How is it possible to configure 2 VLANs to communicate with each other on the same switch? I have managed to create 2 VLANS and they both work (and can access the internet), but they can't communicate with each other.VLAN1 has an IP range starting 10.4.160 and VLAN2 has an IP range starting 10.6.192.Is it VLAN routing that I'm looking for? View 1 Replies View Relatedi have a trendnet tpe-s44 switch and i need to reset it. it is installed in a network with a pos system, and i need to change the security from wep to wpa-2. i also cannot use the web interface to get to the login screen. from what i gather, it should be admin admin at 192.168.0.1, but the network it came from had a 192.168.5 scheme. i also cannot find a reset button, i even took it apart to look for jumpers. that sucks, i can configure a cisco from the command line almost in my sleep

I have a LinkSys WRT54G2 connected to port 1. I would like ports 2-8 to be in one VLAN with access to the Internet and to be able to share their printers, hard drives, etc. with other computers on ports 2-8. I would like each of ports 9-16 to be on a separate VLAN with access only to the Internet and no other ports on the switch. I would like to be able to manage the switch from any of the ports 2-8.
After I create the VLAN 1009 (see screenshot below), port 9 can browse the Internet and cannot see the other ports on the switch which is correct. However, ports 2-8 can no longer access the switch at 192.168.1.20 in order to manage the switch.
I am a novice at setting up Cisco routers, I have a few years of networking form the server side of things just beginning to work on the switch side. I am trying to configure a sg200-8 to have three VLANs.

I saw a post in [URL] that was close to what I need to do. But this site seems a better place to ask a question. We need to install a second switch (SF300-24P) to an existing network with an SF300 48P and an ASA5500 for gateway/firewall etc. the network on the 48p switch is 192.168.1.xx. We want to use the new switch for ip cameras and 192.168.2.xx.
I will assume I need to set up a vlan on the 24 port switch for the 192.168.2.xx ip range, i will call this vlan20. I will guess that I need to pick a port from the 48p switch and create vlan20 on the 48p switch to access the 24p switch. I want users on the 192.168.1.xx network to be able to access cameras on the 192.168.2.xx network. Do I need to add a line in the asa config file for the new switch?
is it possible with LMS 4.0 and VLAN Port Assignment also to configure auxiliary vlans?

All ports were listed, port Fa0/1 has only a native vlan, the ports Fa0/2 - 8 have native and voice vlans (auxiliary) configured manually.
So when I want to configure the voice vlan for Fa0/1 the voice vlan is set as the native one.
Is it only possible to configure the native vlans with the VLAN Port Assignment of LMS 4.0 ?
make a couple of SF300 switches to work properly with a C2960S-48TS-L that acts as core switch/basic router. I can't seem to figure out how to assign VLANs correctly in trunk and access mode on the SF300. The 2960S are a no brainer with IOS commands but the webgui in the SF300 is a pain.
I've configured the 2960S with 3 VLANs and I would like to have the SF300 switches connect to the C2960S-48TS-L through VLAN trunk and then configure the ports on the SF300 switches to belong to the assigned VLANs of my choosing. I would also like to have all the SF300 switches management interface in VLAN 50.
I've partially described the enviroment below.

I am facing problem in configuration with SF-200-24P Switch . I have problem with IPV6 connectivity, i have two Cisco 3550 switch and they are connected over a trunk link. The ios is c3550- ipservicesk9-mz. 122- 44.SE6 , I have configured vlans on both switches and i numbered one vlan to vlan 91 ,they can ping each other when i configure ipv4 on both vlans so trunk link is functional, but when i m using IPV6 they can't ping each other!! they can only ping their own ip address not each other. The purpose is that users in vlan 1 should get an IP address from DHCP server1, and users in vlan 2 should get an IP address from DHCP server2. I want the devices connected to the 3 vlans to be able to pass through the firewall and get out to the internet.I have connected the ASA to the 3750 by routed interfaces (10.10.10.1) --------- (10.10.10.2) and they are able to ping each other.I have also put a default route on the 3750 sending all traffic from the switch to the ASA inside interface (10.10.10.1)The issue that i am having is that the ASA also connects to a 2960 which has a connection to the Internet, and they are handing off an ethernet connection from the 2960 that sits in VLAN 55 (Vlan 55 is the Internet accessible vlan).How do I configure my ASA to send all traffic from my (3) vlans to the interfaces that connects to the 2960 switch?

How to configure traffic flow between computers inside VLANs and a routed port? Here is the setup details:
1. Switch 3750-X
2. VLAN 100 - ( SVI IP address 192.168.100.1 /24)
3. VLAN 200 - ( SVI IP address 192.168.200.1 /24)
4. routed port gi1/0/48 (IP address 192.168.150.1 /24). Note: this port is directly connected to a firewall ASA 5520 port IP 192.168.150.100 /24
Ip routing is enabled on the switch and inter vlan traffic is flowing ok. I can ping the routed port gi1/0/48 from any computer connected in the VLAN 100 or 200. For example computer with IP 192.168.100.25 can ping the routed port 192.168.150.1. Switch can ping firewall port 192.168.150.100 and the 'sh ip route' command shows the network 192.168.150.0 /24 as directly connected network.
any computer in the two VLANs CANNOT ping firewall ASA port 192.168.150.100 Is it because inter VLAN routing does not work with a routed port on L3 switch? I looked up fallback bridging, but it is meant for non IP traffic.The goal is I am trying to set the ASA port as an internet gateway for VLANs.

I've got brand new 3945's with onboard 16-port 3560e switches. On the first power up I see that there are several new vlans added that appear to be default vlans..

I deleted the vlan.dat and reloaded the switch but these vlans come back. What these vlans are intended for and is there a better way to get rid of them? What does "fst" stand for?
A CISCO 3750-X stack with several VLANs and many ACLs applied to the virtual interfaces. Intervlan routing is on. Connected to this stack are VMware hosts and with about 500 VMs.We started using the ACLs to allow connectivity between VLANs to specific hosts and it has grown to thousands of lines. I personally do not think this is good for the switch and believe the switch was not intended to be used for that security feature.
- Does it make it sense to add an "internal firewall" between the CORE ROUTER AND THE 3750-X SWITCH STACK ?
- Do you recommend any other way?
- Any recommended CISCO resource/white paper to read about best practice

I am using a catalyst 2970 switch for 2 vlans. Corporate data and a separate VLAN for backups. What I want to do is create an LACP etherchannel to the switch and also trunk these ports so the server is part of both VLANS.Due to fact that some of these servers are on totally separated networks, they really shouldn't be able to talk to the backup server. Creating the VLAN for backups works to achieve this. I plan to create inbound ACLs on each port to allow only the ports and IPs for the backup network and allow everything we need for corporate data.I read somewhere that you can't have ACLs on an etherchannel and I just want to get it all straightened out. I notice I can't add an access group to the port-channel itself but I can on the port- channel member ports. Is this all I need to do or does this not work?

Each PC is on different vlan
PC -1 on vlan 100
PC-2 on vlan 200
I need to connect PC-1 and PC-2 to the server. Server has no fixed vlan and can be changed.
Restrictions:
1) can’t change PCs vlan assignment.
2) can’t add 2nd NIC in the server.
I’ve tried private vlan but it requires separate physical ports for host and/or community vlan and somehow it did not work. I could be wrong Trunking using dot1q enabled on port 2 on all switches and connection works fine (server to PC-1 or server to PC-2) by enabling switchport access vlan 100 or switchport access vlan 200. However I need port 5 on switch-1 to respond to vlan 100 and 200.
Created 2 separate VLANs on SGE2010P switch. Neither in Native VLAN 1.
For example;
-Port g01 in VLAN 56
-Port g25 in VLAN 56
-Port g10 in VLAN 10
-Port g37 in VLAN 10
All appears to work well within the respective VLAN (i.e. DHCP, ARP, etc. no IPs from other VLANs)STP - Spanning Tree is Globally disabled.
However; when I feed a n new network (which has STP enabled) into VLAN 10; I then plug a laptop with wireshark running into VLAN 56 - cannot see any other traffic/packet...except STP packets coming from a CISCO device on VLAN 10 while I am plugged into VLAN 56.
This demonstrates to me the network is not truely seperated. I know this because last night I crossed two networks and caused havoc; ouch.I configed a D-Link switch with the same scenario and no issue.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to setup a port on a catalyst 3750 so it will pass traffic for 2 vlans. It connects to a (watchguard) firewall which I've configured with a primary IP (for vlan 27) and a secondary IP (for vlan 29).
However I can't seem to find the correct commands to enter on the cisco switch port (I've tried a variety).
FYI the current configuration is...

We have a HP Procurve 5412zl switch as our default gateway for all our VLANs from there the traffic will be going to a Cisco ASA 5515 and then to a Cisco 3800 Router then to our ISP.
We have yet to purchase the ASA but my question is about my future configuration. I will have the router of last resort on the 5412zl setup to point to the ASA inside interface, how does that work with multiple VLANs? For instance the ASA inside interface would be 10.0.0.1 but traffic could come from another VLAN via the switch with a 192.168.1.x address. Would the ASA just pass it on to the router? Or would it conside this spoofing and drop the packet?
Lastely, if we have WCCP set for the ASA's inside interface, how would it handle the redirect for multiple VLANs ip addresses? Would I use GRE for the redirect to my web filter?
I have 6500 with this STP configuration:
spanning-tree mode rapid-pvst
no spanning-tree vlan 1-4094
I need to enable STP on vlan 100 and vlan 103.
When I do "spanning-tree vlan 100,103 root primary" and then "show spanning-tree".I see that STP is not enable on these vlans (100,103).
I tried to do "no spanning-tree vlan 1-99,101,102,104-4094" and it is not work.
There is a way to enable STP on vlans 100,103 without to do "spanning-tree vlan 1-4094"
I have a small cisco switch cluster (seven different 2924, 3524cisco switches) with 3550 as a cluster control which does all the inter vlan routing that works fine.
This cluster is in semi production PBX interop testing lab. This is a closed network without internet access and not connected to our corporate network.However now I have to add this capability so some equipment in the lab can get Microsoft updates over the internet.
I've created a port on a 3550 (fa0/19) and connected it to another network that has internet access. It picked an ip address and when I'm logged in to the 3550 I can ping hosts on the outside network. However I can't ping any hosts on that network from any hosts that are connected to my vlans.I've tried a few different things, but still can't make it to work.
