I am not able to connect to password protected network while others get connected to the network and are using it.even if it gets connected it shows no internet access. I tried troubleshooting and it said no valid ip configuration.
I noticed my connection to my school's WiFi was abnormally poor, so I went into the preferences in an attempt to fix my atrocious connection. In doing so, I accidentally checked some box, and I am prompted with an "enter user credentials" message, or some crap like that. The network itself isn't password-protected, so this is a problem within MY computer. Allow me to reiterate my issue in case there was any ambiguity. I accidentally checked some box that put a password on a normally non-password-protected network.
Model wrt54gsWindows xpI got the wireless network setup and password protected and my computer and phone can sign o the wireless network, but when I try to go to a website it doesn't work. If I connect te computer directly to the modem then it works.
I am unable to get my laptop to connect to the internet when my wifi network has any type of security option or authentication selected. i want to password protect my network and it shows that the network name and passphrase i selected are correct on the router setup page. I can connect to wifi just fine when there is no authentication set on the network, but when I change it to WPA2 or WEP or any type of security on the router setup page, my laptop is able to find the network and connect with local only access. it gives me the option to reset the network adapter or generate a new ip address, but the problem still persists, and the connection only works when there is no password. is it my laptop or the router that is the problem. it has worked previously with a different router with password security.
My monthly internet allocation has recently been getting used up far more quickly than I expect it should. I am wondering if someone unauthorised is using my wireless facility. I do not remember ever applying a password to this facility. How would I find out it if has password protection?
Running three systems, Win 7, XP Media and a Vista system. My problem is with the Vista system. I need to share an external USB drive with the other two systems. Access from either of the other two systems is not allowed, get "Logon Failure: the user has not been granted logon type at this computer" Attempts to turn off "Password Protected Sharing" in the Net and Sharing Center do not work. Click OFF and then Apply results in returning to the ON status. I don't even get a request for a password on the other systems when attempting to map the drive that is on the Vista system. The Vista system is running with no windows password required.
My E4200 settings show both the 5.8GHZ and 2.4GHZ channels to be active, with SSID's displayed. However, when I look for available networks via my laptop(s)/tablets, etc, only the 2.8GHZ channel is visible. I've tried changing various settings and even updated the firmware but nothing has changed.
In addition my "guest" portal displays as not being password protected, even though it is setup for password protection in the E4200 menu.I've rebooted the router several times, but nothing has changed. The 5.8GHZ channel is not visible. The router is also performing frequent random disconnects, but that appears to be a separate issue, based on other posts.
Since I upgraded to the latest firmware I can only use the USB storage sharing when "Access shared storage with password" is left UNCHECKED. If I check the box I can no longer see the storage shares in Windows 7. I have also tried "\tploginlink.net" in the Run box, and it connects but shows me no mounted volumes. Also, Is it possible to set up more than two user accounts in addition to "admin" and "guest"?
Using Windows 7 and router wont connect to the net..it asks for a key password and when I do that it doesnt connect..I have a good channel ..I had a windows XP on this before and no problem..bought a new computer with windows 7 and cant seem to get the router to connect and pick up the signal
I will try to explain my problem as clear as possible but my knowledge about networks and routers is very limited.
I have a DIR-615 version:C1 firmware:3.13NA My ISP is ATT DSL Modem is Siemens SpeedStream 4100, it does not have a router built in Internet line is connected from wall to modem, to router, to PC.
after I upgraded the firmware I had no internet coming out of the router, I bypassed the router and connected straight to the PC and I got internet. I unplugged the power on both modem and router waited a whole night (I was too tired) and in the morning internet was back to PC and I had WIFI again BUT. When I put a password on the WIFI network all my stuff finds the signal but cannot connect, if I open the signal meaning if I have no password and the WIFI is open I can connect all of my electronics without any problems.
I already tried using WEP and WPA but still unable to connect anything, I been leaving my signal open when I'm at home for the last week and I don't like it.
Before the update everything worked fine.
I don't know if this matters but I have a PS3, Wii, Roku box, Laptop and a couple cell phones connected to it. And there are like 6 or 7 network signals close to my house.
I shared some folders in my C drive and turned off password protected sharing in the network and sharing centre from control panel. However, when I use my Seagate FreeAgent Theatre + to access the files shared online, it keeps asking me to log in with a username and password. How to I disable this?
I have somthing to ask about the ADSL modem and wifi router. (I am using Windows Xp) I have 1 ADSL modem, TP LINK TD 8812, with 2 port, LAN and USB, on the modem has 5 blinking lights, USB, LAN, ADSL, Internet and Power, I use USB port for my laptop, so that 4 lights were turned on, except the LAN's, I also have a wifi router, TENDA w316r, which is connect to the modem by LAN port, when it's connected, the LAN's light in the moden will turn on. That's what it usually works. But now, when I connect the router to the moden, the LAN's ligh on the modem just flashing then turn off right away, it works fine on different machine. I don't know why, I think it's software problem. What do you guy's think about that ? About the gateway, the modem has 1 gateway, the router has 1 gateway, too. At first, when I connect the router, I can only access to the router's gateway, when I disconnect the router, I'm back to the moden's router, how to fix that ? I want to sefl control which gateway I can connect. And now, I just can't connect to any of the 2 gateway, the router's gateway, since the LAN's light on the moden not turned on, I think that's where it begins. But the modem's gateway ? I can connect to the internet as usually but I can't access to the modem's gateway, whenever I type "192.168.1.1" (modem's default gateway) a window appears (Authentication Required) then I fill the username and password with the right infomation, then click ok but it still appears after and after and after that, when I click cancel, then browser says "Protected Object" and I can't connect to modem's gateway.
I just installed my Linksys E1000 and it seemed really easy. I allows the Guest Option, named the Network and put in a network Password. When I try to connect the phone, I don't get the screen on the phone that asks for the PW. I can connect as a guest, but it does connect with out even asking the guest password.
I got a Studio 1535 Laptop which comes with a Broadcom WiFi card that is named "Dell Wireless 1397 WLAN Mini-Card" in the Hardware Manager.
I tried to connect to my ZyXel WiFi router but though i had it all configured right, Windows would always come up with "you entered the wrong key". After playin around for some time i figured out that everything just works fine when i switched my router from WPA-PSK to WPA2-PSK. My router features both WPA-PSK and WPA2-PSK but since my other PC does only support WPA-PSK the router is set to that and i want it to stay that way. I just don't want to buy new hardware for all my other computers.
So is this WiFi card strictly incompatible with WPA-PSK? Does'nt make any sense to me because WPA2 works just fine! Normally they are downwards compatible aren't they? (Moreover, when setting up a connection i can choose WPA-PSK from the dropdown menu.
I can't connect to a wireless network even though I have the right password. I've tried connecting with my PC and my laptop but I'm getting the same problem. My aunts laptop and ipad was able to connect to the network. I can only connect to the wireless network when the yellow wire is connected from my laptop to the router.
My laptop was fine until I got an I pad for Christmas. It took me two weeks to figure out how to get the I pad online...should have been minutes I am told.now my laptop is off and I can not get it back on line..
My pc is windows 7ultimate and my laptop is vista ultimate. the router is connecting fine to the pc. as i try to connect to the laptop it keeps saying unidentified network and local access only. i tired different things but nothing seems to work. it will work only when there is no password on the wireless.
I had to go onto a website last night called "Audible" because I have a payment on my credit card showing and I wanted to know what it was. My pop up browser warned me that the site may contain harmful content but I had to proceed to be able to find out what I was being charged for. I accessed the site via an email. I have tried to open up my laptop this morning and a sign popped up saying a corrupt file had changed my homepage. I cannot click on it to set is as my default. I cannot connect to the internet either, when I click on network places and highlight my usual one it comes up with a message "This is taking longer than usual".
I've recently reinstalled a fresh windows xp operating system onto an old laptop. I've been through some trouble getting the drivers installed, but now I've finally completed that.[URL] I cannot connect to my home's WEP secured wireless network to which I have the password. After I followed the steps detailed in the link, instead of saying "detecting network type," the loading bar says "waiting for the network..." and after about 30 seconds, it disappears and nothing happens.I can connect to my router by directly connecting it with an Ethernet cord without a problem. And I know that the laptop is capable of connecting to a wireless network. I was able to connect to a nearby neighbors unsecured wifi, however it was with a very slow connection due to the distance and weak signal. It will just not connect to my own.
I have a netgear n300 WNR2000 v.2 router (which has the latest fireware as of today) and have connected to it both wirelessly and wired with my netbook. My netbook runs windows xp with sp3 and has all the lastest updates. My 2 pc's on the network are both wired and running windows 7 (both up to date with updates). I had no connectivity issues with any computers on any network ever until I got the pc's with windows 7. The 2 pc's see each other fine and they have zero issues as far as networking goes. Neither pc will interact with the xp netbook, and the netbook will not interact with either pc. I installed the LLTD on the netbook, which did allow the computers to "see" each other on the network maps. However, the computers still do not interact and say they are not on the network, even when trying to use the icon provided from the map to connect. In command prompts, all pc's and the netbook are able to ping each other with ip addresses. Only the windows 7 pcs are able to ping using net names though. When locating via "net view 192.168...", all the computers see each other and even display the appropriate names for the computers. However, using "net view pcname...", again nothing.I have selected netbios over tcp/ip, made sure the workgroup names match on all computers. The "net names" command showed no names saved in the cache.

So I'm currently running window 7 on my msi GT683-R. As of yesterday my internet stopped working, however only on my msi. I'm currently typing this on a borrowed mac using the same network that doesn't work on the other device. It also works on my iPhone. The problem is, neither the wifi nor the wired works on my MSI. I made sure DHCP was on, ran a TCP/IP stack reset, a winsock reset, have restarted my computer/router multiple times, and disabled bonjour but nothing seems to work.
I just loaded up my machine with Windows Vista Home Basic and wanted to connect my another laptop to it via Wireless AdHoc network. I created a wireless adhoc network from the network and sharing center. But was unable to connect the other laptop to it. Everything is ok. My WLAN is on, drivers are also latest.[code]
I have a BT homehub V2, I have 2 computers connected via cable, a laptop wireless an iPhone wireless and an iPod touch wireless. The cabled computer is not connecting and neither is the iPod touch, but the iPhone seems to be, as I did a speed test on it, which is giving my usual speed result. I don't no if the laptop is connecting as it's my daughters and I dare not go near it, It does not make sense to me that the iPhone is still connecting. The speed result was around 7mps
Moved into a new place recently, internet has been working fine until earlier today I closed my laptop and went to make something to eat. When I came back and turned my computer back on, it keeps giving me this message when I try to connect. It doesnt ask for a password, it simply tries to connect for a few seconds before giving up. After waiting a few hours for the problem to fix itself, one of my flatmates got home and told me they are having the same issue. I have tried restarting my computer, turning off my firewall and restarting the modem.
My son's laptop suddenly stopped being able to connect to the internet via wireless. I can see it okay but just unable to connect. I've checked the drivers and they are up to date. It shows on my network when wired and I've checked with the virus software and I can see no reason for it to be blocked.
i cannot connect to a certain wireless network. The router can take upto 4 laptops and this one will be the third so itis not a question of to many. All the other laptops can conect to the router when the pass key is put in but this computer will not. This computer will connect to other networks but not the one at home. When i put the pass key that it asks into the computer it says that it is not the right one. What am i doing wrong or is there something missing from the computer. Not very experienced at this so be patient and spell it out in laymen terms
I bought a brand new psp today and was trying for last 2 hours to connect it to my wireless network but each time it display an error code 8041160B. I called my internet service provide and we changed the WEP key but i am still getting the same error code. One weired thing I noticed that psp shows only 8 digit WEP key while my key is 10 digit. I don't know why psp doesn't show the 10 digit key. Also, the same issue happend 6 months ago and i was told psp network is closed as people ids have been stolen so i returned my psp and it seems i will have to return it again.
