I was trying to get into my router to give it a reboot yesterday, but was unable to get into the console. I used the username/password I've used for over a year (it was also auto saved) but it would not let me in. I went through all the steps to do a hard reset/restore default settings and it wouldn't let me. I had to access the boot loader to reload firmware, and that worked out just fine.
Now, I still cannot get access to the administration console with the default username (blank) and password (admin). I've tried moving my PC to ports 1-4 and none work.
I was about to give up on the router but I tried connecting from my iPhone and everything works just fine. I was even able to change my SSID and WPA key again.
Would this be a hardware issue, or could there be something in Windows 7 that's affecting it? I have disabled the windows firewall and AVG and still can't get any access from either Firefox or IE.
A couple of times I was able to get onto the first page of the console through IE, but if i tried clicking anything else it would ask for the username/password again and not connect. Now it won't even let me in once.
I wanted to update the F/w on my rev b dir 825, but unable to load the login console for admin, I haven't changed anything and the router was still on 2.07NA f/w
Our main ASA5510 is set up to failover to a second 5510, and is using the management port for that purpose. All of the other LAN ports are in use.
Currently we can manage the ASA using ASDM5.2 from and device on the LAN.
We are now going through PCI Compliance, and one of the vunerability scans has picked up the fact that the firewall appears to accept connections on SSL v2. However, if I try to set SSL to use v3 or TLS v1 only (as we don't use webVPN), I get a message that I will no longer be able to use ASDM to manage the firewall as changing to SSL v3 will 'prevent ASDM from establishing a secure connection with the ASA'
So does this mean that the ASA does use / accept SSL v2? The help files say that it will accept 'hellos' in v2 but will then try to negotiate to SSLv3 or TLS v1. It doesn't give more details about what happens next, but I would have assumed that if it can't negotiate to one of the later protocols it will drop the connection - is this correct? If that's the case I may be able to get PCI to accept it.
However, if this is not acceptiable and I have to switch to SSL v3, what options do I now have of administering the ASA through a GUI?
I'm having an issue with our WAP2000 access point. I had to reset the access point and now I can't access the admin console. I've set a static IP address just as I did when I first set it up. Now when I browse to the 192.168.1.245 in my browser it just displays an Authentication error.
I am having intermittent problems with wireless connectivity to this router. It stops responding to requests completely but existing connections continue to function.
The hardwired connections also are functional but I cannot get to the admin console to see what is going on. The router is currently not being used to connect to the outside world. When it was before this situation still existed. I am using firmware version V2.0.1.3
Although I hasten to point out that I have owned and used an 'IBM' type PC since 1988 and have always managed to get things configured correctly until NOW!
Apart from the last time I tried to use a Linksys product. I had the WRVS4400N recommended to us by a friend as we run a small FTP server to share promotional materials amongst sales operatives around the world, wanted to protect it from intrusion and was told that a Cisco Linksys product with a VPN was the way to go.
I duly purchased a WRVS440N and have been trying to log into the admin console via both browsers (IE9 and Google Chrome) that are installed on a laptop running Win7 which in turn is the only thing connected to the stated device via ethernet port 1... I have tried accessing it via http://192.168.1.1 and have even tried a suggestion from another forum to try https://192.168.1.1 - this only results in my being told that the address does not have a trusted certificate and I even tried every suggested workaround...
I have tried all kinds of reset periods from 10 seconds to a minute, both hot and cold and each time the result is the same - I type in 'admin' and 'admin' in the appropriate boxes and the dialogue box continues to return to the browser window with empty fields...
The shame is that I have managed to re-flash a BT Voyager 190 ethernet modem successfully with DynaLink v3.29a firmware (which allows it to be used with any ISP besides AOL [for whom this modem was solely intended]) and can set it up as a DHCP server, non-DHCP with a single link to another server or non-DHCP and no link.... The point is the modem works... I'm using it right now to type this! We have a single static IP from our ISP and the BT modem is working just fine (as is the TP-Link wireless modem/router that the WRVS4400N was intended to replace)... there are other options in it's firmware for port forwarding, etc and I'm convinced that it wil be adequate for use in conjunction with the WRVS4400N.
I have to concede that the WRVS4400N was not sold to us as NIB; it was sold as re-conditioned and was shipped to or via Ingram Micro Distribution from Cisco Systems, Veldweg 3, Herkenbosch 6075 NL (Holland) via UPS on or about the 31st of July, 2012... there is a shipping label on the original packaging that tells me that so it has in fact been back to Cisco at some point and for some reason.
Before, I can access admin panel of router via 192.168.1.1 on any computer, be it wired or wireless. This time, I can't anymore. This time, I can only access admin panel on 1 computer only. The computer in which it's directly connected to the router, wired. All other computers, connected to a switch, which the switch is also connected to router, can no longer access admin panel.I can still open 192.168.1.1 with a username/password prompt but I can't log in. It's like it's always wrong password. Same with accessing from laptop (wireless). Before, I can access admin panel from any computer (wired), even from laptop (wireless). There are times that I have to restart router in order to fix my internet connection. Only this time, I have to access it from the computer that's directly connected to router (wired). How do I revert it back so that all computers will be able to connect to admin panel of router?I have just finished upgrading firmware from 1.0.05 to 1.0.06 but I still have the same problem.
I have a WRT120N with Firmware 1.0.06..First peculiarity is that I can't access the web based admin screen from Firefox 7.0.1. The password prompt appears but won't proceed from there.Second, and main issue is that frequently (several times a day) I get a 'Limited Access' error on my wireless connection. On mouse roll over Windows 7 Pro gives the error message 'no internet access'. This problem appears to resolve itself after several minutes or straight away if the router is powercycled. During these 'Limited Access' moments I am unable to connect to the route web based admin page nor ping or tracert. [code]
I had a Cisco AS5350 , and it works correctly through the year. but now I could not conncet to it even with console cable .my windows is server 2008 ,COM1,9600, but in hyper terminal I couldnt see anything from cisco, even I have change my console cable , but it still doesnt work.
They brought me a LAP1522 referring that it is not working properly. I am trying to connect to console port but the problem is that I only get log messages but I cannot edit something or type any commands. I have attached the log messages if you can catch something from there. Ignore the messages about not finding controller because the AP has been removed from the real network to my office.
I'm plug with my laptop on the DLINK, no internet connexion available, and it's impossible to connect to 192.168.0.1 ..What am i suppose to do, i need to configure a static ip and specifics dns to get to the internet, and it seems that without internet i can't acces to 192.168.0.1 ...
I need to connect to the console port on a cisco firewall, an rj-45 connector. The cable is a rj-45 at one end and a serial on the other. My PC has no serial port and I am unable to use the provided cable to connect to the firewall appliance. Is there software that can allow serial over my PC's Ethernet? I really don't have time to order a serial card for my PC.
I have a SG500-28-K9-G5 at work and I'm tyring to connect to it trough the console port via Putty and get wierd symbols: When I press any button I see alot of wierd symbols comming up, for example if I press shift+6 or Enter (or anything). [code]
I made a lot of tests during some days with a wlc4402 and everything was ok.
One day when I tried to reset the system I had a lot of errors (see attach) and could not go on. After changing the image the following output appeared: "RAM Disk Image Integrity Check Failed (Bad Magic Number) Hanging". Now I have no response from the controller.
I was trying to add an Access Rule then Nat rule, they applied ok then i lost connection to my ASA 5510.I cant ping device ip, i cant connect via console , only can acess via Management port, i have pasted Running config. [code]
I can't connect to the console of switch cisco sge2010, I tried several console cables and none worked for me, I followed step by step manuals and nothing.
Also try the web 192.168.1.254 according to the manual but when I connect from the laptop to do ping to the switch doesnt work.
I just got back from being gone for a couple weeks and my router stopped working. I tried to reset the router and connect to the admin screen at 192.168.1.1, but it gives a "page not found" error. My internet work with a wired connection to the router, and the computer's IP address is 66.xxx.xxx.xxx. Looking at most forums which talk about this problem it seems like most people have IP addresses starting with 192. Why does mine start with 66? Is this related to the problem of being unable to access the admin screen? This is a home network and I'm running Ubuntu and have a Linksys WRT54G router. I get the same IP address whether I connect just from the modem to the PC, or from modem to router to PC.
I have a 3750X stack of 6 switches, I have a terminal server console server plugged into the console ports of all 6 switches. I am having a strange issue where I can connect to the master via the console, get a login prompt then I can log in, but when I try and connect to any of the members then I get a prompt "Press RETURN to get started" When I push return, it just loops back to the same prompt again:
switch-6 con0 is now available Press RETURN to get started.
switch-6 con0 is now available Press RETURN to get started.
I can connect to the stack via SSH fine etc. I am running 15.0(1)SE2. The stack is configured for TACACS+ auth via Cisco ACS.

I've tried everything I can think of to try to connect to the internet with my Linksys WRT120N router.
The Problem
A few months ago my internet was out for a few hours, but I thought it was a router problem so I disconnected the router and connected my computer to the internet through my DSL modem. Of course, I couldn't connect to the internet because the internet was just out for a few hours on my provider's end. But after that the router wouldn't connect back to the internet.
Computer Specs
Windows Vista 32 bit. Intel Core2 DUO, 2.20 GHz, 2 GB RAM
Here are a list of things I've tried.
1. Installing it with the install disc. 2. Installing it manually 3. Updating the Firmware 4. Resetting the router multiple times 5. Making sure that Obtain IP Address Automatically is selected 6. Putting my MAC address into the router settings 7. Renewing my IP address 8. Flushing my DNS 9. Disabling both my Firewall and then making sure Windows Firewall was off 10. While doing all of this I rebooted my computer and powered down my DSL modem and router several times.
After pulling a brand new ASA5515 out of the box this morning, I spent countless hours scratching my head wondering why:
1. I cannot establish an HTTPS connection to the Management port - https://192.168.1.1/admin
2. When connecting via the console port I get prompted with a username and password sequence that I don't know
I get an SSL Version Error message when I try to connect with any browser. although I did find a way to resolve it, it requires a console port connection which is not working either. This is not my typical experience with the console or ASDM port setup.
What kind of cable is required to connect to the Console on a Linksys SRW2024 switch ? ( I've lost the original cable )I use the following settings: Speed 38400, 8 bits, no parity, no flow control and stop bits 1I have tried a serial cable, no go.I have tried a null modem cable with partial handshaking, no go.I have tried a null modem cable with full handshaking, no go.For the null modem cables, if I use it to connect between computers using hyperterminal it works very well. What I type on one computer appears on the other computer's screen. However, I can't get anything out of the switch. I've tried pressing Enter repeatedly, resetting the switch with the Console cable on, etc.
I finally managed to set up this DSL modem / router on Sunday to replace my old Billion router. I set it up with DHCP and running on IP 192.168.1.254.Last night, the power tripped, and when everything came up again the entire network was dead - PC's were not getting IP's from DHCP.I connected a known working cable directly from laptop to router and attempted to access 192.168.1.254, nothing. So I reset the router and try again to the default IP 192.168.1.1. Nothing. Tried another PC, nothing.Restart router, try again, nothing. Plugged into my other router and try again, nothing. When I initially got the router I had the same problem until one day it just worked, still no idea why
Motorola wr850gp wireless router. The default ip is 192.168.10.1. I attempted to use it as a wireless access point and now it is not working at all. I tried connecting the router LAN port to the computer and 192.168.10.1 pulls up nothing.I tried connecting the modem to the WAN port and the LAN port of the router to the PC, but then I have no internet access at all. I tried resetting the router, still nothingAll lights on the router are green. I don't know what the heck is going on?
For about a month or two now, I've not been able to connect to my router's admin page @ 192.168.1.1 I am using a D-Link DSL-2680 router.
Whenever I go to connect to 192.168.1.1 in my Web Browser, it just sits there trying to connect and does nothing. But eventually after some minutes I get the error: 'This web page is not available The web page at http://192.168.1.1/ might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address. Error 101 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_RESET): Unknown error.' Here is a screenshot:
I tried pressing the reset button on the back of my router, but it would just sit there with the green power LED and another green LED just flashing constantly (I assume this is the ethernet 1 cable LED) and this happens for more than 10 minutes.
All I want to do is just port forward my game servers again without the use of Hamachi or other programs
I don't have to completely reset my router as I have a ton of configs on it. Anyway, recently for some reason, I lost all access to my admin page. Cisco Connect also cannot find the router. Funny thing is that all of my wireless profiles work just fine. Meaning all of the computers in my home connect to the internet just fine using the router. Both the guest access and WPA connected machines.[url]...
This is an odd one, possibly a broken unit but I have a SRW2024P which has been running for a couple of years all OK but some time ago I noticed I couldn't access the web interface. I decided to leave it until I actually needed to change something, which is now!
After much messing around modifying a null-modem cable to work (i.e. connected pins 2,3 and 5) I managed to connect to the console through HyperTerm. Did a full factory re-set and XMoDem'd the 1.2.9 software on again but still no luck.
I tried accessing the web console and telnet with the default IP and tried setting my own IP but can't even ping them.
There are a few other peculiarities: The units MAC address in the console is shown as 00-00-00-00-00-00The units hardware version is blank in the consoleBoth PING and TRACERT tests fail to any address except the units ownTFTP uploads fail to connect (the TFTP server doesn't even log an access attempt)All other clients connected to the switch are working fine and the port statuses in the console show working connections Basically; it is as if the web/config/admin 'module' is disconnected from the actual switch in some way?
My desktop (that I am currently on) connects fine to the router but I can't get my laptop to wirelessly connect to the router.. it finds it and sometimes it says that it is connected but the connection is broken and can't be repaired. The wireless on the laptop itself says it is also loggen in. I really don't know what to do.. Laptop is an Acer Aspire One Windows XP model number ZG5 Router is Linksis by Cisco model number WRT120N It is Encrypted WPA2 I do have firewalls I am just really confused.. It did connect for like 10 seconds and then nothing.
I just bought a WRT120N to set up with my new Gateway Windows 7 64-bit using Cablevision cable internet. When I go through the steps from the CD to install, the wizard does not find the connection. When the internet is plugged directly into the computer, it works fine. If I have the router plugged in first and then run the install CD, it picks up the router as an existing router but I can't get it to install
I tried all methods: Cisco Connect (on Vista), http and https, but none works. However, the router seems function correctly. My laptop can acquire DHCP address and browse via the router. But I just cannot connect to the router to perform Admin tasks.Problem: when I launch CiscoConnect: the GUI shows "Cannot access your router", even though I am using the router to browse the net wirelessly and wirely. Using browser to navigate to http://192.168.1.1 and https://192.168.1.1 also give me cannot access error!
