Netgear Router Not Port Forwarding

Mar 27, 2011

Trying to connect to a computer on a client's network. He has a Netgear WGR614v9 router. I talked him through opening port 23 to 192.168.1.200. I have done this many times on other routers and it should have been simple but could not connect. Had him enable ping response so I could ping his router to verify the connection and ping was good. Tried my port scanner and only port 21 is open. Had client verify the port forwarding data and it is correct. Does he need to restart the router to enable port forwarding?

Port Forwarding Not Working (Netgear DGND3700v2)

Oct 10, 2012

I'm trying to set up a Minecraft server so I can appear to be a hero to my 8 year old son. I have to forward a port to 25565 adn I've followed all the instructions on how to do this on my netgear DGND3700v2. I've also turned off my Windows 7 firewall, but when I go to a test website, I still get a message saying the port is closed. I don't have a static IP address, is this absolutely critical or does it just mean that the boys will have to log on to a new IP address each time they want to play?

Mismatched Port Forwarding On Netgear FVG318?

Jul 28, 2011

At work, our proxy blocks everything except for HTTP(S), FTP, and a small handful of other company-specific ports on the _outbound_ connection. On my router, I like to port-forward SSH to my Linux computer server at home but since at work IT blocks out-bound SSH, I have to masquerade the SSH port-forward on my server to get past the corporate proxy. Normally, I've done this in the past by doing something like WAN:9090 (allowed by my IT) --> LAN:22 in my router's port forwards to get SSH routed to my Linux box from the web.

I recently purchased a Netgear FVG318 and it doesn't look like it supports this kind of configuration. In the Security->Firewall Rules->Inbound Rules section of the router configuration I see how to do a port-forward but they only have a drop-down selection of common protocols and will simply 1:1 forward the ports. It doesn't look like it allows to do mis-matched ports on the forward like I'd like to do.

Netgear N300 / Cisco 2950 - Port Forwarding With No Router

Jul 9, 2013

I have been having problems with my router. I have a Net gear N300 v2, but I am not asking for support with said router. Forwarding network traffic from the Internet to a server and then have it properly re-routed. I have never done this sorta thing before, but I want to go into a career in I.T. when I'm older. As a side note, I have already figured out that ditching the router requires to have a software DHCP server, which I am using Windows Server 2008 Data center and it's built in role as DHCP server.

DNS is also configured. The modem a Motorola Surf Board is connected directly to a Cisco Catalyst 2950, and that connects all of the rest of the network, also via a 3Com SUper Stack Hub, and a little 8-port HP Advance Stack J2610A, which connects to all of my wireless AP.

Difference Between Netgear N600 WNDR 3400 And 3700

Dec 31, 2012

The only difference I can see is the 3700 has gigabit ports. Any other performance differences about with these two routers? I already have the 3400 but I am wondering if I chose the wrong router seeing as the 3700 is only ten bucks more. What there experiences were or there knowledge of these two products or even opinions. I have a gaming PC hard wired, ps3 wireless, nexus 7 wireless, and LG Media Player wireless in a 1400 square foot house with one wall between ps3 and 2 walls between media player. I doubt range will be an issue with either routers though. I might transfer files between PC's later on but 10/100 should still be pretty good speed or not so much?

Wireless Bridges To Pair Up With Netgear WNDR 3700?

Oct 13, 2011

I bought this wireless router about a year+ ago, and it's just great. It's attached to the cable modem "downstairs" and right now it supports 2 smartphones wirelessly plus an ancient wired cable to an "upstairs" home office.

I'd like to improve overall performance with a wireless bridge to a gigabit hub in the upstairs office. I'd also like to add a second wireless bridge so I can stream movies to a box that would be attached to my TV, which does not have built-in wireless access.

Trendnet seems to have some interesting wireless bridges, but in the past I had a Trendnet wireless router with really, reallly bad software.

Netgear 3700 Efficient Setup Of Home Network

Jan 16, 2011

Looking for the most efficient setup of my home network. I recently bought the netgear 3700 and it has been great. I also have a trendnet green 8 port giga switch. Both of these will be located in my equipment closet.

I also have an ooma voip hub. before i did the router upgrade i had modem>ooma hub>router. Mainly had it that way since the previous router was a wrg614 and i thought the hub probably had better qos routing. I now have the 3700 infront since i think it does that. I need to learn how to setup the qos though. Problem is that having the hub after the router loses one of my 11 ports (i have pleanty now).

Will speed through the switch be as fast as straight from the router? should my netflix devices connect directly to the router or does any of this matter. [code]

Cisco Routers :: RV042G - Port Forwarding To 2 Different Destinations Based On Incoming Wan Port

Apr 22, 2013

how to: port forwarding to 2 different destinations based on incoming WAN port

The default HTTP service works fine: TCP80/80-> 192.168.0.55

I have a couple of IP security camera's I'd like to be able to access remotely that also listen on port 80. I tried TCP & UDP 8009/8009-> 192.168.0.9 without any luck. Not sure how to handle the port redirects on the RV042G? Seems simple and was on the Symantec, could be user training :-)

I was able to do port redirect with the Symantec Firewall I'm replacing.

Cisco Firewall :: Change Default SSH Port On ASA 5505 (port Forwarding)

Dec 2, 2011

So here is my network.

ASA5505--->Cisco1841--->Cat2960
Code
ASA asa831-k8.bin
Cisco 1841 c1841-adventerprisek9-mz.151-4.M2.bin
Cat 2960 c2960-lanbasek9-mz.122-55.SE1.bin

and here is my dilemma.

I can SSH from the internet to my ASA on default port 22, directly to my public IP.  I can SSH from the internet to my Cisco 1841 on port 2001. I can not however, SSH to my Cat 2960.  From what i can tell, on the Cat2960 i can't change the default port 22 for SSH to different port, just like i did on the Cisco 1841.  I looked to see if I can change the default port for SSH on he ASA, it does not look like this is an option.

The bottom line is that i want to be able to SSH to all three devices from the internet.  I only have one public IP.  As of now, what i can do is only SSH to the ASA on default port 22 directly to the public IP and Cisco 1841 on port 2001.  It appears that changing the default SSH port on Cat 2960 is not an option.  It also appears that I can't change the default SSH port on the ASA, if i could, i would and then i should be able to SSH to the Cat 2960 on port 22. No matter what i did on the ASA, it always listens on port 22 for SSH connections.

show asp table socket
TCP       001f549f  <<pub IP>>:22              0.0.0.0:*               LISTEN

how do i make it listen on different port?

Here is relevent config for SSH for cisco 1841 (port forwarding)

D-Link DIR-655 :: Subsonic Port Forwarding / Get Machine - Port From Outside / Internet

Feb 16, 2011

I am having an issue opening a port (4040) on the 655 for my Fedora-based subsonic server.  Inside the LAN, I can see the device from other peer machines, so I am confident the port is open and listening.  However, I can't seem to get to the machine-port from outside/internet.

I have tried Virtual Server and Port Forwarding with single port.  The server has a stactic IP which I've included in the DHCP range and outside the range.  I have a DSL connection (AT&T), modem only.  I have updated firmware.  I have exhausted the Subsonic community's knowledge, everything points to the router, but all the settings seem correct.  What am I missing?  Is if possible there is a defect in the router? (don't laugh).  Is there a way to trace a request to that port to see where it is hanging?

(yes, I've STFA, but don't know what else to do).

Cisco :: Not Enough Port Fields In Port Forwarding For Linksys E4200

Jul 16, 2011

I have always used netgear routers in the past. After a series of issues regarding configurations not working correctly I invested in what appeared to be a semi pro router, the cisco linksys e4200.

I have a centralized server which I use to access a mass of different services such as mail, dns, VPN, FTP, Kerberos, http and many more. While I am not a massive networking ****, this server setup is like my garage project. To access these services externally to my LAN as far as I understand I would need to configure port forwarding for each service to my server. Unfortunately the control panel for the linksys E4200 only offers about 15 custom port fields for forwarding, and some documentation I have read shows that with it's basic install my server could be using up to 60 ports at once.

Is this router just not suitable for this sort of network. If so I will be very disappointed because I have spent a quarter of the price on netgear routers with more control than this.

Netgear WNDR3400 Ports Only Forwarding For Network?

May 16, 2011

Now my problem refers to the game Minecraft specifically, but I believe it has more to do with the router than the game, so that's why I am posting on here. To let people connect to your Minecraft server, you need to set a static IP and forward the port 25565. I have followed all of the tutorials for that on this site to the letter, and yet all I can do is make people in my network able to connect. Now before you say this has nothing to do with you guys, I also want to point out that the port checker tool says that port is closed, on both UDP and TCP. For some reason following these guides only opens my port to the network that connects through the router, either wirelessly or wired. So therefore any port checking tools or sites say that it is closed. I have checked my firewalls, turned them off, uninstalled them and that doesn't work. And no, people can't connect through the network unless I forward the ports, so I am actually doing something when I try to forward them. I am running Windows Vista x64-bit
