Linksys Wireless Router :: How To Set Up SRx200 For Internet On Secondary Ethernet
Aug 21, 2011
I have a set up for cable modem internet i would like to share with a laptop. Its a Motorola surfboard cable modem hooked up to my IBM P4 computer through a USB cable. The Ethernet port out of the modem is NOT operational. The IBM computer gets the internet fine in this configuration. I would like to use a SRX200 WiFi router to connect a laptop to my internet using ICS and leaving the IBM computer and router on when i do this.I opened properties on the USB connection and clicked share internet connection. This then set up my Ethernet port to 192.168.0.1.I now want to connect the SRX 200 to the Ethernet port. Its IP is 192.168.1.1.so, do i connect the computers Ethernet port to one the routers Ethernet ports instead of the wan port?Do i turn off the routers DHCP? Do i have to change the routers IP address to make this work? Will i have to assign fixed IP's to my client to make it work?

I've got an older SRX200 that is starting to "disconnect" frequently (loss of wireless connectivity). I've gone to the Linksys website to download a firmware update, as a potential fix, but the website says no firmware is available. The current version I'm using is 1.01.18.

Since the secondary router WRT300N uses the same default IP 192.168.1.1 as the primary installed router EA4500, any attempt to log onto the set up page results in diversion to the Cisco Connect Cloud for the primary router.
Is there a way to access the set up page for the secondary WRT300N, bypassing the main router intervention via the Cloud software?

I set up a linksys e2500 router with name "mynetwork" and WPA2 password.
The network works fine, my laptop connects securely to it.
But when I View Available Wireless Networks , I see a second , unsecure network named "mynetwork-guest" to which my laptop will also connect with no credentials (not sure how that network got there).
How can I find and delete that unsecure network? When I go into my router setup, I only see mynetwork, not mynetwork-guest If it is of any use here is the IP information for both:
The settingd for mynetwork:
IP Address: 192.168.1.133
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1
The setting for mynetwork-guest:
IP Address: 192.168.33.137
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.33.1

I currently have my wired cable internet hooked into my wrt310n. I have that hooked into a linksys 10/100 ef3124 switch. From there, I have cat5 run to the back of my house, where the wireless signal is weakest. I've got an E2000 router and would like to hook that in at the back of the house. What settings do I need to make in order to set up a completely new wireless network in the back of the house?

My Cisco E3000 has slowed it's Ethernet speed so slow that it times out when going to Facebook, YouTube or any site that is complex. It worked fine until one day it just gave up. It's connected to DSL Modem with Ethernet To a Apple Mac G5 power PC There are two other older macs connected via Ethernet, same problem. When I took the router out of the chain, and connected G5 directly to modem, normal internet speed. My firmware is up to date. Both wireless bands work great. When I look at Cisco Connect, everything looks normal. factory settings.

WRT400N worked great for 18 months.
Last week the Verizon-supplied DSL modem went bad (wasn't receiving data) and was replaced.
Now I can get Internet direct out of modem, and when I connect it to router the router's Internet light is on, but it seems to stop there. Devices connected to router via Ethernet or wifi don't get Internet.
I'm able to get to the router's admin console via Ethernet and wifi, but no Internet.

I was very happy working with my WRT610N connected to the ethernetport of my previous internet modem. Recently I had to switch to a new modem CISCO EPC3925. Unfortunately this combination does not work anymore. I don't get an internet connection on my WRT610N anymore. I therefore have to connect all computers (LAN and WIFI) to this EPC3925. Especially for the WIFI I'm not fully happy. My IPAD2 sometimes does not want to connect, a problem which never occurred when connecting to WRT610N.
I probably need to change a setting, but where? In the EPC3925 or in WRT610N?

I have two routers on my local network:
1. ADSL Wi-Fi router provided by my ISP. This is the primary router for my network which is connected to the internet. Router IP: 192.168.1.1 (DHCP enabled)
2. TP-Link wireless router which is connected to the primary router through its LAN port (not WAN) with its DHCP turned off. So I'm using this router ONLY to extend the network to another area. This is a 3G enabled router. Router IP: 192.168.1.2
There are two different wireless SSIDs but basically only ONE network (all the PCs connected through any of the two routers are on the same subnet and have same IP range i.e. 192.168.1.x). I want to use the 3G internet connection through the secondary router when the ADSL connection is down. Whenever the ADSL connection is down, I would just connect the 3G-USB to the secondary router, all the computers on the network should connect to the internet while skipping their route through the primary router WITHOUT CHANGING ANY SETTINGS. Is it possible? Do I need to modify the routing tables? Or is it possible by configuring the DHCP server to assign the primary DNS address as 192.168.1.1 and secondary DNS address as 192.168.1.2?

There is no "blinking light" indication on my E3000 at the Internet (Yellow label) and Ethernet port no 4. I tried plugging in 2 cables at all of the ports. I got the blinking indication at Port 1 through 3. The same cable's have no response at Port 4 and Internet port. As a result my I am not able to connect to the internet.

I have more than 5000 sq. ft home and have some dead places other end of the house. Now I am looking for Range Extender/Repeater to boost signal. My primary wireless router is Motorola Surfboard SBG6580 and Secondary Linksys E3000 (planning to update firmware to DD-WRT). So I wanted something such that I can roam between the two routers without switching SSID (use single SSID name for primary and secondary DD-WRT routers) and connect automatically to whichever the best signal (or) strength router. In work place we have same thing like that single wireless SSID name which automatically connect wireless SSID from one end to another end of the building.

Region : Argentina
Model : TL-WDR4300
Hardware Version : V1
Firmware Version :
ISP : fullrate.dk
My ISP has provided me a router: Zyxel P-2601HN which has an ideal WLAN transfer rate of 150 mbps. I live in a concrete 2 story house so signals are weak at best on the other floor - therefore, I Have bought the TL-WDR4300 as an extension for the latter floor. I have connected the routers from LAN to LAN and the Zyxel has 192.168.1.1 on LAN and the TL-WDR4300 had 192.168.0.1 as out set. I have changed this to 192.168.1.2 and all the setup (disabled DHCP + other) seems to work alright. BUT i can not log into the TL-WDR4300 !! Not with http://192.168.1.2 and not with [URL]. What I can do to get into the setup of TL-WDR4300. I know I can alays backup the setting and reset the router and load the setting again, make alterations, saving .....but it kind of drastic !Can the two radios SSID names (2,4 MHz and 5 MHz) be the same name as the SSID name on the Zyxel P-2601HN ? What are the implications ?

Plugging in laptop to ethernet 1, no IP obtained. ethernet 2, 3 and 4 give me an IP (192.168.1.100) but I can't ping the linkys. Holding the reset button has not done anything. I can connect and manage the Linksys wirelessly. I've tried re-flashing firmware and resetting factory defaults. Ethernet 1 LED is always on connected or not. The other three light when connected.

Tried everything I could find on the boards (hard reset for 30 seconds, cycling power). The power light's the only one that's coming on and I can't tell if it's on continuously or just blinking really fast.
No problem with direct connection to the modem via ethernet, but I can't see the WRT110 via ethernet or wireless. It just suddenly stopped working yesterday.

We have an ASA 5520 in production with a brand new internet feed we've just finished installing. We connect to our corporate office via a VPLS. In our corporate office we have a Cisco 1841 (I think that was the year it's made! ) with an ADSL feed with a static IP address plugged in directly.
We have a user VPN that we integrate with our user directory on the router, which connects via the ADSL. The users get an IP addres at the tail end of the 172.31.14.0/24 range, which is the same as one of our corporate subnets (we just reserver a few address, we don't have many VPN users).
Both the ASA and the router connect to each other (via the VPLS) on the internal subnet 10.255.255.0/24.
-The ASA is 10.255.255.1
-The router is 10.255.255.100
Currently the default route for the corporate office goes out the Dialer interface for the ADSL, which means that's where our internet goes out there (all proxying aside, we'll leave that out of this one). ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 Dialer1
We'd like to change that default route to go via the VPLS to the ASA, and then out to the internet using the new feed. All the ACLs and rules are in place at both ends for this to work. If I change the default route on the router to: ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 10.255.255.1Then it works as expected.
The problem is that then the user VPN breaks. I had hoped I wouldn't have to do any configuration on this but it looks to be so. I'm guessing that the VPN packets are coming in via the ADSL and back out via the new internet. It would be simple if the remote client had a static IP address as I could put in a static route for each user, but it's always going to be dynamic.
What do I need to put in place to get this working? I thought maybe I could leave the default route via the ADSL and put in a next hop rule to go via the VPLS for the specific subnets that need the new internet, i.e. have a subnet specific default gateway, is this possible? (I gave it a go but it didn't seem to work, I think I didn't implement it properly though as it still went via the ADSL, maybe because there is a nat route-map as well?).

These questions are only in relation to the above Wireless Router (v6, FW-v1.02 [2010]) :
1. What is an Ethernet Bridge (the basic authoritative definition), and besides gaming, what are they generally used for in a business setting?
2. What are VPN settings in a Router used for, and can a VPN be configured on a remote PC without them?
3. Utilizing bridging, etc., can I utilize my WRT54G as a makeshift Range Expander as long as the primary router doesnt have WEP key requirements? The current WIFI doesnt reach my PC, so I thought I could configure my router midway in hopes of extending the other routers' signal, via some kind of bridging if necessary. Naturally, there would only be a wireless connection between routers.
4. How can I setup a simple Captive Portal on this router?

I got burned after purchasing a 3TB WD 3.0 USB hard drive that I can not use on my current E3000 or the their latest E4200. At least support knew that answer fairly fast. My bad for not taking the time to think I would have to search this website to find the short list of external USB drives that will work with the E3000.All I wanted to do was store my media files on a shared network drive. I am cheating the system now and using a shared drive on the main PC. The whole point of my project is not to have the main PC running to share media. So before I go scrap this 60 day old router, using WDs My Life 2TB ETHERNET connection external HD? Does actually have one of these drives installed on a E3000 using win xp pro? I did search high and low here, but could not find a list of acceptable external Ethernet drives or size limitations.Burnt once, lesson learned, will not get burnt again.

I recently purchased a Mac and wanted to reset my wireless router and set it up using my mac. However, when I downoaded the software to set it up again, it said it was not compatable with my Mac OS (X Lion 10.7.4). I am sure there is a way to manually set it up via an ethernet connection, but I am at a loss as to how to do that. The wireless router is working just fine, I am able to connect to the internet wirelessly and there's nothing wrong with my internet service, however the wireless router is not secured.I have my Mac connected to the wireles router via an ethernet cord.

I'm using a refurbished WRT54G2 v1.5 router. I've had the router for two and a half years and have never had a problem. I recently unplugged my DSL modem and this router to move them, and when I plugged them in again, the router stopped picking up the internet signal from the DSL modem. I'm able to get internet when I hardwire directly to the modem though. I tried resetting the router and setting the router up from scratch again, but now I just get error 321 Ethernet cable not connected when I try and run the setup cd.

my linksys e1000 router compares pretty well to my modem when the Ethernet cable is hooked up. I get fast DL speeds above 50Mbps either way when the Ethernet cable is plugged into my computer. However, when I connect wirelessly, regardless of range I can't seem to DL any faster than 20Mbps. I went ahead and restored my factory defaults so that I could use Cicsco Connect and upgrade the firmware, but beyond that I don't know what settings to tweak.

I recently bought the E4200 thinking it would be the latest and greatest, and I wouldnt' have to worry, but after just a simple test of transferring files between my Home Server, and my PC (Both connected over Gigabit ethernet using CAT6 cables, with only the E4200 inbetween).I use to get anywhere from 40 MegaBytes/second to 50MegaBytes/second on my D-Link 655.But now I am lucky to barely get 20 MegaBytes/second. Is there an issue with this router? or am I expecting too much from Linksys?

I have been using the E3000 for quite a while. A problem that I could not find a solution to is that the devices connected through Ethernet can't be viewed on Wireless, and vice versa. This is especially annoying because I want to get access to my media servers over wireless, for obvious reasons, but even those are not viewable (and using IP addresses on portables is a pain in the back)

Purchased today 26th March 2012, used CD first as warned, followed procedures, will not connect to WAG 160N modem router. WAG160N has MAC restrictions but MAC of WRT160N added, both in wireless and as a computer. Still won´t connect, gets to 85% in wireless connect mode then fails, gets to stage 4 of router recognition and fails, saying check cables. Cables changed to know working ones, still no success. Tried pinging 192.168.1.1 direct from computer with no success, no access to router log-in page at all. WAG 160N has no problems.
