIR-300 and BT Home Hub 3.0) on the same line and haven't had any disconnection issues with them, so the problem must be a hardware/software fault on this router or I have set it up incorrectly.Judging by a number of posts I found online, there seems to be a general problem with DSL connections dropping on the X2000, especially on earlier firmware versions. I have subsequently upgraded to the latest firmware (Ver.2.0.01 (Build 4)), reset and reconfigured twice, but nothing has worked so far.Unless I can get this working in the next few days I am going to have to return it, which is a shame because the performance of the router is great when it's working!Would someone be able check I have configured the DSL settings on the router correctly?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently changed my wireless ADSL router to an X3000. One of the main reasons for doing so was its ability to share a disk drive on the network without having to have a computer powered on to host the drive. This has been working OK for a month or two, but now the drive keeps "disappearing".
What I mean is that when a computer tries to access it over the network, it gets a message that the network name cannot be found. If I then log into the router, under the Storage section, there are no drive details showing. I have rebooted the router, and sometimes this restores the situation, sometimes not. Sometimes I have to unplug and replug the USB cable, then do a reboot. The USB drive is a 500GB Western Digital FreeAgent Desktop drive. There is nothing wrong with the drive - if I connect it directly to a computer it all works fine. Typically it drops off overnight. We can be accessing the drive OK on a couple of laptops in the evening, then next morning, "network name not found". The router and the drive remain powered on all the time.
As I said it has worked OK for a month or two, now it appears flakey and very unreliable. This router takes a very long time to reboot, so having to do it often is painful.

Tonight my iPod Touch (iOS5) was connecting okay, while my son's iPod Touches (iOS3 and iOS4) would not. My MacBook Pro would not connect either.
The only to get things working again, is to turn the router off for a few minutes and turn it on again.

I want to know if WAG325N supports cisco's IOS so that i can configure it using command line interface? Is it possible?If not, how would i change ethernet interface speed setting so that it can support 100 mbps of speed. Because when i connect through LAN i'm always getting a full dulplex 10 mbps LAN connection automatically.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been using the WAG54G2 for some time now, recently I set up a range extender and had some issues so one thing I tried was to upgrade the firmware. It was very unclear on this website where to find it (specifically for the G2). I went here but there were 2 files, Annex A or B? [irl].... The instructions are also very unclear on this. But more frustratingly the zip file just contains an ".img" file - no ".bin" as the instructions say. So i tried the manual firmware upgrade using this file and shortly after the message "...whatever you do - do not close the browser or restart the router during the upgrade..." (or similar) the router crashed, so I had to restart it and the browser. Now I think I may have introduced an error as the once perfectly-performing router occasionally drops the internet connection for a few minutes. With my work I need 100% uptime.

Sometimes, it remain connected for 4-5 hours, then drop, or sometimes, it drop every 30min-1hour.I tried upgrading the firmware to 1.00.16, but no luck, it still drop the connection.I have 3 computer plugged to the router via cable(wired) plus 1 netbook(wireless) and 1 ipod (wireless).Sometimes, when 1 computer is turned off, it seem to make the ADSL connection drop when the LAN light turn off. I tried changing the MTU settings in the router to 1492 (my ISP default) but didnt work.
Tried changing the MTU to 1492 on every computer and still got the same problem.For now im using the WAG120N in bridge mode, and still using my old speedstream4200 as ADSL modem.
I have bought a WAG320 & ever since I've had it the ADSL line keeps dropping every few hours. The LAN network is fine & I have 7 computers connected to the router wirelessly. When I press the re-set button on the back of the router everything is fine for a few hours then it starts doing it again?

If I connect my laptop or pc directly into the ISP modem I get a speed of 75mpbs, very happy with that. But if I connect my Sitecom wl-340 router to the ISP modem and then my pc or laptop into the router i can only get 10mpbs! I have connected everything with cat 5 ftp cable.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to open some ports for my webserver, I've configured the static IP and forwarded port 80 to my server's IP and I checked the port on canyouseeme.org and it says it's closed. I've tried multiple ports (21, 22, 7878 whatever) and all do the same thing.
So my next step was to try DMZ on the server's IP .. still no happiness .. ports stay closed. I checked this on multiple computers and it still won't open any ports for any machines on my network.
Updated to the latest firmware .. didn't make a difference. My ISP doesn't block any ports (didn't have any issues on my old router.
I recently swapped routers from a dlink to a Cisco WAG120N, from what I can see the wireless is flaky on this device and has led me to switching the wireless off for my sanity and to stop the complaints of my family when they attached to an access point that suddenly disappeared and then reappeared and disappeared, you get the picture.
What I cannot understand is why when it comes to port forwarding did the developers add the local LAN prefix so for example as default the local LAN interface is 192.168.1.1 and the port forwarding screen is completed to forward a port to a host with address 192.168.1.X by stipulating the prefix I am unable to use the router to port forward to hosts that live beyond by local LAN.This added to the wireless being disabled is becoming a very expensive branded door stop.
I got a spare WAG160N lying around which I want to test to see if I can get a better range with it than my current router.My internet is connected via a cable modem which I connect to the ethernet port 1 on the WAG160N - which in my experience with other wireless routers - will work and broadcasts internet through wifi. However I can't seem to get it to work.After doing a bit of searching I found that some people say this isn't possible on the WAG160N while others say it's possible if I switch the port 1 to "Use as WAN port" in the ethernet setting tab page (Tried it, still doesn't work). I can obviously connect to the router setting page but no internet is flowing through (And the internet LED does not light up)
What settings do I need to use to make this work or is it indeed impossible? It's in bridge mode only at the moment with other settings untouched from factory defaults.One person says it's possible but I can only get it to work with 1 device because it's assigning the public IP on the cable modem onto the one device - but I couldn't get this to work either.
Got BT Infinity installed today, thought I would ditch the Home-hub 3 and go back to my tried and tested WAG320N. Got it configured, set the first ethernet port to WAN and got a connection.Ran speed test.net and comes out at 26Mbit.using the Home-hub 3.0 I get 37.5MBit.

Then I came home to my apartment which provides wifi free to the building and i cannot stay connected and sometimes cannot even connect. I do not have access to the router but other devices using the wifi here are able to hold a connection. The network is a public one btw (don't know if it matters)
I have my power set to max performance for network connectivity and like i said this computer is less than a week old.

View 1 Replies View Relatedapparantly there is a bug in WAG160Nv2 firmware (version:V2.00.20 which is the latest). we had problem connecting to an outside smtp server using telnet. then out of frustration i reset the router to factory settings. then suddenly connecting to smtp server on port 25 was not a problem. then a few hours later, without doing any special changes to the settings, it's now again not possible to telnet to external server. apparantly something prevents outbound connections to port 25 to be established

Accept port [some number] from [some Internet address] into 192.168.1.2 but reject attempts from others.I thought it might be in Access Restrictions but that only covers internal IP addresses.
