I'm trying to get a DS lite connected to my university's wifi, which I learned doesn't broadcast a Wireless-b signal, which a DS needs to connect. Can I setup a my own router connected to an ethernet port, configure it to boardcast wireless-b and get on wifi through that? I asked another forum which said yes, but I want to make sure before I buy anything.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've a WLC 2106 and it is running IOS version 7.0.240. I am trying to setup a wireless mesh and used the Ethernet bridge port on the MAP to extend the network. The wireless mesh works fine but I can not get the switch to work that is connected to the ethernet port on the MAP.I'm using two different Access points. I'm using a Air Cap 3502i as the RAP and a Air Lap1142N as the MAP.The switch port that is connected to the RAP and MAP is configured as the following:

switchport trunk allowed vlan 10,20,30,40

The wireless mesh between the RAP and MAP works fine. I can connect a device to the MAP wirelessly and access the network with no problem but I can not get anything to work that connects to the switch that is connected to the MAP ethernet port.
There is no "blinking light" indication on my E3000 at the Internet (Yellow label) and Ethernet port no 4. I tried plugging in 2 cables at all of the ports. I got the blinking indication at Port 1 through 3. The same cable's have no response at Port 4 and Internet port. As a result my I am not able to connect to the internet.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI bought my laptop over a year ago. The wireless is really slow. I read other posts about this issue and found out that the network adapter(n1030) on this laptop is faulty or something. So I tried connecting to the internet using the Ethernet port.
The port shows up on my device manager.Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller.I know there is nothing wrong with the modem or the Ethernet cable because internet on the other computers in my house work fine.
I would also like to add that when I bought the computer, it came with windows 7 but had the ubuntu sticker on it. People in Fiji only mostly use windows so I guess the shop I bought this from did the change to windows themselves.
I have a Dell Laptop Latitude 610 and I have not been able to connect to the Internet via the ethernet cable port for some four months now. The wireless router works fine - I have several devices that will connect wireless with no problem. The hp desktop I'm trying with the wired connection is showing that the ethernet connection is working, but it's not asking for the wireless network name or security code, and the internet will not work?I made sure the desktop was set up to automatically obtain IP addresses, then I did the "ipconfig /flushdns / ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew commands, but it still won't work.

However, when I downoaded the software to set it up again, it said it was not compatable with my Mac OS (X Lion 10.7.4). I am sure there is a way to manually set it up via an ethernet connection, but I am at a loss as to how to do that. I've tried restarting my laptop (it usually works) and then reinstalled the device under "device manager". I think that this started after my Hard drive failed and Dell replaced it but i'm not positive. No errors (? or !) in Device Manager and I can't find the Marvell 88E80XX 10/100 Ethernet Controller in device manager. I have attempted to Reinstall the drivers. The wireless is still working. I have one Light to the right of the port that is on all the time solid but no flashing with the cable in or out.

View 11 Replies View RelatedMy computer ethernet port recognizes any modem but will not recognize any wireless routers. My ISP (DSL) spent 3 hours on the phone with me and can't figure it out. I have also contacted Gateway, figuring it must be my computer. I make money on the side fixing computers, so I do have a good idea as to what is what. I run Win7 on a Gateway DX4822 with Intel Pentium Dou-core. I have searched and searched for months and have found nothing. I have asked this question on various forums (including Microsoft) and still nothing.
I have wireless connectivity with a USB 2.0 WAN antenna. I also have a blu-ray player, XBox 360, and Wii all hooked up through this router. The player and XBox are wired, the Wii and a printer is wireless.I have had all things disconnected while trying to solve this issue, thinking that somehow there wasn't enough juice getting through. The cable works. I have tried resets, powerdowns, restarts, system recovery (at one point for a few days it did work as I shared internet from a friend upstairs from me), system restore, many different wireless routers AND modems. With the router connected, the ethernet port light does NOT come on. With the modem directly connected, the light DOES come on. Other computers/laptops in the house work wired into the router.
I have a D-link WBR-2310 wireless router connected to a ZyXEL P-600 series modem. Everything worked fine untill a couple days ago when I had a power surge; since then the wireless router won't show on the modem that the ethernet cable is plugged in, and I get no wireless or DSL internet. I called the internet service provider, and they told me to reset both the modem and the router, which I did and it worked fine for about an hour; then it didn't recognize the cable again. I'm finally jumping in over Christmas break to set up a Y network with three routers. I run a side business repairing and cleaning viruses/malware from PCs and would like the business subnet not to be able to mix with (and possibly infect) the "home" subnet.Before I knew what I was doing, I set up a simple two router "chained" network by hanging an old SMC router off my main Airport Extreme router, but I've since learned that's not ideal, since the "work" network machines can see everything on the "home" network. So, here's what I want to do. I want to put the new third router right after my cable modem (ISP). I want to keep my Airport Extreme and all devices attaching to it (home subnet) off one LAN port of this new router and my old SMC router off another LAN port of the new router (the test subnet). Currently, the IPs are: [code]My concern in setting up a "Y" configuration is that I have some wireless IP webcams on the Airport Extreme that are using port forwarding (both UDP and HTTP) so I can view them from wherever I am on the Internet, not just from within my home network.
What's the best way to make sure the port forwarding from devices on the Airport Extreme subnet works through the "new" router and out through to the Internet? Do I have to open the same ports on the new router? If so, does anyone have an example using the addresses above? Should I just put the Airport Extreme in the DMZ of the new router (so everything is just passed through - or will that allow my test subnet to see the home subnet? Some other way?

They both have the same network name (e.g. the wifi network is named 'apple', and when i connect through ethernet in my room the name is also 'apple') I need to have wifi in my room.
