30 Feet From The Router - Camera Is Offline
Feb 17, 2012
the camera is about 30 feet from the router. Is it too far for the camera to be detected? After I mounted the camera at the front door, after connecting the camera to the electric power, I saw clearly the picture. But after I finished mounting, I could not see the picture anymore. On the computer, it was stated that the camera was offline.

I got Fios installed this week. Router is the Actiontec MI424, it sits int he living room. I ran a speed test of the wifi on my laptop in the living room, and the internet speeds were great. Here's my problem. I'm in a 2 br condo, not a huge place maybe like 1200 Sq feet, same floor. Wifi is awesome in the living room, but in the bedroom it hangs. I still have a signal, varying for low to good, but it takes forever to open a web page, to the point where you can't use the internet. Bedroom is just down the hall.I called Verizon. They told me they can only guarantee the wifi signal 10 feet from the router, after that no promises. My frustration is that with my previous provider, which was giving me a slower internet connection, my wifi in the bedroom was fine and the router was in the exact same spot. Of course I used my own router? I know there are instructions on connecting my old router to the fios one and using my old router for wifi.

I was successful in configuring a new e1200 in bridge mode to extend my network. I did this with the routers side by side. In then moved the e1200 to a new location 150 feet away and it will not work. I previously had this working with an older linksys router. It will not deliver a Internet connection.

I asked a question recently about accessing camera via a smartphone but I realize that's not really the correct question. The smartphone works fine locally with wifi and has a browser available.
The real question I have is what is the easiest way to access any camera via a browser from a remote location. Years ago tech friend assisted me access my DCS-910 using dyndns.org. It was free and worked great. I guess it went away when they started charging for a basic account.
Is there an easy way to access a camera without using dyndns even if it involves putting in an IP address instead of a convenient domain name? I would just like to see at least one of my cameras in a browser off-site. If I have to pay $20/year for dyndns I can but I would prefer not to if possible.

I added a VOIP fax line to my network and in doing so, was forced to reset my router, as it would not go on-line. Now the printers are all off line and I can not get them back online. I followed instructions within admin and it did not work. My network is a 2 computer network. My computer acts as server and then one other computer.

My network layout is in the attatched photo, all hard wired to their destination. The wireless routers in the picture have been replaced with Netgear WG602 WAP's in an attempt to fix this problem. Ive aquired a smart phone (android) and decided to setup two WAP's on my property for mine or my guests' usage. When I connect to the WAP on the android my Linksys Router gets knocked offline and I have to unplug it to get everything on the network to connect to the internet.

Two buildings on same farm property 660 feet apart. Cable internet to one building does not reach 660 feet to second building and the cable company will not put it in. Wireless between the buildings is not out of the question; but, I've never done anything this distance before and I am concerned that signal loss over 660 feet might degrade throughput.
So, what is a feasible way of getting the signal from the first building 660 feet to the second building?

I need to bridge from our office to our shop that is around 800 feet away. Here are the Details
I need the 2.4 ghz antenna for client access (Iphones are not compatiable with 802.11a) The locations are 800 feet away but are line of sight. I need to use the 5ghz antenna for the bridge i have 2 aironet 1242ag's I have 2 2.4 ghz AIR-ANT3213 antennas (planned for client access) I have 2 2.4 ghz AIR-ANT2506 (maybe useless for this)
My problem is that the range of all the listed 5 ghz antennas. None that i can find will bridge 54mb over the 5ghz radio for greater than 170ft
The closest that i can find is AIR-ANT5195. If i put these on both sides and it is outdoors line of sight, will the best i can hope for is functioning and 6mb
Are there options on 5ghz that i am missing.

I'm a skydiver and since 2 years, the dropzone where I jump have been putting webcam around the area to see what's happening on the dropzone live online. I talk to them about a project and they said it would be great but I don't know how to do it or if it's even possible to do.We would like to put a wireless camera onboard one of the planes so that ppl can see what is happening up there and that would stream live directly on their website like the other cameras they have around... the thing is, we jump from 13 500 feet.

I've got a Linksys E2000 router and a Brother MFC-7840W wireless printer and they don't seem to want to play nice together. The set-up process was fine and I can usually print wireless without a problem, but every so often I'll try to print and my computer will say that the printer is offline. Other computers on my network also show it as offline. The printer confirms it has an IP address, but even after power cycling it won't be picked up by my machines. I've even tried a full reset of the printer and re-configured it, at which point it is able to successfully obtain an IP address, but it still shows as offline on my PCs.
The only solution I have found is to powercycle the router. This always works. Now that's not a terribly inconvenient workaround most of the time, so I've been doing that for a few months now. It obviously implicates the router as the point of failure, but wireless internet access is not affected when the printer appears to be offline, so obviously some packets are getting through normally.

Recently upgraded to WRT400N from older 54G. Opened ports to my Linksys IP Cameras and can access via DynDNS address (using Modem addressort) from inside my network but not remotely. If I disable SPI Firewall it works from outside my network ... am I missing a step ... never had this problem with 54G and although I run software firewall on my computers I like the thought of added security of a firewall on my router.

I have just purchased a DCS 2121 (I assume that it is a similar model to the DCS 920 in US).I have this setup:
- Connected the DCS 2121 wireless to my Belkin Router with a fixed IP address. Firmware version 1.4 is installed on the camera.
- I have a Synology 209 NAS server with surveillance station that I have connected to the Camera.
I all works fine for 5 minutes to a couple of hours at which point the DCS 2121 loose connection to the Router and does not try to reconnect. If I turn the Cam on and off it will reconnect - and then loose connection again af a short time. This is totally frustrating since the purpose of the Cam is to work as a surveillance cam - it kinda loose its value by not being connected...

I have a wireless network in my home. I reliably get solid connections on our various devices such as the Wii (netflix streaming), a net book, a laptop and Wi-Fi connections on android phones. When I first set up the 930L I thought it was defective because I couldn't get a connection. Until I did it in the same room as the router okay, that worked. But I move 2 rooms over and I no longer connect.
Seriously, I can go a few rooms away and easily stream an HD movie via netflix to my net book. But if I set up the 930L at the exact same location it will not connect. If I move the camera within about 20 feet of the router with only maybe 1 wall between them, it will connect.
At this level of wireless power it is nearly worthless for me. Is my camera defective or are all of them this lower powered?I am running a dlink router, 300N, WPA security. Like I said, I can connect if I'm literally 10 feet away. But any significant distance or anything more than a single wall in between and the router no longer sees the camera. And all other wireless devices have strong, reliable connections all through my house.

I've got 3 computers (2 desk 1 lap) all running Windows 7. I have 2 network printers. The printers are wired to one of the desktops and the other 2 computers connect via network. The printers work fine once I add them to each computer, but once I restart, the printers appear offline on the other 2 computers even though they work fine on the desktop to which they are wired.I've had this setup for a while and only recently this started happening. It looks like Win7 is messing with the IPs of the printers. I'm not an expert on how to find the IP addresses of the printers though and set them to static (if this indeed is the problem)

I have had this card fall over in the following way 3 times in the past 3 weeks (??? to protect the innocent) :
Feb 3 17:27:31.209 ACDT: %MBUS-6-SWITCHED_FABCLK: Slot 4 primary clock switched to clock 0
Feb 3 17:27:33.360 ACDT: %LDP-5-NBRCHG: LDP Neighbor ???.???.???.??:0 (1) is DOWN (Received error notification from peer: Holddown time expired)
[Code].....
After the initial failure and card reseat it has lasted almost 3 weeks, reseated it again today and it fell over again within a minute. Reseated again and it is stil up and passing traffic after an hour.
Trying to power cycle the card from the chassis fails, a remove/insert is required to get the card running.
Is this a memory failure on the SIP (CEF failure??) or some other odd fault with the SIP, that makes it require a card remove/reinsert?

I recently puchased a new E4200v2 router and one of the devices that I have on my network is a Level1 WCS-2040 wireless network camera. My old router was a Netgear WPN-824. I was able to (and I'm still able to) connect the camera to the Netgear router with WPA-PSK but not to the new E4200v2. The only way for me to connect it to the new router is with WEP, which I obviously do not want.
I'm at a loss for what the problem is because the setup is easily done. I'm thinking it's an issue with the E4200v2 but I'm not sure what... hoping that the issue could be resolved in the next revision of the firmware. I've tried WPA2/WPA Mixed Mode, WPA Personal (which I understand is the same thing as WPA-PSK) and WEP. The camera supports WEP and WPA-PSK. When I have the camera configured with WPA-PSK it simply isn't connecting to the E4200v2, only the old netgear.
See screenshots below:
Netgear router wireless config:
Netgear router connected devices (shows laptop and wirelss camera):
IP Camera config while connected to old router:
IP Camera working on old network:
E4200v2 wireless status:
IP Camera config while connected to E4200v2 router (via wired connection, not wireless):
When the wired connection is removed from the camera and powercycled, the E4200v2 does not list the camera as a connected device. I've power cycled everything, multiple times and tried everything I know of. What could be the problem? Note that the MAC address for the camera is the same for both wired and wireless adapters. And no, Password1 is not my default password... just what I was testing with for the purpose of screenshots.

how its possible that even when I turn off wifi on the laptop and even disconnect the modem that when I type netstat into CMD that there is still one or two TCP ESTABLISHED connections? I have waited as long as an hour and there are still established connections even though I am not connected to my internet. if I shut down the computer and reload it again with the router unplugged there will be either no connections or maybe one TIME WAIT connection for one or two IPs. but as soon as I reconnect to the internet then disconnect, the same thing happens where there are established connections to the laptop even though I am not connected to the internet.I use ccleaner to remove all cookies between sessions.
