Dell :: 3520 DHCP Client Not Starting With System Error 5 Access Denied Message
Feb 7, 2013I have Dell Inspiron 15 3520 laptop bought in December 2012 with Windows 8 Pro. It was working fine until two days ago. I am unable to obtain DHCP lease either through wireless or wired network. After troubleshooting, I found DHCP service is not running and try to restart but of no avail.I ran sfc /scannow and the results are OK.

I'm admin on both systems(home). Even after searching online, I still haven't come across a solution to my problem.
Cisco VPN :: ASA 5540 - Client On Windows 7 With No Remote Access
Feb 22, 2011Recently i have received one of my collegue's laptop that is running windows 7.I have installed cisco VPN client version 5.0.07.0290 on it and VPN client appears to connect to our ASA5540, but we are unable to connect (remote desktop) to any machines on our network as it does on our XP laptops. Furthermore, we cannot ping any as well. Also, while connected the Windows 7 machine is still able to access internet site as if split-tunneling was configured, which its not.
But after some searching , i found from "routeprint" output (shown below ) that my local internet gateway is prefered over the VPN gateway which is 10.10.4.1.Here 10.10.4.19 is the IP address assigned for VPN adaptor.

But after i manually add the below route on windows 7 laptop , it started connecting to remote desktop successfully.
route change 0.0.0.0 mask 0.0.0.0 10.10.4.1 metric 20
But aftersome time of idle state , it is again going back to original route state of prefering the local gateway of 192.168.1.2 and thus unable to connect to Remote Desktop again.
XP Windows Not Taking To New Wireless System
Feb 14, 2013My old Actiontec M1000 modem recently died and my HP nc6120 with windows XP can not connect to the wireless network through the new Actiontec C1000A model.It connected wirelessly through the old M1000 moden. Window icons on the screen indicate no wireless network is detected. When I view the available networks and log in to the assigned network with its password, it looks like it is trying to connect but does not. It will connect through the ethernet link-up. I don't have any other wireless devices to connect to the network. I have updated the drivers for the wireless card through HP. I have taken the HP nc6120 to the Geek Squad and the wireless card connects with their network. I seem to have a compatibility problem with the old HP with its XP windows operating software and the new modem system. I have tried to reset the ip addresses, but this has had no effect. However, I do have purchased AVG protection software operating on the system, which I am not sure how to shut off. Is this a problem with a too advanced modem for an old style HP with an XP operating system? Is there a modem that I can downgrade to if it is? [code]

I have a Motorola modem and modem is connected to the Netgear router. When I turn my desktop PC on which is connected to the router it shows the local connection is connected, but the Bridge Network cable is unplugged I have no idea what that is and if I need it to be connected to the internet. I called the Comcast service and the lady assistant did not even know what the Bridge cable is and I do not know ether since. May 26, 2013I am about to re-install Windows ME on an old Dell Dimension 4300. The computer is connected to the internet via a 2Wire 3600HGV DSL modem/router.
Do I need a software firewall? Or is the router sufficient? Is antivirus software necessary if I don't download anything? It will be part of a local LAN, so I don't want to jeopardize any of the other PCs on the home network.
NOTE: I'm looking to run some older (non-DOS) computer games that don't run well (or at all) on XP and newer systems.
NOTE 2: When I say 'secure', I'm not looking to actively browse the web on the machine. I was curious as to what risks I be facing if I simply had this PC connected to my local network (and thus the internet).

All the systems can access one another except for one system which cannot access any other system although it can see the other systems in the workgroup. It can ping to all the systems.The error message is \computer is not accessible. You might not have permission to access this network resource. Contact the administrators of this server to find out if you have access permissions. Th server service is not started.But i checked that the service is running on all the systems.

Aug 19, 2011I am trying to connect to my office PCs via VPN and/or RDP. The office uses Qwest DSL and has a dynamic IP address. I use DynDNS.org to keep the DNS updated with the WAN address of the router. However, any attempt to access the network fails. I have tried remote management access (I enabled it on the router) but that fails. I forwarded RDP ports on the router to one of the PCs but can't connect to it. I also set up a VPN server but cannot connect to it either. Something tells me that all requests to myoffice.homeip.net are not getting to my modem/router. I have even tried the IP associated with the name (Yes, I did check that it is correct!) but nothing works there either.

Jul 20, 2011I installed on 2 different PCs (Win7 64-bit) the Cisco VPN Client 5.0.07 with the same VPN profile for 2 different users. We use an ASA5505 (8.0(5) sec plus license) as the VPN end point for the clients. The VPN Clients can connect simultaneously to the ASA, they receive the split tunnel infos but only ONE client can ping the internal network ip range. The other one has no access to the internal resources! When they separately try to connect, there is no problem. Each of them can reach the internal net.On other 2 PCs (Win 7 32-bit) the clients have no problem reaching the internal net (simultaneously connect).
