Setting Up Encryption On A Trendnet TEW-652BRP Router?
Feb 4, 2011
I have just made a new home network with a Trendnet TEW-652BRP N router.I am trying to set up my encryption but I am confused on it. Under Security "Authencation Type" there is WEP, WPA, WPA-2, WPA-AUTO. What are these settings for and which do I choose for a home wireless net work?
I recently set up my netgear wireless gateway (cgd24g).I am able to connect to the internet with it through an ethernet cable, but have so far been unable to connect wirelessly.I've tried changing my SSID in the gateway's settings and applying WPA encryption, but when I search for my wifi network, I just see the default SSID.
I have just set up a wireless trendnet router. Everything is set up normal and its working correctly, it correctly assigns internal IPs to wireless devices. The problem is though that for some reason we all get disconnected in games for instance and some games more than others. Rift disconnects every 30 seconds to 1 minute, World of Warcraft disconnects often, Live Messenger disconnects as well, Age of Empires Online can sometimes work fine for hours, then sometimes disconnect every now and then. Steam doesn't disconnect. Its more or less the same on any of our laptops. (all running Windows 7 64 Bit Home Premium or Professional)
My internet connection setup is: PC -> Trendnet 632 BRP wi-fi router (via Ethernet cable) - > D-Link DSL-2520U modem (via Ethernet cable, PPPoE) -> Internet. I have other devices connected to my Trendnet router via Wi-Fi connection (Notebook, PS3, XBOX, iPhone). My ISP gave me two DNS servers wich I have entered in my Trendnet. But when I look at the DNS tab in my D-Link I see two different DNS servers witch is not the same I entered in Trendnet.hey was set automatically when I created new DSL connection. I've also tried to leave the DNS adress tab as it was by default (0.0.0.0) in Trendnet router and after that my network still works normal. And when I look at the WAN status tab in Trendnet settings the DNS servers is set automatically to 192.168.1.1.So I have 3 questions for you:1) Do I really need to enter those DNS servers that my ISP gave me or I can just leave it to DHCP to manage them?2) If I have entered ISP's DNS servers in Trendnet then witch DNS servers is actually I'm using the ones my ISP gave me or the ones that my D-Link have picked automatically?
I have a new TEW-692GR router attached to an UBEE DVM3203B cable modem. For the last several days the WAN light on the router and the LINK light on the cable modem flash on a continual basis. This seemed to happen after establishing a wireless connection between a new LG smart tv and the router but am not sure if that in fact caused the issue. I have power cycled all devices on my network in an attempt to clear this up but no joy.
I have set up a wireless home network using ADSL with the following components: TrendNet TEW- 432 BRP Wireless Router Gateway Desktop with Windows 7 OS, iMac desktop with Leopard 10.5.7 OS Compaq Presario Notebook with Vista Home Premium OS Service Pack 2 I am able to connect to the network with all 3 but I have a problem with the Notebook. It is very slow to connect and sometimes takes 15 minutes or more to find the network. Once it is connected it works fine and doesnt disconnect, but if I have to reboot for any reason the same problem occurs. It does not appear to be a problem with the placement of the router and the signal strength which is "very good" to "excellent". I say "slow to connect (again)" because this had occurred before and I returned the laptop under warranty. HP replaced the wireless network card and it worked fine, but the problem has come back over a year later. I suspect that the card is not at fault and that the problem is elsewhere but I am at a loss as to what it might be.
my acer laptop can detect my neighbour's wifi but cant detect my wifi which i connected today , my router is trendnet , it works perfectly in PC and my Phone can also connect to its wifi , but my laptop wont even detect the wireless network
I am trying to allow an external website access to my http://localhost:8080. It is a trusted website.
I have a ZyXel Q1000 modem and a Trendnet TEW-452BRP router. The TRENDnet is serving a PS3, Xbox, Wii, and 2 iMacs and the ZyXel is serving the TRENDnet.
My public IP for the ZyXel is 65.xxx.xx.152 and it's IP address is 192.168.0.1 with a range of 192.168.0.2-254 My TRENDnet IP is 192.168.1.1 and a range of 192.168.1.100-199
I have setup a Virtual Server on the TRENDnet using HTTP, Protocol TCP 80/80 and LAN Server 198.168.1.109 (my iMac localhost). I have also setup Application forwarding and Port forwarding on both the modem and router (at different times, trying to resolve this).
Naturally none of those worked. I don't know if I need a Port forwarded or Application forwarding or the Virtual Server. Also don't know if either of those need to be on one or both devices.
All I do know is to access my localhost from the Internet, all I need to do is put http://65.xxx.xx.152 in the address bar of a browser outside my network, and my modem/and or router should forward the request to my iMac and my localhost:8080. But every configuration I have tried does nothing of the sort.
Trying to connect my Dell Dimension E310 to my Linksys WRT54GS with a TRENDnet wireless N USB adapter. It sees the router, it connects, I show strong signal strength, but get a "limited connection or no connection" error back from the router...can't get on the Internet. If I use an Ethernet wire and connect it to the router, it can set up a wireless connection with the machine, I can unhook the hardwire, and I'm good to go. But every time I reboot, it won't connect unless I set it up with the hardwire first. Impractical. All other devices attached to the router are fine and connected to the Internet. How can I get the router to maintain the settings for this new connection so it will connect wirelessly when I reboot?
i have a trendnet tpe-s44 switch and i need to reset it. it is installed in a network with a pos system, and i need to change the security from wep to wpa-2. i also cannot use the web interface to get to the login screen. from what i gather, it should be admin admin at 192.168.0.1, but the network it came from had a 192.168.5 scheme. i also cannot find a reset button, i even took it apart to look for jumpers. that sucks, i can configure a cisco from the command line almost in my sleep
I'm having a very difficult time getting my WRT54GS to work with my Westell 6100 modem. I've been bouncing around gathering info, and what I've learned is that the goofy way CenturyLink tech support told me to hook up my old wired router (modem line into outgoing (LAN) router port) is because the Westell 6100 is a "smart modem/router". Therefore, when I run the Linksys setup CD, it sees the modem as a router, and won't properly configure. I've also learned that the Westell modem can be "dumbed down" into simply a modem by putting it into "bridge mode", which is where I'm at right now - trying to get it reset to factory defaults and resetting the connection type from PPPoE to Bridge. In the meantime, I also reset the WRT54GS to factory defaults, and now I've got another problem: the router will not allow me to set up encryption. The default setting is "Disabled", and when I click the down arrow and try to make any selection at all (preferred selection is WPA2 Personal), it reverts to Disabled. I've also tried to change the router's IP address to 192.168.2.1 (and alternately to 192.168.1.253), so it won't conflict with the modem's IP, and it freezes up every time I try.
I was wondering what is the router performance decrease when using encryption?
For instance the CISCO2911 has 180.73Mbps half duplex switching performance, what would be more or less the decrease in performance if I use encryption?
I bought Trendnet TEW643 PI wireless adaptor. I installed the software and inserted the adaptor to the slot as per the instructions. When I try configuring through wireless N client utility/ site survey, I cannot see any SSID.. I did try un--installing and re-installing and also driver update. but still of no use. I am not too much expert, but now I need to access the desktop in my office room. Item bought-Trendnet TEW-643 PI Windows Vista-64. Fibre broad band.
Factory default settings of my WRT54GS encryption are Disabled. When I try to enable WPA Personal encryption (>Wireless, Wireless Security), it reverts back to Disabled as soon as I make the selection. >Administration, >Wireless, >Encryption Function is Disabled. When I had this router set up at another location with another ISP, this was never an issue. How do I get the encryption function to be enabled?
Need to configure a TEG-S2620is switch (Trendnet) with VLANs I need to set TWO VLANs and make them communicate with eachother via the 802.1Q protocol. These are the details:
VLAN ID 102 Port 20 (802.1Q) Port 21 VLAN ID 144 Port 20 (802.1Q) Port 22 Port 23 Port 24
I have a trendnet TEW-P1UG when I connect to it by wireless and I am able to click the test printer on the ip page, but I cant just print things?am I meant to link to the print server from my router? or from my pc that I wish to print from?
How to configure a TrendNet TEW-692GR to block/limit Facebook and other websites on one or all computers that access the wireless router. We homeschool and the boys are having trouble dealing with the distraction of social media while using their computers to get school work done.
I've tried listing FB IP address ranges (the 66s, 69s and the 204s) in Access Control and under IP Range Block Rules, and using the schedule page to set an access schedule. Everything looks reasonable but we can all still access FB. What am I missing? I think I found all the IPs for FB, maybe not? Not truly clear if the schedule is for times to block or times to access.
My router is running the stock 1.21 firmware and it has been fine for almost a year before the wireless suddenly stopped working. I reset the router and restored my previous configuration. After the reboot, the SSID is visible and I can connect to it but there is no internet connection. Also the router becomes unresponsive, i.e. timeout trying to access the router configuration page. After trying out different settings it seems that enabling WPA2+AES is the cause. In the mean time, I am running an open wireless network and everything seems fine. Is the hardware faulty? I am reluctant to update the firmware because of a negative experience with another router (same model).
Im using an old tower with XP SP3. Most if not all drivers are up to date.I recently have come home from college where the computer connected to the internet through a cable and i now have to use wireless.I went out and bought a Trendnet TEW-648UB Wireless n adapter, installed it and tried to connect to my home network. It has been going from acquiring network address to no connection every ten seconds then repeating. I am fairly sure that this is not the router because i am on my sisters desktop which is a wireless connection and im on the internet. so far i have:
checked to make sure that WZC is enabled, it is.
tried checking and unchecking the Use Windows to to configure my wireless network settings
enabling and disabling my adapter
reinstalling my adapter
repairing connection
disabling any and all firewalls
ipconfig /release
ipoconfig /renew
netsh int ip reset reset.log
netsh winsock reset catalog
lots of computer restarting
and for good measure i pinged 192.168.4.1 and ping 24.229.54.212 not sure why but kinda frustrated so why not
here's the cmd stuff:

While I have been VERY happy using my DIR-655 for the most part, all wireless routers have limitations for expansion across your home.I got my TrendNet TEW-640MB installed last night, and it talks to the 655 perfectly, and now I have 4 ethernet ports at distance across my house. I have also used a couple TrendNet TEW647Ga single port wireless bridge for other parts of my home, but with only a single Ethernet port, you still need a little switch/hub to get the extra ports.
Because these units speak .11N at 300 Mbps, it takes full advantage of the technology the 655 gave me when I bought it back in 2009 (??).
I've installed a Trendnet TEW-694UB wireless adaptor on my laptop and am trying to connect to my home network. I get a message "Acquiring network address" but it never connects.
I cannot install the drivers for my TrendNet TEW-423PI network interface card. I am running Windows 7 64-bit with an Intel i7 2700k and an Asus motherboard. I have tried installing with the card already in the computer - no luck. Card out of the computer install and then shut off and put in - no luck. The instructions that come with the card say that after you install the program that instantly runs from the CD provided you should shut off the computer and install the card and when you turn the computer back on the drivers will install automatically. It has failed to do so and although I pulled all possible drivers from TrendNet's site it still stubbornly refuses to even recognize that there are drivers for it to install.
I am in a situation where I share internet access with roommates. We have a Gateway which is conected to the provider and which delivers ethernet and WiFi signal.
In order to isolate myself from my roomates and to protect my network connection, both wired and WiFi, I would like to plug in the Ethernet cable I get from the Gateway to my router, and then configure my router's firewall and WiFi enctryption to maximize my safety.
However, I am having some problems. I have already configured the router as "router" and not "Gateway" and I am trying to assign it an IP address different from the default one, which is the one the gateway has, and a ranger of DHCP IP's, also different from those of the Gateway. In other words, 192.1681.N.1 for the router and start from there.
