View 1 RepliesPlugging in laptop to ethernet 1, no IP obtained. ethernet 2, 3 and 4 give me an IP (192.168.1.100) but I can't ping the linkys. Holding the reset button has not done anything. I can connect and manage the Linksys wirelessly. I've tried re-flashing firmware and resetting factory defaults. Ethernet 1 LED is always on connected or not. The other three light when connected.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just moved in with my friend and i'm having trouble connecting to wireless router linksys WRT54GS2 V1. My roommate can connect his laptop and desktop to the router wirelessly, but my iphone and laptop can't connect. I've tried both of my devices on a wireless network at a friend's house, and both worked fine. We even changed AND removed the password and it doesn't let me log on the internet.

It still shows up as a network you can connect to, but whenever I try to connect, it keeps saying there is a problem with my connection. I tried using a different internet cord, but nothing changes. I even tried to reinstall my router and still no dice.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Linksys model WRT54GS2 with 4 ports, with Ethernet cables connected to ports 1 and 2. I have a laptop connected by wireless connection, with only an Xbox connected using Port 1 and occasionally port 2. Just recently, port 1 shows no activity. When connected to Xbox it doesn't display a check mark showing connection but does with port 2. I've connected it to port 3 and 4, which shows a check mark but won't connect to Xbox live. It's like port 2 only works, what I can do to "fix" ports 1, 3, and 4?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been having trouble with my wrt54gs2 and 4 360's. I tried a link someone posted for me to a cisco tutorial, it worked, but only for one 360. I have a Netgear wndr3400, I HATE the wireless on that router. Its unreliable but I like the features, the guest network and transfer meter, plus its worked with 4 360's out of the box. So would it be possible to turn off my wifi on the Netgear and plug the wrt54gs2 in and use its wireless?
View 7 Replies View RelatedSo I have been having internet problems lately and first thought it was my modem. Figured out it wasn't the modem but the isp. After I woke up the next morning I found the wireless not to we working again but the hard connection to be just fine. I have tried resetting the router but I'm not entirely sure I went through. The orange light no longer comes on. Wired connection also doesn't work while connected to the router. I have tried 192.168.1.1 and nothing loads. The router and modem are about 5 or 6 years old. A windows xp desktop, windows 7 and vista laptops are on the network with a blue ray player.the router is a wrt54gs2 v7
I think i have to reconfigure the router but I'm not sure. If that's the case why am i having trouble with 192.168.1.1?
I have a Linksys WRT54GS2 router, a PC (Windows XP) and a laptop (Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit).I have been using this router for 3 months. I was able to use the internet on both devices simultaneously until now. But suddenly since yesterday it only works for one device at a time, not both.
If I connect to the router then I can access the internet only from the laptop. To use the internet from the PC, I have to power off the router, type in run "netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt", and restart the PC. But as the router is off, the internet is inaccessible on the laptop.
While router is on, the PC shows limited or no connectivity.
I tried reseting the router 2-3 times.
On the laptop it sometimes shows "IP address conflict has been detected", even though the IP addresses of the devices were not the same. The IP address of the PC shows 169.X.X.X (when the router is on), whereas the ISP's IP addresses start with 124.X.X.X.
I have a linksys WRT54GS2. I forgot my password, so I pushed the little reset button. I reset the router and had to configure it all again. I thought it had it configured, because you can see the router name on the "view networks" page, but it just doesn't connect for some odd reason. What could this reason be? I have my router password protected, and I am sure I typed in the correct password.
View 8 Replies View RelatedSo instead of using 192.168.* how can I have computers on my router use my school's 152.65.*? It'd be nice for sharing things around the place. I'm just not sure a WRT54gs2 can do this as I'm not sure its software allows for such routing capabilities.
I sort of know how one would theoretically do this (I'm currently taking a networking class at school) but can I do this with a WRT-54gs2?
I'm currently setting the MAC address filtering for my Linksys E2500 router. I have about 20 devices which i'm allowing to access my router, so i keyed in the MAC addresses into the config page and save setting. But only 16 addresses are registered, the rest refused to register no matter how many times i key in, it just reset back to 00:00:00:00:00:00 after i click on save setting.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI previously entered in settings for the "Static DNS" 1 through 3 (using ip addresses from OpenDNS and one from Google DNS).
I want to remove these so the router reverts to using the DNS allocated to it by the ADSL modem (which will likely be the IP of the modem, which then forwards the requests to the DNS from the ISP).But I can't clear the Static DNS settings. I have to put in 0.0.0.0 but the last zero is not accessed. I get the error: The value is out of range [1 - 254].So I end up with 0.0.0.1 and then all Internet access is lost on the computers because they are being given a bad DNS IP.
How can I reset the static DNS ip address back to 0.0.0.0 ?
I can connect to my router but either way it seems like i can't get any internet access (both wireless and by cable): url...I have tried the steps that the linksys FAQ suggests shall fix this problem, but this has not worked. I have also tried to reset the router without any luck. I know it its not the modem that is causing the problem because I'm wired to it now.On the E2000 every light is blinking as it should be (hence the FAQ) so it indicates that there might be a problem with the connection between the router and the computer (tested on other computers too without success).
View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently installed some wireless IP cameras and when attempting to re-install a camera I went into the DHCP Client table to verify which IP a camera was using to set it up, but I could not...and still cannot see any of my cameras in the table even though I can access three of them directly through the IE web browser. I initially power cycled both the E4200 router and Motorola cable modem, and then later just the wireless router...but I still do not see the devices connected. I currently have 2.0.37 firmware even though I was told by Cisco support that there was a later version available, just before being informed that I do not have support available and could purchase it. I attempted to locate a newer version, but the online upgrade portion of the Cisco Connect software searched the net and then states that I have the latest version available. I also opened a Firefox browser to see if maybe my browser was causing issues, but the same limited table appears without all entries available. I even opened the Cisco Connect software on another laptop with the same limited results. Other than a factory reset, get me E4200 dual band wireless router to show all attached devices through the DHCP Client table as it previously did approximately two weeks ago?
View 2 Replies View RelatedHave a 400N wireless router that has been working fine with several wireless devices on a small home network for about a year. Nothing has been changed but suddenly all of the wireless wireless devices dropped offline and none see the network signal in their search to reconnect. All of the indicator lights on the router look good and I have unplugged power and reconnected first the cable modem and then the router but still no signal. Logging into the router seems to show that it is working OK but there is apparently no air signal for the client devices to detect so only the wired devices are showing up. It's as if everything is working except the antenna function. Are there any suggestions short of uninstalling and reinstalling the whole set up and see what happens? I have taken my laptop to a nearby hotspot and confirmed that it is receiving other network signals fine so it has to be something to do with the router itself.

Ip address of e1200 is set more than 5 apart from primary router, dhcp is disabled. The connection bewtween routers is Wan to Wan.
I have wired signal at the e1200 but no wireless signal?
The problem is that I have Vonage phone service which requires internet service. I have spoken with serveral Linksys agents, none seem to understand the problems or know how to get me connected. In sum, with the Linksys modem, the Comcast modem and the Vontage modem, how to get the router to work without messing up my phone service.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have two mac laptops and am trying to copy a directory with a number of PDFs in it. The files aren't particularly large, but there are many of them. At some point in the process the router stops and must be turned off and on before it will respond again either wirelessly or wired. I have tried the same experiment with both devices wired and the router works fine. I have tried changing the MTU, channel, beacon setting, etc. as other forum posts have tried. I tried reflashing the firmware, resetting to factory defaults and reconfiguring. So far no success. Cisco support wants me to return the router. Frankly I'm at the point of considering the former Linksys/Cisco products complete rubbish. I am going to have to buy a new router even if I return this one since I can't be without a router for any length of time.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWe have a home use WRT160N router linked to a PC desktop and two wireless laptops, Yesterday bought a new I-Phone, but could not link to my network (entered the security key many times). I accidentally connected to computer fix it firm that linked to my PC and wanted a large sum to fix the problem which he said was due to large number of temp?? internet files and once removed he would change the IP address of the desktop computer? Is this diagnosis logical and can I do it on my own. The router is definetely working - both laptops access the internet and I was recently able to hook up a Samsung Blu-Ray player using the same security code I used for the I-Phone.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe router had firmware 2.0.x(?) and I tried to update to the latest FW, according to the webpage that's
FW_E1000_2.1.02.006_US_20130115.bin
Hardware is E1000 v2 according to sticker on back. The firmware update failed (no reason given) and the router now hangs in limbo where all it does is flashing the power LED.I set my PC to 19?2.168.1.2 and TFTP'd the firmware over to 192.168.1.1 - no errors reported and 192.168.1.1 is pingable. Held reset for 30s, then powered down the router for another 30s. On power-up the router still flashes the power LED.
I installed an IP camera, and had to change my E1000 router settings to a static IP address. Now I can't access the router settings. 192.168.1.1 is still the default gateway, but it won't open in any browser.
I'm reluctant to do a reset because it took me quite a while to figure out how to get the IP camera and port forwarding working (it does!), and I'd hate to do it all again and come to the same place. I'm not very good at this stuff, and it's a small miracle that I did it once.
Can you use your WRT54G router with the newer WRT310N router to extend your wireless signal? How?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI I use a Linksys E3000 router. Sometimes when I look at the network map I see a device called "Unknown." It appears as though the two notebooks sometime are going through this device to access the Linksys E3000. Is there any way to determine what this unknown device is?
