Using Vista Home Premium I've got a D-Link Dir628 router equipped with a USB printer port. All is well when it is working. However, at irregular intervals, the router and the printer do not communicate. The only way I can restore communication is to toggle the power on the router, then all is well until the next time this happens.

Samsung technicians have not been able to assist after multiple calls. They sent me to a printer repair store which reported they had no problem with the printer working on their wireless network. When I used the setup disk initially it would connect the printer to the network and I could print from my laptop wirelessly, but the connection never continued working more than a few hoursThe router has no problems in connecting to 3 different computers.

Xbox Live is a little spotty. Have never had a problem with it before. I have done all the resets, factory resets, hard resets, and any other names. When I attempt to enter any sort of IP addresses, default Belkins and ones I see when viewing ipconfig, all it does is perform a Google Search with the numbers.

This plan was not followed through, but I'd like to switch it's function to work as a core router on our BGP network. I'd like for this 7200 to be able to handle full routes from our eBGP peer, something the SUP module in my 6500 isn't capable of doing. What kind of SUP module should i look at replacing this 7200 VXR with?

I have run into a problem replacing an old Linksys BEFVP41 with a SA520. The BEFVP41 had an address on the LAN defined as a DMZ. That address was another router. It is in the same subnet as the local LAN and I am not sure what ports it uses. It is controlled by an outside group and requires much delay and paperwork to change the address. The new SA520 will only support a DMZ if it is in a different subnet than the LAN. Any way to simulate the old DMZ function on the newer router? I have not yet been able to obtain a list of all ports that should go to the second router. Didn't know if there was a way to forward all ports like the old BEFVP41 does by setting a DMZ address.

After some days trying to understand why, I saw that it was needed to enable some options at 192.168.0.1. So, I went there and enabled IPsec PassThrough and PPTP PassThrough under the router options and also added my MAC Addr. Then I restarted the router, However when I try to connect into it again (via DHCP, auto IP), it says "null/limited connection" ( I cant even try a vpn connection, Since it is null/limited, I have to choose static ip mode, inserting a IP/gateway/my service DNS under network options, then I can connect to internet again (see image), but router is still blocking the VPN access, hanging at "verifying account. And password." later gives error 619 related to router blocking

Cable from the socket into a dlink router (set to operate as a hub).My reason for this setup was due to the rubbish wireless signal from the virgin hub, and the fact that I have various other bits of kit downstairs that I could use an ethernet cable with.The question is, IF my laptops are connected to the router downstairs by an ethernet cable and I want to transfer some files between them, will the data be routed through the virgin media hub upstairs before coming back to the router that both laptops are connected to downstairs? I have just done a test with 30gb worth of files and the transfer speed was 8.7MB/second, is that good for wireless?

I have a Dell Powerconnect 5424 switch that I'd like to use in place of the unmanaged switches I am currently using.I have the switch configured with it's IP, subnet, gateway, etc. I can plug devices into it and communicate with no problems. However, when I attempt to plug in the router, nothign will communicate to or from the switch. The devices I plugged in will not talk to each outer, ping the switch, or the router. Also cannot ping to the switch from a device plugged into the router. If I unplug the router, comm opens back up.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI currently have a d-link DIR-615E3 with the latest dd-wrt firmware (v24 from 2010-12-13). Everything seems to be ok when I boot up the router - with factory settings and unsecured wireless, I have an internet connection. When I enter the GUI, create a router username/password, everything is still fine. Then, when I create a wireless security password (WPA2 personal) I lose internet connection, and the only way to get it back is to do a hard reset of the router. This also happens if I change any setting within the ddwrt interface, not just the wireless settings. (I also have a linksys WRT54GL with ddwrt with absolutely no problems) My cable modem is a motorola surfboard SB5101U, ISP is comcast cable, running windows 7.

I tried updating the firmware to the latest (1.0.04) but am still experiencing the same thing.I don't lose internet access, I lose connection to the router itself. If I power cycle the router, the connection is re-established and I'm able to access the router and in turn the internet. I'm seeing this on both wired and wireless connections. Last night the Cisco logo actually turned off when I lost connection (this was a first). When I power cycled, connection was restored and the logo lit up again.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWe are trying to figure out how to configure this properly and so far we are stuck. We have a VMWare server with two different vmnics each on a different VLAN. We have each of these vmnics connected into their own switch port on a 3560G along with the appropriate VLAN membership for said ports. We have an additional port on this same switch in trunking mode connected to our firewall to a NIC that has an IP address in the respective VLAN networks. This port is also set for dot1q encapsulation. Each VLAN also has an IP set on the switch that is in the appropriate VLAN. We are having issues in this configuration getting the one VLAN to talk to another.
I know if we were in all Cisco mode then we would use ROAS to do this inter-vlan communication. How to make this happen short of changing hardware?

Router is configured to be a DHCP server (default configuration).
I assigned the router a custom WAN side MAC to match one of my two PCs to avoid having to call AT&T to get things running.
Results: Everything runs perfectly fine initially, but after leaving and coming back to either system (left on, in standby) after quite a while (going to work / bed), the network connection is dead.
WINIPCFG still reports the same IP, but seems to hang forever if I attempt to release / renew. The router's is unreachable for configuration / status (it's still on the default IP of 192.168.1.1) Pressing the reset button on the back of the router restores the internet connection (quickly too - I'm back online in about 15 seconds).
Entering standby manually and coming back out again after just a couple minutes does not affect the internet connection - it seems to only occur when I'm off for an extended period of time. I have no had the time to determine what the period of time is, and if it is a fixed time since DHCP lease / initial startup, or if it is a fixed amount of inactivity time (or maybe even not a fixed amount of time at all).
I'm about to return my E3000 because I can't figure this problem out. As you know a new Apple TV was released and along with it you now have the capability to send music and photos from iTunes on your laptop to your Apple TV which you can then play on your TV. These two components communicate through your wireless router. However this is not happening because (I believe) that the E3000 is blocking something (a port, some rouge firewall setting, etc.). I would be happy opening every frigging port this thing has and blocking all it's internal firewalls just to see if I can get these two devices working correctly. The software that allows this to all occur is called Airplay via your homeshare g network. Any success in getting your Apple TV and your iTunes and perhaps your iPhone to call communicate together or how the E3000 works.

I noticed when I brought my computer to my room (which is where i usually use my computer) it said that there were connections available where the signal bar is. Which is odd because it usually just auto connects. So i clicked on the signal bar and connected to my internet, but it lost the connection shortly after so I clicked connect again and it said windows was unable to connect to the router. Then shortly after that it said no connections were available. So i brought the computer to the computer to the family room ,where the router is, to check the router. It was nothing wrong with the router so I looked back at the computer and it was automatically connected to the internet with a five bar connection, but when i left the family room with the computer it immediately lost the signal. So i decided i should just stay in the family room. The next day the same problem occured and i went back to the family room to use the computer but i noticed the connection wasnt usually at five bars like it usually is wen im that close to the router but it was 4 bars or 3.
The next day i went over my fathers house for the weekend, and when im over there i pretty much always have a five bar connection even though im not in the same room as the router because im 1 floor directly above the router. Now when i used the computer over my dads house it had a 3 bar connection, disconnected from the internet at times, and when i try to connect bak it said that windows could not connect to router like it had said in my room bak at my own house, even though it always used to have a very high connection before this problem happened. So wen i got bak to my house i went to the family room to connect to the internet and now im having the same problems i had over my dads house. Now i try deleting some programs to see if they affected the internet and have even turned off some start off services on using mpconfig but that didnt work either
My laptop loses connection to the router.... constantly. When it disconnects I check my available networks and the laptop will not pick up any... neighbors or my own, I refresh they show up ...I have my network set as the preferred so it will always attempt to reconnect when available; Sometimes it starts to reconnect then drops off and cannot see available networks again! If I am able to reconnect... Sometimes I don't even have time to refresh my browser before it disconnects again; however sometimes I stay connected for hours at a time, other times/days just can't stay connected very long and becomes so frustrating that I just shut down the laptop and say "Fahgetaboutit"
I thought it was the network driver and a intel has an update(even though my LT doesn't show that I need it), I downloaded the update first knowing that I would be with out internet service after removing the old driver software but the new software installation always gives an error that it cannot install with older version present even after I'm sure I've removed it ... Not sure what to do... I ran cmd: ipconfig /all>network.txt&network.txt and here is the result of that straight from the activated notepad:

Also live in an old house with thick walls so the family are always complaining about the poor wireless connection.So I bought a new router, netgear DGN3500, which on the whole seemed pretty good out of the box, but now it is randomly dropping the internet connection. Sometimes this is solved by rebooting the router, but just now this didn't do it and only turning it off completely for 30" and turning it back on again gave me back my connection (DownStream Connection Speed 3680 kbps, UpStream Connection Speed 416 kbps - which is as good as it gets on the end of my phone line).

The router (and Intel) shows enabled and good signal and my husband's laptop shows no interruption. My wifi keeps trying to reconnect but can't. After that period then all devices gain access back. We have a Cisco Linksys router, Model number WRT110, it is the Range Plus version. I got it 6 months ago from a friend that had never pulled it out of the box or used it. I used it before moving and it did not have this problem. View 4 Replies View RelatedMy dependable WRT160N started behaving oddly during last week.Suddenly without apparent cause, its whole configuration is restored to factory default by itself.I've noticed one week ago and last night when I lost my internet connection that the router changed its admin IP, login, ISP settings, Etc to factory default.I've used this router for almost 3 years or so with no problem at all. Always fast and easy.I'm using port forwarding, TZO account, NAS, protected WiFi settings, FW... Etc and is really annoying to rebuild everything once a week.

One of SG200 interfaces is set as a Supplicant ant it authenticates in RADIUS (FreeRADIUS) server via C881 router. WinXP and other PC clients authenticate in RADIUS via SG200. Now: Authentication works perfectly. Ports open as they're supposed to. I'm able to reach RADIUS from SG200 and vice versa but there is a problem with WinXP. When i connect it to SG200 it authenticates, port opens and I'm able to reach RADIUS or any host on the left hand side but only for 300 seconds. After that period of time C881 looses WinXP from its ARP table and any communication fails. I cant even reach C881's interface facing SG200. Then i type:
c881(config-if)#dot1x port-control force-authorized
C881 learns WinXP's MAC and IP again and all gets back to normal. When I type
c881(config-if)#dot1x port-control auto
after 300 seconds C881 forgets WinXP again and communication brakes down.
How is it possible that a router forgets MAC of host its continuously "talking" with?
Have you ever seen this kind of behaviour? I tried with two other software revisions on C881 and resoult is always the same. Bug or feature?
In EIGRP, if a router loses the successor to a route, and it has no FS, it goes active (starts asking all neighbors if they have a successor for that route).But if the neighbor did have a successor, shouldn't they have pro-actively told us about it when they learned it (so we already have it as the Feasible Successor?).
View 6 Replies View RelatedSeveral times a day our router will lose its connection to the internet (the internet light goes off, while the wireless signal stays on). All the computers in the house lose connection to the network while this happens. It will usually happen two or more times right after each other, so the computers can re-connect for a few seconds and then the connection will drop again. Eventually, after this repeats a few times, everything returns to normal.We've tried swapping cables, microfilters and 3 different routers (though all the same model). We tried the test socket, but the same problem happens. An engineer came to test the line but said he couldn't detect any problems. We have good download/upload speeds while the router stays connected and no noise on the phone line. I'm fed up of going in circles with the ISP tech support so I came here instead...One other thing I tried was OpenDNS, but that made no difference either...
Info: The router is a ZyXEL P-660HW-T1 v3... I've tried updating the firmware on it, but it wouldn't let me... If I remember correctly the Router Configuration Interface told me I don't have permission to do that.There are four computers connected.. mine is Windows 7, I'm pretty sure 2 others are as well, and also a Macbook... There's also various stuff like an Ipad, Kindle etc., which all lose connection at the same time.
