My pc has a on board ethernet adaptor that stopped working all of sudden... I have no idea about what to do... I tried to check if there were any problem with a driver or something but the nic isn't even detected by the pc..
View 1 RepliesEthernet stop working, but the wireless is fine, check in the device manger for any conflics none. open the network sharing centre and ran the truoble shooting utiiity and message came up with ethernet cable not plug in or brocken, which i have change it for a new one so its not the cable and its not the routor because B.T just gave me the new B.T Hub3, this network adaptor is on board and i have a wireless card in the PCI slot and the is a new main board which i built, everything was fine afew months ago til this started to acur

My husband got a virus I couldn't remove. I have the CD for XP Home so I did a clean install.Windows works fine. I connected the USB wireless adapter and ran the installation disk. When I open Realtek to connect nothing appears in the available networks. I checked the device mgr and it says Realtek is working. I turned off my 2Wire gateway and then reconnected it. I doubled checked that the Windows wireless utility is disabled. Still no available networks. Everything was fine before the reinstall of Windows XP Home.

View 6 Replies View RelatedMy parents have a windows 7 desktop with ethernet plugged in for internet. I use a Asus EEE 1005HA with jolicloud. They do not have wireless, only wired internet. When I plug in the ethernet cable, the netbook doesn't recognize the internet access. Nothing wrong with the ethernet port on the netbook, as i've used wired network at my dorm and the port does recognize the ethernet cable at my parents' house.
Also, is it possible to use the desktop as a sort of wireless router? Would connecting a usb wireless dongle to the desktop allow me to connect my netbook to the internet via the desktop?
I've found my old (1, or 2 years old) Realtek RTL8187B USB 2.0 Wireless Adapter. I plugged in into my PC, but it doesn't find any networks, but it works 100% on my laptop. On PC windows said, that maybe something wrong with the driver, I reinstalled it a few times, but same happened again, again. Both has Windows 7 Professional 64-bit.

Now my internet status is "No internet access" but when i connect my ethernet cable the internet starts working and i can see the "Internet access" status. I have re-installed my wi-fi driver too from the orignal CD that i got with my laptop, but still no luck also i did not install anything in past 1 week and the only anti-virus i have is Avast (tried disabling it too). I plugged out the cables from my router and plugged them again but that dint work too. There are 2 other laptops (running on windows 7 just like mine) on which the wifi connection is working but on mine it is not working.
View 9 Replies View RelatedFor some reason today my desktop stopped being able to share media with other computers and devices.I mainly use PS3 Media Server to stream and download content to multiple devices including my PS3, Xbox 360, iPad, and iPhone. Now none of those devices can see the server. I tried restarting it, restarting my computer, and updating to the latest version.I've also tried turning on other media servers like TVersity and Windows Media Player and none of my devices can detect any of those either, so there must be something wrong with my desktop's networking (but it can still get internet). I haven't made any changes to my home network since yesterday (the last time I used my media server).My desktop runs on a wireless network with a Broadcom 802.11g Network Adapter, my router is a Netgear WGT624v4, and my cable modem is a Toshiba. However, if i switch to a wireless adapter it sometimes works (like right now) even when my brother is not using the internet. My problem is that whenever I switch my pc on I have to physically enable the WZC program and then select windows to manage my wireless network settings. Once I enable it this way it is fine, but then if I restart or shut down my pc then I have to do all the process again...which is rather annoying!I have a BT Home Hub 2.0 and Cisco WUSB600N dual band wireless adapter.I understand you have to choose one program to manage the wireless network settings as they conflict, but on the Network Magic program that comes with the Cisco adapter, I cannot find an option on there to disable it.There is another pc using the hub with an exact same adapter aswell and when that is switched on the broadband connection automatically loads on that. So I am a bit stuck, I've trawled the internet for answers but have come to a dead end.

The pc won't even acknowledge that they are pluged in, but the lights on the card are flashing. Had it working once but when I moved it to my desk and booted it up nothing worked again. My older PC needs to have the enternet cable disconnected before Windows boots, then once the OS is all booted, I plug the ethernet cable back in and I get an internet connection. On my new PC, I had to go into Device Manager and delete the ethernet card ( not the drivers) then reboot. Windows then recognized the card and connection and the Internet works. What is causing this? One PC is an Intel I-7 quad core, the new one is an Intel I-7 six core. Both hardwired to the Belkin N router. My old XP PCs do not have this problem.

I'm currently relocating, so I unplugged my laptop from the Ethernet connection I had at my old place.At two different locales, I have tried to use an Ethernet connection in order to get better speed (the wireless at the first locale was non-existent and at the second it is extremely slow in my room). I have done so with two separate cables that I have tested on others' computers and found that they are perfectly fine. That, of course, leads me to believe that it is my computer and is either a hardware or software problem (here's hoping it's the latter).Anyway, my laptop is a Dell Inspiron 1720 (purchased in 2006). About a year ago, I updated to Windows 7 from the pre-installed Vista. Never had any problems (as I said, everything was fine up until about a week ago). The installed card is a Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller. Everything under Device Manager indicates that the hardware is working properly and has all of its drivers installed, but nothing is working.I have tried to uninstall and re-install the drivers (albeit by allowing windows to find them automatically), but the result is the exact same.I have checked the port and found that there is no debris or obstructions. My computer hasn't been dropped or mishandled in any way.
