I am using ethernet because when I want to use a static IP (IPv4 address), it gives me no internet access if I use wireless. For ethernet, it lets me get access. How do I use wireless and use a static ip?

I want to print via Windows to a static-ip hp printer over the internet. I have static-ip addressed printers and plotters that I need to print to via my laptops from various locations when i'm not in the office. I have three locations and each location has static-ip's assigned to the local printers and i need to be able to print to them.Most laptops are either Windows XP PRO or Windows 7 Home Premium. I have heard something about using port 9100 to print to them, but I don't know how that works.

The server is being used for a basic outlook calendar across the various workstations, nothing major. Our current ISP provides us with a Static IP address. The party that installed and configured the server set it up to run the DHCP server on the server PC itself. As in, the machine running windows server is also running a software DHCP server for the entire network. THE SETUP: As of right now we have a wall port (internet access) with a cable running to a 8 port unmanaged netgear switch that has cables hooked up to the 5 workstations as well as the server itself. Pretty simple.THE QUESTION: How do I configure the ISP static settings on the DHCP Server portion of the Server PC? We may be getting a new ISP with a dynamic address OR a new static address. WHAT I'VE TRIED: I've tried configuring the IP address on the Server PC the way I would via the NIC adapter settings but it already has a internal IP address from the DHCP Server running on that PC so changing that was no good.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWe set up three new terminals this week at the office; they're all running Win 7 Pro 32-bit. I set them all up simultaneously (literally sat at a desk and entered the same keystrokes at each of them), so I don't see any obvious reason that one is behaving differently from the other two. The essential problem is that the terminal doesn't see the Internet.
Here are all the particulars that I think might be interesting, listed in no particular order:
- The terminal ran fine for several hours. Email access, Internet access, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. At that point, the user called me to show me a dialog box. I used System Restore to go back in time to 9 a.m. in case the user had somehow managed to do anything (though she's not an admin).
- IPv6 is disabled.
- The workplace uses Static IPs. The IP address is entered correctly in the IPv4 properties (x.x.x.213), but at cmd / ipconfig, I get this result: "Autoconfiguration IPv4 address: 169.254.95.187"
- In Network and Sharing Center, the network (which is only known as Unidentified Network) is set to type Public. When I reset it to type Work and reboot, it resets to type Public.

I'm having some weird issues were if a client connects to a switchport and happens to be using a static IP address then the client warns of a duplicate address problem. Also the client will then only show the default gateway within ipconfig even though the IP address / mask is still in the GUI network properties of the adaptor. This is happening with Windows 7 and Windows 2008 devices.
Windows XP clients don't get the issue.
Some clients will use 802.1x native supplicant and some will be authenticated based on MAB. Not noticed the problem with 802.1x clients but it always occurs on MAB.

Going of that blog I tried using the "ip device tracking delay probe delay" command but the switches don't recognise the "delay" keyword.
The switches are 3750 switches running version 12.2(58)SE2.
All I have is "count, interval, use-svi" as extra options.
Catalyst 4500 switch guide has "delay" option but no "count, interval or use-svi".
The only way I have managed to avoid the problem is using the second solution which is a registry hack on each client. This is fine for the odd server but not realistic when there will be hundreds of other clients.

1. Via the Networking > LAN (Local Network) > Static DHCP I have no buttons to Add a new static Lease.
2. Via the Networking > LAN (Local Network) > DHCP Lease Clients I can thick a Lease and click on Make Static IP. The result is an error: Operation failed.
I have recently built a server running WHS 2011. The mobo have 4 NIC ports.
NIC 1 - Is connected to network / internet and is set with static IP.
NIC 2 - Is connected to a WD Mybookworld NAS Drive with no specific IP settings.
I can access the NAS drive for a short while, but after say 10 mins (sometimes shorter) I lose access and it says it cannot find the drive.I know its not a NAS drive issue as when NAS is plugged directly into router there is no issue.I have tried using a static IP for NAS drive but cannot access the drive at all then (have tried default gateways as router and the server ip address). But nothing.I can't turn off the NAS drive with the power button it has to be unplugged so as if its locked up for some reason.
I've having a problem with our company ASA5505 router.
We recently moved to a new adress, so everything had to be set up again. I have a static IP, submask and gateway from our new ISP. The router have been factory reset before moving. We have betweeen 10-20 employees on our LAN in the office. In an attempt to make things easier I have changed the internal IP (and IP range) to 10.0.200.1 with a range from 10.0.200.5 - 10.0.200.100 as our NAS/printer/plotter have IPs within this range.
I can ping machines on the internal IPs and in ASDM the Outside interface is show as "up" with a green arrow. But there still isn't any internet connection. The only thing I haven't tried (because people need the current network to be online) is changing "route inside 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 62.242.X.X 1" to "route outside 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 62.242.X.X 1"
I have recieved a primary and secondary DNS adress as well, but I'm in doubt as to were I'm supposed to enter these (Using ASDM Version 6.3). I would like everything "Behind" the router to be run by DHCP.

I have what I feel is sort of a strange issue. When I have systems on my home network get their IP from DHCP, they can get to the internet just fine. But it seems that when I assign a static address, they have local network access only, and will not get a connection to the internet. My windows 2008 server is the big problem with this one.

It was, and the problem is that my router switched to a dynamic IP after comcast installed a security system to my house. If I try to reset the router, the system goes down and takes a helluva long time to get back up. Whenever I try to switch to a static IP, however, I lose internet connection. Wondering how to fix this. Or do I have to switch back to my laptop - which might also not even work. (I'll go try that, but I'm using my desktop because it has extra RAM.)

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to portforward for a game, and in order to do so, I'm setting up a static IP. I've portforwarded in the past and all's been fine, but when I'm trying to set a static IP now it allows me to portforward and host the game, but whenever I try to log into any sort of website, it cannot find the page. The only fix to this is to allow it to obtain the IP address automatically. I've had a static IP in the past and yet I've never run into this issue before.
When I go to my TCP/IPV4 settings under the properties of my selected internet connection, I open up my ipconfig(I'll post it below) and select "Use the Following Ip Address". I then input 192.168.1.73, to change it to that.
Then, I click on the subnet mask box and it auto-fills 255.255.255.0, which is listed under ipconfig anyways, and for default gateway I input 192.168.1.1. I leave the DNS server boxes blank because it doesn't list them under ipconfig and it's what I did in the past to achieve the same results. After I click OK, the issue I listed above begins.

I have an ASA 5505 behind my internet router. i have got only one public ip configured on the router outside interface.192.168.20.0/24 subnet is configured between ASA and router and inside network is 192.168.10.0/24 (Refer the attached diagram).
I have exposed my mail server and ftp server to public through static PAT in router and ASA with the same public on router outside interface. Iam facing issue some of the machines inside my network internet is not working(actually DNS is not resolving) some of the PC's internet is working fine some of the PC's randomly working. i have attached the diagram and ASA config , after this issue is sorted out i need to configure a L2L VPN to my head office.

I have an RVS 4000. I have several PC's to which I have assigned static IP addresses. I have recently upgraded most of the PC's to Win 7 (64) machines. I updated the firmware on the RVS4000 to 1.3.3.5 in conjunction with this. After such update (and actually before as well) I could not assign a static IP address to a PC and have access to the internet. It connects fine to my LAN, just no internet access. This is also affected on several other machines running Win XP and Win 2003 Server, so it's not just this computer.
I have:
1. Shut down (powered off/unplugged) everything, router, DSL modem, switches, server, etc.
2. As I said firmware is current.
3. Yes, DNS servers and gateway, subnet, etc. are all correctly specified on the PC.
4. Router is set for gateway mode.
5. Set to only IPV4.
The only way it allows internet access is to use DHCP. I've even tried taking the IP address via DHCP and manually assigning the DNS servers and that works fine, but as soon as I assign a static IP internet access is immediately gone.
There must be something I'm missing, but I can't seem to find it.
Everything worked fine prior to the conversion of the Win 7 machines, i.e. I had several PC's with static IP's and no problems.

There is going to be 2 computer and a router each with there own static public ip address (ie 68.x.x.x range) The issue i am running in to is getting the netgear set up correctly, every time i disable the dhcp server on the netgear and set up all 3 devices with the static ips i lose internet connection. If i leave the set work set up as dhcp on the lan side and keep the wan static ip it all works fine.

I've installed RV042 for a client of mine. For next two months everything worked without any problems. The issue I've been experiencing lately is when I assign a static IP address to the PC it won't have internet access. Once I allow it to have a dynamically assigned IP then it works fine. The IP I assign isn't part of the DHCP range.
