Why Does Wireless Router Cut Off Communication For A While

View 1 RepliesAll of a sudden I started experiencing occasional loss of communication with my router. I tried updating the firmware to the latest (1.0.04) but am still experiencing the same thing.I don't lose internet access, I lose connection to the router itself. If I power cycle the router, the connection is re-established and I'm able to access the router and in turn the internet. I'm seeing this on both wired and wireless connections. Last night the Cisco logo actually turned off when I lost connection (this was a first). When I power cycled, connection was restored and the logo lit up again.

As you know a new Apple TV was released and along with it you now have the capability to send music and photos from iTunes on your laptop to your Apple TV which you can then play on your TV. These two components communicate through your wireless router. However this is not happening because (I believe) that the E3000 is blocking something (a port, some rouge firewall setting, etc.). I would be happy opening every frigging port this thing has and blocking all it's internal firewalls just to see if I can get these two devices working correctly. The software that allows this to all occur is called Airplay via your homeshare g network. Any success in getting your Apple TV and your iTunes and perhaps your iPhone to call communicate together or how the E3000 works.

Using Vista Home Premium I've got a D-Link Dir628 router equipped with a USB printer port. All is well when it is working. However, at irregular intervals, the router and the printer do not communicate. The only way I can restore communication is to toggle the power on the router, then all is well until the next time this happens.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have this motorola router, SURFBOARD SVG1202 and I can't connect to my university VPN. It says my router is blocking the communication. After some days trying to understand why, I saw that it was needed to enable some options at 192.168.0.1. So, I went there and enabled IPsec PassThrough and PPTP PassThrough under the router options and also added my MAC Addr. Then I restarted the router, However when I try to connect into it again (via DHCP, auto IP), it says "null/limited connection" ( I cant even try a vpn connection, Since it is null/limited, I have to choose static ip mode, inserting a IP/gateway/my service DNS under network options, then I can connect to internet again (see image), but router is still blocking the VPN access, hanging at "verifying account. And password." later gives error 619 related to router blocking

Cable from the socket into a dlink router (set to operate as a hub).My reason for this setup was due to the rubbish wireless signal from the virgin hub, and the fact that I have various other bits of kit downstairs that I could use an ethernet cable with. The question is, IF my laptops are connected to the router downstairs by an ethernet cable and I want to transfer some files between them, will the data be routed through the virgin media hub upstairs before coming back to the router that both laptops are connected to downstairs? I have just done a test with 30gb worth of files and the transfer speed was 8.7MB/second, is that good for wireless?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWe are trying to figure out how to configure this properly and so far we are stuck. We have a VMWare server with two different vmnics each on a different VLAN. We have each of these vmnics connected into their own switch port on a 3560G along with the appropriate VLAN membership for said ports. We have an additional port on this same switch in trunking mode connected to our firewall to a NIC that has an IP address in the respective VLAN networks. This port is also set for dot1q encapsulation. Each VLAN also has an IP set on the switch that is in the appropriate VLAN. We are having issues in this configuration getting the one VLAN to talk to another.
I know if we were in all Cisco mode then we would use ROAS to do this inter-vlan communication. How to make this happen short of changing hardware?
Wireless communication is dissabled. Please turn on the wireless communication switch. meanwhile it tells me my hardware radio is turned off

View 2 Replies View RelatedThis problem only seems to affect one of our sites. Every once in a while, several APs would lose link to the 5508 and get stranded. The only way to fix the issue is either to power cycle, or better yet SSH into the APs and use the command "capwap ap controller ip address x.x.x.x", and then they'd automatically rejoin the controller. At first, I thought network hiccups caused the APs to lose connectivity, but there's none that I could find. I have the primary/secondary controller IPs configured in them as well. See log below:

I am new to configuring WLC's. Our small business (5-15 wireless devices + 15ish wired) is trying to use a hand-me-down WLC and AP for our office wifi. We have a WLC 2106 directly connected to a 1231G-A-K9 via the WLC's port 8 POE. I am aware Cisco does not recommend this method, but we do not have a configurable switch at our disposal. We do not need separate VLAN's therefore I have left everything untagged. The AP has a static IP setup to allow communication to the WLC since it did not pull one from the WLC.
The AP is getting the correct network information and is showing up on the WLC monitoring page. I am able to connect to the new wireless network and able to ping between devices connected to the same AP. Now here is my question/issue. I cannot get communication from the WLC/AP to the rest of our network via an unconfigurable Netgear switch (FS605v3). After connecting an open switch port from the Netgear switch to port 4 on the WLC, I am lost. I tried giving port 4 on the WLC an address on the office network, but I receive an error stating "the IP information conflicts with another device".
Here is what I have setup on WLC
Virtual - 1.1.1.1
MNG IP-192.168.10.10
AP MNG Ip- 192.168.10.11
Subnet - /24

DHCP - 192.168.10.250
DNS - 192.168.10.250
Static Address on the AP's fa0-192.168.10.15
Attempted port 4 setup on WLC
VLAN identifier 0
IP- 192.168.10.25
Mask - /24
Gateway - 192.168.10.1
Port - 4
Our office network setup:
Subnet - /24
Gateway-192.168.10.1
DHCP - 192.168.10.250
DNS - 192.168.10.250
i have a client company that needs to extend their network. i am advising them to purchase the cisco aironet 1550. does the wireless AP support all the communication that is generated by SAP business one? View 1 Replies View Relatedmy question regards to a pair of WLC 4402 with 7.0.98.0 software.Actual, our security policy does not really allow any peer-to-peer communication in a wireless LAN. Therefore we set the 'P2P Blocking Action' to drop, and the 'Broadcast Forwarding' feature to disabled (default). But now there is a special requirement for two mobile endpoints to communicate with each other, because one device controls the other. To test the communication, we first disabled P2P Blocking (without success) and further enabled Broadcast Forwarding to bring the communication up. Now it works, but the configuration disagrees with our policy.
1. Is there an alternative configuration as described possible, so that we do not violate the security policy? To allow only p2p connection between the two devices, ist should also be possible to drop any else by an ACL. But how to fix the problem with the broadcast, because of the needed ARP? My idea was to use a static ARP entry, but as far as i know, one of the both devices is not able for it.
2. Because, I did not find any detailed documentation:
2a. with enabled Broadcast Forwarding, the controller forwards all broadcast for any configured SSID, right?
2b. is the broadcast limited to the source VLAN/SSID?
2c. is the broadcast limited to an AP, to an WLC, or is it broadcasted to every AP on every WLC that has the relevant SSID?
we already have two new 5508 but not in an operational state now, because we plan to implement new 3600 APs.Do these WLCs offer more/another circumstances or possibilities?
My company bought another company and moved them into our building. the company moved in but are on an entirely different network all together. wired separately, different domains.what i would like to do is be able to have them communicate with each other. have users on company A be able to use printers on company B's side of the network.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am working on a Cisco 5510 with multiple interfaces and requirements. I have experience with Cisco IOS, but not too much with the ASAs. I seem to be getting a bit confused on the NATing and ACLs on a firewall that was started by another employee, who is no longer here. With my current config I can get the firewall in place (we are currently using an older PIX) and most basic functions work except for two key things: 1) communication from the finance interface to the inside interface. The finance subnet has some restrictions that you will see in the ACL- we are trying to limit connections to the those systems, but they need to be able access an e-mail server on the inside. 2) communication from the DMZ interface to the inside interface. Maybe related to the first problem?

I make PC-1 a member of VLAN 2, PC-2 a member of VLAN 3, and SRV-1 a member of VLAN 4. The port that SRV-1 is on I make a tagged member of PC-1 and PC-2 (VLAN 2 and 3 respectively) and make the ports the PCs are on a member of the SRV-1 VLAN (VLAN 4).Everything tests OK (that is, the clients can't talk to each other, however the clients can individually talk to the server)

When I diagnose the problem, it tells me "Cannot communicate with Primary DNS Server (50.30.208.77)." If I leave it alone, it corrects itself after a couple of minutes, but I can also reset the local area connection and that will get things working again as well. This started a few days ago, and I was hoping it would just go away, but it has not. To reiterate, my connection is fine for about 20 minutes at a time, but then it will just drop out for seemingly no reason. I don't use wi-fi, I'm connected via an ethernet cable to an outlet on my wall. I've tried different cables and the problem persists, so I don't believe it has to do with a faulty cable. I didn't change anything about my hardware or software the day this problem sprung up. [code]
