D-Link DIR-655 :: Installed New TrendNet TEW-640MB Wireless Bridge
Aug 17, 2011
While I have been VERY happy using my DIR-655 for the most part, all wireless routers have limitations for expansion across your home.I got my TrendNet TEW-640MB installed last night, and it talks to the 655 perfectly, and now I have 4 ethernet ports at distance across my house. I have also used a couple TrendNet TEW647Ga single port wireless bridge for other parts of my home, but with only a single Ethernet port, you still need a little switch/hub to get the extra ports.
Because these units speak .11N at 300 Mbps, it takes full advantage of the technology the 655 gave me when I bought it back in 2009 (??).

We currently use the DIR 655 in our home. I has a great range, and we've never had any problems. Our house is a very tall Victorian, so some areas don't get as strong a signal as others. I'd like to set up a few addition devices to extend the coverage of our network.
I installed a DAP 1522 as a bridge to our entertainment PC. After a while of trying to sort out how to configure it everything is working there. The 1522 is connected to the PC via cable.
I still want to extend the overall wireless range to better cover the lower floors and back porch.
From reading the manual on the 1522 I am a bit confused. I understand how it works as a bridge, connecting devices via cable. Will it also extend the range is set as an Access Point without needing the devices to connect via cable?

I am trying to configure a newly installed HWIC-4ESW on a 2811 router to bridge to the FE 0/0 interface. Currently, I have a cheap switch connected to FE 0/0 which in turn connects to all the phones, however now I just want to connect all the phones to the HWIC and have it internally bridge to FE0/0 for the connectivity to CME, etc.

I have just set up a wireless trendnet router. Everything is set up normal and its working correctly, it correctly assigns internal IPs to wireless devices. The problem is though that for some reason we all get disconnected in games for instance and some games more than others. Rift disconnects every 30 seconds to 1 minute, World of Warcraft disconnects often, Live Messenger disconnects as well, Age of Empires Online can sometimes work fine for hours, then sometimes disconnect every now and then. Steam doesn't disconnect. Its more or less the same on any of our laptops. (all running Windows 7 64 Bit Home Premium or Professional)

Several months ago I installed D-Link's DIR 655 on my W7 x64 PC. Everything worked fine including NetFlix and being able to view photos located on my PC on my Sony TV. The TV is connected via wired Ethernet cable from the D-Link and I use my cable service signal from the router to the TV.
Then I had to reinstall my OS and although I can still view all the cable companies offerings, including NetFlix on the TV, I'm no longer able to see or view images located on my PC on the TV. I didn't change any of the wiring.
I tried reinstalling the D-Link CD but I can't find where it installs on my PC. It's not listed in the Device Manager or in Programs. I'm wanting to know what version of the D-Link driver I have and to be able to view photos and videos on my TV that are located in shared folders on my PC. I'm the only one who uses the PC.

I have set up a wireless home network using ADSL with the following components: TrendNet TEW- 432 BRP Wireless Router Gateway Desktop with Windows 7 OS, iMac desktop with Leopard 10.5.7 OS Compaq Presario Notebook with Vista Home Premium OS Service Pack 2 I am able to connect to the network with all 3 but I have a problem with the Notebook. It is very slow to connect and sometimes takes 15 minutes or more to find the network. Once it is connected it works fine and doesnt disconnect, but if I have to reboot for any reason the same problem occurs. It does not appear to be a problem with the placement of the router and the signal strength which is "very good" to "excellent". I say "slow to connect (again)" because this had occurred before and I returned the laptop under warranty. HP replaced the wireless network card and it worked fine, but the problem has come back over a year later. I suspect that the card is not at fault and that the problem is elsewhere but I am at a loss as to what it might be.

Im using an old tower with XP SP3. Most if not all drivers are up to date.I recently have come home from college where the computer connected to the internet through a cable and i now have to use wireless.I went out and bought a Trendnet TEW-648UB Wireless n adapter, installed it and tried to connect to my home network. It has been going from acquiring network address to no connection every ten seconds then repeating. I am fairly sure that this is not the router because i am on my sisters desktop which is a wireless connection and im on the internet. so far i have:
checked to make sure that WZC is enabled, it is.
tried checking and unchecking the Use Windows to to configure my wireless network settings
enabling and disabling my adapter
reinstalling my adapter
repairing connection
disabling any and all firewalls
ipconfig /release
ipoconfig /renew
netsh int ip reset reset.log
netsh winsock reset catalog
lots of computer restarting
and for good measure i pinged 192.168.4.1 and ping 24.229.54.212 not sure why but kinda frustrated so why not
here's the cmd stuff:

my wireless router that is connected to the internet is in the basement and my computer is upstairs on the second floor of my house. Because of this the signal is very bad, to fix this problem I bought a Belkin Wireless N300 in order to create a wireless bridge but I am having trouble. My downstairs router is a D-Link DI-524 and I have googled all over the place to find a solution but the belkin router doesn't have a wireless bridging option...

I just installed a fresh copy of XP on an old Dell E310 my wife and kids use. Just an FYI, I used D-link prior to the re-install with no issues for a few years. Anyway, after XP was up, I put the D-link drivers on. The internet came up and worked like normal for 5-10 minutes, then 'poof', gone. Each time I attempted to connect after that I got a warning message stating I do not have network adapters? I was under the impression that is what D-link was?

To fix a bunch of other problems I've installed the 313NA firmware on my rev. C2 DIR-615
I can connect to my ISP and DHCP just fine, and I get DNS servers back just fine, but the DIR 615 doesn't serve DNS correctly for the devices on the LAN. If I set the LAN machines' DNS manually to the IP addresses provided by my ISP they can look up hosts just fine. With them pointing at the DIR 615 for DNS they get nothing.
When I attempt to perform a name lookup using the admin System Check -> Ping Test I get "Unknown Host". The same name lookup up by any other LAN machine using the same DNS hosts gets the correct result. I've made sure there's no caching.

Just purchased the WR940N to use as a wireless bridge. I expected to be able to have the router join my wireless network, and provide Ethernet connectivity to 4 devices behind it. But I'm missing something in the configuration. I can get it on the wireless network, and manage it via the wireless network. But devices plugged into the Ethernet cannot get out to the Internet. Basically, I have a 192.168.1.x network, and the router is node 192.168.1.3 on the wireless network. I've turned off the firewall and DHCP on the router. The Ethernet devices behind it get an address from my network, but the router inserts its own address in as the default gateway, and my Ethernet devices do not have a route to my 192.168.1.x network, despite having an address on it.

Iv got an "old" dir 655 laying around as my secondary router and found out it had an USB slot for share port.In another room of the house Iv got a media center and an Usb printer. Can I use this dir 655 as a wireless bridge from my main router, so the media center and the printer can be connected? So both low level streaming and shared printer with share port.Or do you need to be connected directly to the dir 655 to use the usb and share port?

Is/can SharePort be dragging down the router? I turned off the external HD and it's still slow.

Trying to connect my Dell Dimension E310 to my Linksys WRT54GS with a TRENDnet wireless N USB adapter. It sees the router, it connects, I show strong signal strength, but get a "limited connection or no connection" error back from the router...can't get on the Internet. If I use an Ethernet wire and connect it to the router, it can set up a wireless connection with the machine, I can unhook the hardwire, and I'm good to go. But every time I reboot, it won't connect unless I set it up with the hardwire first. Impractical. All other devices attached to the router are fine and connected to the Internet. How can I get the router to maintain the settings for this new connection so it will connect wirelessly when I reboot?

I'm running the 1522 as a bridge with v1.21 firmware. I have 2 devices wired to it. I have Wireless MAC cloning disabled (not checked). If I scan my network using a tool such as ipscanner (http:url.....) the devices attached to the bridge are being listed with the 1522's MAC address - not their own.
The connected devices should be showing up with their own MAC addresses. The 1522's address should only be displayed IF MAC cloning is enabled and IF the cloning mode is set to Auto - is my understanding of this feature incorrect or is my 1522 not performing as spec'd?

I recently bought the N750 wireless dual band router and I would like to setup a bridge with another router that I'm currently using.
I have followed the instructions in the documentation [URL]. But I've had 0 success in getting this to work.
How to get this feature to work?
Additional info:
I followed each step to the letter. In the last step when my router reboots I noticed that the System light doesn't flash. Which indicates that there is a system error (according to the user manual). But I'm unable to determine what the system error is because I can no longer log into my router's Administration page anymore.
in the instructions (link above) it says to disable DHCP, so I manually assign an IP address to my computer setting the gateway IP address to the IP address I manually assigned to my router. I can see that a connection to the router is established, but I'm unable connect to the internet and when I type in the IP address of my router I'm unable to get into the administration menu.
I checked the wireless connections on my source router and I don't see the IP address of the N750 router.

I am trying to install a AIR-BR1310G wireless link between two buildings. I configured the setup in a lab and had everything functioning. Shipped it to the client who is now trying to install it. The radio link is up, but we are having issues with the remote Ethernet connection. The root bridge is connected to a WS-C3560G-24TS (core) switch. The port is setup as a trunk with a native vlan of 2 (our management vlan). [code] if I do a "show power-injector" on the remote radio (no Ethernet link), I get: "Received zero AutoMIB packet from Power Injector, Check to see if CDP is disabled on Fast ethernet" repeating. No other entries. If I do the same command on a unit with a link (root bridge) I get information about "Power Injector Port 0 speed 100Mb/s duplex full link up enabled yes" with a bunch of stats. Similar for "Power Injector Port 1". Power Injector Ports 2-4 as "down" and 5-6 as "disabled". Other than the 3 different patch cables they tried (all straight through) or a crossed cable (try tomorrow when they buy one), is there any other reason the port won't go Up/Up?

I have a brand new DAP-1522 A1 connected to an 802.11n wireless LAN in bridge mode. Running in the 2.4GHz band with WPK-2 and AES security/encryption.Everything runs fine 99% of the time, but once a day or so the wireless LAN connection on the DAP-1522 drops and then takes about two minutes to re-connect. It re-connects and then everything is fine for a day or so until the next dropped wireless connection episode on the DAP-1522. I know my 802.11n wireless network is 100% fine as during the dropped connection to the DAP-1522 I can connect directly to the 802.11n wireless network (running from my gateway/router) using my other computer, no issues.I've seen some posts on this forum that the A1 version of the DAP-1522 hardware is not 100% compatible with the 802.11n network standard and there will be intermittent wireless drops. If this is true, it's just insane. All I can say is I can't believe DLink would allow a product to be sold that won't work properly on 802.11n networks.I check the logs each time I see the dropped wireless connection and all that shows is the following.1) Negotiating connection 2) 4-way handshake success [mac address]There's no message in the logs about why the wireless connection dropped, but I assume it has something to do with re-newing a key for the wireless network as the successful key renewal messages are the only other messages in the log. When the wireless network dropped I don't see the successful key renewal message at the time I should see it.I thought this DAP-1522 would take 15 minutes to configure in bridge mode and then I'd forget about it. Spend too much time on this already, so a bit disappointed with this DAP-1522 and DLink tech support....though when it's connected to the 802.11n wireless LAN it works fine.

IPs are set as per of same family as that of primary TP-Link, and further, DHCP been de-activated as well. Have sent WEP security as well.It performs correctly for the time, its stays ON, but when its switched Off, and then On again, it is not able to connect to the primary TP-Link and thus not able to serve its client PCs.

I have an old D-Link DIR-615 wireless N router that I am trying to re-purpose as a wireless bridge so I have network access in the back part of the house where I can't run ethernet wires.
I successfully installed installed DD-WRT on the D-Link and thought I had configured the D-Link into a wireless bridge; however, the D-Link just does not want to communicate with my primary Zoom Cable Modem / Wireless Router. Pings between the two devices return nothing. I disabled all security, they are on the same subnet (192.168.0.1 and 192.168.0.6 for the D-Link), same SSID, etc.
I attached a word doc with screen shots of the settings on both devices.
