View 1 Replies View RelatedI have downloaded the installation data "R147095 Dell Wireless Printer Adaptor 3300 Installation Set-UP.exe". Saved that to a new CD and loaded it to my PC. I get through most of the setup wizard but always fail at the same point - The adapter will not connect to the network. All the usual checks are positive and the network key is correct and in the appropriate case. I have run Driver Detective and that confirms that the drivers for the adapter are up to date. The printer is not yet installed on the PC and the software for it has not been loaded.
I have tried this procedure again on a second PC where the printer had been used as a wired slave printer but have uninstalled the printer first. Same result - Adapter fails to connect to the network.
Router is a Billion Bipac 7800 n. I can get other "newer" devices to connect without problems but this "old" adaptor is proving stubborn.
I could not boot the other day so I spent a few hour pulling everything out and checking memory components, etc.m taking the battery out finally fixed the boot issue but now there is no Internet or network detected or network adapter. It is not the router because pc in the other room is working fine on same connection. Mseems like a CMOS or bios issue. There was a message before boot about reverting to default bios settings. I can't update or remove driver because it is not detected and no Internet.
View 10 Replies View RelatedSo usually I'm using my Windows 7 + USB Modem with ICS enabled to give my xbox 360 internet access and it's working fine. But after upgrading it to Windows 8, my Local Area Connection now becomes Unidentified Network so I can't give my Xbox internet connection again. In diagnose the problem it says that "Local Area Connection" doesn't have a valid IP Configuration.

So i put an old wireless card from another PC into mine and it works without a hitch comes up with network adapter in device manager and installs fine, and the problem card was put into an older PC and worked fine just like expected. Im really unsure on what could cause this and im not to sure about buying another card just get incase

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am currently having a problem connecting a hardlined (ethernet connected) PC to a wireless printer. I want to know first of all if this is even possible. If so, how can I make this work? I know just enough about networking to be dangerous, but not enough to see what I am doing wrong. My network structure is as follows:
a 2Wire wireless modem/router provided by my ISP. a win xp laptop connected wirelessly a vista laptop connected wirelessly a win xp pc connected via the 2Wire ethernet port a Lexmark 4530 printer with wireless adapter connected wirelessly wireless config is WPA-personal (TKIP)
The laptops are able to print to the printer, but that is only because I used the CD for the printer to setup the wireless printing. When I look at the network neighborhood on both laptops, the printer does not appear. This leads me to believe that the printer is not connected to the network, the laptops have just created a printer connection (the port designation leads me to believe this as it just shows Lexmark 3500_4500 and not an actual address). The hardlined PC can connect to the internet, but is not visible to either of the PC's. When I try to type in the IP address listed on the printers config page, it doesn't see it. I can ping it, but can't connect. I think my problem is in the connection of the wireless printer. I can see it in the connection screen of the 2Wire status page, but I have a funny feeling it isn't configured properly. There appears to be no way to configure the printer outside of using their "wireless connection utility wizard" on the CD.
There is one other twist to this, I have a Dlink DGL4300 wireless gaming router that I use for my XBOX and to give me additional hardline ports for other things. I don't have it connected right now (my box is out of commission waiting on parts), but I did have it connected behind the 2Wire before without any problems. I would like for it to remain this way once I have the printing problem resolved. I am using DHCP right now with auto assigned IPs, but I can reconfigure the network to whatever will allow me to get this to work properly.
How do I setup a WRT160N as a wireless adapter to connect a wireless printer to my network? I do not use the wrt 160 as a router because I have an AT&T router for u-verse connection. Also, I physically cannot wire the printer to the main router (opposite corners of the house).

View 5 Replies View RelatedI got a Acer Laptop from my buddy that had windows 7 and when he had it his harddrive had crashed so he put in a older harddrive in it and installed windows Vista. Doing that caused the ethernet and network adapter to not work at all (says it need drivers) and I can't access the internet at all on it. I don't know if I can grab the drivers somewhere else or if I have to just count my losses.

I want to attach a wireless router so laptops connected with WIFI should be a part of same network.
I use a Netgear FS605 Ethernet Switch to connect a wifi modem to my network and thus to the internet. People in that room can jump online via the wifi modem. You can also print to the wireless printer in that room via that wifi modem being local. However, I can no longer print to the wifi printer from anywhere else in my network (I could before I got a new router and wifi modem in there).Would this be a problem with this Switch or with the modem e.g.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have 2 desktops (running windows 7), a Canon MF8300 printer, and an outgoing ethernet line, all on a Netgear Advanced Cable Modem Gateway CGD24-CPR. I'm only concerned with having the 2 desktops set up with the Canon printer. Both computers have been connected to the printer before and I have the startup disk. But once the new offices were set up and both of the desktops were moved, I can no longer access or find the printer.
I can IPconfig the Desktops for their IPV4 addresses and both desktops recognize eachother on a Homegroup, but I can't find the printer. I printed off the print configuration page from the printer which gave me an IP address (printer is set for auto-obtain), but using an IP search won't bring up the printer. All of the devices are plugged into ethernet ports set up for the three different office they are in and the actual location of the Netgear cable modem/router is over 100 feet away. My primary concern is getting the printer for the desktops, but I also need to add a wireless router into one of those office in the future.

I've tried a variety of different settings but cannot seem to get it to work.

When I select the settings link it attempts to open the page but then the lights on the adapter start to flash and it seems to lose the connection with it ....... The other links e.g. status, information and security seem to work OK provided they are aceessed before I select the settings link. One the lights have started to flash I have to switch off the adapter and switch back to restore the connection to the network. The adapter is connected to a BTHomehub. Other than this issue the printer works fine through the network.

The modem and router have to be downstairs due to the cables. I want to connect my NAS to my iMAc which is upstairs, but also to my Macbook Air...
The iMac is upstairs and that is where my old router was, so I have my NAS up next to the iMac. I was thinking that maybe I could get a wi-fi extender with a built in ethernet port and connect the NAS to the extender... or maybe connect the NAS directly into the iMac...

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm on a network in an office where each person's computer has different specs, some PC, some Mac. We all share files off a common drive, either using it directly, or, copying it to our local machine to work on it then return it to the shared drive. I'm looking for a way to attach a notification to a file to let everyone know it has been "signed out" by someone, to avoid two people taking the same file at the same time.I looked at a simple program called Shediko Badges, which puts a badge over the icon, by right clickingon the file and choosing a badge from a menu, and undone just as easily, however, it can't be seen by everyone else on the network. This is the sort of thing I'm looking for, simple, cheap or free, that somehow marks a specific file without changing the name. It could be a colour change, an icon change... whatever, ideally with several options, for example where a different colour could be assigned to each person in the office, similar to the coloured labels on a Mac.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy DIR-825 is not in an ideal spot so I am thinking of getting an extension cable for the antenna (probably for both), drilling a little hole in a wall and mounting the antenna in a more central location. It really is just on the other side of a wall, maybe 5 feet total for distance, but in an open area where the signal should reach more of the house.
Can I run a cable and attach the antennas five feet away from the device itself? Is there anything I should look for in an extension cable?
