My school forces me to install an enterprise security program in order to connect to their network and get online. Its very bloated, and i can't edit the settings, they make it scan my computer everyday and so on.I want to use my OWN security program which i bought (norton).Is there any way to work around this requirement to get online on their network?
View 2 RepliesI have a piece of software that I suspect is sending unwanted data over the internet to some IP address. I'm not an expert in anything related to computer networks, but I figure I could use such software after playing around a little with it.What application could I use that would so the following:
a) capture all the bytes the application is trying to send out so that it seems to the application it is doing it and see the place it was trying to send it
b) after inspecting the data, if it was ok, send the packages to wherever it was supposed to go so that it seems the original application sent.
So i have AT&T dsl internet. but whenever i connect my computer wirelessly to the modem and get on the internet it repeatedly loses dsl connection every some odd minutes. the dsl light on my modem turns off, then blinks red, then fixes itself for five or so minutes until the cycle restarts. ive tried 2 wireless usb adapter and 1 internal wireless card. none have worked at all. but if its wired with an ethernet cord it works fine. we also have 2 other laptops that connect wirelessly and work fine. i dont understand what would cause this solely on my computer. ive also had AT&T come to my house and look at it and they said its fine, the issue is somewhere in my computer messing with the modem.

1. I cannot establish an HTTPS connection to the Management port - https://192.168.1.1/admin
2. When connecting via the console port I get prompted with a username and password sequence that I don't know
I get an SSL Version Error message when I try to connect with any browser. although I did find a way to resolve it, it requires a console port connection which is not working either.This is not my typical experience with the console or ASDM port setup.
I have two windows.Windows XP and seven.My Windows XP cant connect to the internet.I was downloading a file With IE when my ISP experienced problems and my internet was shut down.Internet explorer was not responding and finally crashed my whole computer.from then on no programs like IE ,Google Chrome , Firefox or even VPN and Dial-up connections can get me connected to the internet. I installed windows seven and internet works fine there but MANY of my programs are on the xp and i'm more familiar with that windows. How to connect that to the internet? [code]

Here is my scenario : 5 users on a network with their own workstations, IT Technicians, Sales and Marketing, Admin, HR and Manager...All these users need to access different files on the network so here is what I want, I need for the IT guy to log on into his PC and only see files that he needs on his account and the same thing should apply for other users on their accounts..They should only see files and folders that are relevant to them.

recommendations on a hardware/software inventory tool that comes with an agent.I manage a windows network of about 150 machines and would like to be able to install the agent on each machine and then get an overview of all the machines on the network with list all their installed hardware and software. Also we have laptops that leave the network. I would like them to "phone home" once in a while to check in.The reason I'm looking for an agent vs agent-less is I don't want to have to poke hole in the local firewalls or have to configure remote access per machine. Just looking to deploy the agent. Spiceworks almost does all this but doesn't have a stable agent yet as far as I know.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm new to IT, and have been put in charge of managing our servers hile my boss is on vacation.We currently have a Sonicwall Network Security Appliance that handles our Firewall/VPN and have web content filtering set in place.I have a user who belongs to 2 CFS policy groups that we have set up. I've double checked with Active Directory, and he is a member of both groups.
This person SHOULD have access to Job searches/ and Restaurants,but receives a "content blocked" message on his browser.It appears to me that the settings in Sonicwall are correct, as well with AD member groups.
I am trying to connect to a Security-enabled wireless netowork. I have the key. My problem is that I can't seem to figure out how to enter it. When I try to connect I open the "view available networks"window. I see the network name and it shows a strong signal (all 5 green bars).

So in that program, I will need to fill the 'port server','IP server', 'port proxy', and 'IP proxy', then click connect. After that a black box similar to CMD box will come up(see image below) and I will be able to surf the internet. I can use IE, firefox, and Steam. But some program like Kaspersky, Yahoo messenger, MSN, ventrilo, teamspeak and the rest won't work at all.

View 7 Replies View Relatedlaptop access (via wireless router) to program data resident on my PC. The subject program is installed (frequently updated) on my PC (Windows XP). Laptop (also Windows XP) use of this data for viewing and printing is the objective -- without also installing the program on the laptop. (The catch is frequent updates.)
Both units have access to broadband; direct for PC and wireless router for the laptop. Have no problem also installing program on laptop, if needed: laptop access to current data is the issue. Even doing so via internet would be great. It seems that LAN and Broadband networks are both in play though I don't quite grasp any inherent conflicts.

I regularly perform updates on servers and this normally requires a reboot. I would like to be able to inform my customers when the server is back ASAP. Is there a program that continuously tries to remote to the server until it does or is there a script I can add to the server to send me notification of when the server ia back up?

I want to do this because for some reason, using Google DNS in Turkey makes the game not start forcing me to use the DNS servers of my Internet provider. (if only it tried the second DNS that I configured, it would start but for some reason it does not)

I work for my college/student and i am the assistant admin, my teacher gave me full admin privileges. View 2 Replies View RelatedHaving an issue with a Cisco Linksys E1500 on a home network. The device has a feature to provide a guest wireless network but the guest network can't get to the internet. A wired connection is fine, as is the normal wireless network but not the guest. The cheesy thing is, that it doesn't list an option for what type of wireless security protocol you want on the guest network. I'm assuming that it uses the same security protocol that the normal wireless network uses, but who knowsEspecially weird is that it asks you what password you want on the guest network but then the guest network show to be insecure when you try to connectthought maybe it was something funky with some of my configurations so I went ahead and factory defaulted it and just set it up with an insecure network for both the normal and guest networks. This didn't solve it. The guest network still couldn't get to the internet. In fact, the guest network can't even ping the router.

Now how our network is set up is Program 1 runs and server 1 and program 2 runs on server 2. server 1 and 2 and all user pc's are connected to a domain run by server 3. The programs 1+2 are installed on user computers and connected to thier respective servers to run. now the problem is program 1 kicks a random number of users off everyday at 10:15AM and program 2 does the same but at 12:45. its the same time and its every day. I have checked all servers for errors or conectivity issues and have found nothing.
