Unable To Connect To Router Admin Panel At 192.168.1.1
Oct 18, 2012
I just got back from being gone for a couple weeks and my router stopped working. I tried to reset the router and connect to the admin screen at 192.168.1.1, but it gives a "page not found" error. My internet work with a wired connection to the router, and the computer's IP address is 66.xxx.xxx.xxx. Looking at most forums which talk about this problem it seems like most people have IP addresses starting with 192. Why does mine start with 66? Is this related to the problem of being unable to access the admin screen? This is a home network and I'm running Ubuntu and have a Linksys WRT54G router. I get the same IP address whether I connect just from the modem to the PC, or from modem to router to PC.

As I've seen in my Linksys' admin panel, I have a log option (Administration/Log). So if I enabled it i can check which sites was browsed in my home network? And the second question: if Linksys can store the browsed sites history and if I will use a VPN connection on my PC or iPhone (not router!) the logs will be still look like before setting-up VPN on PC? So like: [URL] not like: [URL]?

Before, I can access admin panel of router via 192.168.1.1 on any computer, be it wired or wireless. This time, I can't anymore. This time, I can only access admin panel on 1 computer only. The computer in which it's directly connected to the router, wired. All other computers, connected to a switch, which the switch is also connected to router, can no longer access admin panel.I can still open 192.168.1.1 with a username/password prompt but I can't log in. It's like it's always wrong password. Same with accessing from laptop (wireless). Before, I can access admin panel from any computer (wired), even from laptop (wireless). There are times that I have to restart router in order to fix my internet connection. Only this time, I have to access it from the computer that's directly connected to router (wired). How do I revert it back so that all computers will be able to connect to admin panel of router?I have just finished upgrading firmware from 1.0.05 to 1.0.06 but I still have the same problem.

When I first installed my wireless router a few years ago, I did it with my old computer which has Windows XP as its operating system. It is on this computer that the Linksys "admin control panel" is installed, which allows me see what computers are connected through the router, see what the settings of the router are, etc. I recently purchased a new computer which has Windows 7 as the operating system. As I transfer programs and documents from my old computer to my new computer, I have run into the problem of how to transfer the Linksys "admin control panel" from my old computer to my new computer. The original installation CD for Linksys won't work with Windows 7 so I don't even have that as a starting point. I tried going to the web-based admin site, but can't access it from either computer.

This is an odd one, possibly a broken unit but I have a SRW2024P which has been running for a couple of years all OK but some time ago I noticed I couldn't access the web interface. I decided to leave it until I actually needed to change something, which is now!
After much messing around modifying a null-modem cable to work (i.e. connected pins 2,3 and 5) I managed to connect to the console through HyperTerm. Did a full factory re-set and XMoDem'd the 1.2.9 software on again but still no luck.
I tried accessing the web console and telnet with the default IP and tried setting my own IP but can't even ping them.
There are a few other peculiarities: The units MAC address in the console is shown as 00-00-00-00-00-00The units hardware version is blank in the consoleBoth PING and TRACERT tests fail to any address except the units ownTFTP uploads fail to connect (the TFTP server doesn't even log an access attempt)All other clients connected to the switch are working fine and the port statuses in the console show working connections Basically; it is as if the web/config/admin 'module' is disconnected from the actual switch in some way?

Motorola wr850gp wireless router. The default ip is 192.168.10.1. I attempted to use it as a wireless access point and now it is not working at all. I tried connecting the router LAN port to the computer and 192.168.10.1 pulls up nothing.I tried connecting the modem to the WAN port and the LAN port of the router to the PC, but then I have no internet access at all. I tried resetting the router, still nothingAll lights on the router are green. I don't know what the heck is going on?

For about a month or two now, I've not been able to connect to my router's admin page @ 192.168.1.1 I am using a D-Link DSL-2680 router.
Whenever I go to connect to 192.168.1.1 in my Web Browser, it just sits there trying to connect and does nothing. But eventually after some minutes I get the error: 'This web page is not available The web page at http://192.168.1.1/ might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address. Error 101 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_RESET): Unknown error.' Here is a screenshot:
I tried pressing the reset button on the back of my router, but it would just sit there with the green power LED and another green LED just flashing constantly (I assume this is the ethernet 1 cable LED) and this happens for more than 10 minutes.
All I want to do is just port forward my game servers again without the use of Hamachi or other programs

I don't have to completely reset my router as I have a ton of configs on it. Anyway, recently for some reason, I lost all access to my admin page. Cisco Connect also cannot find the router. Funny thing is that all of my wireless profiles work just fine. Meaning all of the computers in my home connect to the internet just fine using the router. Both the guest access and WPA connected machines.[url]...

Router is a DIR-601 hardware B with firmware 2.00NA Using the router connected to a cable modem, I was unable to gain admin access via WAN.To troubleshoot the problem, I connected the router to the LAN side of my main router (DHCP server, DNS, etc.) The primary router correctly assigns a WAN IP to the 601. The 601 operates normally to access the Internet either via its WiFi or via Ethernet. The 601 is configured for a different IP address range on its LAN side so there is no IP address conflict possible with my main router. On Tools->Administration, Enable Remote Management is checked, Remote Admin port is 1080 (I've tried others), and Remote Admin Inbound Filter is set to Allow. In this case the WAN IP address of the router is 192.168.0.98. When I go to http://192.168.0.98:1080/ with a web browser from the WAN side, I get no response. From the same computer I can ping the router with "ping 192.168.0.98".I figure I have to be missing something here. It appears that this feature just is not there, but others must have this working. It seems like I've tried every possible combination of filters, port numbers, etc., but it just doesn't respond from the WAN side. (192.168.1.1 on port 80 works just fine from the LAN side.)

I tried all methods: Cisco Connect (on Vista), http and https, but none works. However, the router seems function correctly. My laptop can acquire DHCP address and browse via the router. But I just cannot connect to the router to perform Admin tasks.Problem: when I launch CiscoConnect: the GUI shows "Cannot access your router", even though I am using the router to browse the net wirelessly and wirely. Using browser to navigate to http://192.168.1.1 and https://192.168.1.1 also give me cannot access error!

I recently installed a WAP4410N for a customer without any problem, but a few days later I received a call requesting assistance as the customer could not login to the web admin page.
The login screen was showing, but it wasn't acceptingthe username and password that I had set. Today I visited customer to investigate.
I discovered that I could login without any problem using my Windows laptop, but that customer could not use any of their Apple MACs to login.
Apart from one Windows PC, all customer computers were Apple OS. Customer could login using their Windows PC without any problem.

Although I hasten to point out that I have owned and used an 'IBM' type PC since 1988 and have always managed to get things configured correctly until NOW!
Apart from the last time I tried to use a Linksys product. I had the WRVS4400N recommended to us by a friend as we run a small FTP server to share promotional materials amongst sales operatives around the world, wanted to protect it from intrusion and was told that a Cisco Linksys product with a VPN was the way to go.
I duly purchased a WRVS440N and have been trying to log into the admin console via both browsers (IE9 and Google Chrome) that are installed on a laptop running Win7 which in turn is the only thing connected to the stated device via ethernet port 1... I have tried accessing it via http://192.168.1.1 and have even tried a suggestion from another forum to try https://192.168.1.1 - this only results in my being told that the address does not have a trusted certificate and I even tried every suggested workaround...
I have tried all kinds of reset periods from 10 seconds to a minute, both hot and cold and each time the result is the same - I type in 'admin' and 'admin' in the appropriate boxes and the dialogue box continues to return to the browser window with empty fields...
The shame is that I have managed to re-flash a BT Voyager 190 ethernet modem successfully with DynaLink v3.29a firmware (which allows it to be used with any ISP besides AOL [for whom this modem was solely intended]) and can set it up as a DHCP server, non-DHCP with a single link to another server or non-DHCP and no link.... The point is the modem works... I'm using it right now to type this! We have a single static IP from our ISP and the BT modem is working just fine (as is the TP-Link wireless modem/router that the WRVS4400N was intended to replace)... there are other options in it's firmware for port forwarding, etc and I'm convinced that it wil be adequate for use in conjunction with the WRVS4400N.
I have to concede that the WRVS4400N was not sold to us as NIB; it was sold as re-conditioned and was shipped to or via Ingram Micro Distribution from Cisco Systems, Veldweg 3, Herkenbosch 6075 NL (Holland) via UPS on or about the 31st of July, 2012... there is a shipping label on the original packaging that tells me that so it has in fact been back to Cisco at some point and for some reason.

Here is the setup: A US Robotics USR-9108 router is connected to an ADSL modem via ethernet cable. The modem, upon connecting with the ISP, provides a gateway address of 192.168.1.1 to the router. End-users including me connect to the internet through the router via WiFi and are assigned the IP 192.168.1.2...192.168.1.255.
When disconnected from the modem, I can access the control panel via 192.168.3.1 but once the ethernet cable is plugged in I cannot access the above-mentioned IP; connecting to 192.168.1.1 opens up the modem's control panel. Any possible way to access the router control panel while it is connected to the internet?

I am going to replace my Netgear DGND3700v2 router with Linksys EA6500. I hope that the signal strength of this router will be better, particularly for 5GHz.The problem is that I have a cable connection to Internet and my line has MAC address of Netgear assigned by my ISP. I would like to clone this address to EA6500 to test the power of the signal, before making the final decision to replace Netgear. My question is how to do this in off-line mode. I cannot have Internet before cloning.I've been using Internet Explorer with various addresses - 192.168.0.1; 192.168.1.1; myrouter.local; even 192.168.2.1 and some others but couldn't get connected to EA6500. Of course, the original CD suppied with the router does not work, either. Is there any other way to get to router configuration panel to proceed with cloning the MAC address?

I was trying to get into my router to give it a reboot yesterday, but was unable to get into the console. I used the username/password I've used for over a year (it was also auto saved) but it would not let me in. I went through all the steps to do a hard reset/restore default settings and it wouldn't let me. I had to access the boot loader to reload firmware, and that worked out just fine.
Now, I still cannot get access to the administration console with the default username (blank) and password (admin). I've tried moving my PC to ports 1-4 and none work.
I was about to give up on the router but I tried connecting from my iPhone and everything works just fine. I was even able to change my SSID and WPA key again.
Would this be a hardware issue, or could there be something in Windows 7 that's affecting it? I have disabled the windows firewall and AVG and still can't get any access from either Firefox or IE.
A couple of times I was able to get onto the first page of the console through IE, but if i tried clicking anything else it would ask for the username/password again and not connect. Now it won't even let me in once.

I finally managed to set up this DSL modem / router on Sunday to replace my old Billion router. I set it up with DHCP and running on IP 192.168.1.254.Last night, the power tripped, and when everything came up again the entire network was dead - PC's were not getting IP's from DHCP.I connected a known working cable directly from laptop to router and attempted to access 192.168.1.254, nothing. So I reset the router and try again to the default IP 192.168.1.1. Nothing. Tried another PC, nothing.Restart router, try again, nothing. Plugged into my other router and try again, nothing. When I initially got the router I had the same problem until one day it just worked, still no idea why

I am no longer able to connect to my router's GUI. My internet is working fine and I have verified that my router's IP address has not changed. My virtual server is still accessible via the web and can access my desktop via RDP. But I can not for the life of me access the GUI on my router either via LAN or through my WAN IP. I think I may have forwarded port 80 to my virtual server but I can't say for certain. The last time I made changes to the port forwarding settings was a while ago. But I just noticed the issue of not being able to connect to the router today.
I am using a Buffalo Tech router with DD-WRT.
Do you know of any other ways that I can access the GUI on this thing? Maybe something I am missing? Its extremely frustrating because at this point I can't manage my network at all...
I also know that I disabled the ability to TELNET to the router..

I recently used my dad's Acer Aspire 5040 and saw that he was using xp service pack 2. I thought i'd do him a good turn by putting service pack 3 on and now i can't get it to connect to the wireless router. At first it was saying "you are connected to this network" in the list, but still saying "Not connected" in the top right.I thought it may need updated drivers so I have installed everything from the Acer site, including the Atheros Client Utility.
Now, when i use the auto settings it defaults to the ip 169.254.161.135 with the default gateway the same, but my router gateway is 10.1.1.1. so it says it has limited or no connectivity.I try to change the settings manually and everything goes green and says connected but it still wont access the internet or ping the other computers.I have tried resetting the router as I thought it may have been that not resolving DNS addresses but my netbook is connecting to it fine.

Since recently I am no longer able to connect to my router from one of my laptops. The connection is failing wireless as well as by cable. My other two laptops are having no problem at all so I think it is a problem with the laptop.I check other posts and found I could do a TCP/IP reset so I have done that.If have executed these commands on a elevated command line:
- netsh winsock reset catalog
- netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log
- netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log
I have restared the laptop afterwards but the problem remains: I am unable to connect to the router. This is the output of the "ipconfig /all" command (command is ran while I've had only the adapter with the cable enabled, wireless adapter was disabled): [code]

Is there a way to tell if this is a problem with the router or the modem.

I have 2 computers and 1 printer connected to the dsl modem and another computer and 2 printers connected to a router, I have internet connection to all. the problem I am having is I am trying to add 2 of the printers that are on the router to my pc's but I am unable to locate them also I am unable to log into my router through one of the computers that is connected to my modem directly but I can connect to my router with the pc connected directly to the router.
All the printers are set to share. Is the only way to do this is to connect all the printers to the main PC and then network all the pc's together? I am just trying to connect to all the printers that are on modem and router from any of the pc's connected to modem and router.
