Linksys Wireless Router :: E4500 Local Network IP?
Oct 31, 2012
E4500 local network IP is 10.10.XXX.XXX and the DHCP server also starts with this subnet. My network is 192.168.XXX.XXX based but if I manually chahge the routers IP I can no longer access it. I do not use DHCP as this is in bridge mode. Why is this setup this way...CCC?

Since the upgrade by Cisco I can only see Win7 PC's on the network. I can not see the USB drive attached to the E4500, nor can I see my Media server which is Linux based nor any Win XP computuers.

I just got a new E4500 and plugged a blank 2TB drive into it (Windows shows it is formatted NTFS) which was originally plugged into my WRT-610. I'm moving my media files and when it hits a 50+GB video it reports that there is not enough space to move the file. Smaller files are moving just fine.

I have linksys E4500 and I would like to be able to see the website visited vs ip address. Is there a way to enable same or achive same via parental controls.Again I do not want to block a website but monitor which websites are visited. Is this achievable via router or an additional software/hardware required to be used with router

Not sure if I have a defective router, but if I unplug it I then need to wait at least a half hour to plug it back in. Anytime sooner and it won't broadcast a SSID or connect to the modem. This is a huge inconvenience if you want to change router settings and then you need to restart.

Latest firmware with CCC corrupted after power outage. I reseet the e4500 several times and tried to reload the firmware and still no good. Only way I got it back up is to install the older non-CCC version 2.37. Strange all was fine until the power outage. Not sure if I should even bother to upgrade to 2.38 again.

Just purchased the E4500 today and install failed on both machines. Install starts and then fails to finish.I have contacted support via chat and was given manual instructions and the router will not connect to either machine. Are there known issues with the Cisco Connect software not installing?
The chat support person finally dropped out of the chat and the router remains in an unusable state.I currently had to cable wired connection of laptop to get an internet connection.

due to location issues, I have to use the E4500 as a 2nd router. I have a Netgear router setup as the primary router connected to the internet, this acts as my firewall. The E4500 connected to the netgear and it route all traffic fine. The only issue I have is port forwarding to E4500. I've setup the FTP server on the E4500 and can access it via the internal network. Then on the netgear I forward the FTP port 21to the E4500. But it doesn't seem to work.
I know when I forward all my other ports, it works just fine. If I setup a FTP server on an other machine and forward that the port it works, just not the E4500. I've disabled all firewall settings on the E4500, and still nothing.

I have a E2500 connected to a cable modem as the base of my home network. Hard wire connected to the E2500 is an linksys 8 port hub and a couple of computers. The 8 port hub is connected to a couple of computers and a xbox. I have the hub as a distro point to cut down on wiring. Wirelessly connected to the E2500 are a variety of laptops, netbooks, ipods, an ipad, a playbook, an iphone, a android phone, a wireless printer and a Ps3. Most of the devices are just using the wifi for internet access. Most devices have been setup with their own ip addresses to avoid ip conflicts. The computers and laptops/netbooks are running either Windows XP, Windows 7 or Mepis Linux. Up until now everything was going as good as can be expected, all the computers could see each other and most could transfer files between each other except when Windows gets picky. In the last few days no computers can see each other. Windows or Linux.Everything can accsess the internet and wirelessly print still just can't see each other. I reset the E2500. I updated the firmware on the E2500. I installed the Cisco Connect software (just in case I was too stupid too setup a router). Still nothing. I can ping other machines from a command prompt in windows or a terminal in Linux and get a good ping back. In the router setup via a browser I can go to the status page and see other devices on the local network but most are just ipods, ipad, playbook and the wireless printer, If I go to the administration page / diagnostics I can ping other computers and get a good answer. I just can see them from each other. I think I've rebooted every thing at least once. Yes the workgroup names are all the same (workgroup) and yes file sharing is turned on on all computers.

In the settings menu, there is no l2tp in which it was possible to configure a local address of the router. It should be: 10.155.41.41There is an option only for VPN server setup(10.255.255.254), but where it takes a local address that my provder has gave me? - it is not clear. At the same time in the status of the router receives a DNS correctly and the second address embarass me little bet DNS should be:
1) 80.252.130.253
2) 80 252.130.254
first dns is correct, and second one looks like: 80.252.45.86Maybe he does not take a local setting of ip adress via DHCP?

I've been playing around with my E4200 but cannot find the right combination of settings. My problem: I bought the router for cable internet that never happened. In the meantime I am accessing the web using a 3G dongle. Hoewever, while connected to the router (wired or wireless), all the PC's in my home refuses to access the 3G internet - it is as if it wants to use the E4200 to access the net, no matter what. So every time I want to access the internet, I have to disconnect the PC from the home network, and connect with the 3G on that particulat PC. (I have three PC's at home, 1 wired and two wireless). If I set the E4200 to bridge mode, I struggle to find a logical IP address, since I would ideally like to run the network at 192.168.1.X. How do I set the E4200 to allow a home network to be established without having to disconnect everytime I use the 3G on a PC? Also, it seems that if the router doesn't handle the DHCP duties, win7 by default makes the network public, which complicates sharing a lot...

i'm trying to setup a local DNS server to manage small office local-only domain names for our servers. i have the DNS working properly (resolving local machines and using the ISP dns if it can't). so i put the DNS server ip into the "Static DNS 1" field of the router settings. the other 2 static dns fields are empty.the problem is that the router is still using the ISP dns server as the primary and my local dns server as the secondary. i verify this in two places. first, if i go to the "status" tab, DNS 1 shows the ISP server while DNS 2 shows my local DNS server. secondly, if i connect to the wireless device with a linux-based machine, the /etc/resolv.conf file shows the nameserver ips in the same incorrect order.

I have an EA2700 running latest firmware 1.1.38.138827. It is using Cisco Connect Cloud. I am unable to access the DHCP Reservations link under Connectivity/ Local Network. When I click on it, nothing happens. I've tried multiple browsers including IE 10 (Windows 8 RTM), Firefox 15, and Chrome 21. I also tried on a Windows 7 machine with IE 9 and the link doesn't work on that either except that it shows a box that says Invalid Character when I click on the DHCP Reservations link. I see no invalid characters on the screen. Any workaround other than downgrading the firmware or assigning static IPs on individual PCs?Also, on an unrelated note, where is the Dynanic DNS configuration on the Cisco Connect Cloud?

Im using a Linksys E4500 wireless router behind a Motorola SB6121 modem. My OS is Windows 7 and it is fully up to date. In general my entire network is working well. Now I have purchased a new IP surveillance camera and need to forward a port to be able to have remote viewing of the camera. Mi ISP blocks quite a few inbound ports including 80 so I have been trying a lot of ports all over the map to find something that will allow inbound access.
After several hours, nothing I have tried works, using a couple of different port probes including one called CanYouSeeMe I always get a "timed out" message. I have disabled the firewall in the router and on the local computer and still no luck. This says to me that either Cox is blocking nearly all ports (doubtful) or the modem is blocking access to the router somehow.
The Surfboard modem doesn't have a built in router. Unfortunately I don't have an old working modem to put in the circuit.
I don't guess it matters but the camera is accessible from all other local computers on the LAN using its IP address with a port number appended (right now it's using 8000).

I cannot connect local IP addresses that are connected to X3000 THROUGH LAN CABLE, but we can connect to the local IP addresses that are connected to X3000 THROUGH WIRELESS.There is definetly something wrong with the software of the X3000 since it is the only DHCP server on my network.I have 3 routers connected to X3000 thru LAN cable, the strange thing is when i connect to one of those 3 routers i can connect all devices in the network whether wired or wireless.when i connect to X3000 thru wireless i cannot access to those LAN devices in the network unless they are directly connected to X3000 thru wireless.and when i connect to x3000 with a LAN cable everything works perfect, i am able to access all devices in my network.

my brand new Linksys E1000 wireless router. I am really struggling and cannot figure out what I am doing wrong.
I live in The Netherlands, have a modem (DSL I think...) and can connect wired through the modem with no problems.
I installed the E1000 with the CD, followed all the steps and my laptop is finding the network. However, it's only local, no internet and I don't understand why. Have tried to connect (wired) my computer to the E1000 and the E1000 to the modem but that doesn't work either.

I am having connectivity problems with my router. I have gone into the router itself at 192.168.1.1, changed settings, reset settings, upgraded firmware to 1.0.04, and / or whatever else was posted by other users. I have also changed my settings for my lappy's networking adapter, re-edited my IP, removed / reinstalled network adapter, and / or whatever else I found to try to do.
I am running Vista 32 Home Premium, HP Pavillion dv6700 Notebook, with a Cisco Linksys E2000 Wireless N Router. I have connected a desktop via wireless USB adapter, my android phone, my GF's android phone, her kids iTouch and phones, and when I try to connect via wirelessly to the router, I get local access only with an unidentifiable network, which then limits my access online, (I cannot connect to the internet). It will let me get online via ethernet cable, but not wirelessly. I have bypassed the router and connected directly to the modem without any problems. I have reset the modem and router many times, as well as rebooted my laptop a lot trying to gain some connection. My laptop can connect to other wireless hotspots / access points without any problems.

I just purchased an E2500. I have a small home network dominated by Mac and Linux boxes, with an occassional Windows machine. On my previous router I had been running OpenWRT.
One of the nice features of DNSMASQ is that it will do local name resolution from the /etc/hosts file on the router. Is there anyway to turn on similar features in the E2500? I have a NAS box and a networked printer that require local name resolution. I had hoped that I could just create a DHCP reservation for them, and that the router would resolve their names for other hosts on the network. This does not appear to work.
Should I just be boxing this thing up and returning it in favor of a unit I can flash better firmware on to?

I have some issue with internet connection and Router WRT54G. There is always "Local Connection" but no internet access. I checked that at two different laptops. One with Windows Vista and the other one with Windows XP. Both the same problem. There is a wireless connection with excellent signal strength but no internet access. I added a screen shut to see the Router setting. If more needed I will add more.

I just found a slightly unsettling bug in the E4200v2 (running the latest firmware 2.0.36 build 126507).Administration > Local Management Access > Access via Wireless ... set to DISABLED. HOWEVER, when I attempted to access the web interface on a handy iPAD I had absolutely no problem getting through to the web interface (after providing username and passsword).Limiting access to wired clients seems like a simple a prudent measure ... which is why this option is there for the paranoid among us.This seems like a black-and-white bug.

I am using an E2500 as an access point, which is working fine. I have an Ethernet cable on one of the LAN ports of the E2500 connected to a LAN port on my gateway router. The LAN address of the E2500 is 192.168.7.3 and the LAN address of the gateway router is 192.168.7.1. Clients on the E2500 wireless network have no problems getting to the Internet through the gateway router. Clients on the E2500 wireless network can reach the E2500 local management port at 192.168.7.3 on port 80. On the gateway router I am forwarding WAN port 8083 to LAN address 192.168.7.3 at port 80. But I cannot access the E2500 local management interface via the gateway router. The E2500 should see the request as from 192.168.3.1 due to NAT in the gateway router, right? I can reach any of my actual access points this way, just not a router being used as an access point. Security/design limitation of the router?
