He needs are to add a new wireless AP with the following features :
- compatible with most laptops
- exterior conditions "resistant" (sun, rain...)
- reasonnable performance (the AP would be a a roof with people on the roof itself, max distance : 15 meters, no walls)
I saw the WAP200E but I have no idea, if it is compatible with Cisco Wireless Control System
1 Virgin media home home up stairs in the home office. Ether cable running from the home hub, outside the house to the downstairs lounge with an ethernet socket on the end. Cable from the socket into a dlink router (set to operate as a hub).My reason for this setup was due to the rubbish wireless signal from the virgin hub, and the fact that I have various other bits of kit downstairs that I could use an ethernet cable with.The question is, IF my laptops are connected to the router downstairs by an ethernet cable and I want to transfer some files between them, will the data be routed through the virgin media hub upstairs before coming back to the router that both laptops are connected to downstairs? I have just done a test with 30gb worth of files and the transfer speed was 8.7MB/second, is that good for wireless?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am new to configuring WLC's. Our small business (5-15 wireless devices + 15ish wired) is trying to use a hand-me-down WLC and AP for our office wifi. We have a WLC 2106 directly connected to a 1231G-A-K9 via the WLC's port 8 POE. I am aware Cisco does not recommend this method, but we do not have a configurable switch at our disposal. We do not need separate VLAN's therefore I have left everything untagged. The AP has a static IP setup to allow communication to the WLC since it did not pull one from the WLC.
The AP is getting the correct network information and is showing up on the WLC monitoring page. I am able to connect to the new wireless network and able to ping between devices connected to the same AP. Now here is my question/issue. I cannot get communication from the WLC/AP to the rest of our network via an unconfigurable Netgear switch (FS605v3). After connecting an open switch port from the Netgear switch to port 4 on the WLC, I am lost. I tried giving port 4 on the WLC an address on the office network, but I receive an error stating "the IP information conflicts with another device".
Here is what I have setup on WLC
Virtual - 1.1.1.1
MNG IP-192.168.10.10
AP MNG Ip- 192.168.10.11
Subnet - /24
Gateway - 192.168.10.1
DHCP - 192.168.10.250

What do I need to do for access inside network to DMZ?
I successfully configure, internet Access for DZM and inside network, web server can be accessed from internet, but I have problem to configure communication from inside network to DMZ.
I want to control bandwidth of our computers in network. We are using TPLINK routers. I already done ipqos setting in the main router but it doesn't really effective. I also tried ipqos in the routers(which is used as WAP) but it also not effective.

All the systems can access one another except for one system which cannot access any other system although it can see the other systems in the workgroup. It can ping to all the systems.The error message is \computer is not accessible. You might not have permission to access this network resource. Contact the administrators of this server to find out if you have access permissions. Th server service is not started.But i checked that the service is running on all the systems.

I'm not an expert when it comes to the ASA's so I'm not 100% sure if I can do what I need to.I have 2 inside networks that need to remain separate, a DMZ network,and an outside network. Since each network connects via ethernet to one of the 4 ethernet ports on the ASA 5510's, all 4 ethernet ports on the ASA 5510 will be in use. If I wanted to setup one firewall as Active and the other as standby, how would I go about doing that? Do I need a direct ethernet connection between the 2 firewalls to use something such as HSRP? Or would the Standby firewall be able to tell if the Active firewall is OK since they would both be connected on each of their interfaces to the same networks?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been getting a popup error message for about a week:"There is an ip address conflict with aother system on the network". This is only for 2 desktop PCs with wired ethernet connections. Wireless devices are fine with no error message. The wired LAN PCs basically lose all network capability. Reboot fixed it, but it returned every time it was rebooted.I have a Virgin Media Superhub with another router configured as an access point. To cut a long story short, after trying to reset everything, re-installing network adapters & swapping ports, I decided to set the Superhub to Modem Mode, and re-configure the access point router to act as a standard wireless router. In other words renewing the whole network's LAN IP addresses.I now don't lose network capability, but the error message is still appearing on both wired LAN PCs. I use the Fing app on my android phone which lists IP addresses for all devices on the network, wired and wifi, and no 2 addresses are the same, which suggests that DNS is doing its job.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been digging into some performance issues on a LAN that has a couple of 2960s. The monitoring software I'm using has indicated a high amount of discarded outbound packets (up to 5%). The suggested resolutions were to enable flow control.
My question is does enabling flow control on all ports interrupt network traffic at all? this is a production network so I had already planned on doing it during off hours but also wanted to know if I should be prepared for any significant drop in traffic.

I am redoing my homes networking and I am looking for a firewall. I heard that you can install clear os on a server and use it as a firewall and a dhcp server. So i was going to install it on a rack in my server cabinet. does the server need to have a wan port and a lan port? Or how does the server get connected? So, so far its the cable modem into the clear os firewall and then into my switch. Is is possible to use the clear os server as the dhcp server for the whole house? From the switch I am going to connect the rest of my servers, and the rest of the house. I was going to connect two wireless routers for my house. Would that work with the clear os server?
