Windows 7 Pro 32 Cannot See Network And Won't Honor Static IPv4?
Mar 16, 2012
We set up three new terminals this week at the office; they're all running Win 7 Pro 32-bit. I set them all up simultaneously (literally sat at a desk and entered the same keystrokes at each of them), so I don't see any obvious reason that one is behaving differently from the other two. The essential problem is that the terminal doesn't see the Internet.
Here are all the particulars that I think might be interesting, listed in no particular order:
- The terminal ran fine for several hours. Email access, Internet access, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. At that point, the user called me to show me a dialog box. I used System Restore to go back in time to 9 a.m. in case the user had somehow managed to do anything (though she's not an admin).
- IPv6 is disabled.
- The workplace uses Static IPs. The IP address is entered correctly in the IPv4 properties (x.x.x.213), but at cmd / ipconfig, I get this result: "Autoconfiguration IPv4 address: 169.254.95.187"
- In Network and Sharing Center, the network (which is only known as Unidentified Network) is set to type Public. When I reset it to type Work and reboot, it resets to type Public.

Newly acquired DIR-615 E3 with F/W vers. 5.10. Router configured with IPv4 static address for WAN works fine. As soon as I configure the WAN IPv6 with a static IP address also, the configuration for the IPv4 static IP is corrupted. Other combinations of (WAN config) using static for either IPv4 or IPv6 with DHCP or other seem to work. Just appears to have conflict with two WAN static IP configurations.

ASA 5520 running 8.2
Is it possible to do static (inside, outside) with the outside address being IPv6 and the inside IPv4?
If yes, is it possible to do this in parallel with an existing static mapping that goes IPv4 to IPv4?

A few months back, my computer stopped connecting to networks. Through some process or another, I ended up "fixing" it by manually inserting the ipv4 settings. Apparently that only allows it to connect to my router though, as public wi fi won't work for it. If I leave the ipv4 settings set to automatically obtain information, the computer won't connect to the network. It will stay on the "identifying network" part indefinitely. In addition, I can't connect through the modem directly either, manual settings or not.
Here is the ipconfig while ipv4 is in auto-obtain

our company backbone is hp 5406, and desktop switches are hp 2510 currently we are working with ipv4.if we want to start use IPV6 for test environment, what’s things we need to enable in our backbone/regular switches.i mean for example if we want to set static IPV6 address for 2 servers and send ping between them, or even make new vlan with IVP6 subnet, and use it like regular vlan but with static ip's(until we got ipv6 dhcp).i have hp 5406 manual for IPV6 but i can't understand what i really need to do for start using IPV6.

I'm working on a computer that has no connectivity on wired or wireless connections. the wired eth card is a broadcom netlink card and the wireless adapter is an atheros ar5007eg. I found the drivers for the wireless on acer.com and removed the driver that was on here at first and put the one from acer. i cant find a network in range but device manager says its working fine. Then I found out the wired connection isnt working either and im getting the same messages from windows troubleshooter. It says both are "experiencing driver or hardware related issues and "make sure your internet protocol bindings are correct - ensure that ipv4 and ipv6 are selected in the config for the network adapter". it links me to the connection properties and ipv4 and ipv6 are checked off for both. futhermore, in the connection status window it says i have no ipv4 or ipv6 connectivity.

I am using ethernet because when I want to use a static IP (IPv4 address), it gives me no internet access if I use wireless. For ethernet, it lets me get access. How do I use wireless and use a static ip?

I have a machine with Windows Server 2003 running an Exchange Server in a office with 5 workstations attached. The server is being used for a basic outlook calendar across the various workstations, nothing major. Our current ISP provides us with a Static IP address. The party that installed and configured the server set it up to run the DHCP server on the server PC itself. As in, the machine running windows server is also running a software DHCP server for the entire network. THE SETUP: As of right now we have a wall port (internet access) with a cable running to a 8 port unmanaged netgear switch that has cables hooked up to the 5 workstations as well as the server itself. Pretty simple.THE QUESTION: How do I configure the ISP static settings on the DHCP Server portion of the Server PC? We may be getting a new ISP with a dynamic address OR a new static address. WHAT I'VE TRIED: I've tried configuring the IP address on the Server PC the way I would via the NIC adapter settings but it already has a internal IP address from the DHCP Server running on that PC so changing that was no good.

I want to print via Windows to a static-ip hp printer over the internet. I have static-ip addressed printers and plotters that I need to print to via my laptops from various locations when i'm not in the office. I have three locations and each location has static-ip's assigned to the local printers and i need to be able to print to them. Most laptops are either Windows XP PRO or Windows 7 Home Premium. I have heard something about using port 9100 to print to them, but I don't know how that works.

ISE 1.1.3
Cisco 3750 switches
Windows XP / 7 / 2008 clients
I'm having some weird issues were if a client connects to a switchport and happens to be using a static IP address then the client warns of a duplicate address problem. Also the client will then only show the default gateway within ipconfig even though the IP address / mask is still in the GUI network properties of the adaptor. This is happening with Windows 7 and Windows 2008 devices.
Windows XP clients don't get the issue.
Some clients will use 802.1x native supplicant and some will be authenticated based on MAB. Not noticed the problem with 802.1x clients but it always occurs on MAB.
I came across a similar issue here: URL
Going of that blog I tried using the "ip device tracking delay probe delay" command but the switches don't recognise the "delay" keyword.
The switches are 3750 switches running version 12.2(58)SE2.
All I have is "count, interval, use-svi" as extra options.
Catalyst 4500 switch guide has "delay" option but no "count, interval or use-svi".
The only way I have managed to avoid the problem is using the second solution which is a registry hack on each client. This is fine for the odd server but not realistic when there will be hundreds of other clients.

I understand you can't assign an IPv4 Address to a "port". But here's my issue. I have two network cables attached to a managed switch, the location of the two cables are very important. Two computers attached to the said cables.I would like to communicate with one of the computers on PORT 1 and PORT 2, regardless of what computer is plugged into them. They get there IP's via DHCP, and a static IP wont work - as the computer plugged into PORT 1 or 2 may be different.So. I have two ports on the switch that I always want to communicate with the computer on the other end. But I don't (will not) always know the IP address of the computer(s) connected.

has quite frankly gotten me absolutely annoyed . I've tried just about everything, from using the netsh commands to changing the dns to 8.8.8.8 or that other one or the other. Nothing is working, I unplugged the router, problem persists, I disabled IPV6 problem persists, I restore, problem persists. The only clue I have is my router, and mysteriously, there are TWO of my computer on it. It might be nothing but most certainly has caught my attention. Also, it gives me this info about my media being disconnected

So I have been trouble shooting this for just over a day and still nothing, but anyways. My computer says that I am connected to the wireless router and that I have great signal strength but I have no internet access from either my IPv4 or IPv6. I have been using the cmd commands such as netsh reset, and the like. I have restarted both modem and router a few times as well as my computer. Also just did a recent avg scan and firewalls are all off. This is all coming from my mac laptop which is connected just fine which leaves me even more confused.

I live in a shared house, and I am the only one who has been experiencing issues connecting to the internet. I have to ask a housemate to reset the server, as this is the only thing that works.
When I am unable to connect, and I use command ipconfig, the following appears: Autoconfiguration IPv4 169.254.23.29 On the occasions when I am connected, the following appears in its place: IPv4 IP Address: 192.168.0.2
One tip that I came across was to check the box (Wireless Network properties, Connection tab) for "Connect even if the network is not broadcasting". I had hoped this simple solution would assist, but to no avail.

I've got a device that is not strictly speaking a 'desktop computer', but I communicate with it over the network - it's a video switcher, I use it for broadcasting.I'm trying to set it up with a static IP on my larger network, rather than just a local one, but in order to do that, it needs a static IP, and my network is setup with DHCP.I can assign it a static IP if I can get it's MAC Address - but there's the hitch. It's nowhere on the device itself, on the box, in the instructions.I ran "arp -a" in the console and found the IP it's currently assigned to, and the MAC address associated with that is:
7c:2e:d:0:68:ad
But that doesn't seem to be standard format. The :d: should have another character in with it, as should :0:
How can I convert this to standard format?

Last two weeks, I have had a problem connecting to public hotspots. My own WiFi network is fine, but while I am connected to any public hotspot I get the 'no internet access' message on the wifi symbol. While connected to my own network, ipconfig/all shows that I have an Autoconfiguration IPv4 address in the (correct) 192 range - but when connected to a hotspot, the address is in the 169 range, or occasionally (as in the instance below) in the 10 range. Clearly this is the problem, but I cannot figure out what has caused it. Is it hardware? Software? Malware? Or user error?I have run the Wireless Test and the log results are pasted below.

ipv6 access-class hostsIPv6 in
Do I have to use named ACLs?
