MSI FX720 Can't Connect To Router Via Ethernet
Jun 27, 2011
I just bought a new MSI FX720 from newegg and when I plug it in via ethernet to my router, it does not connect. Wifi connects to this router without a problem.I was at a friends house earlier today and it connects via ethernet to his router without a problem.I've also tried 3 ethernet cables through my hub and direct to my router, using different ports.

When i was looking for a wireless card, everyone seemed to be having connectivity issues with all of these cards, and i regularly have interference issues when the microwave is used which completely knocks off my connection. How to connect a second router as i have a telephone port in my room so i am able to connect my PC/PS3 via ethernet. Just some basic info, I'm on the O2 wireless network using their Thomson router, and i also have a Bt Homehub 2 lying about for some reason.

I bought a Philips blu ray player that has an ethernet port to connect to stream movies. My router is located on a different floor so connecting via an ethernet cable is not an option. How do I connect my blu ray player on the 2nd floor to the router on the 1st floor?

I'm trying to get a DS lite connected to my university's wifi, which I learned doesn't broadcast a Wireless-b signal, which a DS needs to connect. Can I setup a my own router connected to an ethernet port, configure it to boardcast wireless-b and get on wifi through that? I asked another forum which said yes, but I want to make sure before I buy anything.

I am currently having issues with connecting to the ethernet through my router. I can confirm this is not a software problem becasue I have tried this on mulitple PCs and I get the same problem. Today I tried connecting my pc to the modem via ethernet and it connected without a problem at all. The router i am currently using is a cisco RV120W and is connected to the modem via the WAN port, -not sure if that has anything to do with it. Things that I have already tried is system restore on the router, unplugging everthing for 1 minute and pluging itin, flushdns and everthing else IP related on CMD. Also I should add my modem is on router mode and my router's network is seprate from the modem, also wireless is workng fine, and I have tried relpacing all ethernet cables to confirm the cables arn't broken. The IP address I recieve on devices on the ethernet is 169.254.x.)

So you've got broadcast networks - Ethernet, PPP networks such as serial & T1/E1 and then youve got Non-broadcast multi-access links such as Frame relay and ATM. I understand the concepts of each. That's not the problem. My question is, is it possible create a broadcast network (Ethernet) but also connect a router to another router via a PPP connection? Say to a specific branch for example. Just curious if you can use multipule link types.

Purchased today 26th March 2012, used CD first as warned, followed procedures, will not connect to WAG 160N modem router. WAG160N has MAC restrictions but MAC of WRT160N added, both in wireless and as a computer. Still won´t connect, gets to 85% in wireless connect mode then fails, gets to stage 4 of router recognition and fails, saying check cables. Cables changed to know working ones, still no success. Tried pinging 192.168.1.1 direct from computer with no success, no access to router log-in page at all. WAG 160N has no problems.

I'm having trouble getting my Ubuntu 10.04 machine (Sony Vaio VGN-SR490) to connect to the Internet by way of an Ethernet cable connected directly to my router.
I'm able to connect to the Internet using this same cable using a Windows machine, way Linux is configured. [code] It looks like the network adapters list is empty. I will now install both Windows XP and Ubuntu Linux dual-boot. I'm still not able to access the internet, even through Windows. I'm wonder if this could be a hardware problem with the computer or a problem with the router itself. Other computers can connect to this same router, and work fine.

My WinXP Home PC won't connect properly (limited connectivity/no internet) via ethernet cable to my router (Belkin N150). Ipconfig /all shows the IP address as 169.254.117.71 but this is determined by an entry in the registry at HLMSYSTEMCurre....'DhcpIPAddress' - REG_SZ - 169.254.117.71. Also listed at 'IPAutoconfigurationAddress'. My laptop connects fine plugged into the same port getting it's IP automatically (192.168.2.2) and getting internet fine. I've tried adding a DWORD entry 'IPAutoconfigurationEnabled' = 0, also tried deleting the 2 values.Tried setting the IP manually to 192.168.2.6 - limited connectivity goes away but I get no internet connection from the router nor file sharing.

In my main office, I have a cable modem which is connected to my main E4200 router. All of my equipment (except my Ooma) is served by the E4200. The E4200 broadcasts a wireless network. In my basement, I have a Wii / entertainment center. The E4200 signal from upstairs isn't strong enough to stream video.
I bought the WET610N and have successfully set it up to interact with the E4200 wirelss network. I can hardwire my laptop to the WET610N and verify the internet works greatHowever, the Wii must connect over wireless. I have other equipment in the basement which would benefit from an internet connection. So, I want to A) connect the ESXS88W 10/100 8-port workgroup switch I have to the WET610N *AND* also broadcast a wireless signal in my basement (assuming the wireless network I see in the basement is the same "old" one from upstairs which has not benefited from the WET610N).
How can I set up my WRT54G2 to broadcast a wireless signal in the basement so that it leverages the E4200 signal served by the WET610N, while also having the workgroup switch offer hardwired connections to my other equipment (like Dish Network receiver)? It doesn't seem to work by just plugging the WRT54G2 into the workgroup switch.
