I recently changed from high speed Internet to high speed Cable and bought a Motorola SB6120 modem. Connected to the modem is my Cisco router WRT16N V.3. I can connect to the Internet when I connect my LAN cable to my router, but am unable to set up my router to communicate with my wife's and my laptop. View 13 RepliesI am no longer able to connect to my router's GUI. My internet is working fine and I have verified that my router's IP address has not changed. My virtual server is still accessible via the web and can access my desktop via RDP. But I can not for the life of me access the GUI on my router either via LAN or through my WAN IP. I think I may have forwarded port 80 to my virtual server but I can't say for certain. The last time I made changes to the port forwarding settings was a while ago. But I just noticed the issue of not being able to connect to the router today.
I am using a Buffalo Tech router with DD-WRT.
Do you know of any other ways that I can access the GUI on this thing? Maybe something I am missing? Its extremely frustrating because at this point I can't manage my network at all...
I also know that I disabled the ability to TELNET to the router..
I recently used my dad's Acer Aspire 5040 and saw that he was using xp service pack 2. I thought i'd do him a good turn by putting service pack 3 on and now i can't get it to connect to the wireless router.At first it was saying "you are connected to this network" in the list, but still saying "Not connected" in the top right.I thought it may need updated drivers so I have installed everything from the Acer site, including the Atheros Client Utility.
Now, when i use the auto settings it defaults to the ip 169.254.161.135 with the default gateway the same, but my router gateway is 10.1.1.1. so it says it has limited or no connectivity.I try to change the settings manually and everything goes green and says connected but it still wont access the internet or ping the other computers.I have tried resetting the router as I thought it may have been that not resolving DNS addresses but my netbook is connecting to it fine.

My other two laptops are having no problem at all so I think it is a problem with the laptop.I check other posts and found I could do a TCP/IP reset so I have done that.If have executed these commands on a elevated command line:

View 7 Replies View RelatedMy modem seems to be bad (my thoughts) the twc says it is working perfectly however i do not think so. about 2 weeks ago it stopped working with our router. i have since tried 2 other different routers on it linksys g (the original) linksys b and, Netgear g (brand new never been out of the box) none of these routers would connect to the internet however if i hook directly to the modem internet works fine. Is there a way to tell if this is a problem with the router or the modem.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have 2 computers and 1 printer connected to the dsl modem and another computer and 2 printers connected to a router, I have internet connection to all. the problem I am having is I am trying to add 2 of the printers that are on the router to my pc's but I am unable to locate them also I am unable to log into my router through one of the computers that is connected to my modem directly but I can connect to my router with the pc connected directly to the router.
All the printers are set to share. Is the only way to do this is to connect all the printers to the main PC and then network all the pc's together? I am just trying to connect to all the printers that are on modem and router from any of the pc's connected to modem and router.

When I returned and tried to access, it simply does not connect. I get an error saying "Windows was unable to connect to abcd (router name)". I tried to plug it into the router through ethernet and it works perfectly.I have tried to uninstall the wireless adapter and the lan adapter as well. I have tried it in safe mode. I have tried to delete the network also but now that left me with inputting the password everytime I want to connect.

However, I am able to connect to the router from my Laptop.I have tried isconnecting and renewing the ip. Can see that ip (192.168.1.102) is issued to my PC and can ping to the same. View 8 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased and successfully installed a NetGear N600 dual band router (WNDR3400). My desktop has no connection issues. My iPod Touch has no issues connecting to the wireless network. However, my phone (HTC Aria), my work computer (Dell Latitude D630 Win XP) and my brand new HP Slate 500 (Win 7 Pro) cannot connect to the network. The network is discoverable by all the devices but the 3 cannot connect. I removed all security and still was not able to connect.
I reinstalled the router and still not able to connect. I restarted the router and still not able to connect. The Dell did previously connect to unsecured networks in my neighborhood but does not seem to like my newly set-up network. I am most surprised that the Slate is unable to connect to the wireless network. I would think something brand new would like that would not have an issue. If I cannot get my wireless router working properly and my other computers able to connect to it, it makes them all pretty useless.

I tried to reset the router and connect to the admin screen at 192.168.1.1, but it gives a "page not found" error. My internet work with a wired connection to the router, and the computer's IP address is 66.xxx.xxx.xxx. Looking at most forums which talk about this problem it seems like most people have IP addresses starting with 192. Why does mine start with 66? Is this related to the problem of being unable to access the admin screen? This is a home network and I'm running Ubuntu and have a Linksys WRT54G router. I get the same IP address whether I connect just from the modem to the PC, or from modem to router to PC.

There is an iMac, an IBM Think Pad and a Dell XPS 410 tower (both running XP) on the network and all were working until this week. All of a sudden I can not get on the internet with the Dell PC. When I try to log into the router, it searches for a connection, but never is able to attain one. My network is displayed and I am using WPA security and have been entering the correct key. I have tried reinstalling the drivers, but with no success. I believe I was able to access a local unprotected site, but after being connected a pass word was required. I checked my router's setting but I have no website filtering in place. Is there any other router setting which would cause one particular http address to always time out ? When I try to ping the web address it times out also, so it makes me think it is not the DNS server. Of course it could be my ISP, but why would a single web address time out always whereas my normal web surfing ?

This problem occurred at random as well, I went to bed one night and I was connected with zero problems and when I woke up it no longer worked. It has been like this for a week now and I feel like I've tried everything, including buying a new Netgear router which didnt work either.Some basic info:
- Router is a Linksys E900
- My apartment complex provides free internet through Pavlov Media
- I can connect to the unsecured Pavlov wireless with no problem
- Before it stopped working, I had simply set up the router by plugging it into a wall ethernet jack and running the setup disc. This no longer works, it will set up the network but then I receive an error stating it is unable to connect to the internet.
I reset my Hybrid modem router's settings back to factory settings cause the disconnects were pissing me off.After a while, It disconnected. I tried reconnecting, but now it's only showing "No Internet access."

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just successfully setup my wireless Netgear router to work with my laptop and desktop. I now want to get my iPhone to connect to it as a WiFi connection. It sees the available network after I enable WiFi, but when it tries to connect, it just says "unable to connect" or something after I input the password.
My current password shows in the Netgear router (through 192.168.1.1) in the "passphrase" field under Wireless Settings, and it's cp6s-n3rb-ziav. This is what I put in the password field for my particular network in the iPhone before it tells me it can't connect.
There is an option on the left column in the router for "Set password," but it's just to change it to something else. If my iPhone won't accept the current one, I don't see why it would accept a new one, and then I'd have to go and change it in the laptop, too. Without knowing if that's the issue, I'm holding off on that for right now.
