View 1 Replies View RelatedI got Fios installed this week. Router is the Actiontec MI424, it sits int he living room. I ran a speed test of the wifi on my laptop in the living room, and the internet speeds were great. Here's my problem. I'm in a 2 br condo, not a huge place maybe like 1200 Sq feet, same floor. Wifi is awesome in the living room, but in the bedroom it hangs. I still have a signal, varying for low to good, but it takes forever to open a web page, to the point where you can't use the internet. Bedroom is just down the hall.I called Verizon. They told me they can only guarantee the wifi signal 10 feet from the router, after that no promises. My frustration is that with my previous provider, which was giving me a slower internet connection, my wifi in the bedroom was fine and the router was in the exact same spot. Of course I used my own router? I know there are instructions on connecting my old router to the fios one and using my old router for wifi.

After I mounted the camera at the front door, after connecting the camera to the electric power, I saw clearly the picture. But after I finished mounting, I could not see the picture anymore. On the computer, it was stated that the camera was offline.

Wireless between the buildings is not out of the question; but, I've never done anything this distance before and I am concerned that signal loss over 660 feet might degrade throughput.
So, what is a feasible way of getting the signal from the first building 660 feet to the second building?

I need to bridge from our office to our shop that is around 800 feet away. Here are the Details
I need the 2.4 ghz antenna for client access (Iphones are not compatiable with 802.11a) The locations are 800 feet away but are line of sight. I need to use the 5ghz antenna for the bridge i have 2 aironet 1242ag's I have 2 2.4 ghz AIR-ANT3213 antennas (planned for client access) I have 2 2.4 ghz AIR-ANT2506 (maybe useless for this)
My problem is that the range of all the listed 5 ghz antennas. None that i can find will bridge 54mb over the 5ghz radio for greater than 170ft
The closest that i can find is AIR-ANT5195. If i put these on both sides and it is outdoors line of sight, will the best i can hope for is functioning and 6mb
Are there options on 5ghz that i am missing.
I need to a run an Ethernet network between 2 buildings 1000ft apart. The buildings are in a forest so I don't think wireless is possible. What kind of cable can I run between the two buildings and what type of adapters do I need on each side?

View 1 Replies View RelatedToday I bought a new TP-Link Wireless Router in China, (TL-WR845N), and set it up with followed instructions with the router IP setup too with 192.168.1.1. Before, it was only LAN and now I bought the wireless to use my iPhone with it. Now LAN wont work at all on either of my computers. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the Ethernet drivers, rebooted/checked the modem and router, but still couldn't get it to work. My Windows XP shows connected, but Chrome says unable to connect to the Internet.
I've checked TCP/IP settings, made it automatic, still nothing.

I have tried the signal repeater route and the signal just doesn't repeat strong enough.
I have a wifi router and a adsl ethernet/usb router, the adsl router connect to my laptop through usb port, and the wifi router connect to the adsl router throught ethernet/wan port.I can go online with the adsl router alone but cant with the wifi.I can connect to the wifi router's gate to config stuff, like password, wifi's name... but I just can not connect to IPS to online. Other devices can see the wifi network but when connect to it, I just can go to it's gateway.

I would like to set one network for surfing and another for gaming.
My internet only seems to be quick when I'm next to my router(around 15mb), or when I have a decently fast speed (4-5mb) sometimes in my room, I can't load any games such as HoN unless I alt-tab out of the window and load a internet screen. Could it be the router?

View 5 Replies View RelatedHere at work we have a Vigor Modem/Router hosting our connection to the world. It was originally on DHCP & the 4 computers & 2 printers found their own IP addresses without problem. We added a Linksys router via ethernet (to a lan port not the wan) in another area of the yard. This was fine also on DHCP and connecting wirelessly from a laptop or mobile phone was a doddle. Then our oh so wonderful IT geek decided to put the Vigor on a Static IP along with all the computers connected to it. This has some how cut off the wifi capability of the Linksys router now.It is basically acting as a hub for two laptops and nothing else.In simplistic terms with some detail what settings need changing on the Linksys if any?The Vigors internal IP is 192.168.1.1Linksys is 192.168.1.4both on subnet 255.255.255.0I have been advised to set the Linksys to a static IP on the Internet Connection option but what set of figures do i need for that??
View 7 Replies View RelatedLooking for my next router and it needs to have the standard WIFI capabilities, Gigabit wired ports and also ability to use 3G modem, or have one built in. I have not seen any entry level routers that does this.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHere's what we have at the house;
1 - Motorola Modem (horrible ISP)
2 - Dlink DIR 655 wireless router (about 2-3 years old)
3 - 2 laptops (windows 7/both)
4 - DirecTV broadband box (can't remember how that hooked up to the router?)
5 - Playstation 3
6 - (3) DTV sat receivers
The problem started while trying to connect the PS3 to the existing network. Only one laptop is wifi, the other laptop and Ps3 are in my room and wired in to the router, and the strange little DirecTV box is in the wired mix(for on-demand i guess?) The PS3 could not log-in to the PSNetwork(still can't), but it could browse the web just fine. So I start manually typing in IP addresses, 6 IP's in all, including the sharing of 3 DTV boxes that show up on the network on my admin laptop. Didn't work, so I get into the DLink router URL and start opening up ports that PSNetwork uses. At this point I think I have it figured out, then I did a firmware update on the router. My laptop, the PS3(internet, no PSNetwork) and even the little DTV box was working fine, all wired in, using 3 of the four ports. The old lady's laptop in the living room not only couldn't get on-line, it couldn't detect a wifi network? So try to set up a new real quick before I left this AM.. No beans!! I looked at the specs for the router, the firmware is up to date but from early 2010, and the features say "NO" to gaming support..
Do I get another router that can handle all the devices and is PS3 friendly, if that's even a thing!? I can't roll back the firmware update cause I wasn't able to back up the settings, and honestly theres a good chance I did something really bad as far as trying to tweak that router to open up ports for the specific IP address that goes to the game console. We'll call it 191.55.55.99. When I thought I was finished, the PS3 IP address had switched to 191.55.55.98? So it dropped down a number, I thought it was static, and all my efforts were for the --99 IP address, basically I have network issues consisting of Satalite tv boxes, a public DTV share folder, a video game console, one wired and one wireless, and a router that I WANT TO SET ON FIRE!
ok i've been through the ringer here searching dozens of sites and stil no luck... my routers access point is 192.168.1.1 and states that a cannot alter the wpa2 personal to a wep or wep enterprise because it isn't supported.
