I am trying to install a WPC54G adapter in a Compaq EVO N610C Laptop with Windows XP SP3 and it has a Texas Instrument PCI-1420 CardBus Controller. Adapter is inactive. I have uninstalled, reinstalled, download updated drivers from Linksys.
View 1 RepliesI've spent several hours of my life trying to rectify this silly problem without peace. Maybe one of you can enlighten me. I've got a Win98 laptop and have loaded the driver specified from the Linksys website. The software from the website under "Version 1" downloads a file entitled "...driver utility v3.1." I've installed and uninstalled it 3 times with restarts inbetween. Each time Device Mngr shows it is installed correctly but the "inactive" status persists. I get a "Power" light indicator but never the "Link" indicator on the adapter. I do not have a firewall or any other software that would interfere with the access point I have at my home (which works just fine with my Vista laptop). Furthermore, the wireless router is not secured either, so it is wide open and broadcasting. But as I said, the adaptor isn't even showing as "active" so all that stuff is moot I guess. I can not upgrade the laptop to another OS, it is an antique from 1999 and can't cut the mustard with the RAM and processor speed it has. Besides, it should work just fine with Win98 anyway.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI run the CD setup disk and the driver install correctly.In the "Connecting the Adapter" screen I click next before connecting the adapter,the setup screen just close with out any notification and no icons on the system tray.I shut down the machine, insert the adapter and power on the machine,now I have the monitor icon and a wireless connection icon in the system tray (the Power led is green and the Link led isblink),when I double click on the monitor icon I got the following screen: no available wireless and the refresh, connect and manual setup are disabled.when I click on the "open the monitor" form the right click menu I got the following screen: also nothing to do on this screen.so I think it's was because I don't have any wi-fi around me, I shutdown the computer raise my wi-fi andrestart the machine, now the led in the same status but the system tray icons didn't appears and when Itry to open it from the menu it's run for few seconds without any screen and disappear.

I just got this wireless notebook card off of ebay, and it did not come with a cd. After just plugging it in it would not install, so then I downloaded the drivers and transfered them to my laptop through a usb drive. I setup the program the best I could and now it says "WPC54G not installed" and "No association with Access Point" on the link information page. How I can install this wireless card?

I read the forums and have been googling all morning and I found one topic that said that version 3 (Vista compatible) WPC54G_V31_driver_4.100.15.5_vista.exe..will work with ver 4. I have tried it and my adapter will still not see the files in the extracted folder. There's 5 files in the folder and when I do the hardware/update driver method it won't see the drivers. I have tried all the other version and none will load??
How can I get this driver to work with my Windows XP? I don't have the CD anymore.
I have a WPC54G ver. 2 adapter I am trying to get to work on a thinkpad T22 running W2kPRO with all the SPs and updates installed. The power light comes on, but the link light does not. I am using a Linksys WRT54GS wireless router. The monitor icon shows in the taskbar and when I open it, it says the adapter is inactive. I have tried several time to download and install the driver for the Linksys site. It seems to install OK, but when I go back and check the Drivers tab to verify that the driver version has changed to 3.20.21.0, it is still version 6.0.0.18.
View 4 Replies View RelatedHave an old laptop running XPSP2 with a WPC54G V1.2 card that I use for email when traveling. Had no problems accessing my old home network that ran off of a WRT54G V 5.0 wireless router, nor with any of the "motel wireless networks" when I travel. I changed ISPs and now have an Actiontec PK5000 wireless router.
When I attempt to connect I get an error message "unable to acquire network address."
This new router has the following 64 bit and 128 bit settings
wpa-wpa2 personal
wpa personal
wpa2 personal
wep
security off
Using any of the security settings I get the error. Turning off security allows me to connect fine.
I realize this is a pretty old wireless card so is it possible it doesn't work with the current encryption standards but I would have thought that wep would have worked. The driver for the card is V3.3.15.0 which is also old. Would updating the driver work and if so what driver? If a new card is the only way any recommendations for an inexpensive card?
I use a WPC54G wireless adaptor to connect a laptop to my home network. I just replaced a WRT54G2 router with a Cisco Valet router.When I start up the laptop, the wireless adaptor's Monitor configuration takes priority over Windows XP wireless configuration, but the Cisco Valet does not recognize the Monitor. If I disable the Monitor, everything is fine until I reboot, and then the Monitor again prevents connecting to the router.
How do I permanently disable the Monitor software so that the laptop will default to the Windows XP wireless configuration settings?
I have a ThinkPad running 2000PRO that I just installed a WPX54G Notebook Adapter. After installing and restarting the computer I get a window saying External exception E06D7363. Also, when I go into configure it says the adapter is inactive. When the computer first starts up the icon for the adapter is green then turns gray.

So long ago i bought a Linksys by Cisco Wireless-G Notebook Adapter WPC54G v.1.2 but didn't have time to set it up or use it for travelling conditions. A couple years later when i came back to check on the laptop, i noticed that i lost the setup CD. So i went on the Linksys website and looked for the driver the download. On the back of the Adapter(card) it says it is version 1.2. But this version is unavailable on the Linksys Website. I could only find v.1, 2,3,3.1 and 7. v.1 gives a driver of v3.1 etc... AND NOT VICE-VERSA.So first when i inserted the card into the slot , the PC didnt detect it. It only detected it rarely if i insert another driver (eg: USB..). And so a window would pop up to install but i didnt know what to do there. When i downloaded the v.1 driver from the website and installed it, it seemed not the detect the card either, it would just say searching for wireless, but that's it. It would keep searching for hours even when im next to the router.finally, only the Power led light on the card is lit up but not the "Link" led.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am using the USB network adaptor, Model : WUSB600N version 2. It has worked fine whenever I have needed it. Except now. I received “Your adapter may not be installed properly”” ERROR 211: The network adapter is not installed properly” message last night. Also the Windows pop-up message: “USB device not recognized” message. I removed the adaptor and reinstalled it into another USB port. The same thing happened. I moved it again to a third USB port, I received the same error on all five of my PC’s USB ports. I was not able to access the network at all last night.
I brought in laptop into work today , because the antenna/extension is kept there. I inserted the adaptor and it started right up. After an hour of usage, I disconnected the antenna and the adaptor and reinserting the adaptor without the antenna directly into the USB port. And it still worked fine.I turned the PC off, disconnected everything and went to lunch. When I returned, booted up the PC, and inserted the adaptor and, once again got the error message: “ERROR 211 – The network adapter is not installed properly…. What are the maximum number of AE2500 wireless adapters can be installed on a PC running Windows XP SP3 using the windows wireless zero configuration? Recently I'm working on a program that needs multiple seperate wireless connections on a Windows XP SP3 PC. Each wireless adaptor is given a static IP address to respond to traffic at some specific ports. I can install four AE2500 adaptors without problem, but it disconnects the first AE2500 device when I plug in the fifth AE2500 adapter. I've tried on different windows XP machines. They all get the same problem. I wonder if it is a limitation in the AE2500 driver.BTW I've also tried to install an Valet AM10 adaptor as the fifth adapter, it seems ok. Yet installing more AM10 adapters beyond the fifth (4 AE2500 + 1 AM10) requires some luck. It may disconnect the other AM10 devices when I plug in another AM10 adapter.

I finally got the adapter installed along with its device drivers and other required software such as IE6 and I have it connected to the router in my house. The only problem is, the card shows a connection between the card and the router but a broken connection between the router and the internet. I can't seem to figure out how to fix this considering all of the other wireless devices in our home (iPods, laptops, phone, tablets etc) connect to it which makes me think I have to designate (I'm no good at networking) an IP address or DNS like you would be able to on WinXP, Vista, or 7.I had a friend come over and he was looking through the admin settings on the router and said that it only supports WEP encryption, not WPA. The router is the standard router that Verizon gave us when they came in to install FIOS. The card says it supports WEP and WPA (Radius and PSK whatever that means) and I have it set to WEP and entered the password but I can't seem to get it connected to the internet. Would it work if I bought a new router or is there some kind of thing I need to punch into the Internet Protocol properties like you would on later OS'?

Anyway, after XP was up, I put the D-link drivers on. The internet came up and worked like normal for 5-10 minutes, then 'poof', gone. Each time I attempted to connect after that I got a warning message stating I do not have network adapters? I was under the impression that is what D-link was?

I was going to upgrade the firmware from version 2.44.2 to the one on the site 2.45.10 but when it is downloading I get a message at the end upgrade file pattern error. NCS shows Controller is not reachable from MSE. I am able to ping to and from the Controller and MSE.Sychronization service is showing everything being synchronize. Removed and MSE from NCS and add it back in several times.
I have two WLCs (5508 - v7.0.220 and 2106 - v7.0.116) that were NMSP connected to a MSE (v7.0.201.204) according to WCS (7.0.172.0)The MSE reloaded (Actually a reload command from WCS hung the MSE and it hard to be hard rebooted) and I ran into a NTP issue with the MSE running GMT timezone and WLCs running GMT -8. This was highlighted by the NMSP status testing tool. As a quick solution I changed both WLCs to GMT. The tool now tests all green, but the NMSP status remains Inactive for both WLCs and I have no client or tag information flowing into WCS.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI,ve used a network for a number of years with no problems. I have databases on computer 1 and access them with computer 2. After installing a Cisco e2500 I can connect to the databases but after a short period of time I am disconnected. If I search my network computer 1 is not found. Waiting a few minutes the network will find computer 1 again. At about the same time my firewall software has started to show an attack from an 2 different IP's I don't recognize but its always one of those 2 IP's. I'm assuming the two problems are related. I,ve considered going into my firewall and allowing the unknown IP access, BUT who knows where that IP is coming from. I've checked the Cisco setup but couldn't find an IP address that matched the attacking IP address.

I can customize to change to private, but does not allow to change name.If I delete my current DSL Network, on start up I get a windows defender alert of whether it is a trusted, standard or public network. View 10 Replies View RelatedTwo people went on a business trip with their laptop and when they came back they could no longer access the data server. Cannot map the network drive either.
1. Every desktop PC in office can see and access the data server fine.
2. We have a DHCP and DNS server (on one PC; Windows Server 2008), but we had to shut down the services because internet and email didn't work when the DHCP and DNS server service was on. I am confident that this is due to the recent shutdown of the company e-mail server (now outsourced) and the server settings needs to be reconfigured. The described symptom persists even when the DNS server service is stopped.
3. Upon taking a closer look at the DHCP reservation settings. The reservation status indicates as "Reservation (inactive)". I don't know the MAC address of the device, so I have no idea if the values are correct. Tried rebooting the server, delete and recreate the reservation, reboot router; no cigar.
4. Using the coworker's laptop, the data server is shown in the "Other devices" section even with the DHCP sever disabled, but shows error that it cannot access it.
5. All users, with the exception of the data server, have dynamic IPs assigned.
6. DHCP, DNS server is set to 10.10.10.2, Router is set to 10.10.1, Data server is set to 10.10.10.175. 10.10.10.2 is also an accounting server which can be accessed by everyone even in the midst of this mess.
I'm having issues getting the ports g3/5 and g4/5 from inactive to notconnect.
I have tried the hw-module uplink select all in the global configuratio, but it's not working, getting a : % Invalid input detected at '^' marker. Message every time.
