installed the E1000 router that AT&T provides with U-verse DSL. All works fine except that the device name that appears under "Network Infrastructure" in Windows 7 shows the original default name that Cisco assigned instead of the name I chose. It does not affect operation or performance but looks oddball. I don't see how it can be changed.

I wrote down the password of my wireless router on installing it. However, each time I want to add a new device to the router, the password that I wrote down does not prompt the router to recognize the new device or equipment. How do I go back into my computer and retrieve the password to my router if I did copy it down wrongly? how to retrieve the password.
I am trying to install Cisco Connect for my E1000 but I get the following error each attempt "An HNAP Call to the device failed for unknown reasons" I've already updated the router to 2.1 version of the Firmware.

Trying to access the internet with a dell laptop after my daughter messed with the router. She gave me the passowd but when I try to log in from the laptop that has never been logged on since the pw changed, I get a message that wants the network key. I have read several posts about getting the network key but didn't see a network key.I have cisco connect on a different computer and can access the details of the router but haven't found the network key. I can get to Wireless, Wireless Security and the security mode is WPA2/WPA. I can see the password but where is the network key?

When I try to connect wireless, there is a network with an excellent signal, but it has the name "CiscoI1593" and it asks for a password which I don't know. My original network does not appear for some reason when I try to connect wirelessly. I do see my original network name when I use an ethernet cable through the E1000.
It's not possible, where I live, for this "CiscoI1593" network to belong to someone else, it just seemed like it renamed my network to this and also wants some different password.
I think this may be due to something I did. My internet occasionally cuts out and it's usually something wrong with the modem or router, so I typically unplug and press the reset button on both until it begins to work again. This is the first time i've had this problem though, and I have unplugged and pressed the reset button on my router many times.
There is also a button in the middle of the front of the router that looks like a refresh symbol, but I don't really know what it is, pushing it doesn't seem to do anything but make a solidly-on light become blinky.
i have my E1000 network detected by laptop and devices but can't connect to Internet. The E1000 is connected to Cisco 2100 modem and I can connect to Internet if I plug my laptop/PC directly to Cisco 2100 modem.

I've tried setting the MTU to 1500, did a RMA with Linksys to see if it was a hardware problem, did a firmware update to the e1000, disabled DHCP and SPI, reseted my router and my modem....none of those things have worked

I recently purchased a Linksys EA4500 Dual-Band N900 Router with Gigabit and USB. Everything set up great with no problems and after a day or 2 I managed to get all home devices connected (2 laptops, 2 printers, an iphone, 1 tv, 1 blu-ray, an old desktop, and a tablet). Everything was connected right and working and I installed the Linksys app on my iPhone which let me see what devices were connected and all that. Well, last night, an unknown device showed up as a connected device. It's labeled as: android_(insert string of characters) and has a MAC address. I've tried and tried to identify what this device is and I can't. Everything else on our network is still showing up independently of that device. I'm worried that someone using our connection and possibly putting our device security at risk. What can I do to A) try to identify what the device is and B) if it is an intruder, block it's access.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI just purchased a Linksys EA 4500.I set up the wifi properly, with laptops, tablets, smartphones and printer. The wifi network worked fine for a couple of days.But now one of the laptop "refuses" to see the Linksys wifi network. The other devices are still connected and running regularly.
The notebook that does not connect anymore is an ACER 5740DG with an Atheros Network adapter and Windows 7 installed. This notebook is otherwise running fine.At the beginning it was connecting ok and we never had any problem at all with the previous router Belkin_N+_7991AC, that I changed just for speed.
Now the Linksys network is simply not visible to such notebook in the "Available Connections List" that I get clicking on the WiFi icon in the bottom right, while a number of other wifi networks (not mine) are clearly visible. Of course I restarted the notebook properly. For one time I got the visibility of the Linksys, I entered the password and then it was not possible to see the network anymore.No error message from Smart WiFi software.
In the next month or so I plan to replace my old desktop PC. It is currently connected to a Linsys E3200 wireless router. I have many other wireless devices also running off the E3200, but my PC is the only wired device connected to it. When I replace the wired PC do I simply switch the new one in with the existing ethernet connection (I'm sure it is not that simple) or do I have to start over again recreating my entire network..security etc.. ? If so what is the process to start over ? Do I have to reset something on the router, reload cisco connect, create a new network name?

I couldn't resolve the problem so I went out and got a new network adaptor. Pluged it in, windows found drivers for it. But I was getting a Unidentified network problem.I have a Linksys E1000 router, internet works on my laptop and xbox360 fine wired and wireless. So I changed ports on the router, changed cables, even changed routers. Still the PC wasn't seeing the router. So I download the latest drivers for the Realtek network adapter, install them, still nothing. So I thought maybe the router is to blame, downloaded the latest firmware and flashed it onto the router, reset it. Still the same. At this point I was sure the new network card was faulty. So I took the computer to the shop where i bought the card. He disabled the old network adapter in the bios. And he had the Internet up and running in the shop. I was happy and took it home... Still the same problem! Rang ISP done a lot of disabling, enabling, static IP no fix... except he told me to bypass the router and try plugging the PC directly to the modem, and that connects fine. I can get internet from the modem, but not through the router, yet everything else works fine though the router. As I said cables and ports in the router have all been changed and checked. When I do the network diagnostics in windows 7 is says, does not have a valid IP configuration.

I own a E1000 router that I use with several wireless machines. Unfortunately, I cannot connect to the configuration of the router by typing url...in a browser, be it wireless or weirdly. For example, Firefox displays "Connection has been reinitialized". Furthermore, when I launch Cisco Connect, it only shows the error "Unable to connect to router". I tried to switch my router off and on, but that doesn't work. Totally resetting the router solves the problem, but not definitely.Is there a solution that does not require resetting my router?

For my desktop PC in oder to use the router to get on the internet or to even use the Cisco Connect to check the router, the E1000 needs to be rebooted. I am unable to access the router otherwise. I have tried 3 different LAN cards all with the same results.

Things seem to slow down significantly to the point of loosing connectiviety. When I check, my mips are 150 or so. Tried disconnecting and connecting again but didn't work. When I power down the router and power it up, I get 300 mps again but doesn't last too long
