I'm using the EA4500 router with Cisco Cloud Connect. I've noticed under Devices I'll see devices named "Network Device". They have a generic MAC address with something like "00:00:00:00:2F". They will have an IP that's already assigned to another device.

I have an EA4500 and am using Cisco Connect Cloud software. Its working mostly fine except that I have one device on the network that will not show up in the device list. This is not an issue in itself and normally I would ignore (although it used to show up when I forst got the router) however..
The device is a WDTVLive media unit and required access to windows shares on a media server. Now the WDTVLive device is server an ip address by the router and is available from everywhere on my network but every couple of days it loses the capacity to search windows shares.
I know what you are thinking and I initially thought the same, this is an issue with the WDTVLive box. However one day I spent a few hours trying to resolve (Am an IT Consultant and know a little about networks) and found that I could not fix the issue. I then rebooted the router and it started working. I have since confirmed that every time it breaks I have to reboot the router.
Never seen that before so why is it there and is there a way to get rid of it showing..... tried a couple of "apple" forums with no luck.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an EA 4500. Tonight I was trying to see what devices were connected. The window shows 0 devices connected, although about 20 devices are connected and working. When I click on "Devices Connected", I get the spinning wheel, and after multiple attempts by the application to list devices, I receive a message that the application does not work. I have the latest firmware installed. This is a recent issue. I have not made any changes to network configuration, nor to any of the devices that all have internet access. I will note that I did not set up a separate SSID for each band. But that did not seem to be an issue in previous months. I also cannot access the router ui from my windows 7 desktop. I can access the abbreviated ui through my Android phone. I tried connecting through smart wi-fi and by ip of the router. I just get the endless spinning circle of dots. I am running Windows 7 all up to date. All drivers are up to date.

New laptops, PS3, friends laptops. Error message would suggest that password is being entered incorrectly, but I change the password to very basic word (idiot proof) but no luck.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just purchased a Linksys EA4500 (firmware is up to date). However while it set itself up wonderfully. I cannot get my wireless devices (specifically my apple tv) to see my NAS or my itunes PC, My ipads can access the NAS if i put in the correct address but not automatically.
Everything is connected to my cisco switch that is hardwired (2 xboxes, 2 ps3, 3 tv's, Wii, network audio receiver, 2 NAS, printer, 2 computers, etc). I disabled the Wi-Fi on the bell router. On the wifi are a few ipads, 3 blackberries, 1 iphone, 2 laptops).I am fully aware that the reason the wireless devices cannot see the hardwired equipment is because it is on a different subnet.
However when i try and change the IP address of the router to 192.168.2.2 (putting it on the same subnet) the router must detect a conflict then changes itself to a class A address (10.x.x.x) OR i get an INVALID IP address. As well i have noticed an overall degradation in the speed of my network (all gigabit hardware with cat 6 cabling)
I am looking to track what my kids are doing on the internet. I have an ea4500 and was wondering if there is a detailed log file that I can look at?
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy EA4500 with the latest firmware will only display nine connected devices at a time. It also seems to randomly shuffle which devices to show as connected, even though several more than nine are connected and online. Does anyone else's device list limit itself to displaying only nine devices? The Linksys phone apps also display a maximum of nine devices. I like the routers new user interface and understand that it has received a lot of praise, however this is the second bug I've experienced in as many months (the first being a failure of the device list to update once devices are upgraded to Windows 8, requiring a reset to default settings in order to fix).

I can access the cameras from my local LAN both when using the local 10. ..and external 99 .. Addresses. When I go off the local connection - Access does not work. Slingbox did its auto configuration and I can access it. I just cant get to camera devices (Panosonic, Foscam, etc.).
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just now installed a new EA4500 Router. It installed itself automatically without a problem, by running the setup CD. No devices other than my hard wired computer and modem are connected yet.
When I went into Start > Cisco Connect to look around and check it's version, etc., I immediately got a "There's an important update for your router" notice. My concern is not wanting to install The Cloud at this time (although I wouldn't rule it out later). There has not been a trace of it so far.
I currently have Firmware Version: 2.0.36.126507 and Software Version: 1.4.12100.0. What this Important Update may be? Is it the "dreaded" Cloud? I'd rather avoid the whole rolling back to pre-Cloud issue for now, if possible.
I have EA4500 router with latest firmware update. Cisco Connect Cloud behave strange. Some devices connected to the wireless router appear in CCC and some not. For instance, Iphone is visible, Ipad is not but both have normal accesss to internet.

They both access the router via wifi and wired, but neither appear in the device list any longer. I've rebooted the router twice, as well as both computers, disabled/re-enabled their wifi connections, but no effect.Every other non-Windows 8 device still appears normally under the device list.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have installed my new E4200 and it works beautifully. I have several wirelss adapters and a few wired connections through powerline adapters. I also have a second VPN router attached to the 4200.I can see the wireless connected devices with the associated IP addresses. If I plug a laptop directly into the Cisco, I can of course see it.However, I can see none of the devices attatched to the powerline devices? I have a securty cam connected via the powerline and want to know the IP address. I checked with cisco technical support via chat and they said it is impossible. I have used 2 previous routers with the same configuration and can see all devices.

I any running Cisco Works LMS 4.0 on Windows 2008 Enterperise Edition with SP2.I am facing 2 issue which are below:
1. Get message "You are using unsupported Version". As per Cisco document Windows 2008 Ent edition is support by LMS 4.0
2. All of my devices are showing unreachable. I already double check the Devices Credential include SNMP (Read and Write community) and Username and passwords.I can accessble all devices via telnet from the same Cisco Works Machine.
I have discovered my switches in LMS but it is showing unreachable what can be the reason ?

I tried to reinitalize the DFM database, but that caused all sorts of other issues like my ANIServer not running anymore etc. I have a ticket open with TAC for that issue though.
A particular & ungreatful person abused my laptop to the point where I had to install a password. I had to perform all kinda of removal actions but I just noticed in my network domain that his name followed by "PC" & under "media devices" & "network infrastructure" contains his name again w/ PC & devices called [TV]UNE40ES6100.I am using the program's wireless service which I am allowed-to. I just want to remove this person from my laptop. It won't delete when r. clicking. I have win 7 and use this laptop mainly for my online school & email.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWe had an existing installation of LMS 4.1 which seemed to have worked fine with the exception that it was giving problems with logging Syslog events. We tried everything to resolve it and then we found a link on this very site that explained that there was a bug in displaying Syslog events on LMS 4.1. It is important to state that we would get a few Syslog events but the rest were either filtered or discarded.As per the bug toolkit, we realized that we had to upgrade to LMS 4.2 to have the bug resolved. This was not a problem and we installed LMS 4.2 as a direct upgrade to LMS 4.1. We backed up our existing data and the installation process migrated everythin automatically.Now, LMS 4.2 is installed and our objective of having Syslog messages are being received regularly as we wanted.unfortunately, when we try to generate a report such as "Detailed Device" report and try to select All Devices from the Device Selector menu, we do not see any of our devices. However, we do find our devices listed under User-Defined Groups -> (Our DCR). Based on this, we can generate reports and everything is fine.Yet, we are doing this for a client of ours and they expect to see these devices listed in the "All Devices" section of the device selector. Apart from that, everything seems to be working fine.

Just sold my computer and the plan was to buy a newer mac but we've been getting along fine without a computer with just using our iphones. So my question, I see that Cisco has the Connect Express app for the iphone, and I've read about all the features it has like changing settings, router features, etc. But I can't find anything on using the app for the initial set up of the router. I'm currently on an older linksys router (set up before we sold the computer) but it's time for a needed upgrade.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI got my ea4500 all set up. never had a media servor or anything like that, figured this would be an easier way. when i hook up my exteral i can find it but i can only view the files in windows media player. how can i just browse the folders manually? WMP doesnt let me browse the folders as they actually are on the HDD which is such a pain in the **bleep**.
shows a device in "network infrastructure" but it says problem sending command to the program when i click that. i dont want to have to view the HDD in WMP as a media device...
My new EA4500 (fw ver 2.0.36) won't obtain an IP from a Brighthouse TM502G cable modem. The EA4500 replaced a functioning WRT54G which would obtain an IP from the ISP. I've tried upgrading firmware and have used both straight-through and crossover cables between the EA4500 & TM502G to no avail. The EA4500 would issue IPs to it's clients, but not obtain one from it's TM502G. At the moment, all 3 are daisy-chained together with the old WRT54G in the middle in order to make the EA4500 work. Both WiFi and LAN ports function in this configuration.

However on the 5 Ghz tab, nothing? I can see Channels 36, 40, 44, 48, 52 and so on BUT no trace of any wireless signal here?I carefully reviewed the wireless settings options and it is indeed enabled.

Although the signal is not good, but we used to use a router EA3000 to relay the signal. Now my roommate is leaving with this this router. So I bought EA4500 and try to do the similar job. However, I find that the configurations on 192.168.1.1 are different between EA3000 and EA4500. Many options cannot be found in the EA4500 page, such as the wireless client.

I've reset, powercycled, unplugged, plugged, searched, and searched but I cant seem to get it to find the router.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm hoping to get this router to allow WOL (actually wake on WAN) but it seems to be blocking the necessary broadcast magic packet even though the settings appear correct. It's not critical, but the reason is this: I'd like to shut down the home PC, but when necessary be able to start it up and use a VPN to access any info I need remotely.
From within the LAN, I can verity that WOL works. I have NIC and PCI WOL enabled in the BIOS. The NIC (a Marvel Yukon Gigabit) has WOL enabled as well as "allow this device to wake.." using magic packets under power management. The target machine's local IP is reserved through the EA4500 DHCP Reservation table. Just for troubleshooting, I opened port 9 in windows firewall. More importantly, I have ports 7-9 forwarded to my target LAN address. Single port forwarding... it just has been less reliable (?). I'm using a mask of 255.255.255.128 in order to enable broadcasting on .127 at some point as it seems it must be necessary. Broadcasting on .255 is not possible, despite some workarounds I found on the web. EA4500 firmware is the latest, 2.0.37. I have turned off the multicast filter and the anonymous internet filters under the security tab.
So, with these settings, I can WOL from inside the network no problem either targeting the LAN address, or by using a dyndns address. So far so good.With these same settings, I can go to WAN using Depicus or the Cloud Connect Pro app over 4G on an iPad. With all these same settings, WOLsniffer confirms the magic packet still getting through over WAN (obviously using the dyndns address). Even better, I can shutdown the target PC and STILL wake it up within a few minutes from WAN. Let me restate that! Wake up over WAN works, but only for the first few minutes after a shutdown.
However, if I wait 20 minutes or so, WOL stops working. If I change the port forwarding to .127, not only does it not work, but WOLsniffer will fail to see the magic packet. My conclusion is that the ARP table is getting purged, which is undertandable, and so the target LAN address isn't in memory. However, frustratingly the EA4500 will not broadcast no matter what settings you use. This limitation is undocumented, and counterintuitive since the software allows you to disable multicast filtering and does not notify you of an error when forwarding to xxx.xxx.xxx.127 with a 255.255.255.128 mask.
