Cannot Access Any System On The Network
Mar 18, 2011
I have setup a network of 5 windows xp systems. All the systems can access one another except for one system which cannot access any other system although it can see the other systems in the workgroup. It can ping to all the systems.The error message is \computer is not accessible. You might not have permission to access this network resource. Contact the administrators of this server to find out if you have access permissions. Th server service is not started.But i checked that the service is running on all the systems.

A I went over to a friend's house to fix some problems with his computer. He has a Windows XP Home Edition desktop. I used System Restore to fix some kinks with it, and now the computer has no Internet access, and I have no idea how to get it back. I tried reversing the System Restore and turning it off, but that's not working. They said that the connection was fine, but that the computer could not read the modem.

I am trying to connect to my office PCs via VPN and/or RDP. The office uses Qwest DSL and has a dynamic IP address. I use DynDNS.org to keep the DNS updated with the WAN address of the router. However, any attempt to access the network fails. I have tried remote management access (I enabled it on the router) but that fails. I forwarded RDP ports on the router to one of the PCs but can't connect to it. I also set up a VPN server but cannot connect to it either. Something tells me that all requests to myoffice.homeip.net are not getting to my modem/router. I have even tried the IP associated with the name (Yes, I did check that it is correct!) but nothing works there either.

I'm having trouble accessing system files from my XP machine through my Windows 7 network. This is the error that I get: "Network Error Windows cannot access \xpusercwindows
You do not have permission to access \xpusercwindows. Contact your network administrator to request access."
I'm admin on both systems(home). Even after searching online, I still haven't come across a solution to my problem.

I need to extend the wireless range over what I have using an E2000. Can I use a WAP610N in repeater mode? If not can I use a WAP54G knowing that there will be a performance loss? Is there another option to add additional coverage to the existing wireless network?

In my log I have the message: "Access denied to wireless system with MAC address 0020008E971E". When I checked the vendor for this MAC, it shows Lexmark international inc, which fact make me feel something is wrong. My first thought was that somebody trying to break into my net but I am close to accept that the owner of Lexmark WiFi printer without an idea in networking, just tried to connect it to his network and after failing to do that, it's wired and wireless features are still on. But still could this be bug or something? I am posting some logs when I first discovered the problem and after I granted access to the device with the MAC address 0020008E971E. I forgot to tell you, that before I decided to post here I did firmware upgrade from Hardware version A3 1.10 to 1.35NA (I bought it from US) with factory default restore. The result was absolutely the same - the messages kept coming "Access denied to wireless system with MAC address 0020008E971E". So I granted access to that MAC and checked the logs again. There is a line in the log that stated "primary:"

This is happening to me to multiple computers on my domain. When it happens i can only log in as a local user or if I unplug the network cable, log in and then re-connect the networkThe time on all these machines is correct within at least 1 minute but still it's throwing off this error. When reading about this problem I see many fixes that all relate to how to sych the time on the PC.

I've been getting a popup error message for about a week:"There is an ip address conflict with aother system on the network". This is only for 2 desktop PCs with wired ethernet connections. Wireless devices are fine with no error message. The wired LAN PCs basically lose all network capability. Reboot fixed it, but it returned every time it was rebooted.I have a Virgin Media Superhub with another router configured as an access point. To cut a long story short, after trying to reset everything, re-installing network adapters & swapping ports, I decided to set the Superhub to Modem Mode, and re-configure the access point router to act as a standard wireless router. In other words renewing the whole network's LAN IP addresses.I now don't lose network capability, but the error message is still appearing on both wired LAN PCs. I use the Fing app on my android phone which lists IP addresses for all devices on the network, wired and wifi, and no 2 addresses are the same, which suggests that DNS is doing its job.

Just started using our ASA 5505 v8.2 (1) Trying to configure the ASA appliance to allow access into an internal resource (i.e want to be able to RDP into a system behind the ASA from the internet).I have used a static NAT:
static (inside,outside) 100.100.100.2 192.168.1.28 netmask 255.255.255.255
access-list OUTSIDE extended permit tcp any host 100.100.100.2 eq 3389
When I view the logs it is reporting the following:Inbound TCP connection denied from 206.100.100.1 (external IP) to 100.100.100.2 /3389 flags SYN on interface outside.Been pulling my hair out with this one as I believe I have everything configured correctly.

Alright, first off a little background. Im recent IT graduate (last spring) but not yet working in the field in any official capacitance. Its been about a year and half since I had my last Cisco class. Right now Im in the beginning process to work with locally own retailer setup a network infrastructure for IP camera and in the future VoIP, about 45 50 total IP devices when the project is complete.Nothing has been purchased yet but I have some candidates and a network layout planned, thought this is the first time Ie setup network of this type in the real world.Right now I looking at Netgear and LG/Ericsson (previously SMC, Nortel) switchesHavent gotten to the router yet and VoIP will come later.For either brand there would be one 1000MB 24 port switch and three 100MB switches, all of them 24 port and all will have PoE on all ports.[CODE]

I have full control over everything and I did setup the whole thing.We have a limited bandwidth internet plan, but a lot of bandwidth is easily used up by PC2.I want to limit the speed of internet access on that PC2 so that downloading becomes impossible or difficult.

I am redoing my homes networking and I am looking for a firewall. I heard that you can install clear os on a server and use it as a firewall and a dhcp server. So i was going to install it on a rack in my server cabinet. does the server need to have a wan port and a lan port? Or how does the server get connected? So, so far its the cable modem into the clear os firewall and then into my switch. Is is possible to use the clear os server as the dhcp server for the whole house? From the switch I am going to connect the rest of my servers, and the rest of the house. I was going to connect two wireless routers for my house. Would that work with the clear os server?
