Tried to set up with my AT&T dsl moden. Cannot access internet when everything is connected. At&t says they do not support Netgear, so they couldnt facilitate. They sell Netgear on their website.

I already have the 3400 but I am wondering if I chose the wrong router seeing as the 3700 is only ten bucks more. What there experiences were or there knowledge of these two products or even opinions. I have a gaming PC hard wired, ps3 wireless, nexus 7 wireless, and LG Media Player wireless in a 1400 square foot house with one wall between ps3 and 2 walls between media player. I doubt range will be an issue with either routers though. I might transfer files between PC's later on but 10/100 should still be pretty good speed or not so much?

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy problem is with xbox live, i have the WNDR 3400 N600 Dual Band Router and i have been experiencing lag spikes since the day i have gotten it. I used to have a wireless adapter and i thought that was the problem so i recently went out and bought a 200 ft ethernet cable so now im hardlined to the router I have the xbox set to highest priority, i have it set with a static ip address for the dmz so i have no restrictions, i have all ports opened just in case, i have great internet speeds : 18.04 mbps download and 4.03 mbps upload and nothing seems to work.. i still have lag that sometimes disconnects me from xbox live and ruins the whole gaming experience.

Had problems getting "limited connectivity etc" messages 'cos wasn't getting IP address allocated. Have now manually allocated IP address and connection status is now "Connected" (with no warning about limited connectivity etc). However I can't connect to the internet.

I have to reset the modem then the router constantly and it gets irritating. I called comcast and they say reset them. But why should I have to constantly reset.... I'd like to improve overall performance with a wireless bridge to a gigabit hub in the upstairs office. I'd also like to add a second wireless bridge so I can stream movies to a box that would be attached to my TV, which does not have built-in wireless access.
Trendnet seems to have some interesting wireless bridges, but in the past I had a Trendnet wireless router with really, reallly bad software.
I have tried opening the ports on xboxs website. tried dmz. tried both. i have a basic understanding of changing your xboxs ip.i have disabled windows firewalls and got rid of macafee altogether.

I am using Wireles and LAN.My router was Netgear DG843N which was intermittently dropping the connection to the net. I tried corrective action but the problem continued.On the advice from Netgear tyech support,I tried just using LAN - that didn't work. Then they suggested using another router,so I purchased a Netgear DGN1000 Router.This did not resiolve the problem so I contacted Netgear who suggested several things to do.As the XP was connecting to the router both wireless and LAN we decided that it was not a router problem.All of my devices attached o the router ( printer - Vista pc- Win 7 laptop)are working correctly,just the XP pc that is not.

I have a dell vostro 3400, and I can connect to any wifi network, and while other computers can get internet through them, I can only get limited access. Also, I am running connectify(internet sharing program), a virtual wifi router and I can connect devices to it, but they cannot get internet through it (even when my laptop gets it through Ethernet). Is this a hardware problem? Software, OS? I've had the comp for over a year and it's always worked perfectly.

At the moment it keeps fluctuating between giving me interne and not I am using Skype to tell me if I have Internet ( when it's green I do when it's grey I don't) I have tried many things on forums like obtaining ip automatically or obtaining a fixed ip. View 3 Replies View Relatedyesterday I had switched between my two wireless routers, I went from my Linksys WRTU54G-TM back to my Netgear WGT624v3 because I read that the Netgear provided better range and a bit better speed. I understand that this could be the problem but when I tried to swap out to the Linksys, during the setup, it claims that I have no running internet. The modem is fine, I hooked it straight to my laptop AND my desktop. Now the problem is, I have my desktop and my Xbox 360 connected into the LAN ports, I can connect with my phone and my iTouch wirelessly. My laptop I'm afraid will connect but will not associate with the internet and therefore I cannot access the internet. The Router is a G router and the laptop has a standard wireless g adapter built in.
View 19 Replies View RelatedMy old router (a dlink dir-615) works just fine, but I figured I would upgrade and try to run OpenWRT or DD-WRT so that I could have one VPN for all my devices.
Anyway, I took the router out and followed the instructions (power off modem for at least 1 minute, connect modem to router, router to computer via ethernet, turn on modem first, wait for it to fully boot up, turn on router, wait for it to fully boot up, and then run the setup on routerlogin.net. The router is currently setup and I can connect my computer or iphone to it just fine, but I cannot access the internet. It doesn't make a difference whether I'm connected via ethernet or wifi. Either way, I get a "No Internet Access" message from Windows 7.
I've tried turning everything off and starting again. No luck. When I go back to my dlink router, everything works fine again.
So, in short:
Modem + ethernet = internet
Modem + Netgear router + ethernet = no internet
Modem + Netgear router + wifi = no internet
Modem + Dlink router (wifi...haven't tried ethernet) = internet
well a couple days of go it was working fine until i updated windows 7 now it says im connected to the internet but when i go on it dosnt load anything, and when i go check it says that "IPv6 connectivity: No Internet access" how ever the IPv4 is connected to the internet, should i restore settings to osmetimes earlier this week

View 1 Replies View Relatedfor the first time i tried to connect my laptop to a wireless connection... a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark flashed over the wireless icon...it said identifying the network and then said no internet access... i tried all the methods... i am not able to renew the ip address or reset it.... the network protection is wpa/wpa2 psk.... i know there is no problem with my router as all my other devices can access net through it.... i tried disabling the firewall and then connecting... but with no luck...in the status of the network i have ipv6= no internet access... ipv4= no internet access... when i troubleshoot the network it says invalid ip address... and when i manually enter ip address in ipv6.. there it also says invalid ip address...

I have tried a couple different wireless adapters and it has persisted. I have had my laptop next to me to see if they both lost connectivity at the same time to see if maybe it was my router or modem losing internet but my laptop remains connected fine. View 1 Replies View RelatedI got 3 windows 7 pc's at home. IP V6 and IP 4 are enabled. I setup my wireless system and it worked 100%. After 3 months I add a LAN cable to two of my PC's. This is when it all started. My internet browsing became very very slow. When i shutdown the one machine it become fast again. I did the following. Pulled the LAN cable and it was still slow. I then put the cable back and disabled the Wi-Fi and it still was very slow. I rested the defaults and restored my old backup and it still slow. Now I can get any access to the internet any more. I the disconnected the netgear router and take a cheap router with only LAN ports and it work 100%. All the above i did with many router and server reboots.

Santa got a second-hand acer mini-laptop for my daughter this last Christmas and she accidentally pour some coke in it, I took it to the shop and I had to pay to repair it; when I got it back, the first thing is that originally it has Windows 7 and now XP, I thought it was ok, but even though I use my network passkey and everything, it quickly connected to the network showing internet access but when I open IE, it shows a message to diagnose connection problems, I run the repair wizard and nothing, but all the time it is showing that the connection is working, will I need to take it back to the shop or is there something I can do?

I've already set to obtain IP address automatically and still not enabled. The wireless connection was working fine a few days ago, and seems to have been reset by the ISP causing these issues. Other devices are also unable to get internet though they can detect and connect to the router. Here is my ipconfig/all. Note: I am in China so my settings are possibly different than what you're used to.

I see the router and the modem are working just fine as usual and even the guy from comcast says there is nothing wrong with the internet connection itself.The problems I am having right now are
- I can only access to Facebook, Spotify, but nothing else.
- It sometimes randomly comes back and everything works but then it only lasts for a few minutes-hours and it goes off and won't work again. I've tried resetting the modem, router, and I even tried creating a new network but nothing worked out so far.I currently own a mac and a windows 7 laptop.
When I looked up the internet connection status, for the packets that I received 236, I only receive 30-40. When I click repair, it said the IP address already renewed. However, the internet still not working. When I use my laptop to browse the internet, it said the same thing, internet connected but cannot browse at all.
I tried so many things, such as clearing the DNS cache, releasing and renewing IP address, I did set the properties of the wireless connection to obtain DNS and IP automatically, I tried pinging, I turned off all my firewalls, I tried system restore, but still not working.
I run cmd /all, it got the following information:

Im having some problems connecting to the internet. my router is perfectly connected but i cant have wireless internet connection. when i plug the cable in the wall socket and in my computer, it works perfectly. View 1 Replies View RelatedEverything worked fine until I went to move my desk to a different area and had to unplug everything. Upon plugging everything back up - my desktop internet works fine, but the laptop says "Connected but no internet access". I've tried working on it for 2 hours unplugging and replugging cords back up and I can't get any internet access on my laptop. I am using a cable modem. Currently I have the blue ethernet cord running from the modem, directly into my computer. I also have a grey cord that apparently was plugged into the router somehow but I don't remember how exactly I had this one plugged up. The cable modem only has one jack, for "ethernet". The router is a Linksys WRT54G and has 4 numbered (1-4) jacks in the back and then one jack for "internet". The laptop is running Windows 7, and the desktop (which the internet runs fine on right now) is running Vista.
